When I stumbled across the online store Nasty Gal a few years ago I thought I had died and went to fashion heaven. The clothes are vibrant, edgy yet feminine. Every time I wear a Nasty Gal piece I get a compliment which proves how amazing the store is. The dress on the far right (found here) sells out almost as soon as it arrives. Below are a few of my current favorites for summer.

How-To: Neon French Manicure

Today I thought I would show you how to do a neon french manicure by yourself! If you are anything like me painting your nails is a bit of a challenge. Especially when it comes to my left hand it ends up looking like a five year old painted them (oh how I wish I was ambidextrous at these moments!). Here are the easy steps to follow to get the end product - which I absolutely love!

Supplies Needed:

I picked up this amazing (and cheap!!) neon pink Sinful Colors nail polish at my local Walgreens. At only $1.99 a bottle it was an absolute steal! I also grabbed some reinforcement labels and my OPI top coat.

Step 1:

Place a reinforcement circle on each nail to create the outline of where you will paint the color.

Step 2:

Paint around the tops of the reinforcement labels and let dry. As you can see it's nice to not have to color inside the lines!

Step 3:

Add the top coat and let dry again. Afterwards you will have the beautiful finished product! I have to admit - I love the boldness this nail gives off.

Also, I apologize for the lack of posts this week - I moved into a new loft last weekend and getting settled is taking a little longer than I thought it would! Here is a sneak peek inside my new space - more to come as I get crafty with some decorating projects. If you can't tell orchids are my favorite flower (not noticeable or anything...)

These are a few of the photos I remembered to snap during our Roaring 20's party last night. It was hosted in an old mansion so the ambiance was perfection - we even played a version of clue around the house - which just happened to be my favorite childhood game. This party made me want to host a masquerade party for my next birthday! Any excuse to get dressed up right?

My boyfriend even made top 3 dressed for the men! (You're welcome Nick!)

Last night I decided I would be completely ok with the 20's style coming back. Happy Friday friends!

These are a few of my favorites out right now. I love the hot pink - would make you stand out in a second! If you feel like being daring the leopard Tibi blazer will do just the trick. The one I will have to get though is the Dorothy Perkins light pink blazer. It is just so versatile and looks just like my photo inspiration!

This week my agency is hosting a Roaring 20's party at a nearby mansion. I am so excited because the time period is so glamorous. What with the Great Gatsby being filmed and Downtown Abbey having been on for three seasons it was about time the flapper period made a comeback! I can't wait to get in fashion on Thursday. I love taking past fashions and putting on a modern twist (as these dresses above did!). Below are a few of my current favorites for anyone needing some flapper in their life!

Mother's Day is this weekend and I have never been so thankful for my mom as I am now. It has officially been one year since I graduated college and truly being 'on my own' has taught me so much about life (and I told my mom I had it figured out in high school!). I have learned how hard it can be to balance work, friends, family and personal time. I am so thankful to have been given the mom that I have.

I can thank my mom for:

1) My independent woman, 'hear me roar' streak

2) Love of all things timeless

3) An appreciation for the small things

4) The ability to make friends with someone in an elevator - I'm pretty sure my mom does not know a stranger!

Nina Dobrev looks to die for in this stunning Donna Karen number.

Camilla Belle looks drop dead gorgeous in this sparkling Ralph Lauren number. Stunning.

SUCH high fashion. Karolina Kurkova is a knock out in this Rachel Zoe dress. I am in love with the sparkle and especially love the long sleeves. I can't get enough of the glamour!

January Jones makes this Versace peplum dress look amazing. I think I actually prefer it over Solange Knowles Rachel Roy version!

The annual Met Gala was last night and my Twitter feed was so full of updates I'm pretty sure I didn't read about anything else (nor would I want to!). Of all the stunning images coming across these four ladies stole the show for me. If you can't tell I love sheer and shimmer when it comes to dresses. The peplum on January is so gorgeous - it makes me want to go out and grab anything and everything peplum!

I hope I can attend an event one day that this attire will be needed for! Who caught your eye?

F21 Blouse, F21 Skirt (similar), BCBG Eddah shoes, Kate Spade Ring

This weekend I wore one of my favorite skirts right now - this Forever 21 pleated color block skirt! It is so feminine and easy to wear. The BCBG shoes give it a little edge and I think the cutouts bring out the texture in the skirt as well.

Thanks to my boyfriend (who I asked to snap some photos) I ended up laughing most of the time! I had to include some photos he caught of me in the moment because by the end my stomach hurt from laughing so much. I hope everyone's weekend and Cinco celebrations were great!

With Cinco de Mayo this weekend I started to think about what spring dress I would be wearing. I absolutely love margaritas and guacamole (anyone that knows me can attest to that!) so I know I will be on a patio celebrating the day. I picked out a few of my current favorite dresses - I want this BCBG Maxi Dress so much! I love the color blocking and it would be perfect for the transition into summer.

I am a huge fan of Pinterest and if you are on it then you know how many pins are of nails trends. I've been bored with my nails lately am deciding what I want to try next! The Ciate nail trend looks awesome (if not a little crazy!) but hey I've tried magnetic nail polish so why not go for it?

For my nail fans - I have a new found love for Julep! The local Sephora is finally carrying the brand and I couldn't be more excited! I love their blog and Pinterest boards. Has anyone tried the matte black french manicure?

On another note, last night I began reading the Fifty Shades of Grey. I was up way later than I usually am because I couldn't put it down! I even kept reading as I blow dried my hair this morning (whoops!). Has anyone else started the series? I can't wait to start reading it again tonight.

Happy Monday everyone - I hope the weekend was a blast! The LuckyFabb blogger conference is taking place today in L.A and i wish i was there. I am hoping to be lucky enough to attend next year. The amazing speakers thus far today have included Jessica Alba and Zach Posen. Jessica gave great insights into her business, The Honest Company, and how she manages her daily life. I can't wait to be there next year and meet all of the other amazing bloggers I love!

As you can see it is a gloomy day here so I decided to punch it up with my outfit today (how can you not brighten up a day with neon?!). I threw on this Pure Sugar cape and decided to layer two of my favorite necklaces from Forever 21 and Kenneth Cole. I popped on my favorite Jewelmint ring since I hadn't worn it in a while - sometimes you can forget what you have!

I love big necklaces - I can't get enough of them! They can absolutely make any ensemble fabulous in a second. I have not been able to get my hands on a Spike the Punch necklace yet, every time they are posted they sell out within a few minutes (literally!). So if you have any hot tips on snagging one let me know :)

I honestly can't pick a favorite out of all of these since I would love to have them all in my closet. I posted about the monogram Bauble Bar necklace earlier but this neon version may just be my new favorite! What one stands out to you?

Happy Earth Day everyone! I hope everyone knows the amazing promotion Sephora is hosting today. Above are a few snapshots from this past week/weekend. I made delicious carrot fries for the first time and oh were they delicious - I highly recommend them! I also went to a new cheese shop that has opened and can't wait to take their cheese and wine class to know pairings a bit better!

Also, yes, that is a baby bear you are seeing. I was able to play and feed an eight week old cub and I have to say it was one of the most precious things I have ever done! And if you are wondering - no he didn't have teeth yet :)

I was lucky enough to catch a gorgeous rainbow yesterday afternoon - it truly is the small things in life that make you smile the most. Enjoy the rest of Sunday!

Happy Friday everyone - it's finally the weekend and my first outfit post! I am so excited to finally start showing the outfits I pick every day and share them with you! It is such a beautiful day today I just had to take a few pictures by water. You might not be able to tell by the photos but it is so windy today I thought I was going to fly away!

I spotted this maxi dress at Forever 21 last weekend and just had to get it - it was a steal I just couldn't pass up! It is so comfy and perfect for days that aren't quite warm enough for skirts. My Danielle Nicole bag matched my outfit almost too perfectly but it is so comfy and holds all of my necessities (which my boyfriend would say I have about twenty extra of). I hope everyone has exciting plans - I know mine includes a few margaritas on a patio somewhere!

Shoes are without a doubt my favorite part of any outfit. They can always make a statement and can add such personality to your wardrobe. I've loved all of the bright colors in stores recently so I had to pick out some of my favorites!

I can't wait to get my hands on these Zara heels (2)! I've seen a few photos of them and they are gorgeous and only $50 - can you believe it? The look much more expensive. I love small details (if you couldn't tell!) on shoes. It is what makes each heel different than another. The neon bottoms of the Aldo (4) flats could probably even by a DIY project! Has anyone seen a great tutorial?

This week's Weekly Obsessions was inspired by the news of HomeMint, Justin Timberlake's new interior line! Anything involving Justin is usually done very well but I still think he needs to drop everything else and put out another album for my own happiness (but seriously Justin - if you're reading this..please?!) ! You can check out his interview with Elle Decor and learn more about the line.

Above are a few of the pieces I am lusting over. I have been dying to get the Chanel print from I See Noise for a while now - today may just be the day I snag one! Another favorite is the 'you're beautiful' mirror decal - who doesn't need a daily affirmation when you look in the mirror first thing in the morning? Also I found these little bear candles and find them adorable! This is most likely because I played with a baby bear a few weeks ago (yes - you read that correctly!) and just find them adorable now.

Is anyone else as excited about HomeMint?!

Coachella Standouts

This past weekend was the first weekend of Coachella - one of the best weekends for live music. Unfortunately I couldn't make it and all of the tweets from friends who were there made me uber jealous! The amazing performances included Gotye (obsessed!), Mazzy Star and Grace Potter - and that is just three of my favorites!

Let's be honest though - the real stars of the weekend are the fashionable girls who get to attend! Above are a few photos from Refinery 29 of six Coachella perfect outfits. I am practically in love with everything Kate Bosworth does so I had to include her. The spiked boots of Denise's outfit (5) are what ultimately drew me in - I love anything with spikes to give your outfit an edge! The variety of clothes at a place like Coachella is fabulous - there are few places where truly anything goes.

Bubble Ball

The Bubble Ball was so fun this past weekend. It was a night filled with wine, live Brazilian music and dancing. Local designers did not disappoint and made some of the interesting designs out of bubble wrap. I cannot believe the amount of talent that was included in the show.

It was fun to play Cinderella for a night! The hair and makeup looked phenomenal and I really felt like a princess should (or every girl should every day of the week!).

Following the last Wild Thing down the runway. The atmosphere was so fun as all of the decorations were balls and bubbles as well.

Her dress was absolutely amazing. The back had long peacock feathers as a tail and it was phenomenal. You can see a few of the other designs in the background.

I snapped a quick photo of the headpieces the Wild Things from Where the Wild Things are. I had to follow them on the runway....let's just say I had much to live up to. I can't wait until next year to see what amazing designs the Bubble Ball brings!

A Touch of Bubble Wrap

Tonight is the annual Bubble Ball in Des Moines. The goal is to heighten people's awareness of ChildServe and raise money for needed programs to help children with special health care needs and their families. I am very excited to be modeling a dress again this year! This year's theme is Characters from Childhood and I will be Cinderella! A Cinderella dress made of bubble wrap? That's right! I will be sharing photos of the dress and other characters tomorrow! To tide you over until then here are some photos from last year's event. Hopefully I make a great Cinderella!

Little Pieces of Me

Lately I have been noticing just how fast time flies (and yes - it goes so much faster once you are done with college). So I stopped the other day and took a look around my loft and realized the things that I love seeing each and every day and thought I would share them with you! It truly is the little things in life that make you smile.

I arranged my jewelry on top of a small book shelf I have in my room. When it comes to my clothes and accessories, if it isn't in visible sight I can forget I own it! I put out my favorite bracelets and rings here to remind me to throw a few extra on every day (hey too many accessories never hurt anyone!). My mom got me this adorable Hello Kitty hand mirror from Sephora for Christmas and I have to admit it is one of my favorite parts of getting ready in the morning - makes me feel so girly!

Waking up to this poster every day is a great start to my morning. It's called the Holstee Manifesto and the words have great meaning to me. As silly as this may sound, I make myself stop and read it once before I leave every morning. It makes me feel rejuvenated and ready to take on the world...and who doesn't need that?!

For the longest time I couldn't figure out a good way to store my makeup brushes until one day I came up with this. It is so much healthier for your brushes to stand them up when you aren't using them. It is so easy to make! Just get a cute vase and filler (beads, rocks, espresso beans) and then stand your brushes up!

I honestly can say I don't know WHAT i would do without this train case from Sephora. As a beauty addict I admittedly have too many products which doesn't mix with my type A, crazy organization type personality! This case makes it so easy to get ready in the morning and I know right where everything is.

I hope the little things that help me get through each day might give you a few ideas! Let me know what some of your daily loves are too - I would love to get some new ones!
