► Reunited and It Feels So Good

In light of the awesome lineup for Coachella this year, we were inspired to highlight the great bands reuniting in 2012. Refused, Pulp, At The Drive-In and Mazzy Star are all on the bill for Indio, CA this April. The Afgan Whigs – who haven’t played a show in thirteen fucking years, by the way – will be performing in London in May and headlining All Tomorrow’s Parties in New Jersey on September 22nd. The year has only just begun, so we can’t help but wonder if these acts reassembling will bring about the getting together of even more of our favorite bands.

This may not be the coolest thing to admit, but I recently dove into Anton Newcombe’s “Love Child” after an obsession with the rockumentary DIG! Chronicling the 90’s feud between Brian Jonestown Massacre and The Dandy Warhols, it was real, raw, and dangerous. Dare I say, revolutionizing, I saw it as more than the media’s simple perception of the film. It means a great deal to me as a music fan to see and appreciate this beginning. The aftermath of what Anton sparked are discoveries and realizations of music linked, inspired and connected through a neo-psychedelica family tree...

If someone asked me to describe Greg Dulli in a few words, I would say "A fucking bad ass". A staple of 90's rock - he has gotten raw with The Afghan Whigs, seductive with The Twilight Singers, haunting with The Gutter Twins and along the way; the Dulli essence has touched upon and connected with many musicians - spawning some amazing and unusual collaborations. Think of this playlist as a introduction to the Greg Dulli collective, the appetizer before the main course.
