Most gambling apps fall into one of two broad categories: one that let you play for free or play chips or apps that let you wager for real money. While there are a few apps that let you play for real money, the vast majority are for amusement purposes only, or to learn the rules for various casino games or how to count cards at blackjack. Both Apple and Google has been highly restrictive when it comes to approving apps for gambling for real money, so most of the free and premium apps you find will only let you compete for play money.

The Dream Team as they are liked to call themselves have revealed on their blog that, they are closing in on A5 Jailbreak for iPhone 4s. As mentioned by these iOS hackers on their blog a jailbreak “is only a matter of days away”.

A renowned iOS hacker had gathered the Dream Team to assist him on this jailbreak which is for both iPhone 4s and iPad 2. Also he has other hackers like planetbeing, MuscleNerd, and p0sixnija are also involved.
Pod2g mentions on his blog:

“Here are some news about the current work on the A5 research. @planetbeing escaped from the sandbox with the help of @saurik. Thanks to their awesome work, there should be nothing left blocking for the A5 jailbreak. Now it should be a matter of days. Still no precise ETA of course. We all want this to be finished ASAP, we’re getting tired!”

Many of the older version iPhone and iPad users who were not able to get their hands on the new phone were disappointed because of the fact that they were not able to use the new personal assistant Siri which came with the new iPhone 4S.

For such users who have previous version of the iPhone and have jailbroken them can make use of this new tool developed by “chpwn” which will enable iPhone 4 users to run Apple’s personal assistant application, Siri, on their handset. A few days back “chpwn” broke this news on his blog where he mentions of a tool named “Spire” which enables to port Siri on iPhone 4 without any copyright issues.

Excerpts from chpwn:

Spire is my (along with Ryan Petrich) new tool for installing Siri on previously unsupported, but jailbroken, devices. Spire is a small download, but while installing it will download Siri itself (directly from Apple). However, Spire is not a complete solution. Apple still requires authorization to use Siri, so information from an iPhone 4S is still required. To insert this information, Spire allows you to enter your own proxy server address. Spire uses a new method to obtain the files necessary for Siri, so it doesn’t have the copyright issues encountered by previous attempts. Similarly, rather than directing all traffic through a specific proxy server (and the associated privacy issues), Spire allows you to specify your own proxy server.

iPhone users who want to get their hands on this new tool can acquire it on Cydia. It will take about 100MB so hurry!!

To install Siri on your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad follow these simple steps:

In past, not many emulator apps have passed the litmus test, which is to get nod of approval from Apple. But, there have been very few emulator apps that have received Apple’s approval, namely Manomio’s Commodore 64 and a select few. More often than not though, these apps seem to appear on the App store, but are also quickly revoked once noticed. The current status of iMAME is not known(whether its approved or not) but its free and available so, I suggest just go ahead and grab it before its too late.

Although a number of emulators exist on the App Store, Apple has always been very restrictive about these open emulators, due to some legalities. iMAME is an application designed to recreate the hardware of arcade game systems in software on modern personal computers and other platforms. It comes with nine arcade ROMs to play and you can download your free version here.

With 2011 coming to an end, Apple has just about managed to push forward another version of OS X. The new version OS X 10.7.3 build 11d36 has just been released for developers only. The new version is said to have iCloud Document Storage, Address Book, iCal, Mail, Spotlight and Safari as focus areas for developer testing and comes with no documentation of known issues.

OS X 10.7.3 is going to be Apple’s next free maintenance update for its OS X Lion users. This new build if upgraded from OS X 10.7.2 is said to in the region of 986MB otherwise, if up-gradation is done from any of its previous version then you be prepared to keep free space of upto 1.2 GB.

The current version, OS X 10.7.2, was released in mid-October and included support for Apple’s new iCloud services.

Redsn0w, the ever so reliable jail-breaking tool for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch users, has just been updated to version 0.9.9b9b, and brings a couple of new things to the fore. With this new release, the Dev-team has concentrated on the actual software from Apple.
