Jay Cutler Teams Up with Lilly to Send Children to Diabetes Camps

In the 2009 NFL season, Jay Cutler’s success matters to more than just Chicago Bears fans. That is because for each touchdown pass Cutler completes, Eli Lilly and Company will donate $1,000 to the American Diabetes Association’s (ADA) “campership” fund -- roughly the cost of sending one child to a attend a week of diabetes camp.

And, this donation is just the start of Cutler’s partnership with Lilly. For each pass that Cutler completes during the 2009 season, Lilly will donate an additional $100 to the “campership” fund.

Run primarily by the diabetes camps are an important place for children to connect and learn more about managing their diabetes. With the diagnosis of type 1 diabetes on the rise in children across North America these camps serve as an important vehicle to help inspire children with diabetes to achieve their goals - and let them see that diabetes doesn’t have to stop them from being who they want to be.

Diagnosed with type 1 diabetes following his sophomore season in the NFL, Cutler has become more involved in raising awareness about diabetes. During this past off season he visited children’s hospitals across the country and helped families affected by diabetes.

Reading the power rankings on CBS, ESPN, Fox etc I keep seeing that the Bengals are one play away from being 4 - 0.

Hello. So are the Bears. But I've not seen any reference to that.

Give credit where its due, the Bears could have, should have won the first game of the season despite Cutler having an horrendous debut.

So I read that Bears Tight End has made a few disparaging comments about the state of the Soldier Field pitch. I can't say I blame him as the surface as been awful for awhile now much to the disgust of both Bears and opposing players.
And it's not just Soldier Field that has problems - you seen the state of Heinz Field.

It amazes me that multi-million pound organisations can't get the playing surface right. (And I know its the Chicago Park District that's responsible for it's upkeep). In an age where English Premier League clubs have invested in under soil heating, improved drainage and play 25 - 30 games a season on them you would have thought American groundsmen could do the same.

Newest Bears Take Positive Steps

LAKE FOREST, Ill. – The Bears concluded their three-day rookie minicamp with their third and final non-contact practice Sunday at Halas Hall.

The rookies then scattered across the country, heading home following their first taste of the NFL. Draft picks, undrafted free agents and possibly even a few of the tryout players will return to Lake Forest May 20 when the Bears begin organized team activity (OTA) workouts.

LAKE FOREST, Ill. – Teammates at Northwestern the past four seasons, quarterback C.J. Bacher and receiver Eric Peterman are chasing their NFL dream together just up the road from Evanston.

AKE FOREST, Ill. – Juaquin Iglesias realized a dream last Sunday when he was selected by the Bears in the third round of the NFL Draft. But it didn’t truly sink in until Thursday when the Oklahoma receiver arrived at Halas Hall.

“Once you get drafted, you see your name roll across the screen,” Iglesias said. “But it doesn’t really hit you until you get here. Once you pull up at the gate where it says ‘Chicago Bears,’ that’s when it started hitting me. And I’m happy to be here. I’m excited and I’m just ready to go.”
