Hey Everyone!

I'm sure everyone has been wondering where the hell I've been!

I have been so busy! Between getting a new puggy, family events, etc, I'm exhausted!

Most importantly, I've been working on big improvements with my blog that you all will see very soon.

I'm converting my blog to Wordpress, as it offers more features and will allow me to expand my blog.

I think you all will be very happy with the upcoming changes.

You will be able to view a much more organized site & more recurrent posts.

I will be going more by the name of "Makeup by Lacy".

Yummy, Yummy - In My Tummy

Hello :)

With St Patricks Day tomorrow, I thought it would be fun for my boyfriend & I to be festive!! I love being themed :) Tomorrow we are having the typical saint patty's day meal; Corned beef, cabbage & potatoes! I also wanted to incorporate a new alcoholic beverage ;) Seeing as Bailey's Irish Cream is on sale because of this holiday, I knew I wanted to use that! I sweet makeupalley"er" recommended I make some B-52 shots. Thank goodness I took her advice!! I made them this evening and they are SOOOO good. I recommend you try them!!

It's so simple to make them. All you really need is a shooter shot glass or you can use a sherry glass, but I prefer the shooter. Bailey's Irish Cream, Kahlua, & Grand Marnier are all used with equal parts. However, I did tweak the recipe for some extra yumminess. For the Bailey's Irish Cream, I got the kind with a hint of coffee. For the Kahlua, I got the one with a hint of Mocha. I replaced the Grand Marnier with Contreau, whic is basically the same thing (orange liqueur) only cheaper :)

You basically only need to make layers. Recipes recommend you layer by pouring over the back of a cold spoon to avoid disturbing the alcohol below it (... trying to keep the layers from blending). However, my first attempt with that didn't work, so my boyfriend came up with the idea of having the spoon upright & gently pouring onto the spoon so it slowly drizzles onto the liqueur below.

Layer in this order - Kahlua, Bailey's & Grand Marnier.

Have you ever had the chocolate oranges that you bang against a hard surface & it splits into orange slices? It tastes exactly like that!!

Way to be festive for St.Patty's Day!!! Drink responsibly!

Fave Nail Polish & New Hair!

Hello :)

I really wanted to share my new favorite nail polish with you!! It's such a cool color from OPI called You Don't Know Jacques! It's a really cool gray color with a beige tint to it, so it can be categorized as a "Greige" color like I was talking about earlier.

I have new hair!! I was getting really bored with my platinum blonde hair. Not to mention the damage! It was starting to really take a toll on my hair & made it virtually impossible for me to grow it longer. I got a bunch of lowlights & really dark brown chunks underneath. This probably isn't the best picture... and sorry about the messy bathroom :)

Hello!!!!

I recently did some photoshoots & I wanted to share some of the pictures I got back! I will be expecting some more from these shoots & will post them as I receive them. One of the shoots was a 1950's, pin-up inspired type shoot & I'm very pleased with how the model's makeup turned out. This model's name is Aimee & the photographer was Cole from Shin Kicker Studios.

The next shoot was with model Loriel Andrea, who is actually the model on the cover of Gothic Beauty Magazine this month (or was it last month??). The first two pictures were taken by Claude Pena & the last one was taken by Cole from Shin Kicker Studios.

Modelinia Fashion Week

Hello Lovelies!

I hope everyone is having a fantastic weekend! For those of you who haven't already checked out Modelinia, you need to! Modelinia is a fashion & beauty website that's packed with fun & interesting articles to read. They also have tons of videos to keep you entertained & informed.

Modelinia did an awesome job covering Fashion Week 2010! Check it out!! There are a ton of slideshows, a Fashion Week TV series, and blog posts.

I loved episode number 6 for the Fashion Week TV series in particular because it was full of beautiful. Beautiful models.... and.... beautiful Justin Timberlake! ;) They covered Justin's fashion line called "William Rast". The inspiration for his line was landscape according to his friend Trace Ayala; also a founder of the clothing line. The William Rast brand carries clothing for both women & men but I love the men's line in particular. I'm debating buying the boyfriend a couple of William Rast shirts :)

Also, check out the beauty trends part of Episode 6. Suze Yalof Schwartz (Executive Fashion Editor) from Glamour Magazine states the no makeup makeup look is over. I'm seriously jumping for joy over here. Makeup should be fun and make you feel like a bombshell, so I couldn't be happier that we are finally moving on from the natural makeup look. Dark eyes & dark lips darling!! As for nails, I'm loving this "Greige" color!! It's a cross between Gray & Beige. Finally something new & unique!

Really the only pitfall (if you want to call it that) of reading Modelinia, I find myself going shopping more often.

Valentines!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentines Day! I know I did :) My boyfriend had to work, so I was a little bummed about that. I made him a lovely dinner in which he came home to with it all ready. I made him his favorite funfetti sugar cookies, an antipasto plate (salami, prosciutto wrapped with basil & mozzarella sliced, and pepperoncinis), antipasto olives, pasta with sundried tomato alfredo & shrimp, caprese salad, Pink Australian Sparkling Wine and garlic bread! I spoiled him, I really did :) Here's a pic because you just know I had to show off -

How cute are these plates I got to put his sugar cookies on??!!!

And just for fun, here is a pic I took in LA that is still cracking me up. Feel free to slap my hands if I'm being politically incorrect... but here you can see a jew walking by a store called "Skank World". Something about that concept just cracks me up!

This weekend I also did a photoshoot. I was so lucky to work with Photographer Raj and Model Rosalyn, but the conditions were less than attractive. We were on a strict time limit with no table for organization. I lucked out though, I really did. The shoot called for natural, neutral makeup so it made things a lot easier. This is literally the first time I've done natural makeup. While I'd still rather do some glamified makeup, Rosalyn did look like a refined natural beauty :)

LA Weekend - Alexis Vogel Workshop

Hey, hey, hey!

This last weekend I went to the amazing Los Angeles to attend the Alexis Vogel Valentine Vixen Workshop and also to visit with my good friend, Daniel. As some of you already know, Alexis Vogel is my all time favorite makeup artist. I've talked about her before on my blog because, and let me be blunt, she knows her shit! I highly recommend checking out any future workshops she may have because I really did learn so much. Just when you think you know everything, train with Alexis Vogel. :) She is absolutely stunning, especially in person and seriously... the most gorgeous hair I've ever seen. The workshop was held at the Hilton in LA.

Alexis & her husband, Isaiah, are are really great team! Alexis paints them up & Isaiah takes the pictures! Alexis used a model to demonstrate her techniques. I prefer this to hands on because this way I'm not worried about keeping up on my own model, I can just sit there & take in everything she is saying. The model was beautiful Miss January 2001, Irina Voronina (Playboy). Here is a before & after of Irina. The "Before" was taken with my camera, which is why it doesn't look so good. After the class, I was starving for something yummy. We ate at this mexican resaurant called El Coyote in LA but I guess it's also considered the Hollywood area. Seriously, we were joking and saying they must have shot endorphines in the food because it tasted like heaven. Best food I've ever had in my life. Let me tell you, they are not cheap with their booze either! One margarita and I was feeling good!

OCC Lip Tar Swatches

I did it!

I bought some OCC Lip Tars. Okay, that's probably not very interesting to you.

I'm doing some avant garde type makeup on one of my upcoming shoots so I need some bright lip colors!

OCC Lip Tars fits the bill :)

Here are some swatches. Obviously these are not for day wear EXCEPT for "Hush". Hush is an absolutely gorgeous nudish-pink. It's a lip gloss but wears like a lipstick. It's awesome. They all have peppermint oil in them which I really like but sucks because you cannot put them around the eye area.

They are REALLY long lasting.... and here is the proof.

This is after a good 2 minutes of scrubbing with soap & water.

Medusa's Eye Dusts Swatches

Have you heard of Medusa's Make-Up? I was in need of some bright colored eye shadows and did a little research with google. Medusa's Make-Up came up and I was intrigued by their website! I ordered some of their Eye Dusts and I am really pleased with the quality. They have been compared to MAC but I wouldn't exactly say they are better than MAC. It's hard to explain, but I feel that they are just a different kind of quality. I definitely recommend purchasing a few. And no... they didn't pay me to tell you this. Photoshoot Sneak Peek

My Evening Project

I wanted to show you guys what I've been up to! A couple nights ago I drank a few vodka & tonics at home and decided to take on my lip palette project. I'm doing a photoshoot on Thursday, so I knew I wanted to finish it before then. Being a tad on the buzzed side resulted in lipstick all over my hands!! HEHE!!

I bought my 36 Well Japonesque lip palette from Camera Ready Cosmetics. This hardly has 36 wells. I really do like the palette. However, one side of the wells are definitely not deep enough to smoosh lipsticks into. So I decided to only use 18 of the wells and use the rest to coincide with the lipsticks for proper labeling :) Not to mention it is much more organized! It's a lot tinier than I expected.

You don't have to be a makeup artist to use this palette. If you have old lipstick you love that have a little lipstick leftover in the base of the tube, scrape that sucker out!!!

One picture shows the finished lipstick palette. The other shows my hand for size reference. (Yes, I ran out of my white labeling tape towards the very end. Ugh... lime green.)

Simple FOTD & My Mall Haul

I hope everyone had an amazing New Year!!

Today my friend and I went to the mall. I told myself, "Lacy, only buy clothes... you do not need makeup.". I have the dirty little habit like most of you of spending all my money on makeup, when I really need to update my wardrobe! .... So what do you know, I come back home with only one pair of jeans and the rest makeup. *hangs head*

Here is my simple FOTD. I'm really loving purple everything these days. (Please ignore the foundation that made its way into my hair. Having almost white hair is super hard when applying foundation, LOL!!

and all the lovely things I bought today!!!!

That beautiful palette of eyeshadows you see there is from Tigi's Bedhead. I currently use their black & brown cyberoptics shadows daily. They are the smoothest eyeshadows I have ever used. I bought this at Cosmoprof (okay, okay.. not the mall). You do have to have a beauty industry license to shop at Cosmoprof, but you can also buy this palette online, which does not require a license. Here are the swatches for the amazing palette - (please ignore the goosebumps!!)

I bought Make Up For Ever's Aqua Eyes Collection. This is a smaller version of the full set. This set includes 5 pencils in a black, gray, blue, purple & champagne. These pencils can also be used as an eyeshadow with the proper blending. No matter how you use them, they absolutely will not budge until you apply soap & water. These are a major favorite for celebrity makeup artists. Click here to read what celebrity artist Kevin James Bennett has to say about these amazing pencils. Here are my swatches for my mini collection :)

I also made my way over to MAC and used my gift card my best friend got me for Christmas. I had originally gone to MACPro.com to buy some goodies with my gift card but MAC doesn't allow gift cards to be redeemed online! Is that not ludicrous or what?! Anywho, amongst other items, I bought a pigment I've been lusting.... Heritage Rouge. This is a limited edition pigment from the MAC Make-Up Art Cosmetics Fall '09 As Seen By Marilyn Minter collection. Heritage Rouge is described as a dirty brown plum.

I also bought the lovely 217 blending brush & Dollymix blush. My favorite beauty blogger is Aleksis from Alpha Blonde. I saw her using the 217 in a couple videos and I just knew I had to have one for myself. If you check out her blog, you'll notice she recently talked about the Dollymix blush and her undying love for it. So I took her word for it :)

While hanging out at my local Sephora, I sampled Make Up For Ever's HD High Definition Powder. I'm fairly certain my face became flush as I fell in love. This translucent powder is made out of 100% mineral silica. It works for all skintones, so it's a perfect addition to my freelance kit. This powder helps blur imperfections and is only $30!!! I also sampled Make Up For Ever's HD Foundation. I almost spit out my gum when I saw how amazing it blended with minimal effort!! It was as if heaven was sitting on my hand!! I tested foundations for a good 15 minutes.... Once I finally decided which color would work best, BAM! They were basically out of every color... Shame on you, Sephora!! Shame on you!

Lastly, I bring you the phenomenal Marrakesh Oil. The last time I visited Cosmoprof, they had given me a sample of this bad johnny. Let's be honest, samples very rarely strike my interest. However, this oil rocked my socks right off!! Not only does it smell like an angel, but it makes your hair ridiculously soft! Marrakesh Oil shines, conditions and protects your hair with hemp & argan oils. It has never made my hair greasy. It's perfect for just conditioning your hair, but also protecting before blowdrying or straightening your hair. Marrakesh is very similar to Moroccan oil, although I prefer the scent of Marrakesh.

Wet n Wild Gel Liner & High Beam

Hey guys!!

So as most of you already know, I had tried Wet n Wild's Gel Liner in Black and really liked it. I have a picture to prove it's staying power!!! I applied the gel liner on my waterline at 6:00am this morning and at 5:30pm (11 1/2 hours later) it's still going strong!!! I swear I never reapplied it.
(I know, that clump of mascara is annoying me too.)

I also used Benefit's High Beam today for the first time (Boyfriend put it in my stocking!) and I loooove it!! Here's a picture to show it! That's not the flash, baby!! That's high beam!!!

The Big Makeup Flub

Hello!

As some of you may have seen, poor Nicole Kidman stepped out onto the red carpet for her new movies "Nine" premiere wearing a less than attractive makeup look. It's really quite sad! I normally don't gossip too much about celebrities, but this particular makeup flaw is a pet peeve of mine. Highlighting & contouring can do amazing things for the face, but if you don't blend it in, it will look like crap!

I have seen Kim Kardashian as a product of an unblended highlight many times. She has a pretty dark complexion, so I understand why it would be hard to blend it out completely. But there are no excuses for this! Take a picture before you leave the house to see if it's showing up on camera. That's the only way you'll know!

I wasn't sure if everyday MAC customers could view this, so I wanted to make sure my readers got a chance to read it! We went to Chevy's on the river last night for Brad's 21st Birthday! I don't think Brad fully enjoyed going out & having drinks because he was so in shock the drinks are pretty expensive, LOL!
