Wooow, hefty hefty week! but it's now the weekend so nuff work chat and on with the music!!!

This one is amazing, trust me. The man turned up Sunday night, his set time was changed, he was playing to a room full of melters and to kick things off he had to wait half an hour while the tech crew sorted out his decks. As you could imagine the big baldy was no impressed. But like a true professional he carried on and even managed to crack a smile or two on his wee face while dropping classic after classic after classic. The man is a legend.

Woooo!! things have been kicking off over the past month and so the post are coming slow and dribbly...

Bloc was a monster!! got some quality mixes from Billy Nasty, The Black Dog, Phuture 808 and A Guy Called Gerald. They'll all be up on Radio Magnetic soon so I'll let you know when.

Bloc Weekender '08

It's almost that time of year again where thousands of ravers from around the UK descend on a very unsuspecting Pontins Holiday Resort in Great Yarmouth and cause utter mayhem along to a soundtrack of savage techno, disgusting dubstep, a ton of Acid House and any other form of WUMPH or MING.

The Bloc Weekender first graced the UK Festival circuit last year in '07 and has quickly risen to become one of the most important dates on the calendar for cutting edge, hard hitting electronic music. An amazing achievement by anyone's standards.

This year The Beat Delivery will be covering the weekend with Radio Magnetic once again and I'll be bringing back some quality audio goodies. We've got a massive list of sets we want to record and bods that we'd like to interview so fingers crossed we'll get hold of them.

Ah its been a while I know but I'm still here and still locating the topper most mixes and music bits for ya.

Excuses :
1) My best/flat mate Scouser John has left the building for warmer climates and fatter cheques. God speed!!
2) My lapop and car have both packed it in in the same fortnight and I'm now getting heavy withdrawl symptoms.
3) RadioMagnetic is taking off and servicing it myself is becoming tricky. Got some brilliant work experience girls in so spending more time developing programs and ideas. watch this space...
4) my web2.0 genius is in hot demand from another client and got 8 days work to fit into 5.

Right enough bitching, time for something truly amazing. If you'r doing work this will help you bash it out a bit quicker, If you'r doing the dishes get ready for some soggy socks and if it's the weekend get ready to blast your ass out the door to the club of your choice!!

Possibly the best radio DJ at the minute, Rinse FM's N-Type, has produced possibly the best Breezeblock mix ever!!

Now I might get a bit over excited now and then but this is fact! If you haven't listened to N-Types show then you're missing out. He's the god of banter! You have to listen to his chat to believe me. Best bits I've heard so far include screaming foxes that are actually shagging, getting attacked by his cat and going for nice country walks with the missus (legend). He's also the peoples champion and was voted best dubstep DJ 2 years in a row by the pundits on dubstep forum

The mighty Radiohead played live on Later with Jools Holland this week on BBC 2.

Unfortunately I missed it like many of you I'm sure but don't get downhearted because......
The gigantic monolithic monster that is the BBC have actually got their arse in gear and you can now not only view high quality videos through the site and their iPlayer (inventive name guys) but you can link and embed all their videos as well!!! Brilliant.

The end of Dubstep?

During lunch today I went on a mission to buy some haggis to celebrate Rabbie Burns Nicht the nicht and on my way back form the butchers none other than Edith Bowman was playing Benga & Coki "Night"!?!

Could this herald the end of Dubstep as we know it? Is this the first ever day time mainstream radio play of a dubstep track? First I hope not and second, probably? I've now heard this track three times on Radio 1, once on Zane Low which I guess is acceptable and now at 14:10 on Edith Bowman. Edith's no bad, she's a Scottish lass done good and she's probably got a half decent taste in music but the fact that Radio 1 have playlisted Benga is a bad sign. If I heard on day time again I might have to stop playing it altogether and I don't want to cause its one of the top tracks in my small collection.

If anyone at Radio 1 reads this... take dubstep off the daytime playlists please! It's just gonna get ruined. It's not that I want to keep it to myself but as soon as it goes overground its over and there's so much more to come. I know it.

Fabric Rejected Justice mix

To all those who are fans of Justice and of good quality disco cheddar you NEED to check this out!!

Apparently the story goes that Justice put together a mix for the Fabric mix CD series but Fabric turned round and rejected it!!??!! Now you can read into this any way you want. Maybe it was too ahead of the game for Fabric, Maybe they've been listening to so much minimal they forgot to how to smile or maybe (my theory) they listened to it and thought " shit this is really good disco, its like the best party mix I've heard all year! but wait LCD have a disco mix that's no where near as good as this." Although I'd still recommend it to anyone! "what if we piss LCD off because Justice are much better at disco than them, even though their from NY??", "We have to reject it!"

Now maybe this is the way it went down I don't know but its a great conspiracy. It could be that Fabric deliberately rejected it to get some press about their CDs. Its quite possible that fans would listen to the Justice mix and think " WOW thats amazing!! I wonder what the other Fabric CDs are like" I hope for Fabric's sake thats the way it went down. Its a bit of a coy marketing stunt but it's worked cause this mix is EVERYWHERE on the net.

Le Web 3 (not dodgy fabric mix)

So for the past two days I've been sitting at my laptop in the office working away but instead of listening to the new Fabric Mix (I've got better dubstep than that. poor effort) I've been watching and listening to Le Web 3 which is in internet conference that took place in Paris. It looked great and I'd love to geek it up at Le Web but tickets cost about a grand!?! So I watched the live feed instead.

Possible the biggest insight and education on whats happening with web 2.0 todays. However it was interesting to note that podcasting wasn't talked about during the seminars in the main conference hall, is it old hat? Maybe its just in the main stream now so geeks aren't interested.

Anyway one of the most amazing discussions I've listened to this year happened between Marc Canter (Broadband Mechanics), Tariq Krim (NetVibes), Hans Peter Brondmo (Plum), Patrick Chanezon (Google) and Susan Kish (European Energy Forum). All discussing and arguing over the future of social networks, privacy issues and how these networks will hopefully start integrating to allow users to enter info once rather than 5, 10 or 20 times.

A little bird pointed my nose in the direction of this audio recording of the debate. The start is cut off but basically we enter the discussion when Google has started talking about its new open social platform which I hear will one day integrate into their open mobile platform. I can't wait!!!

The FIrst Blog

So this is the first blog of many on my company The Beat Delivery.

As you'll see from my profile The Beat Delivery is a new start in the fielsd of content ditribution the many wondorous facets of web 2.0 and throughout this blog I aim to explore the different projects that my company is involved in and hopefully drum up some debate on how we use such media to reach the goals of our clients.

This isn't purely meant to be a diary of what we do but more a discussion on the current usage of web 2.o to meet clients needs and expectations. Although it will probably start off as such.

Currently I am involved in content managing Radio Magnetic which is an independent internet radio station broadcasting through the means of on demand listening. The genres covered by the station are both thought provoking and cutting edge. It's currently in a state of flux since it's listenership is growing and we are currently developing to embrace new listeners and meet the demands of out already loyal fan base.

As well as this I am starting and managing an online community for an education company called TLG Education which specialises in study skills and teacher training to this effect. So far we have entered the realms of Bebo and have become quite successful compared to our peers in a very short length of time. I hope that many of you will be interested in the use of such online communities to engage their members in the subjects concerned with such clients.

The most recent project which is currently coming to an end in the new year is Trocabrahma has investigated the use of podcasts and online communities to help push the Brahma brand. Please take a look at www.trocabrahma.net and feel free to cast any light on what has been a very exciting and educational project for myself.

In the mean time I'm off to tinker with the layout of this blog and loo forward to meeting liek minded individuals involved the above areas.
