Karl Lagerfeld has once again played the role of director,

releasing an 18-minute short starring Keira Knightley and entitled Once Upon a Time.

The film was created to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the very first Chanel boutique,

which is located in Deauville Normandy, and revolves round the first day of the store's business.

Knightly - who is currently the face of Chanel's Coco Mademoiselle fragrance campaign -

plays the role of the Coco Chanel, acting alongside models Stella Tennant and Brad Kroenig,

his son Hudson, and up-and-coming actress Tallula Harlech.

The film will be screened at Chanel's Singapore cruise-collection show later this month.

Such a lovely short film, exploring an integral part of the history of Coco Chanel,

and Chanel as we know it today. The film i think is simply beautiful, and as a shopkeeper myself,

has me looking back on the first days of opening Leuie,

and the mixture of emotions that one feels—excitement, anxiousness, joy, love.

Once upon a time...

There was a young man who left his home and his family’s decorative arts studio in the south of France for Paris

(the most romantic city in the world), where he met the woman and design partner of his dreams.

After studying at the Atelier du Louvre and the École Camondo, Patrick Gilles had learned all he needed to know about the decorative arts; he went to work for the French designer Christian Liaigre,where he met Dorothee Boissier, a native Parisian from a family of art dealers. Gilles went on to become the head of Liaigre’s design studio, and Boissier went to the offices of another French designer, Philippe Starck, where she honed her skills as an interior architect. The dynamic couple started Gilles and Boissier in 2004 and began slaying the world with their designs of exotic restaurants around the world (Buddahkan in New York, Cha Cha Moon in London, and various Hakkasans, including the recently opened one in San Francisco). Eventually, they came to work on their own castle (a quintessential 19th-century Parisian flat); a series of tall, elegant, white spaces, where their backgrounds and experiences are merged seamlessly—we’d like to think forever.

I know we have all seen this beautiful Parisian apartment by Gilles et Boissier over and over...

but when I saw these images I fell in love all over again and again! I love the simple clean lines mixed with the details of the doors,

walls and the mirrors. The dark wood. The white sofa.The greige rug.

Everything it's so perfect! Love. Love. Love.

Has anybody noticed the influx of inspiration rooms with oversized lighting lately?

We’re seeing everything from jumbo floor lamps, to clusters of huge bulbed pendants in our feed.

Getting the new look in your own home is easy! Try one enormous pendant,for example over a dining

table or a pair of large pendants over a kitchen island,but there are so many other places to install

oversized pendants in your home: over desks, entryway tables or

even between a pair of chairs in the living room; the possibilities are endless!

I think these oversized pendants play with the idea of a more fun and not so serious approach to design,

and i am definitely in Love!

On one of the remotest islands on our planet, tens of thousands of baby albatrosses lie dead on the ground, their bodies filled with plastic from the Pacific Garbage Patch. Returning to the island over several years, our team is witnessing the cycles of life and death of these birds as a multi-layered metaphor for our times. With photographer Chris Jordan as our guide, we walk through the fire of horror and grief, facing the immensity of this tragedy—and our own complicity—head on. And in this process, we find an unexpected route to a transformational experience of beauty, acceptance, and understanding.

The film is 'connecting' us in ways that are so necessary and missing

The video tells a shameful tale - one of many that can be told about our race and our clearly unsustainable practices.

It seems that "no more plastics" is the answer. But what is the next-best-answer? It can be difficult to know where to begin and how to have an affect. Thank you to the makers of this film for taking a step in the right direction - for doing all that was possible and what probably at some points seemed like the impossible.

I feel my responsibility as a blogger to publicize, promote and share this hight quality of work. Thank you for this incredible but heartbreaking movie - Congratulations to the MIDWAY Team.
