Yellow belt stylist Sabina Sayers says to say no to pesticides/herbicides on your lawn. She states that along with nitrogen fertilizer runoff, these are major water pollutants. Besides harming our water and earth, these chemicals can also harm our animals too!

She says trains traveling between states/countries use about 1/10th of the energy that corresponding flights do. WOW! That’s a lot of saved energy, and a lot of adventure!! Thanks Tiffany.

Here is another eco tip from The Circle Salon’s yellow belt stylist Magen Sabo! Magen suggests planting an herb garden. She says it’s nice to be reminded about where your food originates. Some easy indoor herbs to grow may include: lemon grass, chives, mint, parsley, oregano, thyme, rosemary, and basil.

Not only are herbs good for you, they are also good for the air we breathe. Did you know that plants can help remove toxins floating through the air that can be harmful to our bodies? What a great (and delicious!) way to be green!

This next eco tip comes from black belt stylist Jamie Bushman. Jamie suggests limiting water use when doing dishes by stopping the drains up with water instead of letting it run. If you have two basins, you can use one side for washing and the other for rinsing. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) estimates that it takes an average of 20 gallons of water to wash dishes by hand. Why not take it from Jamie and cut that amount down by turning off the tap? If Jamie Bushman doesn’t convince you, maybe Micheal Jackson and Paul McCartney will…

Recycle, recycle, recycle! Don’t live in the past, the future is now. Recycling is today’s tomorrow. Recycle, recycle, recycle! The Circle Salon’s brown belt stylist Terra Therapos says RECYCLE! It is so easy these days: use the deposit system, curbside recycling or drop-off programs, or recycling bins found in public places. If there is no recycling program in your workplace or apartment building, organize one! Our landfills are overflowing and polluting our land and water. Don’t you want a future for our earth?!
