THAKOON PANICHGUL GETS A NEW JOB

The womenswear designer is named the creative director of Japanese jewelry line Tasaki.

New York - Thakoon Panichgul was on the tip of every one's tongue during the 2008 presidential campaign. All thanks to First Lady Michelle Obama choosing to wear his pieces. Now the Thai fashion designer, who is known for his feminine yet flirty womenswear creations, is moving on to jewelry but it won't be under his Thakoon brand. Panichgul has been named the creative director of a high-end Japanese jewelry line called Tasaki. The company was founded in 1954 and since then it has become one of the few jeweler that "cultivates, manufactures, and sells pearls." Tasaki also is the only jewelry company in Japan that has the rights to purchase rough diamonds from the De Beers Group. Yes, you can't get any more high-end than that, Blaynistas. Toshikazu Tajima, the brand's board director and CEO, was very excited to work with Panichgul. Tajima said, "I'm looking forward to offering our customers Thakoon's talented interpretation of fashion. The superior creativity of Panichgul caught my attention since the start of the Thakoon brand. Thakoon's unique creativity and eye for beauty will be united with the quality of excellence that is Tasaki. With Thakoon as the creative director, we will reach a new level." Panichgul also shared the same excitement. He responded, "I am very honored to be appointed creative director of Tasaki. It is exciting to be working with fine jewelry as it will unquestionably feed into my overall creative process. I look forward to creating a collection for Tasaki that is unique and powerful. My goal is to approach jewelry design in the same manner that I approach clothing: always move forward but respect the past." There is a great chance I will not be able to afford a Thakoon-designed Tasaki jewelry, but I'm excited to see what the talented designer comes up with for the company. Congratulations, Thakoon! PARISIAN SEAMSTRESS VS. HOUSE OF CHANEL

Smalltown Seamstress's $3.7 Million Lawsuit Against Chanel Goes to Court. I wonder what "Uncle Karl" has to say about this? Probably something like...

"She is stupid.. and she is always smiling so stupidly. She's not going to win vs Chanel." I can picture him saying that to his best girlfriend Claudia Schiffer.

(Paris)- Carmen Colle, a 61-year-old seamstress in a small town in Eastern France, is suing Chanel for $3.7 million over a crochet pattern they allegedly copied from her. She runs World Tricot, an ethical clothing company that handmakes haute couture for some of the industry's top designers.Colle has made pieces for Chanel before, but alleges they never bought the disputed design. She first saw a Chanel cardigan with the pattern in question in a shop in Tokyo in 2004. After four and a half years, her case is finally in court. Armed and ready for a fight, Chanel says they came up with the design all their own.

She adds:

"It is not just World Tricot at stake. It is the recognition of small businesses and their creations," she said. "[Big names] treat us as things they can take up and then throw away. It's a shame for them. The greatness of a country, and the greatness of a brand, is the respect it shows for its petites mains."

Say it ain't so, Australian model has "no plans" to return to modeling.

World Wide Web – Australian beauty and ferocious runway walker, Gemma Ward is calling it quits to the modeling industry after an illustrious six year stint. Fellow fashion blogger, BryanBoy posted a few pics of her last week walking around NYC and commented on how "healthier" she looked. Blaynistas, how sad are we to see Gemma go? London's H&M comes up with a system to organize the chaos which will be their Jimmy Choo for HM debut. (Methinks it still won't work!)

London - Frankly, I remain unmoved by Jimmy Choo or Jimmy Choo for H&M. The shoes and entire aesthetic of the line gives me 80s party girl chic, not the futuristic glamazon sex goddess I love (hence my obsession with sky high platform wedge boots). But clearly, I am in a class of my own because the masses are going mental for the upcoming Jimmy Choo for H&M collection. The line debuts in London on the 13th and already stores have devised a wristband system: the first 160 folks who s how up at door will be given a wristban and taken to a VIP area where they will be able to buy whatever they want. They will be taken upstairs in groups of 20 at a time and allowed to buy only one item each. As militant as it sounds, it will avoid whats been happening in collaborations past: shoppers storming off with racks of goods at a time (then turning around and selling it on ebay.) Gotta love it! Los Angeles - I AM GAGGING BACK! A quick review of my favorite free paper in London, Metro, showed Drew Barrymore at the Hollywood premier of her latest film wearing none other than Victoria Beckham. So too is Brit star Katherine Jenkins at an event sponsored by GQ magazine and Dunhill. Both are wearing the Giral dress which retails for nearly $4,000 U.S dollars. New York - I'm get it: you are a 40 (+) year old , with a 20 (-) year old's body. But judging from the article which accompanied this photo shoot - and the gossip in general - Ms. Seymore also has the maturity of a 13 year old. In case you didn't know the Seymore, who launched to popularity in the 90s and had major contracts including Victoria's Secret - is in the midst of a very nasty divorce. In the Vanity Fair article which accompanies this photo shoot, there are allegations against Seymore of drug abuse, child neglect, and ridiculous sums of spending , but no quote at all from her. Granted, there's been a treaty - allegedly - signed by Seymore and Brant to quit talking to the press. But if you are going to represent yourself in anyway during this sensitive time - is a nude photo shoot really the way to do it? Seymore, we know you are hot beyond a shadow of a doubt, so we're nonplussed by this shoot. What we needed to know is that you are a)not crazy, b) not a druggie and c)not a bad mom. Taylor Jacobson finally gets the boot (?) - a thigh high Christian Louboutin one ofcourse!

Los Angeles - So Blaynistas, don't judge me! But I've only ever seen one episode of the Rachel Zoe Project, the reality show starring mega-stylist Rachel Zoe and her mega-assistants Taylor and Brad ( a total hottie). As someone who has assisted stylists on set, in general, and at a magazine as a fashion assistant I was totally blown away by how...umm...spicy...Taylor was with Zoe. Her snarkiness and irritability might have been funny to some, but I found it unprofessional and wondered how she was still with Zoe. Well, wonder no more - she's gone! As reported by People Magazine and Fashionista yesterday, Jacobson is no longer with Rachel Zoe, Inc.

“Today is an end of an era and a beginning of a new professional chapter. Looking forward to what the future brings…!!!”

The above was written on Jacobson's Twitter account. She also sent an email to her contacts confirming that
"After four amazing years at Rachel Zoe Corporation, I’m saddened and exhilarated at the same time to announce my departure. After much thought and consideration, I have decided to take the challenging leap to go off and style on my own.”

ANNA WINTOUR GETS A NEW SIDE GIG

The Vogue editor in chief joins the President's Committee on the Arts and Humanities with 24 other members, including Sarah Jessica Parker and Forest Whitaker.

("Well why yes, Mr. President, I will take that job. Tell Michelle I said, 'Hello.'" Yes, that is how I

imagined the conversation was between Barack and Anna.)

Washington, D.C. - As if the White House isn't already chic enough (thanks to the First Lady and you too Mr. President), President Barack Obama appointed Anna Wintour to be part of the Committee on the Arts and Humanities. The Vogue editor in chief joins 24 other members on board, including actors Sarah Jessica Parker, Forest Whitaker, Edward Norton, musician Yo-Yo Ma, and Teresa Heinz Kerry, wife of Senator John Kerry. The committee was organized to "advise President Obama on how to expand the role of the arts in society." Adding Anna to the list, of course, comes to no surprise since she has shown her support for the Obama family during the 2008 presidential campaign. New York - Blaynistas, I'm spending my a.m on the sitting on the stairs and sipping on tea at the Prada "epicenter" store in Soho. In this room is a whole host of editors and writers I truly respect. The reason for the meeting: Pradas latest book. The tomb features over 10,000 images of shows, art work and architecture - all underneath the umbrella of Prada. The book also focuses on Fondazione Prada and the work of Miuccia Prada and her boo, Patrizio Bertelli. It is available this month in Prada stores worldwide, selected bookstores and prada.com. No word yet on the price, but I'm sure it costs a proper coin!

TEST YOUR MEMORY THE HERMÉS WAY

The French fashion house creates a memory playing card set, proving that you are never too old to play the memory card game.

France - Now this is something I never expected would ever be done, but I admit Hermès creating a memory playing card set is a cute idea. The set features drawings from the Emile Hermès Collection and the whole package is $215. Okay now that isn't cute but if you are wanting to play card games with the cards designed by Hermès then more power to you. The fashion house also has created Poker and Bridge cards that are only $80. It also did its own fashionable take of the game dominoes, which actually is two hundred dollars more than the memory card set. I know, Blaynistas, but look at the small brown leather case to carry in the mini wood dominoes. It's gorgeous! [Story/Image: FWD]

NIKE GOES POP: WARHOL STYLE

The footwear company shows off the new Nike Air Max 90s kicks that feature the many faces of Marilyn Monroe, courtesy of Andy Warhol's famous artwork.

World Wide Web - In the 1960s, Pop Art artist Andy Warhol created "mass-produced" images from the photographs of celebrities. His take on a Marilyn Monroe publicity shot by Gene Korman for the 1953 film Niagara became one of his famous work. He cropped the photograph to fit the size of his canvas and silkscreened it to several paintings. The Marilyn canvases were the result of Warhol experimenting with a new art method and he recalled the experience: "In August 62 I started doing silkscreens. I wanted something stronger that gave more of an assembly line effect. With silkscreening you pick a photograph, blow it up, transfer it in glue onto silk, and then roll ink across it so the ink goes through the silk but not through the glue. That way you get the same image, slightly different each time. It was all so simple quick and chancy. I was thrilled with it. When Marilyn Monroe happened to die that month, I got the idea to make screens of her beautiful face the first Marilyns." The Marilyn canvases have been used many times in the fashion industry like designers putting the images on accessories or tees, but I don't think we have seen Warhol's famous work on shoes yet, right? If we haven't check out these new Nike Air Max 90s sneakers that feature the many colorful images of the iconic sex symbol. It is the company's take on Warhol's famous prints, and I'm sure it will have many sneaker collectors drooling over these kicks. Here are two more images to tempt you:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ANNA!

The Vogue editor-in-chief (and a true "Stylemaker") turns 60 today.

New York - Who doesn't love Anna Wintour? Even Jay-Z name drops her on "Empire State of Mind"...sort of: Now you're in style and in the winter gets cold/ En vogue with your skin out, the city of sin is a pity on a whim. No? Okay moving on. In 1986 Anna became the editor of British Vogue and after two years with the magazine she was appointed the editor-in-chief of US Vogue. This year Anna was the star of The September Issue, a documentary that chronicles her preparation for Vogue's 2007 September Fashion Issue. You have to appreciate the fashion icon's dedication and hard work she puts for the magazine. And if you feel like writing to her to show your appreciation, today is the day to do it because Ms. Wintour turns 60. To celebrate here are images of Anna on David Letterman's Late Show to promote The September Issue and at the Tommy Hilfiger's Spring 2010 show during New York Fashion Week. LADY GAGA BECOMES A M.A.C. GIRL

The pop singer has been named as one of the new faces for MAC AIDS Fund and plans to launch a fashion line.

World Wide Web - Lots of Lady Gaga news to tell you today, Blaynistas. First let me explain that photo above. That is not Gaga's Halloween costume but this ensemble actually is more creative than what she wore for Halloween over the weekend. (Check out the pop singer's costume here, who was snapped with a fan in New York City.) This little number was what she wore to the Accessories Council's annual ACE Awards on Monday night (Nov. 2). The singer was honored with the Stylemaker Award presented to her by Marc Jacobs. I love the purple lips behind the black lace. It's a nice touch. Speaking of lipsticks Gaga joins fellow singer Cyndi Lauper as the new faces for M.A.C AIDS Fund. Both singers have M.A.C. lipsticks dedicated to them: Viva Glam Gaga Lipstick for Gaga and a Viva Glam Cyndi Lipstick for Lauper. Each lipstick is $14 and all proceeds will go to the M.A.C. AIDS Fund. Finally did you know that Lady Gaga plans to launch a fashion line? If not are you wishing that I hadn't told you this? And it gets worse too. The fashion line will be aimed at teens and Gaga is talking to her "boy Akon" about it. Yes, that Akon. She tells The Mirror, "I can't wait to do my own line. It's definitely something I want to do in the next year as I do have my own style. I'm already talking to my boy Akon about it." This sounds like a promising endeavour. BRITAIN SHOWS SUPPORT FOR EMERGING DESIGNERS

£200,000 will be awarded to one lucky British-based designer by the BFC Vogue Designer Fashion Fund, which was launched on Tuesday.

Britain - This year was the 25th anniversary of London Fashion Week and many fashion designers who participated in London's Spring/Summer 2010 Fashion Week shared their thoughts on what makes the capital's fashion so unique. Mark Fast said, "The city is amazing. There is a certain edge, an air of the unexpected: there is always something to be discovered! The way the streets and buildings are situated creates fantastic urban landscapes." And Eun Jeong said, "London fashion has a signature style: more practical than New York, much younger than Paris and designs with a bit of a fun side." Now British Fashion Council and British Vogue are teaming up in a new project to show their support for their country's talented fashion designers. Yesterday (Nov. 3) the BFC Vogue Designer Fashion Fund was launched and it will provide one emerging British-based designer £200,000 and mentorship to help him or her build an international business. The project is similar to what the US has with its fashion designers, which is called Vogue/CFDA (Council of Fashion designers of America).
