The Computer Group has purchased Accurate Electronics and is now located across the street in the Accurate Electronics building at 2171 E Morgan Ave. Please use the Accurate Electronics entrance for all computer repairs. Our new hours are Monday - Friday 8AM to 6PM and we are now open on Saturdays 9AM to 1PM.

We hope you find the new location better, both for parking and for hours of availabity.

Cold Weather and Laptop Screens

We have had several customers bring in laptops in for repair over the past few months with damaged screens due to cold weather. Some of the customers said that they left their laptop in their vehicle overnight and the next morning their screen was damaged. As a precaution, please remember to bring your laptops inside and don't leave them in your vehicle in the cold.

Heat is your computers worst enemy!

Dust and dirt can degrade the performance of your computer and possible shorten the life of it. Heat is the worst enemy of many critical components such as your hard drive and CPU. When your heatsinks and fans get clogged, the heat can no longer dissipate as it was designed to do by the computers cooling system.

We dust it for you, free!

Everytime we take in a computer for repair at The Computer Group, we will inspect the computer and clean if necessary. We use an oil-less air compressor to clean out the internal components of your computer case such as your CPU, GPU, case cooling fans, heatsinks and drive bays. We have witnessed one cleaning drop the temperature of the CPU by 20 degrees. A cooler computer will run better and last longer! This is a courtesy service we provide free of charge.

You can do it too!

Cleaning your computer is something you can do on a regular basis at home. We suggest dusting your computer a few times a year at minimum.

First, power off your computer and remove the power cord from the back of the tower. Most desktop towers will have a side panel that is easily removed with one or two screws. Many times these screws are "thumb screws" which you can unscrew without the use of a tool.

If you are using an air compressor, make sure the compressor is oil-less. You can also use cans of compressed air if you do not have access to a compressor. When blowing the dust out of fans, hold the fan with your finger to keep it from spinning. The high pressures of air can sometimes make the fan spin at a faster rate than it was intended for and cause damage to the fan.

We have switched our invoicing and billing system to a web-based system that allows you, the customer, to login to your account. Once you are logged in, you can see your invoice history, payment history, and pay invoices online. Your login and password will be emailed to you the next time we create an invoice for you.
