Sadly, until people have grasped the ability to post properly we, the potential renters, need to click the “View Map” link on each potential spot and see where it’s located, until now.  In my current search for a new place (aka The Bunker v2.0) I stumbled upon PadMapper.

This useful rental search tool queries Kijiji and CL postings and overlays them on a Google Map with the same useful search options you would find on either of the aforementioned sources, soo effective and soo simple.

So for me it’s back to the grind of finding a new spot, however I hope you found this post to be useful to those of you who may be currently looking for a place and if you did, let me know with a comment or like below!

After thumbing through the pages briefly it was really nice to see I only had to go through 26 pages to find my photos from the Official Backstreet Boys Afterparty @ Tequila Jacks photos. So if you were at the event, be sure to take a closer look at the above photo because you just may be in it!  What a great way to start a Sunday!

It’s only been a week since the trip, but I really miss the city & the people back there.

At first everything seemed fine, but then my transfer speed started getting throttled suddenly, and by throttled I’m talking 25kbps. Really?! How in God’s name do you expect me to do anything with that? I called support to find out what was going on and the really nice rep explained to me that based on how much I have in my storage, my bandwidth speeds get cut accordingly and there’s nothing that can be done. wow. so you mean I’ll be forced to use megaupload to send files to my clients? Isn’t that professional for a BUSINESS HOSTING PLAN?!  *rolleyes*

It’s not the only issue I’ve had, but it’s by far the absolute largest beef. (However their phone support staff are AWESOME!)

That certainly isn’t going to work for my photography needs, so  it’s time to find a new home. Enter Site5.

They’ve come highly recommended by a few friends, especially by Dubcomm.  Customer service, support, price and up time are all solid from what I’ve been told and what I’ve seen,  so it’s time to take the dive and make the switch next week when my plan comes up for renewal with Yahoo.

Hopefully this is a nice and easy transition. *fingers crossed*

…now time to get back to watching Saddam Hussein vs Pol Pot on Deadliest Warrior before bed. Shooting @ Jack Astors tomorrow evening.

It’s a shame to see these buildings lay unused, but then again they are a beautiful sight to behold in all their run down and decaying glory.

However it would be a real sin to see it turn Starbucks or H&M or FutureShop, so I guess I’ll stick with the decay.

This was my first mission out with my new Nikon 16-35mm f 4 VR strapped to my D700, and I’ve gotta say I’m very very happy with the results!

So it’s finally hit the streets! The 2012 Grind Hard “Graffiti on Girls” calendar is out and soon available in stores, online and will also be available in person at the Under Pressure International Graffiti Convention (Aug 5th-7th) in Montreal!

Simcoe Day 2011 celebrations at Toronto’s Historic Fort York.  I had the pleasure of attending the event with my father and Councilor Michael Thompson and managed to get some great photos including ones with Lieutenant Governor of Ontario The Honourable David C. Onley, The Honorable Senator Rev. Don Meredith and president of the Ontario Black History Society Rosemary Sadlier.

Needless to say I had a great time and look forward to covering more events for the City of Toronto’s celebrations for the bicentennial of the War of 1812.

Before you kick off your long weekend celebration, take a moment to think about the fact while you party it up with your friends and family there are  thousands continuing to die in the Horn of Africa, an area which includes Somalia, Kenya, Djibouti, Ethiopia and Uganda. That’s right, before you finish your beer or mix drink hundreds will likely die in one of the worst droughts to hit the region in 60 years and impacting 11.6 million people. An expected 5 MILLION CHILDREN will die before the next school year starts in just a few weeks if they don’t receive just the bare essentials of life, food & water.  To make matters worse, African Union forces have been trying to fend off rebel troops who are blocking the delivery of aid because the rebels believe it is better for these innocent people to die than to receive help from the west.

On the news they showed heart-wrenching images of children so hungry and dehydrated that they couldn’t even close their eyelids, told stories of families who have walked for months to get help and have lost family members along the way, one woman set out on her journey with her 4 children 2 months ago, she buried 3 of them along the way and the last one was barely clinging to life.  You can sit idly by this weekend while your fellow humans starve to death as you stand in front of your BBQ sipping drinks, or you can stand up and help make a difference.

The Canadian government has agreed to match dollar for dollar every donation made by Canadians to registered charities. That’s right! YOU can effectively double your donation, save countless innocent lives and even receive a a tax receipt that you can claim next year on your taxes (Red Cross emailed me mine 30 seconds after my donation was received). Plus as an added bonus you can feel good this weekend (no matter how bad your hangover) about the fact you did something good for humanity, and all it takes is 2 minutes of your time to save an entire lifetime.

So my challenge to you on this long weekend is to take a moment and donate $5, $10, $20..heck donate $1000! Whatever you can spare will help, we both know that you’ll most likely spend it on something that you don’t really need anyways, at least something that you don’t need as much as these unfortunate souls need a simple drink or water or a bowl of rice. I was always told as a child to lead by example, so I will do just that. I took 2 minutes and donated $25 of my weekend budget to The Canadian Red Cross (which is now $50 thanks to the government) and it will go to help provide clean drinking water and a meal to somebody who has just as much right to live as you and I do and I CHALLENGE YOU TO DO THE SAME.

Summer 2011 issue of UMM!!

I finally got myself a copy of the magazine and I’ve gotta admit it’s a really great feeling to see my photos in print in a magazine and my name in the credits. Hopefully this is the first of many to come, I know that my BackStreet Boys photos will also be featured in the next issue of UMM, which I’m really excited about!

These past few months I’ve started to really focus (har har) on photography, and it would seem that bit by bit it’s paying off, so that there is proof positive that with the right attitude, some dedication and a twist of passion that anything is possible. Sure it isn’t a cover girl, but hey, it’s a start!

Went out to the Harbourfront yesterday with my friend Samantha, checked out a free cat show and got some absolutely adorable photos. I don’t know about you, but I’m a total cat person, and seeing all those kitty cats made me want to take one or two of each home….MUST HAVE NEW KITTY!

Keep posted for the rest of the kitty pics, I should have them up soon, but first I need to get through some other edits before I can get to them. I just figured in the meantime I would share one of them.

LA based graffiti artist Revok was picked up by the LA Sheriffs Dept at LAX as he was about to board a flight to Ireland. Now arrests are nothing new to graffiti artists, but what blows my mind is the $320,000 bail that has been put on him, are you serious? Over 1/4 million dollars? For an ARTIST?!?!

What is this world coming to when we arrest talented artists and put such extreme and absurd penalties on them. Sure, not everybody likes graffiti, and the authorities want to send a message, but we aren’t talking about some wack ass lil toy punk from suburbia, we’re talking REVOK, one of the world’s best writers imo.

When will law enforcement and government realize they are fighting a losing battle, you don’t win wars with people who wage “war” within their own culture on a regular basis. It’s like going into an MMA fight against a pro fighter, meanwhile your training consists of watching UFC on TV, somebody’s gonna get knocked out, odds are it isnt going to be the UFC fighter.

The key is to find a peaceful median for both parties, because just like the war on marijuana, you cant kill graffiti, you just burn money on trying to make it go away. When oh when will the leaders ever learn? #wastefulhabits

What a wild night this ended up being! Even tho it was cut short by TPS, there was still a great turnout and alot of slick burners on some very pretty models. BurnerBabes.com will be launching in summer 2011 and we’re looking for beautiful ladies who want to get covered in some of the freshest graffiti body art you’ve ever seen. Obviously it’s not permanent paint/inks on your skin, all water based. This isnt porn, and its not full nudity unless you’re ok with showing a little skin in an artistic manner. Whatever you’re comfortable with, we’re willing to work with you on if you’re selected. We are keeping it tasteful and sexy, not cheap and trashy.

We’re looking to have a new model and artist featured every month, so we will be constantly casting throughout the year with other opportunities including some special events planned for the future.

Caught this while out and about in downtown Toronto with my new Nikon D700 snapping pics with Kathy & Jan from ntropy.us. I was trying to hold out for the release of the long awaited and much rumored D800, but with the current situation in Japan and the production disruption of the Sendai facility where the pro bodies are made, I wasn’t prepared to wait any longer. All I can say is this camera was well worth every penny, and I’ve only had it a few days.

Super stoked to get out and shoot now that it’s getting warmer.

As I’m sure you’ve heard about the tragedy that shook Christchurch, New Zealand  on Feb. 22nd 2011. A magnitude 6.3 earthquake rocked the city just after noon, levelling buildings, toppling homes, severing communication, destroying infrastructure and taking innocent lives in a matter of a few minutes.

Amidst the chaos and carnage was our friend, and JungleXpeditions artist, J-Rolla. It was to our great relief to hear that him and his family were safe. As footage broadcast across the globe displayed the sheer devastation across the city, I just can’t imagine what it must have felt like and what life must be like down there after such a disaster.

In speaking with J a couple days back, he sent me a mix entitled “Dubwize Aftershock” which he put together in the couple days after the quake. I don’t know how he managed to put together such an amazing mix with all that chaos around him, but like the phoenix, he rose from the ashes and put together a Dubwize smackdown for the world to enjoy. I tip my hat to you sir. Much respect. He reaches out and only asks of one thing:

“If anyone overseas feels they can give anything to my earthquake stricken city for the people that, at the moment, have nothing; it would be much appreciated.”

Ok so its my birthday, and generally I’m not one who likes to receive gifts (I’m weird like that), but I woke up this morning to shouts and a had a new link from my ragga jungle souljah on the west coast, Buck Lee. These kinds of gifts I can handle and look forward to.

Buck’s been murdering dance floors for ages now on the west coast and across Canada, and this a real good example of why. Woke up today, make my coffee, threw some jungle on my sound system to get in the vibe on this freezing cold morning in Toronto.

Today’s sets were sent to me from my friend Danny @ Champion Sound. Based out of Bristol UK, Champion Sound throw some of the liveliest Ragga, DnB, Dubstep and Reggae nights the UK has to offer. Not that I’ve actually had the joy of attending a Champion Sound event, but after hearing the sets I’m about to post, and through word of mouth from my UK friends, these are THE parties to check out if you’re ever in town.

Mmm. An early birthday present to myself this year. Released in Feb 2011 these Air Force 1 High Premium LE Dark Shadow Reptile kicks are the newest addition to my rapidly expanding sneak collection. Gotta love the reptile textured leather, I know I do.

I can honestly say I never collected shoes until about a year and a half ago, now I’ve just got the itch that I cant scratch. Lord knows VISA and retailers love me.

Really can’t wait till the weather gets warmer and the winter shoe destroying weather goes away.

I was posting a few of these pics on a forum and somebody sent me a message saying they loved the pics I took at the fire, and that I should submit them to tfspics.com.

So I fired up Lightroom, dug through the 200+ pics from the 2006 blaze, picked my favs and submitted them to the site and uploaded them to my Flickr account for all to see.

For the record, all these images were captured with my old Sony Cybershot point & shoot camera, so no, you dont need a $1000+ camera to take great pics.

Looking back at pics like this really fuels my desire to get into photo journalism. I’m really looking forward to the end of this month, not only because it’s my birthday, but more so for the Nikon D700 upgrade.

So I’m off on roadtrip to the great city of Montreal tomorrow. After all the packing, unpacking, repacking and settling on what to bring, I was adding music to my mp3 player and came across some mixes from one of my favorite homegrown vinyl slayers, DJ Saigon.

For those who don’t know who who DJ Saigon is, he’s a Toronto based DJ & Promoter who’s been playin & promoting on these mean streets for the past 10 years now. Holy sh*t! THAT excited for an iPad eh?! Hahaha..wow.

Capital J, everytime I hear that name I’m instantly taken back to the late 90′s, the old Bassmint nightclub, 3 stamp in/out policy, upstairs jungle room, ravers, clubbers, dealers, high bags, sketchpads all vibing out like crazy in the haze of sweat steam and the thunderous bass pulsing through the room. It’s 4am…or wait, is it 7am? 9am? and its Monday morning…or was that a Wednesday? umm Sunday maybe?! In the next couple seconds Capital J steps up on the decks and tears the place apart for the next hour and I’m simply captivated the whole time. I don’t exactly know how I remember it so vividly, but the memory stays with me, etched into my mind.

I just found a copy of the suspected manifesto of the  Discovery Channel  hostage taker James Lee. For those of you who havent heard yet, there’s a gunman who walked into the Discovery Channel HQ in the US  earlier today and is possibly strapped with explosives and armed with a gun and has an unconfirmed amount of hostages.He released his manifesto and CNN wouldn’t show it or talk about it, so I found and posted it.

And these are his demands… (apparently)

The Discovery Channel MUST broadcast to the world their commitment to save the planet and to do the following IMMEDIATELY:

1. The Discovery Channel and it’s affiliate channels MUST have daily television programs at prime time slots based on Daniel Quinn’s “My Ishmael” pages 207-212 where solutions to save the planet would be done in the same way as the Industrial Revolution was done, by people building on each other’s inventive ideas. Focus must be given on how people can live WITHOUT giving birth to more filthy human children since those new additions continue pollution and are pollution. A game show format contest would be in order. Perhaps also forums of leading scientists who understand and agree with the Malthus-Darwin science and the problem of human overpopulation. Do both. Do all until something WORKS and the natural world starts improving and human civilization building STOPS and is reversed! MAKE IT INTERESTING SO PEOPLE WATCH AND APPLY SOLUTIONS!!!!

2. All programs on Discovery Health-TLC must stop encouraging the birth of any more parasitic human infants and the false heroics behind those actions. In those programs’ places, programs encouraging human sterilization and infertility must be pushed. All former pro-birth programs must now push in the direction of stopping human birth, not encouraging it.

3. All programs promoting War and the technology behind those must cease. There is no sense in advertising weapons of mass-destruction anymore. Instead, talk about ways to disassemble civilization and concentrate the message in finding SOLUTIONS to solving global military mechanized conflict. Again, solutions solutions instead of just repeating the same old wars with newer weapons. Also, keep out the fraudulent peace movements. They are liars and fakes and had no real intention of ending the wars. ALL OF THEM ARE FAKE! On one hand, they claim they want the wars to end, on the other, they are demanding the human population increase. World War II had 2 Billion humans and after that war, the people decided that tripling the population would assure peace. WTF??? STUPIDITY! MORE HUMANS EQUALS MORE WAR!

4. Civilization must be exposed for the filth it is. That, and all its disgusting religious-cultural roots and greed. Broadcast this message until the pollution in the planet is reversed and the human population goes down! This is your obligation. If you think it isn’t, then get hell off the planet! Breathe Oil! It is the moral obligation of everyone living otherwise what good are they??

5. Immigration: Programs must be developed to find solutions to stopping ALL immigration pollution and the anchor baby filth that follows that. Find solutions to stopping it. Call for people in the world to develop solutions to stop it completely and permanently. Find solutions FOR these countries so they stop sending their breeding populations to the US and the world to seek jobs and therefore breed more unwanted pollution babies. FIND SOLUTIONS FOR THEM TO STOP THEIR HUMAN GROWTH AND THE EXPORTATION OF THAT DISGUSTING FILTH! (The first world is feeding the population growth of the Third World and those human families are going to where the food is! They must stop procreating new humans looking for nonexistant jobs!)

6. Find solutions for Global Warming, Automotive pollution, International Trade, factory pollution, and the whole blasted human economy. Find ways so that people don’t build more housing pollution which destroys the environment to make way for more human filth! Find solutions so that people stop breeding as well as stopping using Oil in order to REVERSE Global warming and the destruction of the planet!

7. Develop shows that mention the Malthusian sciences about how food production leads to the overpopulation of the Human race. Talk about Evolution. Talk about Malthus and Darwin until it sinks into the stupid people’s brains until they get it!!

8. Saving the Planet means saving what’s left of the non-human Wildlife by decreasing the Human population. That means stopping the human race from breeding any more disgusting human babies! You’re the media, you can reach enough people. It’s your resposibility because you reach so many minds!!!

9. Develop shows that will correct and dismantle the dangerous US world economy. Find solutions for their disasterous Ponzi-Casino economy before they take the world to another nuclear war.

10. Stop all shows glorifying human birthing on all your channels and on TLC. Stop Future Weapons shows or replace the dialogue condemning the people behind these developments so that the shows become exposes rather than advertisements of Arms sales and development!

11. You’re also going to find solutions for unemployment and housing. All these unemployed people makes me think the US is headed toward more war.

Humans are the most destructive, filthy, pollutive creatures around and are wrecking what’s left of the planet with their false morals and breeding culture.

For every human born, ACRES of wildlife forests must be turned into farmland in order to feed that new addition over the course of 60 to 100 YEARS of that new human’s lifespan! THIS IS AT THE EXPENSE OF THE FOREST CREATURES!!!! All human procreation and farming must cease!

It is the responsiblity of everyone to preserve the planet they live on by not breeding any more children who will continue their filthy practices. Children represent FUTURE catastrophic pollution whereas their parents are current pollution. NO MORE BABIES! Population growth is a real crisis. Even one child born in the US will use 30 to a thousand times more resources than a Third World child. It’s like a couple are having 30 babies even though it’s just one! If the US goes in this direction maybe other countries will too!

Also, war must be halted. Not because it’s morally wrong, but because of the catastrophic environmental damage modern weapons cause to other creatures. FIND SOLUTIONS JUST LIKE THE BOOK SAYS! Humans are supposed to be inventive. INVENT, DAMN YOU!!

The world needs TV shows that DEVELOP solutions to the problems that humans are causing, not stupify the people into destroying the world. Not encouraging them to breed more environmentally harmful humans.

Saving the environment and the remaning species diversity of the planet is now your mindset. Nothing is more important than saving them. The Lions, Tigers, Giraffes, Elephants, Froggies, Turtles, Apes, Raccoons, Beetles, Ants, Sharks, Bears, and, of course, the Squirrels.

The humans? The planet does not need humans.

You MUST KNOW the human population is behind all the pollution and problems in the world, and YET you encourage the exact opposite instead of discouraging human growth and procreation. Surely you MUST ALREADY KNOW this!

I want Discovery Communications to broadcast on their channels to the world their new program lineup and I want proof they are doing so. I want the new shows started by asking the public for inventive solution ideas to save the planet and the remaining wildlife on it.

Ok, this guy’s certified nuts! See what happens when you alternate between Shark week and Nazi week and don’t add any really good new programs? I wonder what the new season of programming on Discovery World HD will be like.

My prayers are with the hostages and their families for a safe resolution to this situation.

Well when the old blog crashed I managed to recover every single post except one, the one post that had about 4,500+ views and multiple hits daily, it was none other than the RCola 171 min of Ragga entry. It really bothered me that I couldn’t recover it, the original email was long gone, and RCola & Jamie Irie were on tour in the Europe so I couldnt get it re-sent to me..oh woe is me.

Now this next one isn’t Jungle, this is a track produced by my boy Sageone with a lil help from Grizzy on the high hats & vocals from Hannah Fogel that we recorded at my house. After quite a number of versions and months of tweaking..here’s the final product, so far its got 3600 plays in less than a week, impressive. (You can download all his tunes in 320 for free off his Soundcloud)

And last but not least here’s a video from RCola & Jamie Irie in Vilnius, Lithuania on the “Irie Cola Tour” that popped off very well from what I heard, and well the video just goes to show that they know how to get down over there! Big Up!

Moments after sending this blog post out, I got a reply from Lujan in Peru, and he sent me one of his videos/tunes from down there, now my Spanish is non existent so I have no idea what they’re saying, but I really like what I heard, you be the judge.

HAHAHAHA..this one’s great for a laugh.
