The new Spring/Summer Collection 2010 combines the typical Wundervoll understatement with new impulses and trends that emphasize strong, self-confident femininity with exciting contours and dynamic forms. “Each new collection is something special to us”, says label founder Matthias Jaschke. “For the Spring/Summer Collection 2010, we stay true to our demands of clear designs and fine details, while setting new trends with innovative, sustainable materials.”

Exotic “African tribal art” and the “art deco style” form the source of inspiration for the new Wundervoll collection, which combines the elegance of form with precious materials and the sensuality of these themes. The geometric surfaces are an attractive eye-catcher, accentuated with piping trim that create structure and lend the design particularly vibrant impulses.

One new feature of this collection is the material Biophyl. Biophyl is obtained from a renewable resource (corn) and during manufacturing it produces an extremely low level of CO2 emissions (63% less than with nylon). The slightly sheer, net-like material is pleasantly soft on the skin and extremely stretchable, which makes it quite comfortable to wear and at the same time very easy to care for. The linear and dynamic shapes of the Soft Bra with its optional halter neck, wireless Triangle Bra and Balconette Bra with straps that can criss-cross, as well as the French knickers, hipsters, and the characteristic Wundervoll high-waist panties, all accentuate the embroidered diamond pattern.

Further models such as the Soft Bra, Shell Bra and Bra Top, as well as various panty designs are all produced from wonderfully fine silk jersey that provides luxurious sheen and beautiful draping, and all of them can be mixed and matched with one another. Luxurious stretch-woven silk, one-of-a-kind prints and attention to detail in design; the launch of local lingerie label KU SHU SHU targets the discerning woman who loves classically beautiful lingerie. KU SHU SHU – which means “it is hot” in the African Xhosa language – is the brainchild of Sydneysider Judy Anderson who has over 20 years global experience in lingerie design and construction, with her designs being sold in department stores in London, Sydney and the USA.

Judy nurtured a desire to start her own boutique lingerie and loungewear label for many years and finally, in 2010, that dream is realized, with KU SHU SHU in-store in March. The label’s ethos and design draws upon Judy’s passions for art and literature and her obsession with the history of garment construction.

Heavily influenced by her favorite eras – opulent 18th century costume, the 1920s jazz age and the hourglass 1950s New Look – KU SHU SHU contains unique pieces, created for the wearer to cherish for many years.

KU SHU SHU’s defining inspiration is the beauty of nature, a concept that has been brewing since Judy’s childhood spent horse-riding outdoors and observing her mother’s bountiful home garden. This interest was furthered through extensive overseas travel across five continents.

Then a stroll though her local neighborhood – where she stopped to admire a heritage cottage and its beautiful spring garden full of flowers – crystallized that vision into the four ranges per year that will mirror nature’s seasons.

“Nature’s clever use of color always amazes me,” says Judy, “as it tends to break all the rules. Colors that should seemingly clash somehow work together to create fabulous floral fashion.”

To this end Judy has created her own original limited edition floral prints; Winter Magnolia and Autumn Rose include sensual digital placement print camisoles that can be worn as lingerie, outerwear or sleepwear.

“I love to design pieces that are special, collectible but still highly wearable,” continues Judy. “The Autumn Rose and Winter Magnolia prints are designed to evoke a feeling, capturing the joy I felt when I gazed at that beautiful garden.”

Also launching are two classic silk collections – Ballerina Pleat and Silk Tales – which include bras, bikinis, G-string, corset, chemise and two camisoles. Available in the easy-to-coordinate colours of black, corsetry pink and blue steel, these wearable pieces are made unique with mesh frills, velvet bows and pleating details. Both are innately feminine collections which will appeal to the fashion forward as well as the vintage lover, and the gorgeous silk fabric used flatters all figures and allows for a comfort of wear perfect for dressing up and lounging around.

The bras are currently available in sizes 10 – 14 B/C/D and the other pieces in S/M/L, with further sizes to be rolled out with future collections.

A beautiful preview of this summer’s Andres Sarda lingerie collection – available in stores in the next few weeks. As always, an extremely intimate and feminine collection with matching photography. We see the return of some classic Andres Sarda detailing, but with new eye-catchers like the bralette and the gorgeous jewelry-detailing; the label doesn’t let us down at all.

With the growing popularity of burlesque stars like Dita von Teese and Immodesty Blaize, many of us are wanting to create a similar look at home with our lingerie collection. When was the last time you made time for a proper bra fitting? This is a crucial step in maintaining a healthy lingerie wardrobe, and is particularly important if it has been more than one year, 10 pounds, or one pregnancy since your last fitting. It’s like getting a routine exam at the doctor – it can be annoying and uncomfortable disrobing in front of a stranger, but it’s crucial if you want to feel (and look!) your best. For a quick checkup you can do right now, ask yourself the following questions:

1. Do you have impressive cleavage? Unless you are wearing a bra style specifically made for creating cleavage (like a push-up or plunge bra), your breasts really shouldn’t be shoved together. This is a common mistake because so many lingerie models themselves are actually wearing bras that do this, so it’s hard for the average consumer to know that it’s wrong! The underwire and center gore of your bra should sit against your breastbone, separating your breasts. If it doesn’t, your cups are likely too small. Cleavage is great, just make sure you get it the right way – with a well-fitting bra in style made for this effect.
2. Have your straps fallen down today? Something is wrong. There is a chance that the solution is as simple as tightening your straps, but if this is a common problem for you, it is more likely that your band is too big. When your band isn’t tight enough, it can ride up your back, decreasing strap tension and resulting in the annoying and embarrassing strap fall. Try a bra with a smaller band size and see if that helps (and remember, for every band size you go down you must go up a cup letter to maintain the same cup fit).
3. Does your bra create unflattering back fat? Your band probably doesn’t fit. When a band fits correctly (i.e. when it fits snugly and remains parallel to the floor throughout the day), back fat greatly diminishes. Excess bulges can be caused by a band that is too tight or too loose. A good bra fitter can help you determine which problem you have.
4. Is your underwire poking you? The cup is probably the wrong size. An underwire will poke your breast tissue if the cup is too small, and will poke your underarm if the cup is too large. It is also a possibility that this cup simply isn’t the right shape for you – try different styles and brands.
5. Are your breasts falling out the bottom of your cups? Your band is too big.
6. Are you suffering from a double-boob effect? Your cups are probably too small.
7. Do your cups wrinkle? Your cups are probably too big.
8. Are you just plain uncomfortable? Are you counting the minutes until you can take your bra off? A well-fitting bra is not uncomfortable. Your breasts are supported and nothing pinches, pokes, or rubs. If you fling your bra off the moment you get home, it doesn’t fit. If you can’t determine the problem from the examples above, a qualified bra fitter can help you. Stay away from mall chains and be sure to visit a good boutique or reputable store with a wide range of sizes and certified bra fitters.

We would like to take this opportunity to confirm that the Eternal Spirits Nottingham retail boutique has now closed for business. Susi Henson, Eternal Spirits designer, would like quash any rumours that the Eternal Spirits brand has ceased trading.

Celebrating over 8 successful years in business the award winning corsetry, lingerie & bridal label has no plans to cease trading and will be now be operating from a new Nottingham based Atelier which will act as both head office for the brand and a couture house on an appointment only basis. The brand will continue to design and produce stunning corsetry, lingerie, bridal wear and evening wear collections for their customers, on-line boutique and for their independent retail stockists based around the globe.

Susi Henson made the decision to close the retail boutique, and to part from the company that owned the retail boutique to restructure the brand and focus attentions on growing the Eternal Spirits brand across the UK and internationally where there is huge demand for the brand.

2010 is set to be an exciting time for Susi and will see the brand grow further on an international level, Susi has been offered to design for several stage and screen projects, and she will continue to make bespoke pieces for her “A” list fans including Girls Aloud and Leona Lewis. Eternal Spirits are continued to be adored by UK & International press and stylists, recently receiving critical acclaim for their SS 2010 collection (photos attached to this post are from the SS2010 line!) listed within The Independent ‘50 Best Lingerie Brands’ around.
