Some people know nothing about college basketball.

On today’s final show of the 2009 NBA season — pop champagne! — Tas and I breakdown the series clincher for the Lakers. Why the letdown for Orlando? Did Stan Van use his guards correctly? Does Kobe finally get his props? Was this series an overall disappointment for Dwight? Lots of questions, obviously. All that, and we take some time to thank you, our viewers, listeners and fans for the support, as well as discuss The Jones’ summer plans.

Thanks, Mike.

Skeets, Melas and J.D.,

My name is Michael and I just wanted to thank you for having your videos be an incredibly calming experience for me. I am a recovering Seattle SuperSonics fan and for the longest time was so repulsed by everything related to basketball that I would be noticeably upset for long stretches of time.

However, your videos helped me realize that basketball is still something beautiful. I still hate David Stern and the Oklahoma City franchise and wouldn’t pass up an opportunity to humiliate either. (Ex. I chanted “Go Sonics!” wearing a green and yellow Durant jersey behind the visitors bench when the Thunder were in NYC and Durant gave me a fairly apologetic look.) But I have been following the sport and will continue to as long as I have the Jones to watch the next day.

Thank you very much and I hope you guys have a great offseason.

Sincerely,
Michael J.

TBJ on The Score, Ep. 004

In case you’re still in the dark, Grandma, Twitter has become one of the fastest growing social networks on the planet. Therefore, it’s no surprise that NBA players have jumped on board to increase their personal brand as well as to connect with their fan base. From Shaq to Nash to Bosh to Odom, Twitter is slowly taking over the NBA (and world) 140-characters at a time. But has the tweetin’ madness gone too far? TBJ takes a look.

Ep. 454: Game 4

On today’s show, Skeets and I ask a lot of questions related to Game 3 of the NBA Finals. Can the Lakers assume Orlando won’t shoot 62.5% again? Did Lamar Odom forget to eat his sour keys? And will Kobe ever become a coach? All that, and we explore the death of The Skyhook, the re-birth of Rafer Alston and the blockbuster Kapono-Evans trade.

On today’s show, Skeets and I welcome Lamar Odom to the 2009 NBA Playoffs, applaud Kobe handling the double team and yell about whether Cleveland and Los Angeles were given too much credit coming into the postseason. Oh, we also discuss the refs, much to our chagrin.

On today’s show, Tas and I marvel at what could be Dwight Howard’s coming out party, Game 4’s solid officiating (in all seriousness) and LeBron’s overtime. We also touch on Mo Williams’ verbal mistake, Mike Brown’s puzzling moves and Dwight vs. Shaq at the free throw line.

We get a lot of email at The Basketball Jones wondering how Tas and I prepare for a show. (Ha! Yeah right!) So, in order to answer your (fake) question, we produced a short behind-the-scenes video, inviting you in to watch a game with us.
