My wife Diane and I were on a major road trip and one of the cities of call was Cape Cod.

In any tough market there are opportunities to be had for the savvy brokers and agents if they know where and how to look.

Sherry Chris; President and CEO of Better Homes and Gardens shares two big nuggets that they have focused on that are helping them cost costs and generate more business.

Here’s a hint … think Echo … as in the echo generation.

According to CBS’s weekly program 60 Minutes: “And whether you call them “echo boomers,” “Generation Y” or “millennials,” they already make up nearly a third of the U.S. population, and already spend $170 billion a year of their own and their parents’ money.

Some of the best marketing strategies also happen to be some of the simplest and cost effective to implement especially when they provide leverage.

After Leslie receives an email follow-up from a showing agent she replies to that agent and blind copies her seller.

Don’t let the simplicity of this strategy fool you because when you think about it … here’s the multiplier effect of that one email:

• overcomes any objections from the showing agent
• communicates to her Seller that she is working hard behind the scenes to sell the property
• cross-promotes another one of her listings which in turn could generate a sale
• shows that “other” Seller how she uses her existing inventory to cross-promote
• has now effectively communicated with three people in one email … what a time saver!

I was asked to present at the first ever Canadian ReBar Camp last week which was held in Toronto Ontario … and what a blast!!

We started talking about the importance of niche marketing and being recognized as the “go to authority”.
