it can go one way or the polar opposite with these two it seems. they are both GORGEOUS, talented and charitable beyond reason. (insert the word "ridiculously" if you feel so inclined) one could hate them for it. i choose love my dears. since i seem to be very much on the topic of love today - let's just keep going there. i am really loving Angie's return to black. that is the way i fell for her years ago. dark and mysterious. it's a bit of a stretch to call Versace "mysterious" but let's just roll with it. she looks fab. and he holds up his end of the stick. honestly. in the spirit of the day let's raise our glasses. TO LOVE! and to looking super hot being in love! OUI!

i cannot even begin to describe how upset i was at the ending and possible ramifications thereof of the last episode of Fringe this season. and so i am comforting myself here with pictures of Pacey at Cannes. i know that dear Joshua Jackson probably hates that and i am sorry. i love him and don't mean to pigeon-hole him, but it's just so perfect... all that aside - let's just look at the AMAZE gorgeousness that is Diane Kruger. mind boggling. sure it would be nice to have Calvin Klein custom make your dress - but i dare you to wear it like this. this woman is phenomenal. (and her hair is so super fantastic i want to scream) --- ok,so we love us some Kruger. but just for a moment back to Pacey... look how in love he looks gazing at her. if that doesn't melt your heart, i suggest you may be made entirely of stone in the chestular region. in a word, to describe these pics: LOVE.

ps i am so sorry to you all - most of all Elton John for the PUNishing title of this blog.

it's that time of year once more. Cannes Film Festival time. by the mere geography of it, it is SO much more stylish an event than the other festivals. it always seems that the South of France je ne sais quoi rubs off on the stars attending, and they look more relaxed and gorge than usual... there are a few ladies i'm a bit excited to see - Ms. Jolie bien sur,and Diane Kruger is a new pet fave...but i will keep mine eyes out for anyone who's looking great... ici on day one - and in fact the opening film, Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris (woody, rachel, owen wilson, paris. OUI i will see this!!) Rachel McAdams, a long time girl crush of mine - is looking particularly adorbs in Maxime Simoens. and so we begin our Cannes Cannes my dears...

ah the annual party we wish we were invited to. the Met Gala is always a visual feast - the who's who of who's fabulous... last night was no exception. fittingly, as there is an Alexander McQueen exhibit now open at the Met (yes, you bet your booties i'll be going and blogging about it), lots of ladies wore McQueen, including SJP and Karen Elson. Stella McCartney also held up strong in the showings, my favorite look being Rihanna, ROCKing a one shoulder black lace number. Blake Lively looked fab in Chanel (so much better standing alone rather than next to Karl. genius as he is, he always looks a bit like he just finished drinking a bucket of crazy). Nicole Richie looked retro glam in vintage - the detailing on the sleeves is beyond amazing. zoom in and delight.... there were loads of lovelies, but i think i have to give my favorite of the evening to Jessica Alba in Ralph Lauren. she looked absolutely stunning, like a princess in ethereal gold. just perfection. (kudos to Brad Goreski, who styled her). now that the party is over and all the afters cleaned up, time to run-not-walk and see the McQueen exhibit! that's a Met Gala we can all share!!

first and foremost - terribly sorry about the delay in posting on this! hopefully you all read my ponderings and musings on twitter and tumblr, as i was much more connected on those during the "up at 5am to watch a wedding" time frame!!! (and in all honesty - plugged in more to them in general recently...) ok - now that the apols are out of the way let's get right to it, shall we?

any one who knows me AT ALL in any way knows just how rare it is that i will rouse myself from bed at 5 am. i do not take to morning very kindly. also, though i am British to the very core of me, i didn't really get all too caught up in the pre-wedding fervor. of course i was excited and couldn't wait to see all the pomp and circumstance that my people do so well, i was just not interested in the pre-game. BUT come friday morning, april 29, i was up and ready. coffees at the ready, my sister-in-law and i sat on the couch GLUED to the telly. (ps thank you for waking me so gently H). from moment one of glimpsing Wills and Harry drive out in their car, i was swimming in it. this is truly the thing of fairy tales. every last detail was perfect. Catherine choosing to wear Alexander McQueen was spot on perfect. the dress, designed by Sarah Burton (who shares a name with my niece) was one of the most beautiful things i have ever seen. not many of us girls have the option to have our "something borrowed" be a vintage Cartier tiara from our mum-in-law, Her Majesty the Queen. but if one can, one should, i say. Wills was stunning in his Irish Guard uniform, every inch the dashing Prince. maid of honor Pippa and best man Harry stood their own ground, which was not an easy task, considering. Pippa's dress also falls squarely into the category of "one of the most beautiful things i've ever seen" and was also from McQueen. (huzzah to you Middleton girls!) she looked drop dead amazing. the whole thing was just glorious and beautiful. there are too many moments to detail each one, but the moment that started the tear drops really coming for me was when William first got to see his bride, his wife, his Princess, his Queen, and he mouthed the words "you look beautiful". that took this huge spectacle, as beautiful and full of history past and future as it was, and scaled it all back to what it is truly about. a man and woman who love each other, made a vow, and will now spend their lives together. i love England, i love things royal, i love the history and the pomp, but most of all i love love. may you live happily ever after Prince William and Princess Catherine.

yesterday's weather sent that happy little jolt zipping through my veins for the first time in months. i LOVE the end of winter. cold is mine enemy. i could go on and on, but it would just get boring. and so, on to SPRING and it's dear friend SUMMER!! hakuna matata darlings. in keeping with this joy - Target is giving us a spring offering of a Calypso collab, hitting stores and online May 1. as one of my rich inner lives involves me spending a long languid life on an exotic beach, this is perfect for me. rather conveniently, i do have a honeymoon to go on... so i will be finding a number of these pieces extremely necessary. it's a large range, (much like the Liberty line a few months back) with home goods, kids clothes and some great pieces for we ladies. a lot of the items are silk and linen, so you're getting something worth your while - and at a price point topping out at $79, fear not the wallet strain! sweet spring satisfaction.

OH OH Dannijo!!!! as they say, different strokes for different folks… Vogue is the fashion lover’s bible. period. but not every single piece can rock every reader’s boat. Candy Pratts Price put together a FAB list of her “most desirable accessories” which was like a dreamy walk through a visual candy store. LOVE. however not all of the items would really work in my life. with one exception - this AMAZING Dannijo ring. this thing is all out BRILLS. available in June and on my finger immediately thereafter.

if you are anything like me, you may have suffered an overdose on the whole designer/high street collaboration thing. like any vice, at first you just can't get enough...and then it gets out of hand. such was the case with me and the myriad of collabs being hurled at us at a pace so rapid it was impossible to digest. i staggered away, dazed. after a moment to catch my breath, i have been roped back in. Uniqlo is doing three collaboration collections this spring and i must admit i'm feeling a little bit giddy about the Charlotte Ronson pieces. any piece that you look at and can immediately imagine spending an immense amount of time wearing is a must-buy in my book. also in my book is "be mindful of your budget miss thing" so with prices around $29.99 there really is no downside! the collection hits stores May 5. most likely i will hit the stores that day too.

the thrill of getting asked to marry someone. it's a DOOZER. truly. then there is the planning the wedding part which can be equal parts thrilling and titanic, epic anxiety inducing. if you are like me, to escape the panic part you focus on the fun part. DRESSING UP. even that can be overwhelming (i'm still wrestling with some accessories). thus, it's kind of super fantastic that Shopbop, one of the best shopping websites ever, has now launched a bridal boutique. hello amaze earrings by Dannijo. hello adorbs crystal headband. as a major aside, maybe even more fun than shopping wedding? shopping honeymoon!!!! and yes they have that too. "hello lover" i say to thee, sweet floppy sun hat...

of course they have GORGE dresses and shoes as well as lingerie. there is a lot of wedding "fromage" in the world, so this is well worth sussing out for the hip bride out there!!

firstly my dears - i am BACK. have been up to my eyeballs in a J Mendel event that left me literally brainless at the end of each day. tis now complete, wildly successful, and i am back here where i belong. i imagine you have been following all of the fashion news - shows happening 'round the globe (sorry i did not get to write on them); the Oscars.... Mila Kunis gets my number one spot on the list for that.... hands down....

and then, there is the John Galliano news. this makes me beyond sad. i will not dignify his behavior by putting a link or even writing what he said. suffice it to say it was repulsive and in no context or circumstance acceptable. if you are not aware of what happened, he went on two separate anti-semetic rants in Paris. he has since been fired from Dior and is facing criminal charges. this is a man who is a genius at his craft. he is one of the most talented and creative designers of our generation. sadly, that now stands a side note to this recent behavior. no one, regardless of who they are (or who they imagine themselves to be), has the right to speak such slander to another person. what is even more upsetting to me is that this venom is coming from a very eccentric gay man. one would think he would be aware of the hurt caused by misguided judgement from ignorant people. i'm more than certain at one point he was made fun of or harassed for being "different". we are all human. we are all different. we are all equal.

there is a level of division in fashion, certainly. it is "exclusive". who gets to go to the shows, who sits front row, who shops high end, who shops high street? but really at the end of the day, fashion is an equal playing field. it is about each and every one of us wanting and deserving to look fabulous and feel beautiful. that beauty starts inside. when the veneer cracks, we are all left with simply who we are. that's really all there is to say.

imagine if you will a Benjamin Button scenario. your beautiful granny is aging backwards. she now looks like a model. she is draped in a mash-up of prints that only the sublimely fabulous can pull off. you are not quite sure if it is good or not, until you look closely and see how mind-blowing GORGE these prints and fabrics are. at this point you're blinded by the genius of it. you are now owned by these clothes. there is nothing left to do but gaze lovingly at just how beautiful and bizarrely perfect it is to place one fabric next to the other. this, my dears, was the presentation at Suno.

file this under "the-e-stylist would wear all of this DVF collection right now. immediately or if possible, sooner". every single piece could merge seamlessly into my wardrobe, and it is so utterly perfectly wearable. i'm already imagining one million and four different ways to style these pieces. there is just the right amount of bohemian je m'en fous and just the right amount of disco to make me swoon. i'm honestly a bit delirious from it all - but i am in fact thinking straight when i tell you that i'm making shopping lists for this stuff....LOVES. IT. to be fair, unless i'm suddenly nominated for an Oscar i will probs forgo the gowns. (they are disco-y delicious but alas, i'm not walking a red carpet at the mo...) that seems to be the only exception. the rest of it is fair game and you best believe i am making my wallet do some yoga to get ready for this. ps - so glad ms. vf recovered from her accident enough to enjoy her show.

Jason Wu. at this point, the name alone brings images of gorge popping into the mind. this collection kept that little ball rolling. the construction is impeccable, the silhouettes are perfection. obvs, there are dresses that make a girl try desperately to come up with a place to go so that she can wear one. (that may or may not be what i am doing at this very moment in time) what REALLY got me giddy however were the looks with pants. a bit more useful in one's every day life - without sacrificing even one bit of FAB. don't even need to come up with a special event to wear this - just put it on and feel amazing and go about your business. LOVE.

oh dear readers how i have missed ye. i have been up to my ears (actually far above, drowning) in a J Mendel event i'm working on. barely a moment to think about breathing, and mind so melted that coming up with words to set to page - rendered impossible. BUT i have a day free today and thus we are reunited. so let's get to it!!!
New York Fashion Week... our darling NYFW... come and gone. ladies left with memories and sore feet from running around town in heels in questionable weather. overall, i was not particularly overwhelmed. it was one of those seasons where things just looked a bit the "same as it ever was". there were of course a few exceptions and i've decided to do a "faves" selection of the shows, so read on my dears. they are coming your way today. xoox

last night the winds kicked in, the temperature dropped. but the show must go on! (and the cashmere and faux fur) DANNIJO kicked off NYFW with a low key super cool presentation of their fall 2011 collection. they took over a gallery in Chelsea with an amazing set that was like a wild west log cabin inhabited by crazy chic girls in a mish mash of old west meets 20s glamour. sounds odd but they totally nailed it. the new collection is gorgeous - strong, bold shapes, intertwined with delicate chains and loaded with Swarovski crystal elements. i spied at least one ring and several bracelets that may be sharing my world sometime soon!!

the color keeps on splashin' on the red carpets this season. second to the Oscars, my heart goes to the SAG awards. they feel more legit from an actor's standpoint, and i honestly feel like all the ladies kick it up a notch in how they dress. like a full dress rehearsal for the Oscar red carpet, if you will...

the ladies who ruled the carpet like queens? in no particular order, just rolling out of my head as they come -

Tina Fey nailed it in Oscar de la Renta. i love this funny lady. she had me at Mean Girls. somehow (perhaps you need a consistent stylist Tina? i am so here for you...) she is a bit hit or miss on the carpets. (obvs not in the acting that gets her there, because lady is on a LOT of red carpets!) this one - HIT. she looks crackin.

Sofia Vergera...sigh. my GOD this woman is beautiful. it's almost too much. it's almost absurd. add to it that she is absolutely hilarious, and it pretty much just blows your mind. so what's a woman like that to do? pour herself into this gorge cobalt Roberto Cavalli dress and go and explode hearts and minds. that's all. just another day at the (not)office....

Natalie Portman is one of the prettier human beings on the planet. add to it that she has the lovely glow of carrying a wee one, being in love, and oh yes...the fact that she is blasting away all competition this award season... not a whole lot of pomp and circumstance needed. a simple but perfectly embellished Azzaro column dress will do the trick.

lastly but never ever leastly. my current major girl crush - Mila Kunis. love her, love the Alexander McQueen dress. love the simple but absolutely perfect in every way hair and make up. apparently all i have to say about this is "LOVE". so there it is.

next stop - Oscars -- woot woooot!

to introduce you to my new style persona. the slightly reclusive, distantly european royal, glamourous starlet. i wander 'round my estate all day, dressed to perfection in the event that anything spectacular might happen at any given moment. these are the clothes i will be wearing. this is what Elie Saab's couture collection did to me. my initial reaction was just being knocked breathless at the sheer loveliness of it all. but it's impossible (at least for yours truly) not to begin forming very specific and detailed fantasies when things are this beautiful. so if you will pardon me, i must get back to my little dream world...
