Dutch is putting words together at an incredible rate. Yet, his favorite phrase is “oh no!”

Yesterday he started lengthened the expression to:

“Oh no! What’s that?”

This morning over oatmeal we asked him, “Dutch, how old are you?”

His answer:

“Two!”

Ah, our boy genius!

Celebrating a first sentence

Left home this morning and our son said his first sentence ever (in response to a question from Mommy):

“No, I want Dada.”

After I left he started a coloring project for me (Daddy) to see when I get home tonight. Kari sent this picture of him creating.

Yesterday I stayed home in the morning to wake up with Dutch and read and play with him, knowing that I wouldn’t see him at the end of the day as had high school group.

At dinner time I sent a text message to Kari: “Tell Dutch daddy loves him.” She said that when Dutch heard the phone beep he said “Dada.” Then they took this picture — Dutch folding his hands in his “I love you” sign. Makes a father’s heart melt.

His name
Dadda
Mama
dumptruck
dump & truck (those two as completely separate, in different contexts)
water (”wahwah”)
“dump it” (referring to water)
wall
car (Bostonian accent and all, “cah”)
Oma
Nana
Papa
and today he spontaneously said “Bible” (clear as day, over and over!)
