Ahh, the beauty of obtaining peace…..
The ability to awake in the morning to a freshly prepared home cooked meal. The bonding time with the family before everyone go to their assigned places for the day. The peace of mind knowing you do not HAVE to rush around anymore. The option of driving your children to school priceless.
During the hum of the day I will do what I love. I will be able to work as an information security consultant as well as decorating (inside/outside – residential – inside commercial)
The ability to create your own schedule and do what you love and have a balanced work/home life… priceless
No more revolving bills. My homes would not be paid off because I would prefer the tax write off. However, I would have the money available to pay them off if needed.
My home:
My home would be like a walk in paradise….
I love the island free flowing feeling. My palm trees, leather furniture filled “smart home”
My mind is beginning to envision the dream that I had buried years ago.
The plantation blinds are on the windows in my office, living and dining room. The other window treatments were constructed by myself. I had a blast picking out the materials to make my house a home.
The movie theatre is in the basement with a built in wall aquarium (calming affect of watching fish). The game area with our WII connected to the 73″ plasma (how cool is that!)
A peaceful, serene feeling will capture a person’s soul upon entry into my humble abode.
The house would be only a mere 7000 square feet.
The grounds will look like you have embarked upon your own island of paradise.
I would own 4 automobiles – 4×4 for the winter, a convertible for the summer, a pick up truck and a SUV
Now, I do love to shop and share.
I would adopt a family who is a resident at the local homeless shelter and assist them in getting back on their feet. The assistance would include a permanent resident, educational assistance if necessary, a simple car and friendship. This process would probably take a couple of years. But the joy that would overcome me would last a lifetime. We all need a helping hand from time to time. It would be nice if those who can help would, with no strings attached.
I would also create a “Hang Out”, that would be the name of the place for teens and preteens to go to hang out. This would give them another option besides the streets. The hang out would provide food, activities, tutoring, and would provide transportation from the local school systems. The hang out would offer cooking classes for the children to prepare nutrional meals for the family to eat that evening.

My list does not show billions of dollars…
But to me, once all of these items were accomplished I would feel like the riches person on earth!
:-)

A Forty million net worth wasn’t just a made up number for me. I thought about it quite a bit. It wasn’t even a limit on what I wanted to make because it’s simply not worth having one. I have even heard that billionaire businessman Ted Turner said that your dreams should be so big that it takes two lifetimes to achieve them. I understand his point but I just haven’t gotten to that level of thinking yet. I currently feel that after obtaining forty million dollars, I would have acquired everything materially that I desire for personal use and then some and would have earned the right to turn down virtually any business meeting that would yield me additional financial gain. I won’t have to put off the important family events because we’ll have more than enough materially to not have to need or want for anything. My forty million was methodical. The break down goes as follows:

Build the Chateau D’Von (Dream Home) – $5 million roughly 14,000 square on three levels with port cochere). This is a French Castle entitled Revelais by world class architect John Henry, AIA out of Orlando, Florida. He is the best I’ve ever seen. I have titled mine Chateau D’Von and looked to have it built on a river with several acres of land. Henry’s award winning designs are just as breathtaking in the back as they are the front and the intricate details inside are to die for.

Nice Home for Mom and Mom-in-law – $500,000. Where I’m from (Cassatt, SC), people live the simple life. 15,000 square feet homes are impressive but really not at all desired, especially when you’re at active adult age. This is more than enough to build both moms if need be a nice home and a new car with enough money to dish out to the undeserving, yet needy, relatives.

Retirement Account – $3 million. This account will be geared for aggressive investing because the income replacement ratios will be low. The faster I can obtain these assets, the more aggressive I will have the assets allocated. Since I plan on living a long time and no dreams of retirement over the next 30 years easily, there is little thought of conservative approach. I’ve heard a money manager say that bonds are for wimps and old people and while I understand his logic, I won’t necessarily go that far.

R-44 Helicopter. $450,000k Since attending SLED (South Carolina Law Enforcement Division) Academy as a rising high school senior and riding for about two minutes in a chopper, I’ve forever looked at helicopters admiring them from a far. Now I desire to gain a pilot’s license and buy one for myself so I can have it at the Chateau where I can expose young and old to the gift of rotary flight.

Charitable Contributions – $200,000 annually. I hear money is good for three things, spending it, investing it and giving it away. What’s the point otherwise? Money is great at solving the problems it can solve and horrible at trying to solve the problems that it can’t. Let’s make somebody’s day at the restaurant, barber shop, fund-raiser and grocery store on a regular basis. God doesn’t need your money but be obedient and give Him His cut anyway.

Maintenance Team – $50,000 annually. From tax attorneys, cpa’s, estate planners, lawn care service providers, insurances, etc. this number is likely going to be higher than I think it is. However, I’m wise enough to realize that it has to happen and it needs to be the best. So while I don’t know what the annual costs will be, let’s just throw in a few tens of thousands.

The Stable – $600,000. Lamborghini Murciélago Roadster, Maserati Quattroporte, Full Size Truck (country boy at heart), one or two other mid-range luxury vehicles (you know, wife stuff, but they aren’t nearly as involved in the car game).

Vacation Home – $1 million. Although, I’m not sure where I want this home, I really like Seabrook Island, South Carolina as it reminds me of my days at The Citadel and it gets me away from the traffic driven Washington D.C. Metro. It’s a real hidden treasure complete with spectacular ocean views and dolphins that play near the shore during early morning breakfast hours.

Furniture – $200,000. I’m elegant, but still relatively simple and not into the multi-million dollar art collection. I can shop at the local furniture store and be just as content as if I were in some high dollar store with the muckety-mucks.

Things I Never Thought Of but Have More Than Enough Cash to Take Care of – $$$. You just never know. As much as I love driving my exotic sports car, I drive it to $10 restaurants with no thought of needing to be around the exotic class of people. Sometimes I floss with the muckety-mucks (hi profiled/upper echelons) and sometimes I don’t but it’s nice to be able to when you want to. Without putting anything on paper you’re just the aimless wanderer so I figured starting here was a well thought out and good enough start.
