Ok, this is our big day!!! Our new business name, Something Beautyfull, along with our new website is now live and ready for you all to go check out! It was super hard to push the “publish” button on this post being afraid that not everything is perfect…even though I’ve looked through the website about a hundred times just this morning! Beautiful Mama

Oh how I just adore this sweet mama and her family! We’ve been friends since college, and her friendship has been such a blessing throughout the years! I knew her hubby when he was just training to be a firefighter/paramedic and now he works for the Port of Portland Fire District. So….if your plane ever crashes on the runway, he’ll be there! haha Anyways, her two sweet kiddos were just joined by their beautiful baby sister whom I get to meet and photograph on Sunday! I can’t wait!

Happy Weekend, Friends! Just thought we should go into the weekend with a session that shows true beauty between a husband and wife! These two came to Walla Walla to have their portraits taken to celebrate their 10 year anniversary. Don’t they look way too young to be married for 10 years already? Anyways, I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know these two. They truly were beautiful souls. I hope to someday meet their little guy that they just adopted!

What a treat it is when God brings friends into your life that end up not just being friends…but…well…someone who knows your coffee drink and brings it without being asked. Someone who has seen your house with so many dishes in the sink she actually had to do them. Someone who has seen you waayyyy more times without makeup than with. Someone whom you pick berries with and then go and can them for hours on end. Your kids play together, your husbands golf together, and you and her…well…you do life together! Melissa is just one of those friends! Here is just a peak at our little last minute mini session we did in our house before it was finished. It may look like everything was so serene and calm and filled with lots of family and love…well, that was the goal and I hope we achieved it! In reality, there were construction trades EVERYWHERE! The painters were trying to work around us while the guy cutting tile 10 feet away from us was telling us to keep our kids away! Hahaha…what fun we have! Oh, and stay tuned for Melissa’s next family session on the blog! We haven’t shot it yet, but it’s all in the works and will be fabulous! What a blessing it was to have my little niece come and visit us all of the way from North Carolina! My boys had a blast playing with her for the day that she got to come! She was also gracious enough to let me grab a few photos of her while she was here! Praise the Lord for sweet sweet family that blesses us with their visits! Thank you, Andrew, for coming all of this way to see us! Praying for Walla Walla to be your city of choice when you move next year! hehe

Precious Baby Logan

What a privilege it was to be able to capture this precious little boy in his first days here on earth! It was even more special since I have known his sweet mommy since high school and we were able to catch up! Oh, the high school days! Wow! I’m sure we all remember at least something about high school. For me, it wasn’t too bad. Of course there’s always the drama that comes with the teenage years, and everything that goes along with that, but I would have to say that, compared to some, my high school days were probably on the easy side. I look now at those teenage years and see so many kids that all want to fit in and and be like the beautiful, popular girl or the stud football player. Oh how I wish they knew that they were made for more than that! That they were created with a unique personality that is like none other. That they have beautyfull gifts and talents that were put in them before they were even born! I know I’ve talked before about what I’ve been teaching to my kiddos in Sunday School, but truly, my desire is to instill within them at this young age that they were created so very special. That they were formed by the hands of God and their days were counted and numbered and all figured out even before they were conceived! I know, crazy to think about, but doesn’t that make you feel special? Knowing that you were created by His hands and in His image? That is something that I need to remember way more often. And that is my prayer for this little guy…that he will grow up knowing how special he is to his Creator!

I adore your whole family, Amanda, and THANK YOU for giving me the opportunity to hang out with your precious little man!

More special than the stars that fill the sky…Bend, Or family portraits

Our recent trip back to Bend was so much fun and produced a slew of awesome portraits! I was able to fit in an event, a wedding, family pictures and about 4 trips to Bellatazza! hehe For those of you not from Bend, that is definitely a must if you enjoy coffee!

What a fun time I had hanging out with this family. When Stacie mentioned to me that they had a VW truck that they wanted to use in the pictures, of course I was all over that! And it was cream to boot…perfect! We basically just played in the forest for a few hours…making tents and beds in the back of the truck, kissing frogs and climbing on logs. Getting to know these two girls was so amazing because I’m not sure I’ve ever seen sisters be so different from one another. One was a princess…one a tomboy. One didn’t even want her picture taken in the forest because there was too much dirt…and the other would’ve done the whole session with her shoes off and toes in the dirt! One wore a more serious face most of the session…the other was way too easy to make smile. So different, yet so wonderfully matched to make up this beautyfull family.

I teach Children’s Church at our church every week. It’s not a big church by any means. If fact, when we moved back here a year and a half ago, my kids were the only kids there. But it is a church full of sinners who know they need God and need him badly. Anyways, that’s kind of off topic, but what I’m getting to is that in Children’s Church, our unit we’re studying right now is all about how God made us and made us each so different with different talents, likes, dislikes, personalities, looks, and so on. You know what they say about when you teach something, you learn it better than the ones you are teaching? Well, let me tell you, that is so true! I’ve always known that God made me, but teaching these 5, 6, 7 and 8 year old this fundamental truth has taught me to look outside of what I think other people should be like and to focus on how God created them to be…each different and special! To quote part of the song that the kids and I are learning together…

God has made us, each different as the day is from the night.

God has made us, and fills us with a love that shines so bright.

God has made us, more special than the stars that fill the sky.

We lift Your name on high!

GOD MADE US!

The beauty of new life

You know when you meet somebody for the first time and just know that they are going to become a good friend? Well, that’s what happened with Meg! Last fall I hired her to take our family pictures. We showed up in the gorgeous pear orchard in Richland, and from then on…well, the rest is history! I can’t wait to have a lifetime friendship with her and her family and be able to watch her 3 beautiful girls grow up into amazing women! I was truly humbled and honored to be given the opportunity to do some newborn and family photos for her! And make sure to stop by her site – Photography by Meg…that is, if you have a few extra hours on your hands to sit there and drool over her photography because I can guarantee that you won’t be able to take your eyes off of her pictures!

Your Photos as Art . by walla walla family photographer

One of my favorite parts about being a photographer is having clients that look at their family pictures as artwork for their home! I’m not talking about an 8×10 here, a 5×7 there, and maybe an 11×14 above the fireplace. I’m talking about huge prints displayed on your walls. Those types of prints that when someone walks into your house, “WOW” is the first thing that comes out of their mouth! Those prints that melt your heart every time you walk past them in the hallway because they are images of your precious family. Those are my favorite! I absolutely can’t wait to have our house built because the first form of decoration that is going in it is a huge wall display of our family pictures! I’m talking…20×30′s and 30×40′s! I can “picture” it now!! Until then…I’ll be happy with getting to create gorgeous wall art for my clients! Here’s a recent one…
