When I started the Ancient Observer, I was totally new to blogging. It was imperative that I get to learn the basics, there were so much things I had to understand and learn to do.

But then, after exposing myself to a number of blogs and through reading numerous novice guides, I was able to somehow get an idea of how blogs work, experience it myself and see its wonders in a different light, in a much more significant perspective.

I’m still nowhere close from being a problogger, but I am learning with each passing day. I know that somehow, someday in the future, Id be able to proudly identify myself as one.

Minsan sa buhay ko (at kahit hanggang ngayon) pinangarap ko ring maging isang writer. Kapag lumaki kang kasa kasama ang sandamakmak na libro, imposibleng hindi mo makilala at hindi maging idol ng buhay mo ang mga pinakamalulufhet na writers ng mundo, na kahit matagal ng kinain ng lupa ang mga katawan ay patuloy pa ring binababasa ng mga bata at matatanda. At mas lalo sa panahon ngayon na kung sinu-sinung mga writers na ang lumalabas kung saan saan, mahirap bilanggin kung gaano kadami na ang mga manunulat na nakakapagiwan ng kani-kanilang inspirational stories at pananaw sa buhay. Pero sa kanilang lahat, hindi ko maaring makalimutan ang mga salita, aral at kwento na napulot ko kila Edgar Allan Poe, J.K. Rowling, Charles Dickens, Bob Ong, Paulo Coelho, Nicholas Sparks, John Grisham at Dan Brown.

Writing is a form of free expression. Para saken,  hindi importante kung gaano kahusay ang writing skills mo, kung gaano kalalim ang vocabulary mo, kung gaano ka katinik sa grammar,  o kung ilang seminars at workshops sa Creative Writing ang nakuha mo. At mas lalong hindi ganun kahalaga kung gaano karami ang maiimpluwensyahan ng mga sinulat mo. Hanggat nagagawa mong sabihin ang nasasaloob mo sa pagagamitan ng pagsusulat, pwede mo nang tawagin ang sarili mong isang writer, at mangarap na balang araw, kahit papano, na mababasa ng mas maraming tao ang kung anu man ang tumatakbo sa loob ng utak mo.

Kasama sa mga pangarap ko nung bata ang maging isang anime character. Haha! Nakakatawa pero sigurado ako na majority sa mga tao ang nangarap na maging katulad ng mga favorite anime o video game character nila, kahit saglit lang sa tanang buhay nila. Hindi ko matandaan kung sinu sinu ang mga pinangarap kong maging katulad noon, pero kung nakapulot siguro ako ng magic lamp at nagkaron ng three wishes dati, malamang nasabi ko sa Genie ang lines na katulad neto:

“Genie, gawin mo kong si Son Goku!”

At biglang lumaki ang mga muscles ko, tumayo ang mga buhok ko, at ako ay naging isang Super Saiyan. Kame…hame..wave!!!

Ewan ko kung anu ang pumasok sa isip ko pero minsan binalak kong mag-aral ng Law. Siguro sa kakabasa ko ng mga libro ni John Grisham at sa pag-uudyok ng makulit na professor ko sa Eco (na sobrang bilib ata sken, idol ata ako haha) sumagi sa isipan ko na sumabak sa Law School. Nagresearch ako kahit papano, pero narealize ko ren kagad na hindi para saken ang propesyon na yun. Hindi ako masipag mag-aral,  at ayokong masayang ang oras at pera ng mga nagpapaaral saken para sa mga bagay na hindi ko nman talaga kaylangan. Magaling lang ako makipagtalo at makipagargumento sa mga kung anu anong issues at kadramahan ng mundo, pero ang maging isang lawyer, ay nasa dulo pa talaga ng priority list ko.

Pangarap kong maging isang Teacher. Isa talaga ang pagtuturo sa mga bagay na inaasam kong gawin, at hindi ako papayag na mabura sa mundo hanggat hindi ko natutupad ang pangarap na to. Lumaki akong batid ang kahalagahan ng edukasyon sa sibilisasyon ng tao, at dakila ang tingin ko sa mga teachers na sa kabila ng mababang compensation at kakulangan ng benefits , ay nananatili pa ring tapat sa propesyon ng pagtuturo. Kung tutuusin, sapat ang units ng Education sa TOR ko para pumasok sa academe. At marami talaga sa mga nakakakilala sken ang nagpapapansin (haha!) at tumatawag skin ng Sir *insert my real surname here*! Pero sa tingin ko, hindi pa ito ang tamang oras para sa mga bagay na yan . Marami pa kong dapat matutunan, at darating din nmn tayo jan.

Kung itatanong mo sakin kung pinangarap kong maging isang Game Master, magiging kalokohan naman yata kung sasabihin kung hindi. Pero hindi ko ren talaga masyadong matandaan kung anung klaseng pag-aambisyon ba ang ginawa ko noon, pero sure akong hindi naman ako nagpakaOA para magsimba sa Quiapo araw-araw at magdasal sa kung kani-kaninong santo para lang makapasok sa e-Games GM Team. Ang meron lang sakin noon ay lakas ng loob at yung drive na subukang pasukin ang isang bagay na alam ko sa sarili kong gusto ko talagang gawin. Kaya dala dala lang ang experience sa paglalaro ng sandamukal na online games at ang kakaunting information na nakalap ko kakaserch sa intarnet, nag-apply ako at sumabak sa intarbyu , at kahit tensyonado dahil first job interview yun, dahil sa tulong ng araw-araw na pagsisimba sa simbahan ng Quiapo at sa awa ng mga sinu sinung santo na pinagdasalan ko, natanggap ako. hehe!

Sabi ni Carlo ( yes, may special mention sya dito! ) pangarap daw ng bawat online gamer ang maging isang GM. Ewan ko kung paniniwalaan ko yun. Siguro karamihan pa rin sa mga gamers ang nahihiwagaan sa misteryosong buhay ng GMs. Pero kahit pa sabihin mong nagtatrabaho ka isang gaming company, at ang pagfafacilitate ng events (o paglalaro) ay part ng job description mo, kailangan mo paring iwagayway ang bandila ng professionalism sa lahat ng oras na bitbit mo hindi lang ang pangalan mo, kundi pati ang kompanya na pinagtatrabahuhan mo . Dahil ang pagiging isang GM ay hindi isang laro, kung hindi isang trabaho, na dapat sinerseryoso. *insert emo effect here*

Kung susubukan mong balikan ang mga pangarap mo sa buhay simula ng bata ka pa, siguradong hindi lang isang klase ng daan ang pinangarap mong tahakin, at lalong hindi mo mapagkakasya sa isang statement lang, ang depinisyon ng tunay na kasiyahan sa buhay. Kanya-kanyang layunin sa buhay, kanya-kanyang ambisyon, kanya-kanyang trip. Pwede kang mangarap at gawin ang lahat ng makakaya mo para maabot yun, pero marerealize mo ren na hindi lahat ng ginusto mong maging at ginusto mong mangyari sa buhay mo ay dapat at kailangang mangyari. Merong mga ambisyon na hindi natutupad, at may mga pangarap na kelangang maglaho.

Pero libre lang naman ang mangarap, at hindi ka sisingilin ng buhay para sa bawat pangarap na gagawin mo. Swerte mo kung nangyayari sa buhay mo ngayon kung anu man yung pinangarap mo dati,   pero matupad man o hindi ang mga pinangarap mo, ang mahalaga sa huli, naranasan mong maging tao, natuto kang mangarap at natuto kang tanggapin na hindi lahat ng mga pangarap ay nagiging totoo.

A walk in a park or in a unique, colorful place, is always a refreshing thing to do, a powerful destress. This is fairly essential, I must admit, in the life of a Game Master, as a weekly trip to somewhere nice and comfy could mean sheer moments of concentration and purification ( and I swear I was badly in need of some ).

But like always, doing the same thing and going to the same place over and over again is boringness at its best (lol), and boringness just dont run my life :P .  And so I’ve decided, that this time, I’ll stroll the world with a companion , and I literally thanked heavens, for I think I’ve just met the coolest pet of my life, haha!

Meet Carlo. The cutest Ranny Bear you will ever find.

Born in the New World where everything is magical and pure, cutesy carlo sprang forth into existence in a  wonderful fashion, but his origin was too sacred that even I, his master, cannot publicly disclose. =P

Nevertheless, he deserves a normal life, notwithstanding the unusual circumstances that surround his birth. At one point, the world is in dire need of the cuteness that abound in this creature, and so ive decided that the world should know of his existence, and  took him for a walk in a place he would most probably enjoy – in the verdant glades of the Mystic Peak Campus.

Boy oh boy, he’s already got fans!

It’s a good thing that, like his master, Carlo loves being with people. He cannot speak English or Filipino though (I think he’s too young for that :D). But I guess his cute li’l actions are enough to leave those fortunate spectators devastatingly awestruck. Sry, but he cannot sign autographs yet. ^^

I don’t really know much about what goes on within his mind, but im pretty much sure he’s got emotions too. ‘Cause he can get shy,

shocked,

or even sleepy…

Indeed, I am yet to understand what it takes to raise him up so he would grow well. And the road ahead for the both of us is still a long way to go…

Just last Saturday, the the Girl Gamers’ Meeting was held right here at our office in Makati.

Altogether with CMJes, GMFaiga and GMPhryzea: the Girl Gamers are on the loose!

In the focus group discussion, some of the concerns of our girl gamers were voiced out, while the community game masters, together with CM Aethrin and e-Games CM Jes clarified some of these issues and added some updates on the events and happenings in our games. Composing most of the attendees are Ran, Cabal and Granado Espada players.

One of the most significant agenda of the FGD was to hear about what they have to say about our games and about themselves – their playing style, their various gaming preferences and most importantly, their suggestions for the improvement of our games.

And of course, no e-Games event is held without freebies. The girl gamers who have sacrificed their precious rest days were given cd installers, posters and some cool in-game items. Here’s a pic with the CGMs happily distributing some give-aways:

In the forums and in our blogs…

I was logging in to the e-Games community forums and laughed for sometime when I’ve noticed that my display name was changed to “CGM Raven” (parang “si GM Raven” lng…tapos si GMFaiga, si GM Chromium, si GM Makadesh… haha!). But anyway, I think its high time that the e-Gamers get to distinguish the Technical Game Masters(abbreviated as TGM ) from the Community Game Masters (CGMs). Though both are called GMs, their scope of work and responsibilities are different. Im planning to write a full article on what the Community GMs do, and what we really dont. :D

Meanwhile, we’ll be changing the over-all look of our community blogs anytime soon. We’ve just been given our own e-games domain names (mine’s gmraven.e-games.com.ph) and are currently migrating our posts into the new one. Atm, Im having technical difficulties importing mine from here to the new one, but I hope everything will work out fine (sayang nmn ung malulufhet na comments!! T_T).

In-game…

Ran Online will get updated with the Thanksgiving patch today ( manual patch linked here ) and announcements about the events for Halloween will follow soon. As a reminder, run the Thanks Giving manual patch only after the scheduled maintenance today, as running it beforehand would cause errors on your game client.

Also, the Event Shop actually started to open yesterday (as opposed to earlier announcements of it opening today) to avoid delays in the processing. +9 item upgrades, RV upgrades, school transfer and name change services are already available.

Similarly, Dance Battle Audition patches today to give way to cool additions to the game features including the FAM Battle mode, the Club Dance 2 Game mode and the Love Party. Also, the CGMs will continue conducting Intro to Halloween events across the game servers to pave the way to a scary halloween party!

Cabal Online, on the other hand, has already launched its Halloween Super Pumpkin event and its trick-or-treat item galore since yesterday. Halloween Costumes, Head gears, and Weapon Skins are now available in the CABAL Item Shop. For the detailed information of the updates, visit the Cabal Community Blog Site.

In the final clash between the top two Ran teams in the world, the whole of SMX Convention Center stood watching in gleeful excitement as Team Philippines and Team Malaysia battled it out in the championships match.

And then it began. Team Pinas took out the first win in the best-of-five championships match, energizing the crowd the very instant.

And then the second match followed. In a swift 30-second* battle , the flawless strategy that took Team PH to their current spot proved fatal, pwning the four competitors dead in the ground, ensuring them a very nice lead, and reinforcing the wild cheers which dominated the hall.

The third match so ensued with too much anticipation of Team PH’s victory, but ended up otherwise. The representatives from Malaysia certainly did not leave their precious land unprepared – they weren’t here for vacation anyway, they were here for an intense fight.

And quite surely, for their second straight victory (in the fourth match), they showed the whole spectators and all of the Philippine Ran community that Team Malaysia is a force to be reckoned with. They are after all, the Assassin GRGL team, both feared and respected in the realm of Ran Online Malaysia. Heinous assassins, in their very own rights.

So the championship battle went 2-2.

All for the glory of this

The fifth and final match occured therefore. And in the battle that decided everything, hearts stopped and breathings paused. Philippines had the first casualty, but they were able to knockdown one of the enemies to safely bring the match into three against three. And so, the final match took its course…

But then, it was fated. With the final blows delivered, the last spells casted… with the ultimate swing of the sword, and with that winning assault of the arrow, team Philippines rose triumphant, sending all into a marvelous frenzy for a well-earned victory.

SMX Convention Center. Hall 5.

The Ran Global Tournament was a much-anticipated gaming event of the year. Being host to the 2nd RGT was both a privilege and a challenge to e-Games PH, as all eyes are set into us, and all are just as curious as to how the 2nd RGT would surpass the first.

The gates opened at about 9:45 am, and with it came the long queues of players most of which wore red shirts, obviously to support Team Pinas. The vividness of the color red painted an atmosphere of sheer bloodbath, a signal of an imminent battle that lies ahead.

Now thats what you call a queue!

Hosted primarily by the joint awesomeness of SAM YG and the lovely Ms. Cheska, they did the hosting while alternately roaming around the whole of the hall to interview some of the players and see what events are on-going.

Cool Beings!

Of course the event didnt push through with only the Ran Global Tournament at the event list. Other activities, both in-game and offline were conducted, pouring down prizes in all forms.

And although we had some technical difficulties in the course of the event, that didnt hold us back from proceeding with most of what has been scheduled.

Anyway, here’s the official video of what took place in the 2nd Ran Global Tournament:

The event had me quite burnt out at the end, but the ones which take our time and effort, I believe, are mostly the ones which leave the fondest memories. Below are some of the best things I would remember about the event:

1. Team PH’s Victory

Of course that’s the first on the list. We may not have gone all crazy in celebration of their victory to dance like monkeys in the stage, and we may not have spilled Congratulations Team PH!!! in-game every hour, every minute, every second after the event, but certainly, in the bottom of our hearts, we are truly happy with their victory. It was like all of the efforts of every departments did not go unrewarded.

Yes, Strong! Cheeseburger nmn jan! Burger! Burger! :D

Quoting myself in what I wrote in the forums: (hahaha)

” With all honesty, its one of the greatest pleasures for a Game Master to see their players as they battle it out in an international competition, and seeing them win in the championships is just absolutely priceless.”

Quoting Carlo in their interview with Press Inkslinger and Press Vesteria when asked about his message for the Ran Community:

Maraming salamat po sa lahat ng sumuporta sa amin hanggang sa kahuli-hulihang oras ng aming laban. Nang dahil sa inyo, nagkaroon kami ng lakas upang lumaban pa at magkaroon ng shot sa title. Maraming salamat sa buong staff ng e-Games sa pabibigay ng tiwala samin. Kung kami ay mapagbibigyan ng pagkakataong muli na mai-represent ang Pilipinas sa RGT, aming ipinapangako na gagawin namin ang aming best upang manatili sa Pilipinas ang karangalan.

O M E G !, I just fell off my chair! hahaha. Ang laliiiimmmm!!! :D

And Vincent, when asked about what it feels like to be the new RGT Champs:

Paulit-ulit kami ng sinasabi nila Carlo na parang di naming lubos maisip na nanalo kami. Kasi naman 0-2 (sa eliminations).Tapos bigla pang nag-number 1. Siguro ang gwapo ko kasi kaya nahabol. Hahaha!

2. The Coolest GM Jackets

Bringing down to real life what can only be seen in game must have been the very inspiration when these jackets were conceptualized. Honestly, at first I kind of thought it was too large for the minuteness of me (hahahaha) that I even had to tuck it in (geez). But later on, I have gotten to appreciate the whole of it, and even now as I blog, haha, I am wearing my jacket on. Never got to thank CM Jes for pushing the project through tough, but I guess she would be reading this anyway. Haha. <3 et Boss!

Sorry, but you can’t buy those in the supermarkets! :P

3. The Secret Magpie Hunt Event

I was tasked, (together with GM Lyle ) to facilitate the Secret Magpie Event, an in-game event wherein you play with a partner and the two of you represent a single school and hunt down those hapless birdies in an effort to have more Magpie food (the ones that the magpies drop ) than the players representing the other two schools. The participants may also choose to just PK the other players, because killing them would make their Magpie food void and null. :D

The event ran from about 10 am to 7 pm, and the winners were given gift vouchers containing hoverboards and in-game costumes.

Anyway, I have to thank the other two people who were also there to man the event. (You know who you are! :D). Sa uulitin!

4. The Merchandise of a Lifetime

Those +9 treasure blades must be deadly.

Manufactured with love and knit by golden hands, these cool merchandise stuffs are always best-sellers. For the fun of it, I could buy one of those Shaman Backpacks, but since mahirap ang buhay ngaun, haha and because I wont be needing those treasure blades, I’ll just leave those for you. My eyes are glued to the special Ran GT shirt, anyway.

But speaking of the Ran GT t-shirt, I just went to our Sales department to procure one just last Friday. And quite a disappointment, the one in-charge just told me they were out of stock. Nyay, Naubos!!!

Maybe I’ll just beg someone in the office to spare me one in exchange for three days of servitude. Hahaha.

4. The Short Interview. LOL

There was a short break when the internet connection went down, and the others who were in my company have to take their breaks, leaving me behind in solitary existence hahaha (I already had my break during that time, so the time was theirs to sit down for a bit). Slumped into the floor watching the RGT, I turned to look at my right, and then i saw them haha…both of the hosts, together with the man handling the video coverage. I immediately stood up, but, I guess they already saw me sitting in the floor. So the lady host, being the aggressive yet lovely vixen that she is, asked me frankly,

“Is the event here finished? ‘Cause it looks like your already taking yor rest in the floor, Haha ” (I guess she was just being comedic, as she was laughing when she said that.)

To which I quickly responded, “Actually, we got disconnected. So we have to take a short break. But we’ll resume once the connection is ok.” (My statements were something like that. :3 )

“Anyway, what really is important is that our gamers are enjoying the event,” blah blah says Ms. Cheska.

And then just when I thought they were done with me, my eyes met Sam YG’s. And though short was that moment, I already knew this guy was up to something nasty! Hahaha. (There was that dirty look in his eyes, I swear!)

“Hey, I just want to ask you one thing.” says SAM YG.

“OK.”

“Are you planning to make it out in the show business?”

And I was like “What in the world?”

Haha, I could have answered more provocatively, but I just said “None. Haha.”

Suddenly, with the wildest grin I ever made in years (ngiting abot tenga yata ang tawag dun, lol) I just had a new idol. ‘Cause not only is this SAM YG guy excellent in hosting, this dude surely has got taste! Hahahaha!

6. Mocha’s Performance, the Parade of the Calendar Girls and GM Hanya’s Rise into Fame

Jaw dropping. Devastating. Extremely Exhilirating.

Whew! I could use all the adjectives I know of but nowhere would I be near in describing just what those moments really felt like. Haha!

Those moments of fantasy started with the Calendar Girls’ catwalk in front of the swarm of Ranatics, which obviously made the crowd shout like there’s no tomorrow. After that, the trailer of the 2009 Ran Calendar Girl was played in the screen, which ultimately led into a deafening roar of wild cheering.

And then Mocha followed suit. Together with her best talents (lol), they performed a rather long dance number. After that, she took the time to personally acknowledge the other members of her dance group.

But then, the pièce de résistance was just about to come.

Mocha invited some of the hottest* Ranachics to the stage, including a girl gamer, an e-Games Community GM, the cute representative from Korea, and haha, quite voluntarily the Premiere Audista, CM Lowe. Each had their own moment of stardom, but one of them certainly shined the most.

Ok, ok, we all know they’re super-duper hot, but what is* Mocha and her girls and the REST of the Calendar Girls compared to the rising phenomenon that is GM Hanya ? With barely her own guts she stood, and like a superstar she came down the stage. (wag nio nang itanong kung magkano binayad sken ni GM Hanya para isulat `to. Hahaha. )

HAWT is an understatement

7. The GM Passport Event and the Poster Signing Sessions

I wasn’t included in the GM Passport/Posas Da GM event, but that did not provide me invisibility from the piercing visions of the wandering Ranadiks. At almost every turn, I think Ive said, “Hindi po ako kasali jan”, “Wala po yung pangalan ko jan..@_@ ” Lol. But I must say, they all have the motivation, cause not only do they get to meet some of the GMs IRL, they also got the chance to win some of the in-game prizes in the roulette.

When most of the players were done with the passport event, when they got hold of those Ran posters, some of them went to get the GM authographs. And like always, I wanted to be creative, so I did variations of the messages I wrote. :D

It feels so good that people show you signs that they appreciate what you do for the community, ‘coz these encounters are the very motivation that drive us to improve.

8. The Victory Jump

So who gets the Best GM Victory Jump Award?

What cooler way is there to celebrate victory than to jump in immeasurable glee?

Just right after the event, we were so hyped up that we literally played around the stage – posing, jumping and even modeling! Good thing our nasty little playing around didnt break the stage, cause if so, then one of us would have been left there to serve and clean the whole of SMX until the service pays off the damage costs, (probably GM Chromium, kasi career , hahaha!) :D

A victory for the country’s pride. Nah, we’re not singing the national anthem. :P

The event went on with too much activities that it really drained out all the energy in me. But what is a single day deprived of comfort for all the wonderful memories the experience would bring in exchange? More than anything else, I was glad and fulfilled at the end, and that, my friends, is enough for me to hope for more of these events in the coming years. ^_^

So now we have yet another month-long event for Cabal, and this one’s going to run from  October 7 to November 4.

This one’s called the Level Progression Event, wherein you basically get to be rewarded a number of Core Enhancers simply by progressing and attaining a number of target level-ups.

Here’s a table showing the rewards you would get if you would be able to achieve or get past the target level progression:

 Say your level’s 118 at the start of the event, therefore according to the table, you must reach at least level 126 (six is your target level progression) in order to win the event prize for that specific level range, in such case, six Core Enhancers (High).

But the fun just doesnt end there! Those who would be able to reach the Lvl 170 Cap will each receive five Core Enhancer (Highest)  and a Crystal RW3 Astral Bike that lasts for fifteen days and which binds to your account. 

So what in the world is at stake here?

Time for some updates in Granado Espada.

One of the features that comes up with V2.9 is a new buddy system for all the Granado Espada players out there. The new feature basically allows two families to act somewhat cooperatively for one family to gain EXP points and the other to gain Reputation points, which is sort of like the currency points for some of the events in the New World.
