I had searched on youtube for some streams of Half of my Heart, when I found this song. I only realized it was a different song about 2 minutes in… :) Still, a perfect candidate for the blog, it took me about a millisecond to realize how hot this specific 30 second part was. You’ll see. Told you about Mayer, he’s got chops!

“…blinding my eyes”

The bass here could blind your ears on a proper sound system. No idea who Nero is, and the original of this track is already an amazing tune, but putting a blistering dubstep synth and drum pattern underneath it is pure genius. It’s a stomper, best part is the drop.

“the modern kids”

I can’t stop listening to this album. I finally settled on this track to write a best parter on because it has great strings AND a big guitar solo.

Really, this album is a masterpiece.

I could take them or leave ‘em before this.

Look at the album cover and then listen to the album. They’re the same.

I think back to the Danforth Music Hall show earlier this summer and realize it was a privilege to have heard these songs then. I didn’t think they’d be this good. They played Modern Man for their encore; that’s confidence.

This record puts them up there with Radiohead. It dwarfs what came before it, I haven’t listened to MIA, LCD or Lotus in ages… even Madlib!

The National is back with another amazing album, this track ‘bloodbuzz’ is reminiscent of some of their older classics. The song features many great moments but peaks at the 2:30 line when it kicks into “I was carried to Ohio in a swarm of bees.” Great lyrics and memorable instrumentals give this baritone lead singer another cult hit.
