The new twelve-part weekly series by DC has an awesome collaborative group of artists and writers teaming-up every week. The line-up for the first issue includes; Brian Azzarello and artist Eduardo Risso (100 Bullets), Paul Pope (Batman: Year 100), Neil Gaiman (Sandman) and artist Michael Allred (Madman), Dave Gibbons (Watchmen) and Ryan Sook (Buffy), Jimmy Palmiotti (Jonah Hex) with Art by Amanda Conner (Power Girl), those are just a few in the star-studded gathering. Each team or person will tackle and tell an exciting tale, featuring characters from the vast DC Universe.

WEDNESDAY COMICS is unique in modern comics history: Reinventing the classic weekly newspaper comics section, it is a 16-page weekly that unfolds to a sprawling 28" x 20" tabloid-sized reading experience bursting with mind-blowing color, action and excitement, with each feature on its own 14" x 20" page.

Other comics out this week

Heading back to the late 1940s, discover the hidden history of the B.R.P.D. team in B.R.P.D: 1947, a follow-up to B.R.P.D: 1946. On the mon-fred menu are Nazi's evil creations from WWII days and blood sucking vampires. Hellboy creator Mike Mignola teams up with writer Joshua Dysart and artists Gabriel Bá (The Umbrella Academy) and Fábio Moon (Sugarshock). A five-part mini-series.

Dark Reign continues and it looks there are new kids on the block. Enter the Dark X-men, consisting of Emma Frost, Daken, Dark Beast, Mimic (back from the dead), Weapon X with Cloak and Dagger. Also a special appearance from Namor. Found out how these guys got together and what part they play in Norman Osborn's scheme. A three-part mini-series and a Utopia tie-in.

The first Black Lantern is born in Green Lantern #43, who else but Black Hand to don the first black ring and weld it's power. This issue is the first official prologue to the upcoming Blackest Night event. Let the darkness begin and the colours of the rainbow lanterns shine. Written by Geoff Johns with artist Doug Mahnke.

CAPTAIN AMERICA REBORN

By popular demand, Deadpool get's his second ongoing series in; Deadpool: Merc with a mouth. This series sees Deadpool team up with... well himself. In the first story arc we see Deadpool travel to the Savage Land with Marvel Zombie's Deadpool (body not included) to track down a bio-weapon. Not everything runs smoothly as he has to deal with his zombie self, dinosaurs, cavemen and Hydra agents. This issues guest stars Ka-zar. A new Justice League team has been form in an all new six-part mini-series: Cry for Justice - Green Arrow and Green Lantern head the new group consisting of Shazam, Supergirl, Starman, Atom and Congrollia. The death of fellow superheroes (Batman & Martian Manhunter) will not be tolerated no more! This band of heroes are out to fight the good fight and seek those responisble. Game on. Written by James Robinson (Superman), with art by Mauro Cascioli (Trials of Shazam!)

Trade of the week: Solomon Kane Volume 1: The Castle of the Devil

Robert E. Howard created classic characters such as Conan & Red Sonja. He also was responsible for creating Solomon Kane, a loner wandering the land vanquishing evil in his path.

Dark Horse has adapted one of Howard's Solomon Kane stories into a five-part comic series by Scott Allie and Mario Guevara, with cover drawn by Mike Mignola.

Robert E. Howard's vengeance-obsessed puritan begins his supernatural adventures in the haunted Black Forest of Germany in this adaptation of Howard's "The Castle of the Devil." When Solomon Kane stumbles upon the body of a boy hanged from a rickety gallows, he goes after the man responsible -- a baron feared by the peasants from miles around. Something far worse than the devilish baron or the terrible, intelligent wolf that prowls the woods lies hidden in the ruined monastery beneath the baron's castle, where a devil-worshiping priest died in chains centuries ago.

TRANSFORMERS - SOUNDWAVE BUST

Kicking it back to eighties classic, Transformers was a cult hit with the kids, due to it's animated television series and it's awesome toy-line by Hasbro.

Soundwave, a member of the evil Decepticons and Megatron's right hand man is a popular character and favorite amongst fans with his distinctive, monotone, computerized voice and his cool capability to transform into a eighties style boom box. Soundwave could eject from his chest Decepticon spy cassettes - Rumble, Ravage and Lazerbeak were the main decks use.

Hasrbo and Hard Hero teamed up early 2000 to produce a classic looking statue line, Soundwave was the fourth in the bust series.

PREDATORS ARE HEADING OUR WAY

Dark Reign goes full throttle as Norman Osborn and Emma Frost go head-to-head as the Dark Avengers/Uncanny X-men: Utopia begins this week. As part of Osborn's Cabal, Emma Frost is in charge of keeping the X-men in-line and when Osborn thinks Emma isn't keeping up her part of the deal, Norman's Dark Avengers have the task to engage and disciplent the X-men. The battle begins! Written by Matt Fraction (Invincible Iron Man) and art by Marc Silvestri (Witchblade). This issues continues in the pages of Uncanny X-men and Dark Avengers.

THE TITANIC TITANIUM MAN MINI-BUST

Crimson Dynamo wasn't the only Russian iron-clad mech that tried to go up against Iron Man and fail. In the time of the Cold War, Boris Bullski a member of the old U.U.U.R.'s Communist Party saw a chance to impress the Soviet leaders, he ordered a group of scientists to design a powerful battle suit that was based on the same technology used by Tony Stark. Titanium Man was born. Made from emerald green Titianium, with the capability to fly at supersonic speeds, as well as the ability to project force blast from his gauntlets and high energy beam from his helmet, also with the increased size and strength. All this to try to take down the Invincible Iron Man.

WHO IS... RED ROBIN??

First appearing in Kingdom Come, an Elseworlds story set in an alternate future. It was an adult Dick Grayson who was Red Robin and more recently in Countdown, Jason Todd posed in the Red Robin costume.

With Bruce Wayne gone and a reshuffle in the Batman family, we see Dick and Damian take the mantle of the new Batman and Robin, but who is this current Red Robin? All signs piont to the former Robin, Tim Drake. Find out who Red Robin really is, in the first issue.

Writer Chris Yost (New X-Men, X-Force) and artist by Ramon Bachs (Civil War: Front Line) kick off a brand-new ongoing series right here with "The Grail" part 1 of 4! Following the aftermath of BATTLE FOR THE COWL, a new Batman watches over Gotham City. But not everyone is ready to give up on the old one. Christos Gage (Thunderbolts & Ghost Rider) joins Avatar Press with his created-own series Absolution - a seven-part story about a John Dusk, a superhuman law enforcer, who does everything by the book and fights for the good cause. What happens when John 'clicks' and has had enough of the system failing and law breakers getting off? That's when he decides to takes the law into his own hands and becomes a costumed vigilante, brutally punishing offenders. Recommend for mature readers.

Disney/Pixar and Boom! Studios come together for a Toy Story adventure. It seems like Woody and Buzz have a guest, a mysterious stranger in the form of an electronic shaped egg that Andy has brought home into his bedroom. Friend of foe? as Woody and Buzz welcome the newcomer, while Mr Potato Head and Rex fear for their safety and skeem to get rid of the wierd thing-a-ma-jig. An epic tale by Dan Jolley (JSA: The Unholy Three) and Chris Moreno (Image's Sidekicks). Recommended for all ages.

Over fifteen years on, Chris Claremont continues what he started in X-men: Forever, picking up from issue #3 of X-men volume two, which began in 1991. Magneto is dead and to prevent mutant kind and man wagin war, it's up to the Professor X's team of X-men to maintain the balance between the two. Claremont teams-up with artist Tom Grumment (Thunderbolts) on this ongoing series.

THE PHANTOM LADY BUST

The Phantom Lady - most recognisable with her pin-up style look, showcasing a voluptuous figure and a skimpy clad outfit, which became famous in the 40s. She first appeared in Police Comics #1, by Quality Comics in the 1940s. Fast forward about ten years later and DC obtained the rights of all of the Quality Comics characters. Phantom Lady soon join the Freedom Fighters in Justice League of America issue #107.

From the Women of the DC Universe line; Sandra Knight strikes a pose in the classic pinup style as she sits atop a World War II-inspired base.
