Three Piece Blues and my favourite controversial tie of the season

The Armoury is now stocking the Asian Fit Barbour Bedale. A slim cut with lightweight green waxed cotton. Ideal for life in the sub-tropics. 

A very British cloth by a very British tailor. 

I elaborate: the cloth is known as a “solaro” cloth. Back in the day, people used to think red was more effective at reflecting heat than white was and so red cloths would be more suitable for the summer. The solaro cloth is an iridescent, red/green/tan cloth with a deep red base to it that was designed for hot weather wear. Now we have much more effective alternatives but the cloth stays around because it is quite beautiful, albeit an acquired taste.

This particular one was made up by the very talented Kathryn Sargent,
