Hey, you busy? Then let me ask to a couple of questions real quick. First one is, have you ever PLAYED a sport while WATCHING a sport? Secondly have you ever rooted for two teams at the SAME time...simultaneously? Lastly, you ever BOWL while wearing a FOOTBALL jersey on? Reason why I'm asking is that, if you answered NO to all three then next Sunday (Feb. 5th, YES Super bowl Sunday) we're giving you the opportunity to do ALL three!!! Yep, if you haven't figure it out by NOW what I'm really trying to say is, this year the Block Association along with co-host the Journ3y Men will be hosting the 3rd Annual "My Uber Super Bowl Party" at a bowling alley...Chelsea Piers bowling alley to be exact! This is be the first of TWO things! One that will NOT in our beloved town of Brooklyn AND the fact that this is the first time we're hosting one that a NYC team will play in! Man, talk about better late than EVER!!! About a month ago I had this dream where I was attending an event packed front to back with beautiful people all well dressed dancing, and toasting the start of a new year! Come to find out thanks to these pictures I wasn't dreaming AT ALL! It's was actually images from our very last Prim & Proper dinner party (@Hotel Chantelle) in December and the Franklin & Dean New Year's Eve event the became a champagne memory lost but not forgotten. THANK GOD a camera was present so EVERYTHING was a total lost. Oh BTW Prim & Proper for this month (Mon. Jan. 30th) will be CANCELLED! Yes CANCELLED! Sorry for any inconvenience but we're planning something HUGE for the following month of February to come back STRONG so we're taking the night off. So save these dates Sun. A couple of Tuesdays ago, I had the pleasure of not only attending author Demetria Lucas' (along w/ GVG) cocktail event ("Cocktails With Belle"), but I was personally requested to capture the joyous occasion on film as well. The venue of choice for the gathering was the newly opened Ludlow Manor (in LES), that was packed within an hour and half of the start of the event. With the buzz that 600(!) RSVP were received for the party, one should have figured it would be elbow to elbow in there! Anyways through so skillful navigation and a steady arm, I managed to bust off some good shots (and video footage) before it was "man down" due to some really loaded drinks being served.

It had ALMOST slipped my mind, but THANK GOD I remembered check my e-mails to confirm the last date of Capsule (retail trade show) wasn't missed. And just my luck...It wasn't! WHEW! So after work I made my way down to their newest location, somewhere I wasn't familiar with, on the West end side of town. Google mapped it, was preregistered already, got the "entree beads" and started to make my rounds. Gotta say they outdid themselves this year! It was OVERWHELMING the sheer amount of booths and brands that were set up around the MASSIVE space! I didn't know WHERE to start! I ran into stylist and image consultant Keino Benjamin and just shadow him for a while going from booth to booth getting a feel from what's to come for the coming seasons. I made a short list of the brands that you DEFINITELY need to start checking for if you haven't started already. I placed stars next the brands I feel will be break out fashion phenoms. Plus I posted pics of stuff that caught my eye that NEED to go in my closet ASAP!

PLEASE tell me you had to be out of town, or had a prior engagement that could NOT be broken. I'll even believe a family emergency as an excuse! If you weren't preoccupied by one of those three things, I see NO reason whatsoever that you could have miss this past Sunday's "the Country Club" brunch party (Hosted by Gary Grant & the Block Boys) held at the overwhelmingly beautiful Duo restaurant! Okay okay you're NOT a morning / evening socialite, I get that. Then WHAT happening to you making it to the "La Vita" after party @ Hotel Chantelle? If you missed THAT one, it's an epic #fail on your behalf man. Don't get me wrong the daytime brunch party was "the bizness!" But when we reach H.C. by 10:30 to all meet up again to celebrate a ton of b'day parties, namely the Block Association's media guru Gary M.F. Jourdain, that's when the ties came off, and the bobby pins came out the hair! Special S/O to both DJ C. Devone (Duo) & DJ Goldfinger (Hotel Chantelle) that did an AMAZING job with each set played at both locations. Pure AWESOMENESS! I wanna say that Sunday was THEE BEST double header / back to back event we've EVER pulled off! But the year JUST started, so I'll save the applause for the next one we're planning on doing. Okay folks we are almost down to the wire! 2 days and a couple of hrs till 2012 and the historically large black tie event about to happen in the great city of Brooklyn! So question, are you straight with tickets? Have you gotten or even MADE your outfit yet? Comfy shoes? Gotcha ride or car service squared away? COOL! Then for those of you that don't cause you got caught up with all the holiday shopping, then here's the COMPLETE LISTING of all things "Franklin & Dean" NYE event to fill yourself in and be up to speed.

the LOCATION:
KAI Studio located on Dean St. (1011 to be exact. betwn. Classon & Franklin)
It's NOT a club but an event space, that's considered one of Bklyn's best kept secrets. It boasts two spacious floors (one over looking the other), 30 ft. ceilings w/ draped walls, all white interior, back wall bar and platformed seating area for a party of 12. When you attend and see it first hand, it will make PERFECT sense to you just why we decided to host it there.

the TRANSPORTATION:

the B48 Bus runs down both Classon and Franklin (even though I highly doubt you'll be coming by bus). the C or shuttle train to Franklin Ave. with a four block walk will get you the closet by train. Or splurge and take a cab. You deserve to arrive in style right! Make sure you have a # on the way home too...LOL!

Man! What can I REALLY say about this film? Well first off it's the most bizarre movie I've ever seen since that scene on Pulp Fiction where Bruce & Ving gets raped in that hill billy pawn shop! Yep, it's THAT weird left field sh** that slightly believable only cause we've heard weirder s**t on the news. Anyway without given too much of the plot away, Puss in boots...sorry Antonio Banderas plays a highly respected, well paid doctor who's lost everything and is trying to play God by getting it all back. Experimenting a new skin grafting technique that uber controversial in his field. But that's just the surface stuff. The movie covers EVERYTHING from rape (twice in the movie), murder, adoption, abandonment, kidnapping, voyeurism, egotism, over parenting, and THEN some! If you don't leave the theater with your jaw wide open then you walked into the WRONG film my friend! Check yo ticket stub! This is by far one of the strangest twist I've ever encountered watching a film...and I applaud! I'm giving this 4 1/2 M's outta 5!

With just TWO Days to find a new location "Prim & Proper" went back to it's roots of being an actual "flash mob" last Monday when we invaded Hotel Chantelle's roof top restaurant lounge! It was 80% of our usual mad house capacity, but BOY were folks jamming! What helped with another successful episode was the abundance of birthdays being celebrated (namely Athena's & Fifi's) that brought out folks way pass our normal cut off time. By the reaction of the folks that turned out I think we may have found a NEW home of this dress up dinner series folks are lovin'. Damn this year just FLEW pass huh?!? But if you didn't make the best of it then you can only blame YOURSELF! In 2011 NYC witnessed the birth of the Block Boys burst onto the social scene. A group of positive well dressed brothers, comprised mostly the male members of the Block Association, with two new close friend editions (Cory Brown & Carlo Lahens). We helped revitalize a social circle void for working class well to do fashionable folks looking to party young among mature peers. Between EVERYTHING from house parties to day time roof top affairs, to Monday night dinner parties, I will humbly say "mission accomplished!" Hands down, this year was the MOST fun I've had in my adult life EVER! But we have some time left to go. Which brings me to this...New Year's Eve. Carlito (Haciano/Block Boys) LOST his camera on Halloween night, which was the night of our last #FlashMobDinnerParty over at Beauty & Essex. And after damn near TWO and a half weeks of frantically searching for it and giving up hope, at last it was found!
