Cannibis is not a drug it is a medicinal HERB and should be treated as such, and sold in herbal shops along side St John's Wort, dandlion root, and echinechia.
Cannibis is here to stay, legal or not we are going to smoke it, and those that are sick and need it the most should be able to access it without fear of reprisal. They should not be forced to go to the streets to obtain their meds. This could be a dangerous situation, especially if their "dealer" is a bit unscrupulous and takes advantage of the situation.
MAKE IT LEGAL, MAKE IT SAFE!!

Hi, i literally just made this account to comment as i in fact to live in idaho. Now the laws here are ridiculous, no doubt, and the cops, yeah there pretty persistent about imprisoning harmless offenders. But hey, as long as you dont do it in public you will be pretty alright. Do it in your own house and your own property only. They really can't do anything that way. Just keep it in private and you'll be fine

I find this case abhorrent, No one should be put in jail for a plan EVER (with the exception of the whores who sell homeopathy water and sugar pills they should goto jail!)

we need to legalize Cannabis use for ALL citizens over 18.

Joe,with all due respect, there are some things here that are either not known,or omitted. Specifically, the suspects actions during the stop.

ANYONE whose EVER dealt with/had run-in's with,or even SEEN a Officer knows 2 things inherently.1-they're armed 2-don't argue w/the guy holding a gun. That being said, the suspect took His own life in their hands when they ignored this well-known rule.Being that He was in "the ghetto" He should've KNOWN That rule.
Now,from the officers stand-point.
Regardless of WHERE you stop a vehicle, there are several things You NEVER let a suspect do.EVER.
1-Reach into car when removed. Why are You doing that?Well,I have You at gunpoint,You're being stopped for a crime,In a High-crime area. You MUST be reaching to either continue a crime, hide evidence of a crime,or a weapon. I am positive the officer gave clear, concise, easy to follow instructions. He wasn't placed in "Felony arrest" Position *face down/ass up/hands out" as the officer most likely didn't have the wherewithal to do so,or the area available. It doesn't state whether or not the individual was "Out of his car' at the time, but it DOES state that the individual refused to follow directives/orders, and reached down inside his vehicle.WHAT does the officer do?WAIT til a weapon is proffered in hand/in action? Not.That is NOT How one becomes a "old n bold" officer.
It seems as if the suspect made some poor choices, and in doing so,left the choices up to the officers, who erred on the side of caution, and fired enough rounds to negate the perceived threat.See,theres the "rub' as it were. PERCEIVED THREAT.Point blank,if a cop says "Show Me Your hands" do it.If not,Ya liable to get shot.Ya already refused to pull over, drove all erratic.Wth should the officer think?
Tasers-only deployable in certain situations, and they don't always work.A person "in vehicle" and more than 5' away renders a taser useless unless door is open and You have 3/4's of the person visible.Taser's are unreliable and in my opinion, last resort.
Chemical agents. Leaves the hands still able to grasp/use a weapon of some type, which CAN be as simple as a ink pen.

I have to disagree w/ya on this one Joe.The dude did wrong, period, and sadly, stupidity in this case was fatal.

I am a MMJ user/proponent and former 1st responder in the Medical field. I've worked with officers from multiple jurisdictions and offices. I am in no way, shape, nor form a fan of L.E. and it's illegal crackdown on legit users. That being said, this case was a study in poor judgement of the one who was stopped, and left the officer no choice. Now,what would've been said if the officer HADN'T shot and the guy came up w/a weapon, shot the cop. We both know what would've been said and it would've been fecal punditry,no?

We can only "win" our argument for legalization of Marijuana if We know what the rules are. Knowing Your opponents constraints and how they operate is paramount.Study the officers, their policies, their administration, and in those things, We find the keys to dealing with them, and winning..

I am in one of the few towns in the U.S. where ALL of our dispensaries were raided, one will be opening back up in a few weeks. Why?Cops did bad when they investigated it,falsified evidence. How did it get found out?Knowing how they operate!
Good story, but shame the guy couldn't follow simple directions.A few years in the Pen is less than paying with Your life!

I agree, it is those that think they can circumvent the law and get away with it that make the rest of us that are law abiding citizens look bad. No wonder we can't get it legalized. Since cannibis already had pretty negative connotations already, things like this don't help our cause at all.
My advice: follow the law, know that you can get busted, and follow the law, educate those that need to be educated and for pete's sake FOLLOW THE LAW!!

These federal thugs look like the SS descending on dispensaries with masks and automatic weapons to take medicine from those who are sick. Rather than to go after bankers who launder the billions of dollars that is made yearly by the Mexican drug cartels they go after legitimate businesses that pay federal, state, and local taxes and that contribute to their communities. This forces patients to deal with the most violent criminals in the hemisphere that federal agents have armed with over 2000 high powered weapons during Fast and Furious. The government brings increased violence to our communities by supporting the gang bangers and sends a message to our young that our federal government is not worthy of the trust of its citizens. I am ashamed of the actions of my congressman and do not believe that his vote reflects the concerns of my community.

yes it will be interesting to see just how he handles the cannibis issue. Will he address it in some manner or will he sweep it under the rug like so many others as well has himself have done in the past?

First of all sanyars as far as I can see nothing you have said has been deleted, and as for marijuana being addictive that is a flat out lie. I have smoked for over 30 years total smoking every day an ounce to an ounce and a half a week, during those years I have quit cold turkey for months sometimes years at a time before starting up smoking again without any withdrawals like you would get from drugs. Yeah most street dealers who sell weed sell other drugs but most marijuana being sold in the USA is grown here not from Mexico or Columbia or other countries( they prefer selling heroin, cocaine, crack etc more money to be made) .Old hippie gives accurate and informed information based on honest facts. Maybe if you're so against marijuana you should stop posting on a site that is pro marijuana since your going to reject anything said here. Maybe you can be Obama's poster boy...Otherwise quit shooting down the people who use this site to stay informed on the honest and correct facts on medical marijuana!! p.s. sorry for poor and bad written post lack of sleep and meds lol but I had to say something!!
