Flavia of Fete a Fete is having a little one! She’s already the proud momma of one little boy and now a little brother is on the way. Not wanting to go traditional blue, Flavia chose a sophisticated black, yellow and white color palette for her family celebration.

The day was full of detail, but my very favorite is the activity she set up for her guests — a “laundry-like” area where her friends could customize a shirt or bodysuit with iron-on fabric appliqués! Isn’t it adorable?!

Flavia dressed the table with H&M organic white baby shirts in several sizes, appliqués from Etsy (three resources below), an iron, a small ironing board which she “dressed” with a cute cover found at Barefoot Lake on Etsy, a galvanized bucket, and clothespins she painted yellow with white dots.

She also hosted a lovely brunch! She prepared most of the food herself, even these mini jars of homemade granola (Flavia provides the recipes on her blog).

I love that she used her sonogram image as inspiration and to wrap drink bottles. So sweet.

My mom LOVES red birds. It’s her thing. She even has a beautiful china pattern with red birds. So I know she’s going to adore these small plaques with fingerprint red birds from my boys this Mother’s Day.

You’ll need:

• smooth tile, I picked these up at Home Depot for 16 cents each
• Martha Stewart Acrylic Craft Paint ~ Habanero (#32050)
• Martha Stewart Acrylic Craft Paint ~ Vanilla Bean (#32069)
• Martha Stewart self-adhesive branch stencil
• Sharpie ~ black, thin tip
• Spray sealant coating, to seal and protect your creation

Simple steps:

1. Using the the Martha Stewart self-adhesive stencil template, paint on the branch
2. Allow branch to dry for a minute and remove template while paint is still wet
3. One child at a time, trust me…, paint the thumb and apply the bird body
4. Paint the pinky finger and apply the bird head
5. Using a Sharpie, add beak and feet
6. Have your artists sign their work (name and year)
7. Allow to dry completely and seal with spray sealant coating

I’m so thrilled with how they turned out!

When I was a little girl my grandmother always had Little Debbie Nutty Bars in her kitchen. Always! So when Laura of Laura’s Little Party sent this Father’s Day dessert table over I just knew I wanted to share it with all of you. What a simple and clever idea perfect for Father’s Day and for new dads when their little pumpkins are born!

When Laura was thinking about her table she went to her grandmother, who collected some great antique items that belonged to her father, and grandfather. I love all the masculine touches. And although I highly dislike smoking, I would love to have some of these old cigar boxes!

My second favorite in this collection are the chocolate mustaches perfect for Father’s Day photo props! Laura made them herself with a chocolate mold she picked up at Michael’s.

This was highly personal for Laura and here are a few details in her own words:

“I displayed the Father’s Day spread on an antique dresser. I knew that burlap, twine and Robin’s egg blue would be my color scheme. I custom ordered some fun Daddy & Co. tags from J. At your Service, and attached them to root beer bottles. I designed some tie cupcake toppers, inspired by Amanda’s Parties To Go, and cupcake wrappers by using a cute paper printable from The Hybrid Chick. I served iced tea inside of an old Mason jar. The chocolate mustache lollipops I made were accompanied by an antique straight razor. An old cigar box worked as a display for some yummy Nutty Bars. And an old football, ball & mitt, and boxing gloves, belonging to my Grandfather, helped bring in all the “Father” things I wanted to showcase.

I also displayed an old picture of my Grandfather, as a child, with his pet goat. The lock & chain belonged to my Great-Grandfather, it’s from LA transit, where he used to work. And the antique watch belonged to my Great, Great-Grandfather! I was so excited to celebrate Father’s Day with treats, antiques, and some very special items belonging to my male family members.”

Prepare for take-off! Hi everyone, it’s Bridget today. We love to receive notes about the parties you throw! Last week, Lisa from Sweet Pop Studio shared a fabulous Flight Academy birthday party she hosted for her little man’s special day. Since he’s obsessed with airplanes, she chose a flight school theme to celebrate; complete with training badges, logbooks, and every little aviators dream, lots of sweet treats.

This party “soars” with adorable touches from the cupcake runway to the cloud favor boxes for each academy graduate to carry his loot. She even made a “license” with each child’s picture as part of the thank you note!

With baby showers on the brain and all these Martha Stewart Crafts and Plaid Paints products from JoAnn Fabric and Craft Stores in my craft room, I decided to make a simple craft this weekend: DIY baby shower table numbers for my Special Delivery stork baby shower collection!

The new pearl colors from Martha Stewart Crafts are my favorite. They shimmer! And what girl doesn’t like a little sparkle?! {wink}

You only need a few supplies:

• hydrangeas (the large leaves are perfect; I used fake, but live would be lovely!),
• mini glass jars (I used these for my son’s science party),
• Martha Stewart Crafts fine point paint brush,
• Martha Stewart Crafts Purple Martin Pearl (#32119),
• Martha Stewart Crafts Fancy Script Stencil Set,
• ribbon (available in the $1 section at JoAnn Fabric and Craft Stores)

And here are the steps:

1. Dip the tops of your glasses in the pearl paint, allow the excess to drip off and then dry the jars overnight.
2. Fill the jar 3/4 with rock salt or sugar (it’s cheap and it sparkles just like the paint).
3. Determine your placement.
4. Stencil on each number with a fine point paint brush and finish in the detail if needed.
5. Allow the leaves to dry and display.

I stumbled across this fabulous Teacher Appreciation celebration idea, actually a whole week of celebration ideas, from Maegan at Confessions of a Scrapaholic.

Maegan and other parents put a ton of work into celebrating their teachers in such a fun and creative way, Dr. Seuss style. With DIY ideas and Maegan’s printables, you still have time to pull together some fun for Teacher Appreciation Week, which starts Monday!

The main “slogan” she used was “Hats Off To Our Teachers!” and a few weeks before the event, she asked her photographer friend and fellow parent, John Wolfe, to take Dr. Seuss Photo Booth style pictures of all the teachers and staff. Maegan then used the images for decorations around the school, for student activities and to decorate the daily snacks they planned.

You simply must hop over to Maegan’s blog, Confessions of a Scapaholic, for all the details, but here’s a quick look at the daily menu! 

Monday: Gourmet “Hop On Popcorn” Bar - they served eight different flavors of gourmet popcorn!

Tuesday: Biffer Baum Boxed Lunches - parents made “boxed” lunches for every staff member at the school. Maegan put together a questionnaire about preferences for the teachers and then forwarded them to the parent in charge of that specific teacher. They did a fabulous job!

Wednesday: Pink Yink Ink Drink Breakfast - now this is amazing, Maegan ordered 40 coffees from two local Starbucks and had volunteer parents pick them up. You wonder how they didn’t get all those drinks confused, Maegan made custom labels in her theme! Plus, she pink-a-fied the staff lounge by tying tulle to the tops of all the chairs, and on the cupcake stands. She provides ton of ideas and details on her blog, so please pay her a visit!

Thursday: Whoo-Feast – Maegan shares that, “The most difficult part of this luncheon was coming up with Seuss-y names for the food.” so she has provided an entire list of ideas!

Friday: Whoo-Treat Dessert Bar – Maegan again shares that the names was the toughest part and shares even more names!
