The first time I heard this it was on some terrible speakers, and I didn’t quite hear it right. My friend was also making fun of Drake’s sing songy rap style. But damn, hearing it on headphones, yes, this is why I have this blog. To post these special moments of musical bliss. Those lil drums in the background, the way she says ‘baby’, shit man.

Shout out to Drake for the Take Care billboard too, so slick.

When this album came out, I thought Kanye was killin’ Jay lyrically, but on this track, Jay Z claims his title. The beat switch, which only these 2 could pull off,  makes it even better when you finally get to 2:53. This song sounds the freshest on the album, the least gimmicky, and lyrically the opulence and black power from both of them is just deadly.

Blue Note, 1974, and it has an awesome record cover. You don’t even need to know how good Donald Byrd is to pick this up. This is his album for me. Great part at the very end of Think Twice that Armand Van Helden samples for Flowerz, it’s a trip the first time you hear it.
