Dakasi: My love for milk tea is back!

My milk tea addiction is back. Oh no! Yes...oh no because I've been trying to maintain my weight since the Good HouseKeeping Wedding Dress Challenge ended (will talk about it once the issue comes out in June).

I've been curious about Dakasi, since my friends in Instagram (add me up! kimrodz) kept on raving about it. But I didn't try it and kept my promise to myself. And I thought I completely forgot about milk teas. Until I was invited by Liz to do hair and makeup for Dakasi's photoshoot in Pampanga. I got to taste the Classic Bubble Milk Tea and Okinawa during the photoshoot and men! it's so good. For me, all the milk teas taste the same that's why during my addiction, I was loyal to Bubbatealicious which I think is the cheapest but taste like Chatime of Gongca (for me) or sometimes Happy Lemon because they're kinda different. But Dakasi is so much tastier, milkier (for some flavors), and addictive!

And almost every week after that makeup gig, my hubby and I taste different flavors of Dakasi's milk tea. We try to limit to one milk tea a week just to satisfy our cravings.

If you're a Dakasi newbie and needs recommendations, here are my current favorites: Matcha Brown Rice Milk Tea with pearls or choco pudding (my baby loves it too...I don't know if it's alright to give a toddler milk tea but he grabs it from me). The matcha and the roasted rice crispies is a perfect combination. My hubby and I also loved the Peach Yakult with Aloe Vera. We order this when we are feeling guilty drinking milk tea. We feel this is healthier and good for digestion. Strawberry Au Lait is also one of my favorites. It's not too sweet nor sour.

FLIRT Waxing Lounge opens a new branch in Mandaluyong

Things have been pretty hectic lately. My baby started his summer class a few weeks ago so my hubby and I adjusted our schedules for him. Everything in school is new to him and until now, he still seemed a little bit overwhelmed but slowly adjusting. A while ago when I accompanied him in their classroom he didn't want to let go of my hand but when I told him that I'll just be outside and I'll wait for him to finish, he didn't cry anymore.

So the few hours of "Me time" that I got to spend at Flirt Waxing Lounge last week was so precious. It was a very relaxing one. Remember my post about Flirt last year? This time, they recently opened a new branch near California Gardens Condominium in Mandaluyong (just across Robinson's Grocery Store). It's very near to my place and my kid's school so it's very convenient for me.

This branch is a bit smaller tan their Kapitolyo (Pasig) branch but same relaxing ambiance, posh interior and quality of service.

I love this pink couch! I picture my own makeup studio with this type of girly couch.

They only use high quality products and I love that everything is neat. And it's very important that they sterilize their tools before using too.

They let me try the Flirt Combo 1 (P560). It includes manicure, pedicure and foot spa. It's very sulit especially if you have plenty of time to relax. I love how the staff massaged my hand and feet. And my favorite part was the cold gel. It really soothes tired feet.

One more thing, I seldom go to salons for a mani and pedi because I'm afraid that if I let someone clean my nails, I'd get ingrowns. I specifically asked the staff not to cut the sides of my nails and I was very happy that they listened. Didn't feel a bit of pain. I'm not afraid anymore and I'm very happy to find people who can do my nails regularly.

For my toes, I asked for an ORLY purple with glitters nail color.

And next for me to try is their signature service which is waxing. Here's a photo of their posh waxing room.

I love the fact that I don't have to go to the mall to have a waxing service anymore.

My Current Favorite Dishes at Max's Restaurant

One of my family's favorite things to do during our free time is dining out (eating new dishes and trying out new restos). We are quite adventurous when it comes to food and I realized I haven't been sharing our food adventures in this blog anymore. Don't worry, I'll try my best to blog more often.

I haven't dined at Max's for years. I think ever since their "eat all you can" chicken which my co-workers before and I tried I think 3 times times. I got fed up with their chicken because of that. But

I did hair and makeup for a prenup photoshoot a few weeks ago in Antipolo. After the successful photoshoot, my clients treated the whole team with a dinner at Max's Restaurant in Blue Wave Marikina. They ordered Max's fried chicken (of course!), Tinapa Fried Rice, Sizzling tofu and Monggo guisado. After that I fell in love with Max's dishes once again. I really really enjoyed that dinner, it made the tired feeling go away. I liked most the Tinapa fried rice (oh so good!) I think they made it for the Lenten Season only. You guys have to try it before it's gone like McDonald's Twister Fries. And also the Monggo Guisado (I liked how they cooked it not too thick and it has a hint of chicharon flavor). And lastly the Sizzling Tofu...one of the best dishes of Max's.

I can't forget the food that we ate that day so I asked my hubby to have dinner there a few days ago so he could taste the tinapa rice I've been raving about. He liked it too! But we didn't order the monggo because he doesn't eat foods high in uric acid.

So there....I highly recommend that you try these foods the next time you eat there :)

Wedding Makeup: Ninai and Cas

Ninai is one of my clients I'll remember the most. When I was doing her makeup, I told her she reminds me of Bianca King but her mom said her friends say she looks very much like Icy. Oh well...she's still very pretty isn't she? She's a sorority sister of fellow blogger Donnarence (Thanks Donna for the recommendation!)

Her requests for her makeup, make her eyes bigger and make her face look happy. She said that her mom loved the trial makeup we did 2 weeks before her wedding :) And I was very glad that she loved her look on her wedding too.

NEW Zest-O Slice Fruit Drinks

The boys in my life love fruit juices very much. So can you just imagine the joy on their faces when a number of fruit juice bottles were delivered to our doorstep last week?

If you can't imagine...it was like this haha! They immediately put a few bottles in the ref so we could taste at once.

The fruit juices I was talking about were the new products from Zesto, Zest-o Slice.

A Group For Makeup Artists: United Makeup Artists of the Philippines (UMAP)

When I have a goal, I seek for people who have the same goals as mine to share knowledge and experiences and help each other. Just like when I was preparing to breastfeed my baby, I had a support group online and I attended monthly meeting where one can share her concern and those who have an experience already shared how she dealt with it. And my breastfeeding journey was very much successful and smooth because mainly of that group that's why I am very grateful to them.

I also have a friend who leads a weight loss support group (#SpartanTransformation in Instagram and Twitter) which I am very interested to join maybe after my GH Wedding Dress Challenge so I could maintain the weight that I have already lost forever. I have seen how her body changed wonderfully and how dedicated they are to their goal so I am a believer of their group already.

Okay so I have talked too much...but my point is just like in the makeup industry, you can't survive alone. Especially if you're a newbie, having a group will help you greatly start up your career. And just before Christmas last year, I've been hearing a buzz about a group named United Makeup Artists of the Philippines (UMAP) already. I've been wanting to join but I wanted to see how the group works first. That's why I was glad when they invited me to their press launch last week held at Conti's Robinson's Magnolia.

I know UMAP is trustworthy because I personally know some of the people who started and currently running it. Eenah and I were seatmates when we had a one day makeup lessons with Makeup Artists Sophie and Brigette when we were still dreaming about having a makeup career and now we're both practicing it :) Judith Pia was the former Product Manager of Paul and Joe (I miss the brand so much!) and now she's handling their family business and doing makeup fulltime.

United Makeup Artists of the Philippines (UMAP ) is a professioal and social organization whose aim is to encourage and achieve the highest standard in makeup artistry. It is a non-stock non-profit organization run by its founding members and a committee of volunteers. It is not a union, but actively works hard to promote and protect its members. It is guided and governed by the following core values: integrity, unity, respect, excellence, diversity, growth, fun and non-political.

Since late last year, they have conducted a number of activities for their members already like: general assemblies, makeup workshops, fashion shows and other makeup gigs. Current perks include professional discounts in various makeup stores like Pure Beauty, Kanebo and Airbrush Diva. There are also discounts on tuition fees and products on the makeup schools of Kay Rodriguez and Jo Barba. And they're currently working for more and exciting activities this 2013.

How to become a member?

Just email the following to membership.umap@gmail.com: Resume, Certificate on the Accredited Makeup Schools (if applicable), and 5 photos of your best work. If you don't have formal makeup schooling but have been in the industry for years, don't worry because they have different membership categories with the same benefits. Get Colour Collection Lipsticks From Me :)

One lipstick brand that has got a lot of good reviews from our top beauty bloggers is the Colour Collection by Tupperware. Some said that the quality comes close to MAC lippies at a very affordable price so I just have to try them. First impression.....the quality is really really good considering that they're very affordable. They have a very wide selection of shades too. But the negative feedbacks I read are: very hard to purchase the products because they're not available online and no swatches. Since I live very near a Tupperware branch, I decided to become a reseller :) I'll also share with you the swatches of the products as soon as I've tried them. But for now, here are the one's I've tried and tested.

This is the lipstick and nail polish set in Pink Chiffon. A very deep pink shade that's perfect if you don't want to go bold as red. It glides easily, very pigmented and has glossy finish. I wore it alone with two swipes on the picture above. Staying power is pretty good as well. This stays perfectly for up to 4 hours if I don't eat or drink but if I do there will still be a hint of color that will stay.

As for the nail polish, I have very small nails but this color made my hands look sexy haha. The nail polish has a very good quality too. I wore this color without chipping for three days considering that I did trial makeups at the bridal fair for 3 consecutive days which means spraying alcohol from time to time and brush cleaner as well. Some long-wearing nail polishes that I've tried last me 3 days as well. This is P350 per set available in 4 shades: bridal pink, Sweet sangria, Tango red and Nude Blush set. I'll show you the swatches of the Bridal Pink asap :)

Colour Collection Mineral Lipstick in Walnut. This is the first product that I wanted to try from Colour Collection ever since Sophie raved about it. It looked really nice on her. Inggitera mode on! haha. Though it would look different depending on the natural color of your lips. See Julia's swatch here. Colour payoff is also different on me (I didn't use any base and gloss on the photo above) but it still looks nice. It's a great everyday lip color. Only P350 each

Colour Collection Mineral Lipstick in Bordeaux. It's red but not too much :) That's the sentence hear most often on my clients who love to wear red but not the Anne Curtis' type of red. On the photo above, I only swiped it once on my lips. See how intense the pigmentation is? Love it. A pretty red for day. And if you want it more red, swipe it once more and that shade will look like this:

Current fave Hair Product: Kerastase Elixir Ultimate Grand Crus

Circa 2010, I suffered from major hairfall (that's after giving birth). So I stopped using all my hair products except shampoo and conditioner and during the times that I am home, I opted not to brush my hair because I was afraid of more hair fall. After that, my hair became stubborn and rough even if I use conditioner (except Dove, it works for me and my current fave).

So I started using some hair care products again which I got from an event I attended before Christmas 2012, the Kerastase Elixir Ultimate purple (rose - for normal hair) and green (immortal moringa - for damaged hair). It has been my favorite ever since. These products are made from precious oils but doesn't make the hair feel or look oily when dry but keeping it so soft, easy to comb and more manageable. I always use either one after shower when my hair is damp. recommended before blowdrying but since I don't always have the time, the first works for me as well. For the scent, they're so mild and don't overpower the scent of shampoo or conditioner. For me it disappears after a few minutes of application.

After months of using, I noticed that my hair is a lot healthier now. Hair fall was lessened dramatically and I love how soft my hair feels after using it. In fact, major salons use this product as well when blowdrying to remove the tangles without hurting the clients. Read my post about the event here to know more about these products.

Frabelle Christmas Hams

It has been a family tradition that all our close relatives from my mom's side celebrate Christmas at my Tito's house in Antipolo. It's only a day to catch up and have fun but it's usually a very memorable one. Here's a photo of my relatives during our Christmas celebration. We weren't on the photo because we left mid afternoon for another party with my hubby's relatives.

The past two years I brought Red ribbon cakes for our potluck. But this time I wanted to taste a different brand of ham, Frabelle (which I got before Christmas). So I cooked this whole Premium Honey-glazed ham before we went there.

The thought of eating christmas hams again is one thing I'm most excited about during holidays. It's one of my favorite kind of food. And to be honest, I've been loyal to a certain brand of ham ever since I was little. I like it when cooked with sugar. But when I tasted Frabelle....oh men it's better! promise! And this is what I'll be buying next December.

And I think these are the reason why Frabelle is better: 1) It's naturally smoked using natural woodchips. so you could really taste the smokiness all the way inside. 2) It's caramelized with sugar and pure honey so no need to cook it with sugar. I like the taste as it is. 3) They use prime whole-muscle ham. Malaman! I don't eat taba so this is what I really like about this ham aside from the taste.

Will I Fit into my Wedding Dress Again? Let's see.....

Have you grabbed the January issue of Good Housekeeping already? The very stunning Gi Tongi-Walters is in the cover. To be honest, even if I am not on the issue, I would really buy it because the topics are very interesting and perfect for the after holidays esp for people who are having difficulty with weight management like me.

And as I've said, you'll find me in it! Haha....yes I've accepted their challenge to be able to fit into my wedding dress again after 5 months. When I first heard of the challenge, I told myself "It's impossible!". But my mom-in-law, hubby, tita and sister-in-law encouraged me and told me it's attainable. I was 138 lbs that time and as far as I can remember I was 115-118 lbs when I got married. I hesitated at first because I don't want to broadcast to the world that I am fat. But for years I've been really frustrated with how I became after having a baby. My being overweight affected my self-confidence and it kinda hurts when people laugh at you and say "ang taba taba mo ngayon! anong nangyari sa yo? hahaha" Yes some people can be insensitive to that extent sometimes and I try not to mind but still affects me somehow. I tried dieting and lose a little weight but the fats come back once I cheat. I realized I really need help and guidance in order to lose weight and be healthy again for myself and my family. And so I said yes to the GH Wedding Dress Challenge.

This is how I look when I got married. Oh how I miss that body! haha

After a few months I managed to maintain my weight. This was during the Maybelline "Be Stunning for a Steal" event.

With fellow makeup artists Muriel and Joy. I was 5 weeks pregnant here.

When I was pregnant, I was very mindful of what I eat. So I didn't gain a lot. This was when I was 9 months preggy.

And after the baby came, I ate all the food that I didn't eat during pregnancy. Most food that I eat were from fast foods and take outs because I was busy taking care of him. I was also breastfeeding that time and I thought it's ok to eat because I would burn the calories fast but it really depends on what you eat. So here's what I became after a few months. I still look pregnant in this photo.

And I think this is the fattest I got. This was during one of my hairstyling gigs for Nikki. I think I was 145 lbs. here.

But before the challenge, I was already watching my food intake so when it started I was 136 lbs. Yes my target weight is attainable if I am going to lose 2 lbs a week. It's very difficult but I am working really really hard. And with the help of Good Housekeeping and Fitness First, I know and I believe I can do it!

And here's my current photo during the bridal fair last week. My hard work is slowly paying off. I am now 128 lbs and I feel better. Hi everyone! Sorry I seemed too lazy these past days. I was busy preparing for the Weddings and Beyond bridal fair that happened last week and then I got sick. I was lying in bed for the past 3 days but I'm a bit ok now :)

I just want to thank everyone who tried my makeup services during the fair and those who trusted me to be their wedding makeup artist. Thank you to my hubby and his cousin Candy for helping me with the flyers and setting up my booth. And of course, thank you God for all the blessings! I am living my dream and it gives me so much happiness.

The Truth Seeker: Papulex for Acne Problem

Hello everyone! This my last article for the campaign "The Truth Seeker". The past weeks, I've talked about some of the skin care problems I've encountered on the past and how I dealt with them. I also talked about the different skin solutions legit or not just to cure my skin problems. Sometimes, people are just too desperate and want fast solutions that they try anything without knowing if it's good or bad for our health. To sum it all, if only I was educated properly and was guided to the right people like the dermatologist during those problem days, I might not have suffered for years dealing with those pimples. If only I was able to find the cure at once, who knows? I might have been active during the highschool years instead of being the shy and quiet girl that they've known. Things would have been different right?

But that's the past, lucky girls in this generation have every resources in the world. With proper diet, exercise, the right skin care products to use and right people to consult, there's no reason to have a huge skin problem.

I received a product last November named Papulex which are dermatologically tested and made specifically for acne prone skin. I am now blessed with very little problem on my skin so I asked someone to try it out for me and provide the feedbacks.

A cousin's cousin who's a college student has been suffering acne for years. She's having a hard time curing her acne due to lack of resources and lack of sleep (college students surely can relate). Before using the treatment, she was asked to go to a dermatologist for an initial consultation and advice on the things she need to do to treat her acne. She's been using Papulex for two weeks now and here's her before and after photos. Her feedback about the products: She likes the clean and soft feeling of her skin after using them, Didn't cause any allegies or aggravate the problem. Some of her acne dried out and after two weeks of usage, improvement is already visible.

In curing acne, just be patient with the results, diligent on your regimen and practice self-discipline with regard to foods and exercise. Always be happy, positive and have faith that you'll soon be acne-free if you do the right things.

New Year Post

Hello everyone! Sorry for being MIA for a few weeks. December has been really crazy for me as I am almost out everyday for wedding makeup gigs and events. During the few days that I'm free, I take time to rest and give my family some tlc.

I am proud to be one of the models who walked the ramp for Ferretti last November and helped Philippines break the GuinnessWorld Record's Most Number of People on Catwalk. It was a very unforgettable experience for me because I never thought I would ever walk a catwalk and the most fun about it is that I was with fellow beauty bloggers and it was the first time for most of us.

This is my only decent photo before the event. Thanks to pretty Say Artillero for this! I left all my things in the car including my camera as I was afraid there's no one there to hold our things while we were walking the ramp.

This is the pair of shoes that I wore for the fashion show. Liz Lanuzo chose it for me. I think Liz has a talent at styling people as this pair is very me. I like my shoes to be dainty and very walkable. The heels are only 2 inches so I lasted the hours of waiting and the show itself without feeling any pain.

And of course, Ferretti gave us some perks for modelling for them. I got 2 pairs and a bag. Don't have a photo yet of the bag sorry but it's very nice! If you are a follower of Ferretti's Likepage, you might have seen the photo of celebrity Janeena Chan toting it.

For the shoes, I chose flats as I already have high shoes for events and special occasions. Flats are for my makeup gigs. This pink pair with bow is so cute and girly!

My Bad Skin Habits

This is my fifth post for the Truth Seeker Campaign. Are you guilty of having habits that are bad for your skin? The very first thing I'm guilty about is staying late up at night watching television, surfing the net watching makeup and hair videos while drinking cofee which leads to sleep deprivation. According to Everyday Health, sleep deprivation has not been scientifically proven to damage the skin but don't you notice how bad your skin looks without sleep? As a makeup artist, I notice how different the makeup sets on the face when my client wasn't able to sleep at night before their wedding.

Another thing I'm guilty about is sleeping with makeup on. But this happens very seldom when I'm just over-tired from work. A lot of my friends swear that when this happens to them, they will wake up with a big pimple the next day. This happens because of the dirt accumulated throughtout the day with the makeup on.

Sleeping on the sides and pressing the phone against the cheeks. Sometimes if the things that we constantly use like pillow cases or the telephone aren't sanitized properly, it may cause some skin irritation and even acne.

These bad skin habits are sometimes unavoidable or sometimes you don't even know that it's harmful to your skin. So the only thing we could do is observe proper skin care and use the right skin products to help our skin stay healthy.

Hello everyone! Have you read my posts for the campaign, "The Truth Seeker"? Can you relate on the things I talked about the past few weeks? Well, I'm sure on this topic, most girls will have her own share of experiences.

Highschool years were the worst my skin have ever been. I had a lot of tiny pimples on my forehead, nose, chin and back. I also had white heads on the sides of my nose. I got so ashamed of my skin which was very hard for a teenager, right? So my mom would often suggest old school remedies for me to try just like when she would usually apply coconut milk on my hair when I was a kid.

The first the I've ever tried was the Calamansi scrub. It was scary at first because I know how a sour thing could make a wound ache. But my mom said that calamansi has many skin benefits plus whitening effect. Plus I am a witness on how she would religiously put calamansi on her underarm before taking a bath and was wowed with the result after a few months. It really whitened her underarm! So without hesitation, I tried it for months. For a time, it lessened my pimples. But it made my face super shiny! And I guess, teenage hormones is just too persistent, my skin wasn't totally cured.

The next that I've tried is toothpaste. One of my cousins taught me this. She told me to put a tiny amount of toothpaste on the pimple before going to bed and when you wakeup, it will dry up. This is true but stings a bit. I did this when I had a pimple with an unusual size. It helps reduce the size of the pimple overnight and helps heal faster but what I don't like is the scar it leaves which takes too long to disappear. I had to use spot correctors just to remove the scars.

And last is the Tomato scrub that I learned thru Michelle Phan's video tutorial. I tried it a couple of times but found making it a hassle and messy. I didn't notice any instant effects so I stopped right away.

There are many weird remedies out there that really helps. However, to totally cure a skin problem, I believe that an actual treatment with the right ingredients made by professionals is really needed to totally cure it. I'm very sensitive when it comes to my face and now that I'm an adult, I won't risk putting anything that's not proven effective on my face anymore.

Outfit Post: Lace

I have always been fascinated with lace dresses. It looks vintage but stylish and IMO, it's sexy. I'm not saying I'm sexy because as you can see on the photo, my tummy is bulging haha. But at least, wearing a lace dress made me feel like I am.

I feel that if I lose some more weight, this dress would look better on me. Don't worry I'm already working on it haha! Will post photos in a few months.

Acne Sucks!

Have you guys seen this Youtube video tutorial of Cassandra on how she does her foundation flawlessly despite her acne problem? The effects of having an acne to a person is my 3rd topic for the campaign I'm working with "The Truth Seeker".

Here are some of my observations from the people I know who are suffering from acne:

Because they're shy to let people see their problem skin, the level of self confidence becomes low. The person becomes aloof when other people are around. The effects are grave not only physically but mentally and emotionally. Sometimes, even the love life of a person is affected. Well, I haven't seen anger and depression effects on people yet but I'm sure some people do.

Have you watched Cassandra's video yet? Please do so you'll know what I'm talking about :). I really admire her confidence of showing the world her bare face and for giving hope to others who are in the same condition. What she's doing is extremely difficult and takes a lot of courage. Because of that, she gained a lot of followers, you see? I felt her pain when she cried about it.

She looked like a model on her after photo right? And she looked happy and confident. Only a very few were gifted with a smooth face. This is the reason why most girls like me love makeup, to cover the flaws. But wouldn't it be better if the acne be cured instead of be covered? After all, makeup was created to enhance not to be a mask. That's why each of us must know the proper ways of taking care of our skin how to treat acne effectively.

Truth Seeker: Eat for Healthy Skin

Hello everyone! This is my second post for the campaign I'm working with "The Truth Seeker". If you haven't read my first post about it, the campaign aims to clarify the common misconceptions about skin care and acne. For today's topic, I'll discuss the foods I eat that are good for the skin and the foods that I avoid.

When I was in highschool, I always hear this from friends and relatives not far from my age: "I don't like nuts because it can cause break-outs". I was sad because all kinds of peanuts for me are so delicious and said to be healthy that's why it's called "food for the brain". But I guess we were misinformed. Nuts such as almonds and walnuts are rich in Vitamin E that locks in moisture and keep the skin supple. Just remember to avoid fried and salty nuts which are really bad for the skin.

Since I'm currently watching my weight, I eat nuts that are included in the Nestle Fitness cereals. This has been my breakfast for months now together with a fruit and black coffee.

Black coffee is said to be a brain booster but also a skin booster. It contains antioxidants that can get rid of dead cells. I try to avoid too much sugar and cream these days. Eating plenty fruits in a day gives me the sugar I need. It helps me lose weight and at the same time healthy.

But sometimes I still crave for sweets. What I do is just make right or healty choices. Yoghurt with fruits and nuts is one of the best desserts that's good for the body especially to the skin which at the same time soo delicious. I don't feel deprived or on a diet.

Do you know that yoghurt has zinc that helps reduce pores for smoother skin? It helps even out skin tone too.

Chocolates are rich in flavanoids that can help give the skin sun protection. Yeah, it's fatty but I can't avoid it now that I know that it has some good in it aside from being delicious. What I do is eat a cube of dark chocolate at least once a day just for the cravings.

As for my lunch and dinner, for a month now I've been trying to eat balanced meal which consists of a cup of vegetables, 1 fruit, 1 protein (preferably fish or chicken breast) and half cup brown rice. Of course I have my cheat days. But since the change in my diet and healthy choices, I notice how clear my skin is now. The backne I told you in my last post, it's almost gone. And my face, I still get a number of tiny pimples during a specific week each month but they heal right away without leaving obvious marks.

Now these are the foods that I avoid: chips (which only gives us unnecessary carbs with no other vitamins), too much oil and butter on my food (I prefer steamed, boiled and grilled foods).

If you're suffering from skin problems, right diet and food intake is really the first step of cure. No matter what treatment you undergo and how much money you spend on beauty products, if you eat unhealthy food, all of those are nonsense.

It isn't summer yet but notice how hot it is lately? Well, as a makeup artist, I always pray for sunny weather (for my clients to have a hassle-free event) since I have a number of weddings scheduled until December.

Orange/Coral-Toned clothes are usually my peg lately. Anything that looks cool, bright and happy to help set a positive mood for everyone I encounter. Outfit really helps sometimes right?

Weddings at Tagaytay Highlands

Tagaytay Highlands, I was lucky to have visited this beautiful place for two consecutive weeks because of my work. I love doing hair and makeup but I also love going to places where you could forget the noise of the busy Manila and breathe fresh air. That's one of the perks of being a makeup artist, you see :)

Tagaytay Highlands has different areas with different concepts. That's what I read in one of the posters while waiting for my client. The one in the photo above is Woodlands. This is where Joan, my Nov 10 bride, checked-in for her wedding preps. The houses were made of woods and the place is filled with pine trees.

And this is Woodridge. You'll see condo-type buildings there. My Nov 18 bride, Susie, checked-in at the Penthouse. It's so big (even bigger than my in-law's house).

The view at Susie's room was very nice.

The ceremony of both of my clients was held at Madre de Dios. I was informed prior that the road going there is too steep. We were afraid our car might not make it good thing there was a cable car ride every 30 minutes going to the church and golf course area.

I learned this thru Joan. She opted not to get a bridal car anymore because it was easier and cooler to ride the cable car going to the church :) She had a minute of pictorial during the ride.

This is the view.

I asked my hubby's cousin, Candy, to assist me with the hair last Sunday.

It may seem too steep but it's not creepy really. The cable car is slow and you won't feel like throwing up once you get there. Plus I think the ride only took about 4-5 minutes.

Antipolo Prenup: Pinto Art Gallery

I've been wanting to share you another nice place I've been to weeks ago. But unfortunately, I forgot to charge my camera that day :( At last, the official photos from the couple's wedding photographer, DB Phos, were posted already.

The place I'm talking about is Pinto Art Gallery in Antipolo. I was lucky enough to do hair and makeup for a prenup photoshoot there.

Why I like the place?

They have room where couple can rest and change clothes with bathroom. It's also spacious enough for hair and makeup.

There are many nice spots for photography: indoor and outdoor. But I think the price rate of the upper part is different from the lower where there are more paintings and cafe. I wasn't really able to check that part because I was busy working :D

Bizu has a cafe inside Pinto Art Gallery. I just had coffee. But I know how delicious the food and desserts at Bizu are. Next time I go there, I'll bring money so I could have pasta and cakes :D

Truth Seeker: My Used To Be Backne Problem

From this post and the coming weeks, I'll be working with a campaign named "Truth Seeker". It aims to clarify the common misconceptions about acne and skin care and I'll be sharing with you my own skin dilemmas and experiences to help people suffering from the same things be more informed.

My skin problems started during my puberty stage. But it's a common things as most of us underwent that stage. But come late 20's I still get a few imperfections. Those that are on the face aren't noticeable as I usually get tiny pimples or "tigidig" in Tagalog. Lucky me huh? And people don't even notice the pimple scars because I always conceal them everytime I go out.

However, you won't see me wearing backless or even sleeveless tops that show some back skin. It's not that I'm conservative. But I'm ashamed of how ugly my back is. Yes, those dreaded little dots piled up on my back then.

I tried almost anything possible. I've become obsessed with cleanliness especially on my body because we all know that hygiene is one of the major culprit of skin problems. I don't touch my skin without washing my hands or putting alcohol. I tried not to stress myself with bad things happening around me. I tried eating healthy and sleeping at least 8 hours a day.

After all the natural things I did in order to clear my backne, I wondered why I still have it. It lessened a bit but I still have it. It can be very frustrating. But I guess it's really on our genes because I wasn't the only one having that problem in our family. During that time, all of my siblings (except for my only brother, lucky you!) and some of my cousins are suffering from backne too.

The good news is we're in the modern world already and there's a cure for almost every ailment people have. Just because you inherited that skin condition doesn't mean you can't do something about it. So I tried visiting my dermatologist and having my back cleaned regularly, exfoliation and acne treatment creams. I followed my derma's instructions strictly and applied my treatment religously. I tell you diligence and patience is the key when treating skin problems.

I was trying to find a photo of my back when I had that problem before but I guess I was too shy for people to know I have ugly back then. It's always covered haha. Now I still do not have a smooth back because it comes back once in a while but I'm not ashamed of it anymore. Look, I even wore a tube on my wedding day. I'm glad my perseverance paid off.

OOTD: Blue and Nude

I've been lemming for a nude pumps or wedge ever since I saw Angel Jacob sporting it on two events I attended. Nude shoes match almost any outfit plus it gives the illusion of longer legs by blending in to ones' skintone.

Since I can't wear heels all the time, I opted for a nude wedge instead. I particularly loved this nude wedge by Celine. It's so comfy that I can walk with it all day. Celine makes very nice wedges don't you think? I own a number of shoes from them already and still using them. Every time I wear those wedges, someone comments how nice my shoes are. No fail! :)

Nailpolish: MaxFactor Glossfinity (Marshmallow). It's the best long-lasting nailpolish I've ever tried. Will tell you more about it soon!

I wore this pair of shoes with a blue stripes dress from Celine as well. I've been eyeing on this particular dress for a long time everytime I check Celine's rack of clothes but I was afraid stripes would make me look bigger. But when I tried it, it's nice and I liked how it fit me. Plus the color is really attractive. Blue makes me happy :)
