What Does Pet Names Say About You?

We love our pets. They are an extension of ourselves in a way, and they become members of our family. With that much importance in a pet, what does the name of our pets say about us?

When choosing a name for our pet, we often, without really noticing, pick names that reflect our own personalities or idiosyncrasies. For example, it is said that if you name your pet Bear, you may be an outdoorsy type or require some protection in your life. Or if you have a Teddy, maybe your a snuggly type and want that trait exhibited in your pet as well.

Even naming your pet after certain celebrities or well-known public figures factor into the traits you like. My dog, Hooper, is named after Matt Hooper from the movie ‘Jaws‘. The character in the movie was very intelligent, but also extremely goofy. A very fitting name for a Boxer!

Although names that went down in history may sound or seem cool with a big fierce-some dog, it is advised not to name your dog with names associated with power such as Zeus. Animals can sense the connotation put into a name. So, the next time you get a pet, decide on something that genuinely expresses yourself, but feasible traits you’d like to see exhibited by your furry friend. A recent post from The Cary News shared an informed story about the classes that more older people have been joining to learn more about technology and computers.

Mary Ellington, age 74, says that she knew it was time to learn more about computers when her 9 year old grandson asked her for her email address and she didn’t have one.

Senior’s into Social Networking

I personally know seniors who are over the age of fifty or sixty who say they don’t want anything to do with computers or the internet, they think it’s to hard to learn.  But that’s not true.  I also know seasoned elders over the age of sixty who are eager to learn more about the digital world of computers and technology.  My father, who is sixty plus years old, just got himself a smart phone and he has begun to text more; which is pretty cool.  My mother is practically becoming fluid at the language of Facebook and has become quite the Facebook social networking.  If you haven’t logged on yet consider this: Technology and Computers aren’t hard they are just different.

Pool parties are fun and it’s always great to get to know more of our neighbors and residents here at The Apartments at Arboretum in Cary, NC.  That is why this Thursday from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. we will be having a resident pool party.  This is an opportunity for us to party and socialize while having a cool time hanging out pool-side.

A pool party is one of the greatest events that you can host in the summer time. Why shouldn’t it be?  Whenever there is food and music at pool-side then you’ve got an instant successful event.

So let’s socialize, meet and greet more of the people that we live with with free food and music.  The weather man says that it will be 90 degrees, sunny and ideal to be at our community swimming pool. There is an 80% opportunity for Sun Shine all day long 8/26/10.

It’ll be great finally having an opportunity to speak with some of your neighbors and put a name to a face.  We look forward to seeing you Thursday.  If you have any music requests bring your ipod and we may be able to play some of your tunes to get the pool party jumping.

Google Verizon Tablet PC

Google and Verizon Wireless have a schedule a launch date for their new PC Tablet. November 26, 2010 Black Friday.

Many people have been turned on to a more convenient way to share information, consume information and surf the internet.  We quickly moved from the desk top to the laptop, then to the net-book and now the tablet.  Smart phones have made their mark as well in our fast world of information exchange.  It would be quite the challenge to find someone in our nation who has NOT heard of the iPhone or the iPad.

But how many of our business professionals here at The Apartments at Arboretum have heard of the new Verizon Tablet using Google Chrome OS?

There hasn’t been much info released yet on this new Google Verizon Tablet.  But the news is that it will be priced lower than the iPad, have 2G of Ram, use a sleek design with a wide screen resolution display, run off of 3G wifi and 32G storage.  Google Chrome OS is ideal for tablet also.  So only time will tell how this Google  tablet will play out.

Drum Circle

If you haven’t heard The Snyder Family Band yet then come out to the Sermota Amphitheater – Bond Park on August 14, 2010.

The Snyder Family Band is a musical ensemble of something really nice and blue-grassy.  It all started with the son and daughter of Bud and Laine Snyder, Zeb, age 14, and Samantha, age 11, combining their talents and creating a musical duo.  With Zeb on the guitar and Sam playing the fiddle it wasn’t long before Dad receive a upward bass for his birthday and out emerged a trio from the Snyder Family.

But it didn’t stop their after a few shows and unexpected performances Mom began to add her wonderful voice to the Family band along with Sam as a vocalist and Presto!  You now have what is known as the Snyder Family Band sweeping all across Cary, North Carolina.

Of course they may be able to tell the story a bit better than us over here at the Apartments at Arboretum, but, it’s their story.

Have you ever taken a vacation or a business trip and felt like your energy was drained afterwards?

Well even the most frequent flyers would tell you that after a long journey you may experience jet lag but there are some things that you can do to minimize the impact that jet lag can have on you.

Preparing to travel well in advance will help to reduce stress

Avoid Jet Lag

We can’t prevent every unfortunate situation but if we do everything in our control to organize and prepare for our vacation then we can avoid many of the small things that can ware at our patience.

Jet lag is when you feel fatigue or sleep disturbance that comes from frequent disruptions in your sleep or air travel across several different time-zones in a short period of time.  Jet lag is also referred to as
desynchronosis.

Make sure that you relax your body and get some good sleep when you have time.  Exercise is another good way to generate some quality energy within yourself.

eHow.com has a good 8step Process to Avoid Travel Fatigue but remember that to overcome jet lag you have to relax.  While you are on the plane try to just sit up and breath calmly.  Don’t worry about getting rest from a deep sleep but just rest your eyes and focus on your breath.  This exercise alone will reduce your stress tremendously.
