Theatre Skills Term 2

This second set of classes will build upon the skill base you have learnt in our previous term. This class is still open to new students. You do not need to have attended our previous term to attend these classes.

Raise Your Voices: Theatre Terrific Choir

Come celebrate the experience of singing in community and in harmony with others. The choir is open to anyone, regardless of previous musical experience, beliefs or abilities. We'll sing songs from different cultures and traditions that challenge our minds and open our hearts, creating beautiful music in a welcoming, creative atmosphere. Come sing!

Auditions For Water

Theatre Terrific is looking for 15 actors for our upcoming site specific production of Water by Susanna Uchatius.

Water is a site specific piece that will explore water in all of its facets, through music dance and performance. This production will use large puppetry and feature a chorus. Building from last years’ successful The Bread Project, this production will take Andy Livingstone park by storm and bring to life a large scale production centred around Water.

Open to all no experience necessary!

Rehearsals: Rehearsals begin May 8 and are Tuesdays & Thursdays Time to be Confirmed
Run: The show runs June 29 to July 8 on Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays at
2pm.

Pay: Honorarium

Audition Dates: Sunday 29^th and Monday 30^th April 2012

Stage Manager

Looking for a stage manager for Theatre Terrific's new site specific
show WATER.

It is a site specific show at Andy Livingston Park (near Stadium
Skytrain) and will feature a cast of 15 and a large custom made
puppet.

will include:
- scheduling and running rehearsals
- communicating the director's wishes to designers and craftspeople
- Coordinating the work of the volunteer crew
- Possibly running sound during the performance
- overseeing the entire show each time it is performed
-make sure rehearsal props and furnishings are available for the actors
- attend all rehearsals
- notify the designers and craftspeople of changes made in rehearsal

There is a $1000 honorarium available for this position.

The Story Arthur Miller Didn’t Want Told

Part 2- The Mother

World renowned playwright, Arthur Miller (Death of a Salesman, The Crucible, All My Sons) and his last wife, photo journalist Inge Morath had a daughter and then a son. Daniel Miller was born with Down syndrome, institutionalized and erased from the family at birth.

Egni’s Eye is a mother’s photo journal diary… brought to life! What happens when the baby does not come home? What do you tell your daughter?... your friends?... yourself?!

Egni’s Eye is inspired by this true story. Egni is a palindrome of Inge’s name that she used to help sell her photography in a post-war world biased against all things Germanic. Inge and Arthur met on the set of The Misfits when Miller was still married to Marilyn Monroe. Inge had been hired as an on set photographer. Miller and Monroe subsequently divorced. Inge and Miller married had a daughter and three years later in 1966, a son, Daniel Miller, born with Down syndrome. His existence was never acknowledged. Neither parent’s obituaries, Miller's autobiography Timebends or any of their many publications acknowledge Daniel's existence as a member of the Miller family. This secret was kept until 2007, where-in the VANITY FAIR article, Arthur Miller’s Missing Act, Daniel Miller’s existence was first acknowledged.

Come and work at how to play! Learn how to move on stage with confidence in this Theatre Terrific introductory class which includes short scenes, vocal exercises, movement and theatre games. Each term will finish with public presentation for family and friends. 16 years and up. We welcome and encourage students of all abilities to attend.
