Checking in for my monthly post. This time I'm not even going to promise to post on a schedule -- I will just get to it when I get to it. I am headed to the doctor with little P for her 4 month checkup. I'm dreading the sad face she is going to give me when that needle gets her... For now I'm enjoying her sweet little pucker!

Girly

Lately people are saying Piper looks just like her older brother. I don't see it, there are some similarities, not an exact match though - but, what do I know - I just deliver them. The fact that people think she resembles a boy has me rushing out to buy every girly accessory in sight. Ammon always makes fun of the HUGE flowers I stick on her head and the bracelets I slap on her wrist - I just can't help it she's my little lady.

I will let you form your own opinion as to whether they look alike...
Here is beefcake Porter at 2.5 months

and...
Here is the little gnome Piper at 2.5 months

Back.

I've been on a 2 month vacation from my blog. Today I started thinking - I documented most of Porters life and to be fair I should do the same for little Piper. But where to start? So much has happened and the thought of catching up makes me want to just delete my blog entirely. I also realize I probably have like 2 readers now (not that I had that many to begin with)... so, I'm going to start posting again for me and for my kids - I have to preserve the memories somehow.

Time is a bit of an issue, as I haven't fully adapted to balancing life with two kids *I'm getting there*. I'm showering everyday again, preparing food, cleaning the house, washing clothes - basically starting to feel like a person again. Anyway, to keep things going on the blog, I'm going to post a daily picture (or two) documenting the goings on in our little world. Sometimes a story will accompany it, most times it will just be pictures - a photo-log if you will. I figure it's better than nothing until life slows down a little.

To start things off: Ammon created this little gem on his iphone and it pretty much sums up how I feel lately - 25 pounds over weight, covered in milk and spit up, unattractive and unrecognizable...

And, here is Porter with his new little sister Piper (although, he likes to call her brother). Piper is a feisty yet sweet, smiley baby who loves to be held all the time... she has all 3 of us wrapped around her finger and always gets her way, at this rate her teenage years could be bad.

Floating and Bloating

Three weeks ago, I took a last minute girls trip to California. It was quick, fun and jam packed with adventure and laughs. The kind of adventure you almost have to witness first hand to appreciate and the kind of hysterical laughter that only adventure brings. I won't leave you hanging, here is a brief summary of what I'm referring to: wearing support hose on an airplane, a tire blowout on a 6 lane California freeway, our cab driver falling asleep on a long drive to San Diego, meeting Kevin Bacon and having him ask me if I knew who the father of my fetus was, getting lost and stopping to ask for directions in Compton, missing our flight home, witnessing a Narcotics Anonymous conference and meeting a psychic who knew way too much about me. At the end of the trip I was so thankful I went through all of these things with "Corbie the brave ", if bad stuff is going to happen to you, she's the kind of proactive person you want on your side. I actually owe her my life and the life of my unborn.

I'm home now. Safe and sound. And in case you didn't recognize me with all that extra poundage I'm carrying - I am indeed in that picture. I'm the anchor in the middle. Speaking of anchors, I think I have a lot of water weight on me. Which leads me to my next story. My hands hurt. They aren't swollen (too badly) and I can still see my ankle bones if that counts for anything. I called the doctor about my hands and they had me come in to check my blood pressure, a slight increase - which alerted them to test my urine, +1 amount of protein in my urine - which then made them check my blood... lucky for me, my blood was in good shape. I still question whether or not I have preeclampsia and so I'm on guard, peeing on a stick daily to catch an increase of protein should it occur, and asking everyone that sees me if I look overly swollen. Don't worry, it's all in my head, I just don't want to take it lightly. I'm told the swelling and protein in my urine are a result of dehydration. I actually thought I was drinking more than enough water. I guess I was wrong. I'm now floating in water, 90+ oz. a day to be exact, and I'm not allowed to drink my weekly soda pop. Thank goodness I've only got 9 weeks left.

Here's to 20 bathroom visits a day - a whole lot of toilet paper - peeing my pants every time I cough or sneeze - and very productive kidneys!

Eco-Flow Busters & much more

Last night, a discussion about cloth diapers took a couple of friends and I to a whole new world... (I've changed the names in this post to protect the innocent). When it comes to cloth diapers, all three of us agreed there just isn't time for them - - although, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, we came to the conclusion that we are too busy to worry about rinsing, washing, and bleaching cloth diapers. Then, Talula, the most creative and crafty person I've ever met in my life, started telling Crystal and I about people she knows that make things called "Eco-Flow Busters" - - see below.

I guess people are going so "green" they have started knitting their own tampons. Talula may have sensed my disbelief, so this morning she emailed me proof. See here. And she said: "You know, when we're all hunkered down at my house when the world is ending... that'll be your responsibility, Lindsey."

She also mentioned that people are using "Family Cloth" instead of toilet paper... I will let your imagination run wild with this... But I do have one question about this, after the "Family Cloth" is used, where is it stored until it's washed?

I will do my part to reduce, reuse, recycle - - but my part won't include "Eco-Flow Busters" or "Family Cloth".

The BIG 3

We celebrated Porters 3rd Birthday this past weekend. I just have to say - - whoever said that two is terrible was lying - - as we approached his third year and now that we are in it, things have gotten a lot more challenging, but he is still fun never the less.

Porter loves machines and anything that moves. I decided to take him on a train ride for his birthday. In fact we rode the train to a train museum, Porter was in heaven and I was just -- hungry. He had the time of his life and every morning since his birthday he wakes up and says "I'm getting more presents today?"

Hores.

My mom emailed me this little gem today. I'm sure Spring will bring about some sort of change in my blogging behavior, hopefully it can help me get out and exercise too.

This past week Ammon and I got into bed to call it a night, as we did I put my feet on his legs to show him just how bad my circulation really is - - my feet were freezing. He decided to be funny and put his feet on me as well. I put my hand up to block him from freezing me out and as I did, his toenail sliced my hand. It actually broke the skin. I don't know what his reason is for having weapons attached to his toes... right now I can't even reach my toenails to cut them, he doesn't have that excuse. We both laughed about it, but it sort of grossed me out -- you know how I am with feet.

Get Up, Stand Up

Today is Bob Marley's birthday... have a reggae party!
We are.
{I lied about the reggae party, it didn't happen, maybe next year.}

I am feeling brave, here is my first (and possibly my last) 'belly' pic.
I'm 22 weeks.

Phone Pic {almost} Friday: Brady Bunch-ish

- - After the 'shaggin wagon' comes the 'family wagon' - -

*take note - family wagons look grooviest in pink*

For the record:
I saw this van on my way home from work today. It wasn't the funniest thing I've ever seen, but I figured I should snap a picture just in case I ever need something random to post on my blog, which is often. As I approached an upcoming stop light I changed lanes to get a better shot - - the car I got in front of also changed lanes and moved into the lane I just left (it seemed like they did not want me in front of them). The light turned red, I stopped, snapped my picture and then heard a loud crashing sound. I looked over to the lane I had just left, only to find the car that traded places with me was rear-ended. Hard. Basically, the 'family wagon' saved my hind - - I almost feel bad in making fun of it - - just not bad enough, it has been 12 days since I last posted, I'm desperate for material.

Meet Baby K.

I had my ultrasound today. It's refreshing. This morning I decided to change the theme on my cell phone. I went through about five themes and didn't like a single one, I found myself comparing every single one to my old theme, Zen. Hindsight, should I really be removing zen-ful things from my life? I don't have a lot of zen to remove in the first place... why change a good thing?

But, change is refreshing. It is how I discover other good things.

I made my way down the list of themes and saw one titled 'Surreal'. There wasn't a preview, although it sounded cool -- I clicked on it and waited while it did its thing. Ten minutes later, I still found myself staring at a blank screen with an hour glass. Then I got it, the dreaded error message... "App Error 523" with an option to reset. No big deal, reset. I waited another ten minutes and then found myself at exactly the same point, it was a vicious cycle. One I wasn't in the mood for.

I kept my cool. I was going to fix this without calling Ammon. The fact is, I couldn't really call Ammon anyway, my phone was broken. Plus, what could he do that I couldn't? I plugged my phone into the computer and tried to take control that way. Only, it wouldn't connect. It was at that moment the genius in me stepped up. Reboot. I needed to reboot. I quickly removed the battery, I even took out the 'sd' card for good luck... counted to 30, then put them both back in. I felt like this time things were really looking up. I took a deep breath, sat back and pushed power - - to my dismay, same white screen, same error message.

I had no other choice - - I had to give in and get in touch with Ammon. My only contact with the outside world is the Internet. He would have to help me through google talk and sometimes I'm not as quick to pick things up as he wants me to be --let's just say, we usually end up bugging the crap out of each other in these moments. All I could do was cry for help and hope he'd remember to go easy on me since I am carrying his unborn child.

I finally got him to respond by saying EMERGENCY... which many never work again now. Emergency means something different to everyone, now he knows what it means to me. He started telling me to do things that I had already done: reboot, try plugging it into the computer, keep trying to get blackberry desktop manager to connect to the phone... I was about to ask if I could just throw it on the floor and stomp it to death when he said that I would most likely have to reinstall the 'os' which I knew meant operating system. The fact that I knew that might impress like one of you (Mom, I know you didn't know what that was)-- but, it doesn't impress Ammon, that's baby stuff... one of the first words of computer users. I could tell my phone was starting to frustrate Ammon too... he had me download the latest version of both the desktop manager and the phone software. Done. Neither worked. It was at this point he took a huge risk and offered up some dangerous information he found on a forum...

I have a fix that does not require erasing your data! Of course following these instructions could also destroy everything on your blackberry, so read between the lines and only do things that make sense to you.

You have to get JL_cmdr package from pinstack:
blackberryforums.pinstack.com/downloads.html?catid=5&linkid=452

Then install it on your system. Now that your blackberry is in a reboot cycle, you have a very short amount of time to actually run these commands while the system is booting up and you have the white screen with the hour glass. So you may have to pull the battery several times while doing these steps and run one command at a time.

(in windows xp)
1) click "start" -> "run" -> type in "cmd" and hit enter to get to dos prompt
2) type in the following:
"c:\Program Files\JL_Cmder\JavaLoader.exe" -u -w<passwordifyouhaveone style="font-family: courier new;"> dir > mymodules.txt
this will create a file in your current directory called mymodules.txt. open it and look through your modules. in my case the culprit was "net_rim_theme_bbdimension_today_320x240_b". This theme displays my messages and calendar on the front page of the system. I'm guessing that since it has to recalculate the calendar each day, there must have been something about the tasks that I set up yesterday to show up in my calendar. It must have hit a snag after the date changed at midnight, and it got hung up. Could have also been something about my messages.
3) once you determine which module(s) you want to delete, we'll need to save it just in case we want it back later. In my case the module was "net_rim_theme_bbdimension_today_320x240_b"
the full command to save it was:
"c:\Program Files\JL_Cmder\JavaLoader.exe -u -w<passwordifyouhaveone> save net_rim_theme_bbdimension_today_320x240_b
4) now erase it!
"c:\Program Files\JL_Cmder\JavaLoader.exe -u -w<passwordifyouhaveone> erase net_rim_theme_bbdimension_today_320x240_b

On my blackberry, it said that this was an active module, so I had to force it with the -f switch. Total command was:
"c:\Program Files\JL_Cmder\JavaLoader.exe -u -w<passwordifyouhaveone> erase -f net_rim_theme_bbdimension_today_320x240_b

After the module was erased, the blackberry restarted and my system came back to fully working status.

Hope this helps someone!

</passwordifyouhaveone></passwordifyouhaveone></passwordifyouhaveone></passwordifyouhaveone>Ammon actually sent these instructions and said "follow that" as if I would be able to follow the pathways and know what this person was talking about. I didn't even read all the way through the instructions, the first paragraph scared me enough not to do it. Instead I opted to take the battery out of my phone and set it aside. That's where it has been all day...

Mostly, I wanted to warn all of you, never try to install a theme that is older than your current 'os'. I may never change my theme again... Zen is the theme for me... I have a whole new level of appreciation for it.

Cravings...

Yesterday - it was Popsicle's. I know what you're thinking-- should I be eating sushi while pregnant? Or better yet-- should we be eating sushi at an all-you-can-eat-buffet? Yep, I/we should. Nothing raw in the stuff I ate. And, I carefully scoped out the joint before we even started dining, it was clean. When my friend gave me the ornaments, I thought, wow I'm special and she's inducting me into her "hippie" club. She quickly squashed those thoughts and downplayed the gift telling me that she had a stockpile of the ornaments to give to last minute people. I just sipped my coke and pretended not to hear a word she said. As far as I'm concerned I am the newest "hippie" and I will forever hang these ornaments on my tree with "hippie pride".

We've had a busy Holiday Season, as I'm sure is the case with everyone else, but when you're keeping track of weeks like I am, it's nice to have time go by fast. This year we added a few new holiday activities to our list of things to do. We saw Bolt in 3D with Grandma and Grandpa... Porter only left his glasses on for 15 minutes and then watched the remaining hour and a half in pure blurriness. His eyes were crossed for a few days, but he didn't complain once.

This year we skipped seeing the lights at Temple Square and instead went to Hogle Zoo and saw "Zoolights". It was about 18 degrees outside, but Porter loved every minute of it. I was warmer than anyone with the extra weight I've put on. And, Ammon was excited for light-seeing to be over.

That's all I've got for now, we hope all of you have a Merry Christmas!

Baby Stuff

I'm 15 weeks today. Hungry. A slave to food. Thirsty. I can't get enough water. Ammon is trying to convince me not to find out what we are having. As crazy as it sounds, I've talked to friends & family and most everyone agrees the surprise is worth it... so far, I've given in to his convincing - - we most likely won't find out. I say most likely because there is that slight chance that the ultrasound tech might slip and accidentally tell us, or that I won't be able to resist knowing that pertinent bit of information. I told Ammon if we didn't find out, we have to decide on a boy name and a girl name before we get to the delivery room. 25 weeks left, seems like a lot of time right? Well, it's not. Names are permanent, and I will put a lot of thought into choosing one. I started browsing through thousands of names today, I'm keeping a running list. I stumbled across this one that made me laugh out loud, I had to share.

Stoner
The name Stoner is a baby boy name. The name Stoner comes from the English origin. In English the meaning of the name Stoner is: Stone.

Ann (a name searcher) left this comment: (those are her typo's not mine)

Please, nobody name their child Stoner. That is an aweful name and they will be made fun of their entire lives! A stoner is somebody who smokes a lot of marijuana, so you really don't want to pick this name for your lovable little babay.

Phone Pic Friday: Pink People Eater

I'm not sure what to say or think about this...

Observational Humor

For some reason as I was driving to work today, I started reminiscing about The Tom Green Show. Back when the Tom Green Show was actually on the air, Ammon and I were loyal viewers. Dare I even admit, we miss the show now that it's off the air? We do. Some aspects of the show were more funny than others, but I always found myself laughing more than not. And, I loved watching how gutsy Tom Green is -- even more than that, I loved watching how people react to him. I don't think I could ever say the things he says to people with a straight face.

Anyway, this post doesn't really have a point or a purpose... just some humor for a humdrum Wednesday.

P.S. Someone once told me they saw physical similarities between Ammon and Tom Green. I don't see it, and thank goodness for that.

I never considered myself a Molly... this tote says otherwise

My friend Amber has forever been on the hunt for the perfect church tote. And after an endless search, she finally took matters into her own hands. I can't say I blame her, a cute, comfortable bag makes all the difference in the world.

When she designed her bags, she must have had someone like me in mind. See, I throw all my stuff in a bag and it ends up looking something like this...

This bag isn't working (only, I didn't realize it sucked until I saw what Amber had up her sleeve). Everything in my bag gets bent, wrinkled, squished... it's a mess. At the bottom, you can find cracker crumbs, new - - but unwrapped gum (that probably shouldn't be chewed now), a water bottle that is leaking all over papers, spilled lotion, and mushed up fruit snacks. This bag has no shape, no form and no function.

This is where Amber comes in. She started her own company, MollyGear. She's been making cute scripture cases for years and just recently started producing tote's and t-shirts. I just bought a tote yesterday, at a very reasonable price...

Everything has a place in my new bag. I'm one step closer to being organized. To see what this tote can really do, watch the video below. And, if you decide to purchase your own, use this code MGFRIEND to get 20% off.
