When people start a blog, Lets Play or whatever they normally start doing so because they enjoy it and not start simply for the sake of profit and if you are lucky people will notice what you do and join you with what you are enjoying doing. If you are unlucky then you either carry on doing it because you enjoy it or give up and move to something else.

Over time you will start to get better and better (only have to look at Tweaked for your Pleasure’s archive) and with this you will aim to become better and better. This could mean a better writer, editor, gamer and what not but regardless you will aim to improve on it and this is what will define you.

After time has passed and you start to get good at what you do, slowly people will remember you for doing what you enjoy and in time and if you are lucky you will gain recognition from it. I have noticed with people when they get to this stage, it does goes to their head and very quickly you will lose sight of why originally you started. You will start to feel regret, you will find many people who hate you due to what you do and you will find people better than you.

Due to all this people will decide to go further beyond and not carry on enjoying what they did, it now becomes a game on who can do better. You will do more, you will expand into things unnaturally and do things that really they have little enjoyment in doing and in time they will lose control of it all and end up with nothing to show for it.

If you are lucky in the nothingness you will find that exact thing you once enjoyed and hopefully this time the cycle will not repeat.

I am sure you are wondering what this means but I am saying from experience and from what I have noticed with people if you are doing something because you enjoy it then do not worry about anyone else and carry on. Once you start to let what you enjoy define you and all you do is focus on that – you will end up messing it all up if you do not keep control.

So that’s my advise for today. You can go on with whatever you was doing.

I am sure as a reader you have either watched Playing Games with Snat, heard about it or have found this link via Google as you are doing your own Lets Play or having problems overlaying audio with footage.

If you are having this problem then carry on reading and if not, why are you here?

The main problem most people have (and the same one I did) is assuming that the audio is recorded as a fix length of time – aka if you recorded 30 minutes of gaming footage and 30 minutes of commentary that it will overlay without any problems. This is not exactly true as I have discovered sampling is what really matters and then secondly making sure audio is recorded without any skips.

With the audio sampling you need to make sure they match. Using my hardware as an example the AVerMedia Game Capture HD records the audio at a typical 48k (most TVs uses this, so good chance your capture device is as well) while I am recording the audio for my commentary at 42.1k – typical CD quality.

When both of these are then put into my editing software (Movie Edit Professional 2013 Plus) they never overlay. The reason for this is mostly due to lost of audio per frame although I will be honest and say I do not understand it too well myself so if anyone knows exactly why then please do post in the comments. If you assume that you are losing a frame a minute then your audio is, every minute about 0.6 second out of sync and this builds up quickly – more so when you are recording for a longer amount of time.

So all this means to start with is when you are recording your commentary or whatever you are doing with overlaying the audio make sure it is recorded at the very same audio sampling rate as the video you are going to overlay it with.

The next issue I had is simply limits on the audio recording that caused skips. When I was recording for Playing Games with Snat: Final Fantasy XIII Part 12 I was doing it with Magix (audio) with a browser open, IM messaging loaded and a anti-virus scanning which caused bits to skip which does make the file length smaller which naturally stops it from overlaying.

In a nut shell make sure all you are doing is recording audio and not stressing your system out and that you are recording everything in the same sampling rate (where possible). Beyond that there is not much more I can say. If you are still having synchronisation problems then post in the comments and I will see what I can do.

A week or so back I did some recording with the help of Wrights Productions and a comment came up that if the owner was left to his own devices he will live purely of take away and microwave food. Now the reason for this is simply because he is very lazy and would prefer not to cook (if he can) but it got me thinking – what would it be like to actually live only eating microwave food.

Now really I should do this for a month but seeing I am lazy and prefer cooking a good meal, I am doing this for only a week and below are the results. This article will update daily. Should note I may pull this earlier if I decide for health reasons it is not wise to carry on. Should also note if you want to read more about possible bad tasting food, do go over to my food review blog at Is it Nice?.

Monday ~ 2013/04/22

So today we start. I figured to start all this off I would not get a set meal to eat today but rather get a bunch of different “microwaveable” food and seeing I am doing this “on the cheap”, I am also throwing in a cheap drink and not my typical Irn Bru.

As you can see on the right hand side we have a Ruster Burger that cost a quid from Morrison. Next we have some McCain’s micro chips and seeing I do not mind McCain’s chips at all I figured it should taste alright. Next up I have an orange looking drink.

So after three minutes of microwaving my food was finally ready …. and the chips was completely cold. So after whacking them in for another two minutes it still was not ready. So accepting my microwave has zipped its last food I went to check the burger which was piping hot.

Regardless I finally got the chips warm enough to eat and it did not occur to me then but I forgot to take a picture of what it looked like at the end but I am sure you can imagine it did not look that much different.

Taste wise though it was not bad. We will see if within a few days I still have the same opinion. I should note the microwave chips was barely anything and came to about 10 if you was lucky and should have fries to go.

Tuesday ~ 2013/04/23

So today was the same as yesterday with a few minor detail. The first was I decided one pack of those microwave chips was not enough so I had two. Rather than the orange drink I instead had a can of Irn Bru. Not including the Irn Bru as I always drink it, I have noticed a slight lack of energy and will already so time will tell yet.

Tomorrow I will try a more common pre made microwave meal – will decide tomorrow what though.

So I Randomly Got Sent A Message Over MSN That Was Meant To Close And Stop Working Over A Week Ago When We Started Typing Like This And Fuck It Is Annoying To Read, Slow To Type And Overall A Pointless Exercise To Even Bother With As My Friend Would Put It.

I Am Sure You Have Seen Online On Some Forum Or Blog With People Doing This But I Do Not Get Why. Are People Just That Lazy (well Actually It Took Me More Effort To Do This Than To Type Normally) Or Are They Germans Learning English And Do Not Understand We Don’t Need To Capitalise Nouns?

Or Is It Because These People Have It Setup On Their Phones To Do This By Default So They Can Follow A Crowd That Makes It Cool To Be Different Because, You Know, Doing The Same As Everyone Else Makes You Completely Different. From Having A Look Around On The World Wide Web Some People Are Saying It Looks Cleaner But What The Hell – There Is A Very Good Reason We Have Language Standards. You Should Only Capitalise Names Of People, Places And If Needed For Anything Like Mathematics Formulas Et Cetera.

Another Reason I Found Online That People Are Commonly Saying Is That It “Hypnotise” The Reader. So Lets Test That Theory As I Believe It Is Complete Bullshit.

Send All Your Money To The Dolphin On The Right That Is Asking For Donations. Go And Do It And Prove Me Wrong.

Typing Like This Is Very Annoying To Read – I Am Sure You May Be Having Some Issues Right Now Reading This And I Do Not Blame You But We Now Got To Decide On How To Stop This. Seeing It Is Not Yet Legal To Punch Someone In The Face And Not Yet Technically Possible Over The Internet Yet We Need To Come Up With Some Ideas.

So If You Got An Idea How To Stop Someone Typing Like This Post Them In The Comments. We Are Looking For Methods That Will Work Well And Where Possible Involves Hurting The Writer As Much As Hurting The Person Reading.

On A Side Note After The Deadline Found No Problems With This Article.

You can have fun and not be drunk

There is a common disbelief that someone must be drinking alcohol to be a fun person to hang out with and if someone does not like alcohol then there is something wrong with them … even though the same people who say that never originally liked alcohol which comes to the question why?

Well I can answer that one easily. First most people will claim that alcohol is an acquired taste and thus keep saying you must keep drinking it before you will enjoy it. Well why most people are like this is simple – they was “forced” by the power of peer pressure to do so believing the best way to have fun is simply just to keep drinking.

Well is there some truth to the matter? Well ultimately there is some truth in it but in the way you think. The first is alcohol does help to “loosen” some people although if they actually need that then they either do not want to be there or they are naturally not like that and do not really want to be like that. The second is it gives you something to do when you are simply hanging around with people although the second one can easily be sorted by drinking anything else.

The main problem comes from the fact that there are a few people who actually think you need to be drinking to have “fun” although I do have to say most of those that believe this does not actually have any hobbies outside of drinking.

Now I did originally think that this did not happen as much as I thought it did and with this in mind I figured I would ask around and see what other people advised and this is exactly what I was told.

… even I was a tad bit surprised by that reply. Thinking it was a one-off I asked others and again, it was the same reply. So rather not actually just drinking less they actually believed the BEST choice was simply to hide the amount you was drinking and the after the following was a few I was actually told.

Mis-place your drink.

Order plain water or soda and say it was alcohol in it.

Avoid shots.

Excuse yourself when new drinks are offered.

So instead of telling people they do not want another drink they would rather hide the amount they are drinking and sadly the reason is simple – peer pressure. They are pressured into drinking that much else they are deemed as not fun. They are not fun simply because they are not drinking is the same way saying I can beat the crap out of Superman Prime (One Million) on the core of the sun – not only would I be the raw chemicals that made me within less than micro seconds should I somehow live Superman Prime would pretty much rape me on the spot.

The worst part is those people who do expect others to drink to be fun have often (and I have seen this), fall out with people who do not drink as much as they do or who used to drink and stopped. Just because someone does not drink that does not make them any different to who they once were.

So if you are out at a pub with some friends and you see one that does not want to drink or drink much, offer some water – no need for that person to be left out because they are not drinking you under the table … unless you are Irish then bully them all you want.

You did not expect me to actually draw that did you?

I am sure everyone has heard of the term “political correctness” but if you have not it is basically a term used for all the bullshit people say you must do when really no really gives a shit. I am sure you have noticed in the media you will always hear people call a “different coloured” skin person a “African American” although the person may actually have been born in Europe but hey, political correctness means we must apply a Government approved label to everyone.

So while we have our African-American what do you think we call “white coloured people” these days?

Caucasian, British, Irish, American or well whatever said person comes from is normally the answer. Think back for a few minutes when you last filled in a Government issued form, applied for a job or hell even ordered something online today you will always see a bit where it asks about skin colour and yes really you do on Government forms. Quite a funny logic when you see those forms are to “help” the person reading it to make a choice so they are not racist because having to allow X amount of people who apply to something have to be “non-white” is not racist at all.

Thing is though is all of this is meant to help be “correct” but all it is doing is forcing people to notice what people are. I do not know about you lot but when I see a “African-American” all I can see is another normal person and fail to see why such a label even matters outside the scientific community.

With these terms being used we are forcing everyone to notice the differences and then subconsciously act differently towards said person due to the label being different to your own.

Do not get me wrong it is great everyone is seen as equals but as soon as you start applying “political correct” labels to everything we are forcing people to start looking at stereotypes. And you want to know what the best part is though about it all?

It doe snot matter what terms we use to keep everything ” as any term we use is still the same to label someone. So it doesn’t matter if we use “black person” or “African-American” – we are still highlighting there is something wrong. How about instead we just don’t give a shit and do not use any terms beyond the country you came from or human.

Unless you are not actually human but then you got another issue on your hands. Oh and if this rant made no sense at all, I will rewrite it another day but hey is not bad to write-up half asleep.

If you remember back just less than a year ago, I wrote an article called Part 1: How to do a Let’s Play. Well today is the second part and this one goes into the software side of things. As before I am going to go over a range of prices. This article also assumes you want to do live voice recording and not recording afterwards but the same counts for those that do – you will just need to step a bit.

To find out the prices just open the link below in a new window and you will find them right away.

Software

Editing / Recording

The first bit of software you are going to need is what I am going to call the editing / recording software. I am sure I do not need to tell you why this is vital but basically without this no matter how good you are, you are not going to record anything.

The software package I would recommend you to do purely based on how well it has worked for me is Movie Edit Professional from Magix. Magix allows you to first record your footage as you would expect and then allow you if needed to edit the footage such as cleaning the audio, cutting parts out. Magix also will allow you to export the footage into ideal formats for video uploading sites.

Should Magix not be your thing or your budget does not allow you to get new software, the next one is the Roxio Game Capture Software. If you got the Roxio Game Capture from the link in part 1 then you already have filming and editing software that is far more simple (but less powerful) to use than Magix.

The Roxio will allow you to as you expect record game play and then do basic editing and then exporting it into a format for online video sharing websites.

And the last one I am going to list is a free solution and that is AVS Video Editor. While this editor is basic it will allow you to record from an external source and do video editing.

Audio Mixing

Audio mixing is the hardest one that I spent ages researching originally for Playing Games with Snat. Lucky enough there is a few solutions (now assuming you are using Windows, if using Linux you are lucky enough to use Pulse Audio) that you need to pay for and one solution that is free.

The first solution is stereo mix within Windows and this is a free solution that “possibly” is built into your operating system drivers. This method basically allows everything that can be heard on your computer to be recorded which means you can have software that is playing back your microphone and the game capture.

A big problem with this solution is it might not be on your system as it was removed to stop people from recording music (although a simple 3.5 to 3.5 cable can do that) and that it does not sound the best. If you can avoid this one, avoid it.

The next one is the original software I got and that is Virtual Sound Card from e2esoft. This one works pretty well and will directly merge the audio without any hassle but it comes with a problem – you can not control the volume level of any of the audio sources which means you can not lower the game audio so your microphone can be heard.

The next one however is the one I will recommend you to get, although cost the most of the lot and that is Virtual Audio Stream from DDMF. This works by allowing you to merge different channels together and that is it. You are able to use Windows volume controller to record how loud everything records at thus you can turn down the game capture and increase your microphone.

Furthermore this software is not hard to set up but seeing I have already done it there is a screenshot below showing how I use it.

And there we have it. In the first part you learned about the hardware you will need and now in this part you have learnt about what software you will need. The next article will go into how I do a let’s play and give further advise. Beyond that however you should now have the knowledge to get started.

Today I am going to write about something I have noticed on so many websites and then for it to work and honestly I am so surprised that when I contacted the webmaster of those websites they had NO idea it was even possible. With this in mind I have decided to write this article so if you do not know if you have this issue you are able to check.

First of all for this exploit to work the programmer behind the website needed to have not done any checks when it comes to confirming payments. Normally a payment script works like this.

Website –> Cart Page (Takes price from database) –> Payment Processor –> Website (With PP confirming payment)

So as you can see all that happens is the cart page on the website takes the pricing information and places it into a form on the website (often simply just as a hidden field) which then passes all that on via POST to a payment processor such as PayPal or 2checkout. Once on the payment processor they fill in all their details and then afterwards the payment processor sends it back to the website (often via POST).

Now we are back on the website it is up to a script to decide what to do. Most payment processors tend to send the following information back.

Price of the order (very important but widely overlooked as you will see shortly).

Order ID (so the database is updated).

Transaction ID (so you can link the order ID to a transaction log).

Other important crap that I am not listing.

So as you can see from the bullet points, the first thing I listed is price. What ideally should happen is when the user comes back to the website the script that first check if the order was finished, then check if it was a fraud order and THEN check to make sure the amount they paid compared to how much the order was and it is this step that I have noticed so many people ignore as they seem to expect when someone comes back from the payment processor it must mean they paid.

The problem with this is they did indeed pay but it never the amount you expect. This happens due to the person that is running this exploit is changing the HTML form. This can easily be done by using software but an easy and quick example is Google Chrome.

HTML Exploit

Now while the example does not show a real payment processor code such as from 2checkout, it shows you how simple it is to edit a bit of HTML and if the website is not checking those values – they will accept it regardless and in this case it would allow people to set their own prices and with your website accepting it and unless you physically check up on those transactions you would never know it happened.

Now if your website is affected by this then you really need to fix it very quickly and fixing it is very easy. All you need to do is check every POST and GET data that is sent to your website. So if your website in these examples records the order price in the database then you want to check that value with the value the checkout gives you (making sure that the request actually comes from the payment processor but that is a different article altogether)

It has came to my attention that quite a few people seem to have not actually read the article and only read a few words and decided to go off on me with the whole – people like you should be locked up. If you read the article carefully you will see this article has NOTHING to do with being gay is wrong – people are free to be whatever they please. This article is writing about the hidden discrimination that ex-gays by some of the gay community. No where written in this article does it even comment on being gay so please at least read before you judge. And for those that is saying this does not happen then you are not looking close enough. It happens in every community and it is this one I am writing about solely because it is hidden from public eye.

I am sure you have heard within the United Kingdom the Government is debating about the meaning behind marriage and allowing homosexuals the right to be married but there is one thing the Government itself keeps avoiding and even in a way now starting to support and that is a form of discrimination against the ex-homosexual community surprisingly by the homosexual community itself.

For many years the homosexual community have been attacked over and over and it is a very good thing they are now protected by law but why is it now the homosexual community has started to attack the ex-homosexual community and anyone that supports them even when the homosexual community has fought for many years to stop being vilified by the overall community due to how they are, just to turn around and do the same to those that leave.

It seems for some reason someone is now able to turn around and tell the world they are a homosexual and as long as it is not in half of the middle east and a couple states in the United States of America, they will be accepted with any change. It then seems for some reason you feel you are heterosexual after all it is now wrong and attacked by the homosexual community (really, just Google it and you will see many people’s stories when they tell you they had more abuse coming out as heterosexual then they did when they came out as a homosexual).

Double standards has always been something that exist within human nature and while the homosexual community cries out for tolerance and too should do the same to ex-homosexuals who are not given that chance by them.

I say grow up and live how you want but of course that naturally means I am not accepting of the homosexual community and thus automatically am wrong and what not but really very few gives a shit today if you are gay or not, stop caring about if others are too and worry about your own lives.

Further Reading: Discrimination against ex-gay

If you are a homosexual and about to comment that I am wrong as there are homosexuals out there that accepts ex-homosexuals than great. This article is not saying everyone that is a homosexual hates the ex community but simply showing that it does exist just the same way there are people out there that does not accept the homosexual community.

Many people when they start blogging start with the idea that they will be earning millions from advertising and that they can simply sit back and let everything happen. After a few weeks they start to work out it is not that easy and they give up even trying to carry on due to one main reason – they do not enjoy what they do.

Enjoying writing is the key to success when it comes to blogging but there is always a time where ideas just escape you and no matter how hard you think you are unable to come up with any ideas and this article hopefully will help you out a bit. So today you are going to learn a very basic method that can be used to find content to write about.

1. Google Insight – See what people want!

Google Insight is a very great tool to get ideas on what to write about. When you first visit Google Insight you will see there is a few search features which allow you to break down into categories. Once you have found one that you want to write about you can then set to find data as far back as you want – I would recommend a week – and then you are given a set of keywords. These keywords hopefully should be enough to jog your mind and hopefully create a title that you can name your post and once you have this title it gets a bit more easy.

2. Break your title down

So hopefully by now you have a title in your mind. For the sake of this article I have picked a few keywords from Google Insight as of writing the keywords for computers is – “app store, android apps and itunes” and the title I have created is App Store: Why it is important.

As you can see I have created a title from the keywords and now it is time to write the article. First thing you have to do is work out what your title is about. In my case it says why an app store is important so now it is time to research and write why. The first paragraph needs to jump right into the app store and in this case I would write what an app store is but not yet why it is important – we just want to get people interested enough to read on.

After the first paragraph you want to write more based on your keywords above in such a way that it makes sense. So in this example I would then write about what the Apple App Store is and how it uses iTunes, then I would write a new paragraph explaining what Google Play is and how it is different.

Once you have done this for every keyword it is time to wrap up.

3. Wrap up your post

Wrapping up a post is one of the most important things as it tells your reader what to do next and if you written something very well you can also tell them where to go next such as to your Facebook Fanpages, a Clickbank link or wherever. In this example a good wrap up would be to explain to the reader why it is important to make sure your website or application is on as many app stores as possible and then a short text to guide them elsewhere such as in this example I would send them to Clickbank so they can buy a book or whatever on creating an application.

And there we have it. If you are running out of ideas on how to create a post then hopefully this has helped you write something that people may be interested in.
