Joe, Peter, Gorgeous Georgia, Little Angel Alie and myself would like to wish you a good morning.

Well friends it might look a little empty here today but that will change soon. We truly need the time to adapt to our newest situation here at home. Peter suddenly became ill… a terrible ulcerated big toe and a very severe blood infection (many other things that I won’t go into now). Thank GOD we got him into the hospital when we did because they said he probably would not have made it if we waited for the weekends end. Peter has had his surgery and came through it like a trooper. Now it is time to heal. He had a PICC line put in and we will be administering IV Antibiotics 3 times a day for the next 6 weeks from home and he will be getting physical therapy. As things progress I will keep you informed. This was a close one and they only thing that is important is that he is ok and continues to be ok. His mental wellness is a priority. I had an update from Sunday if you want to read more.

As always I ask if you can keep us in your thoughts and prayers or send a ray of sun. It helps so much. The other thing you can do for us is to visit a few things on the blog each day that would be greatly appreciated. We have not been posting every day like usual (last week was the first time we didn’t have a post in 11 years!).

Hopefully A Morning Cup Of Joe will come back in usual form next week. Today we just want you to fill up the party so we have lots to feature. Things might take a little time to get back to speed but it won’t be long. So let’s get this party started…show us your creations!

An Update from The Cottage Market

A heartfelt update from The Cottage Market about life, health, family and why posting has been a little slower.

Hi there friends… how are you?

I hope all is well with you and that you are finding little pockets of peace and joy wherever you can. I wanted to take a few minutes today to share a little update from behind the scenes here at The Cottage Market.

You may have noticed that things have been a bit quieter than usual around here. After posting every day for almost 11 years, it feels very strange to have empty days on the blog… but life has been asking us to slow down a bit.

My rehab is going much slower than I expected. I have also gained a new little companion… my oxygen tank on a leash… and let me tell you, I am not exactly thrilled about it. Between the pain, the lack of mobility, the tiredness and the foggy mind that comes along with it all, some days are just much harder than others.

On top of that, my husband is coping with Parkinson’s, and lately it seems to be affecting his short term memory more and more. That brings its own set of challenges, worries and adjustments.

Then there is my son Pete, who will be having surgery on Tuesday due to an ulcerated toe that developed a deep infection. Part of the toe will have to be removed, and as anyone who has dealt with diabetes knows, this is truly a diabetic nightmare.

I also want to gently mention that mental health is very much intertwined with all of this. I will be talking a little more about that soon, because I truly believe these conversations matter. Like I always say… if even one person feels less alone because of a post… then it was worth sharing.

Of course, we know things can always be worse, and we are deeply thankful for life, family and every bit of hope we can hold onto. But I also wanted you to know why we have been absent here and there. You are not just readers to me… you are friends… and I did not want the quiet days to go unexplained.

So where do we stand right now?

For a little while, things may look a bit different here at The Cottage Market. There may be a few empty days… a guest post here and there… some days with just a printable… a feature… or a smaller post. New topics are still coming, and I am still very excited about them, but they may come a little slower than usual.

And yes… wouldn’t you know it… all of this had to happen during a time when blogging has already been very hard out there. But somehow, some way, I believe we will keep moving forward together and get back to those big, helpful, creative posts we all love.

One small thing I would be so grateful for… if you have a moment, even on days when there is not a brand new post, please stop by and click around the blog a bit. Visit an older printable, a thrift store makeover, a recipe, a craft idea… anything that catches your eye. It really does help keep everything moving and shaking around here, and I would appreciate it more than you know.

And if you could send a few extra thoughts and prayers for Pete on Tuesday, we would be so thankful.
