The show was on track until yesterday, when an unfortunate accident involving a family member, a beer, and Amanda's workstation occurred. Needless to say, I'm currently writing to you from a borrowed netbook, and my computer is kaput for the forseeable future. So please forgive me for postponing yet again the new reveal of the show. I do promise that it will be new and shiny, and better than ever... if I can ever get it off the ground.

Thank you loyal fans for sticking with me in these times of stress, trouble and absence. And please forgive any typos, I have gigantic paws and this is an itty bitty keyboard.
Your humble producer,

I'm frustrated to be writing this message, but I think its for the best. Word Salad will be going on an extended sabbatial, until its hosts and creator can sort out their lives and where she fits. Let me make a promise to you that this is by no means the end of Word Salad. Unlike the times before when we've said "we'll be back, better than ever." This time, its the truth.

So when will we return? The July 23.
How will this look when we're back? We don't quite know yet.
Well then, what do we know? That Word Salad will be back and more fabulous than ever.
And that's a promise from everyone involved in Word Salad.

We adore you all! See you in July!

Excellent Show Tonight

We hope you had a chance to listen live, but if you didn't, the podcast will be up on Thursday.

As a teaser, here is this week's for surviving the zombie apocalypse (or as we like to call it, the Zompocalypse)

-Until later in the week.

No More Excuses

Its time for a new episode people!

After what we will call a long vacation, Word Salad is back and ready for action.
Join us tonight (Monday) from 6-8 EST, or later in the week for the podcast upload.

Listen Live: HERE'

Movies, Music, and Mayhem.

Amanda and Hillary were in the studio this week talking smack about Miss Plastic Hungary and John and Kate, Roman Polanski, and the Aspirational Peace Prize. We also delved into the upcoming movie scene, checking out trailers and talking about movies like Pirate Radio (formerly called--and my favorite title "The Boat that Rocked!"), the Indian film Aladin, and the new Christmas Carol. Robert called in with his review of Ruben Fleischer's new film Zombieland and gave us yet another excellent tip to surviving the Zombie Apocalypse. And to top it all off, the show ended on a high note with the Papa Salad's Joke of the Week. Due to some technical difficulties in the studio, the show won't be up online this week, but we will have all the kinks worked out by next week.

Last night I was able to get into the studio and test out the new surroundings! We broadcast, mostly music, for a little under two hours. Needless to say, it was awesome being back in the real studio.
We hope this message finds you well, and happy.

The Ladies of Word Salad would like to take this opportunity to thank you for spending nearly a year with us! We're still going strong! We have to apologize that the most recent three shows have had some severe technical difficulties. We are working hard to recover the files and make them available to you. We are also in the process of getting new and more recent material up, too!

Also, over the next few months, we are hoping to make some improvements to the show, so that it is more fun for everyone.

We want your input, so comment or email us with any ideas you might have. We love hearing from you!

Until next time!
-WS Crew

The ladies of late night (but mostly Amanda) apologize for the delay of last week's episode.

Soon! we promise.

18 The Internet Boulevard

Recorded: 3-27-2009.

Download this Episode

So tonight is a little different. We set out with a goal of talking about social networking sites and what effect they have of actual inter-personal communication. Amanda in the studio again joined by Emily and Amy. In the meantime, there will be a new set of Hiatus Playlists (in a new format), and hopefully the show from last week will finally be uploaded. We've had numerous problems in the studio with the recordings, but we're hoping to have it all fixed by the time we come back.

Hope everyone is doing well, and we'll be back to rock your world on March 27.

Later skaters!
~ The Ladies of Late Night

17 Lost to the Ages

Recorded: March 6, 2009

This episode has been lost to the ages. Somehow the recording equipment didn't work (again) and the show didn't finalize. We have a disk. We have an awesome show. But it can never be heard because the data didn't finalize. Needless to say, we are not pleased.

Highlights included the ladies talking about oversexualizing children, in response to the new Dora the Explorer silhouette that was released by Nickelodeon and Mattel. It reminded us of the peep show where you pay a dollar to see a naked lady dance behind a curtain. Anyway, if that was the case her name needed to change to "Dora the sexplorer." More than a bit upsetting. They did eventually release the image (after the show was recorded) and she is not as slutty as we thought, but we still can't understand--other than to make a few dollars--why the change.

The Dora silhouette ** Newly released image

Also: The confusion of the "east" and the "west" geographically, as explained by XKCD

16 Halfsies

Recorded: Friday, February 27, 2009

Download this Episode

Like the awesomeness that was last week's show, this week, we come offering you half of what we actualy talked about. It was just me in the studio for much of the show, although I was joined by Emily later, and toward the very end by a silent Joe.

As per usual, the studio gave us some grief, so we only have half of the show for your listening pleasure.

What you missed if you didn't hear us live: Knight Rider Theme Song, Amanda's rambling, and other nonsensical musings.

In the available section, talk ranges from Clarissa explains it all, Amanda's love of men from 70s and 80s TV, favorites, the atrocity of Lady Ga Ga, the glory of David Bowie, WTMD mixtape Thursdays, and the exploits of someone who has given up speaking for Lent.

Also:

Two ways to make life better

Schadenfreude

Puppies

Emily would like to note: TARGET, March 17, Best of Scott Walker, Boy Child for $11.98

Epic Fail

All systems were apparently down or failing as a full house showed up for a recording this week's show. Along with regulars, Emily, Becky, and Amanda, we had Julie, Travis, Mike, Lindsay, Meg and Joe...leading to an excellent night of discussion which you won't be able to hear unless you heard us live. The studio disintegrated before our eyes, the recording stopped working, as well as the miniplug and about everything else. Spirits were high, but the gods of the studio weren't having any of it.

Word Salad wil be back next week (and I promise it will all work).
