PASADENA, California (AP) — Snoop Dogg was charged Tuesday with felony gun and drug counts, Los Angeles County prosecutors said.

The 35-year-old rap star was scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in Pasadena, California, prosecutors said in a statement.

Snoop Dogg faces charges of gun possession by a felon and sale or transportation of marijuana.

He was first arrested October 26 by Burbank police at Bob Hope Airport on suspicion of transportation of a controlled substance. Burbank police later discovered a gun at his home.

If convicted, he faces up to four years in state prison.

“These were changes we fully expected,” said Snoop Dogg’s attorney Donald Etra. “They will be dealt with in court tomorrow. The matter will be resolved tomorrow.”

The rapper was convicted in 1990 of cocaine possession and charged with gun possession after a 1993 traffic stop. He pleaded guilty in exchange for three years’ probation and a promise to make public service announcements against violence.

The rapper’s manager, Constance Schwartz, said there would be no comment Tuesday but a written statement would be issued Wednesday.

A male roommate, curious why the shampoo wasn’t moved for some time, found wires protruding from the back of the bottle, then called police, authorities said.

The camera recorded through a pinhole, and the images were sent to Steven Thibodeau’s television, police said. Thibodeau, 25, had placed the camera to record the women showering and made video of one of them changing clothes, according to police.

Thibodeau was arraigned Wednesday on 15 counts of voyeurism and one count of evidence tampering, which alleges he tried to delete some images.

He was being held in jail on $250,000 bail. The defense attorney who attended his arraignment was out of the office Thursday and could not be reached for comment.

Police said Thibodeau made a compilation video of one of the women, but they have no evidence he transferred the files to the Internet. It wasn’t yet known how long the shampoo had been wired.

That’s how police ended up finding and charging 20-year-old Joseph Eric Renno with open lewdness last week.

According to court records:

Renno, of the 300 block of W. Reliance Road in Franconia Township, was spotted taking magazines and clothes into a dressing room at the Wal-Mart off Route 309 in Richland Township on March 1.

The store’s loss prevention officer suspected he might be trying to steal things when he walked out of the dressing room a bit later without the merchandise.

She went to check the dressing room and found the magazines and a man’s shirt, plus panties and a bra. She also found a thick substance she believed to be semen on the items and the dressing room mirror.

The merchandise, valued at $36, was destroyed except for the shirt, which police kept as evidence.

Another Wal-Mart employee told police the man frequented the store; she knew him as ”Eric.” Employees promised to call police if the man returned.

He did last Friday.

Police went to the Wal-Mart when employees called, found Renno and took him to headquarters for questioning. He admitted masturbating on the mirror and the merchandise, police said.

Richland Police Chief Larry Cerami said there’s no evidence Renno planned to masturbate on more items when he returned to the store.

He declined to answer other questions about the case, including ones about Renno’s motive and which magazines he took to the dressing room.

”It’s quite an offensive case, and I think we ought to just let the system do what the system has to do at this point,” Cerami said.

In addition to open lewdness, Renno is charged with disorderly conduct and criminal mischief. He was released after he was charged. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 12, and a district judge could decide then if the case merits setting bail.

A woman who answered the phone at Renno’s house Wednesday afternoon hung up when a reporter asked to speak with him.

A manager at the Richland Wal-Mart referred questions about the incident to a corporate spokeswoman.

”Out of respect for our customers and associates, we certainly do not tolerate inappropriate behavior in our Wal-Mart locations,” spokeswoman Marisa Bluestone said, ”and we’ve worked closely with our local authorities to help capture this individual.”

The vicious mugging, caught on surveillance tape, has sparked outrage in a city where people are accustomed to hearing about strange and violent crimes. Police have launched an all-out manhunt, but it’s not just the cops who want the villain’s head.

“I could hold him, and let the woman beat him up,” said Joe Sarju, 59, who lives in the Queens neighborhood where the attack occurred. “I’d love to beat him, but then they would lock me up.”

The heartlessness of the March 4 attack is clearly conveyed on the grainy, black-and-white videotape, which has now been broadcast well beyond New York.

In it, 101-year-old Rose Morat is trying to leave her apartment building to go to church. The mugger, a man who looms over the senior citizen and is holding on to a bicycle, pretends to help her get through the vestibule.

Then, he turns to grab Morat’s head and delivers three hard punches to her face, and swipes her purse. The dazed victim tries to reach for her purse when the mugger hits her again, pushing her and her walker to the ground.

He got away with $33 and Morat’s house keys. She suffered a fractured cheekbone and spent time in the hospital. The attack didn’t break Morat’s spirit, though: She has said in the days since that if she had been just a bit younger, she would have gone after the guy.

“I’m a very strong woman,” she said. “I’ve been that way my whole life.”

The NYPD has assigned dozens of detectives to the case and shown every uniformed officer in the city the surveillance video. Police are canvassing nearby residential buildings and businesses.

They believe the same man also attacked 85-year-old Solange Elizee, another neighborhood resident, shortly after robbing Morat. Elizee suffered facial cuts and bruises. The mugger took off with $32 and her wedding band.

Based on the victims’ memories and the tape, police say the attacker is a black man in his 30s, about 5 feet 10 and 165 pounds. He wore a winter jacket with a fur-lined hood. Police said Tuesday there were no new developments.

Several posters have been placed throughout the generally quiet Queens neighborhood, urging anyone with information to call with tips. So far, at least $18,000 in reward money is being promised by several sources, including the police.

On Tuesday, lawmakers in the state Senate proposed making it a felony to assault anyone older than 70. Currently, such assaults are misdemeanors, punishable by no more than a year in jail.

Meanwhile, New Yorkers struggled for the right words to describe the attacker because expletives just don’t seem adequate. In interviews and letters to newspapers, some suggested he deserves life imprisonment — or perhaps until he’s 101.

John Brown, 45, said the mugger must have been on drugs, because no rational person would do such a thing. “That was a cowardly act,” he fumed.

Others were reminded of the perils that could face their own parents and grandparents. Some wondered whether the mugger’s mother was alive.

“My mom is 95, and if someone ever raised a hand to her … they’d be dead,” said Anthony Riccardelli, 58, who works near the crime scene.

For others, it’s not just about getting revenge. Glenridge senior center in Queens decided to bring back self-defense courses after receiving dozens of phone calls on the topic after the attacks.

Susan Simonetti, the center’s executive director, also had a warning for the mugger: “Pick on somebody your own age.”

LAREDO, Texas (AP) — A citywide scavenger hunt turned sour for 40 Texas high school students when police learned of it and arrested them on felony charges of theft and engaging in organized criminal activity.

Laredo police accused the students — most of them in their final year at Laredo high schools — of stealing up to five truckloads of loot from across town. The scavenger list included items such as city traffic signs and pinatas, police said.

“We will cooperate fully, review the case and collaborate with officials to determine all the facts,” said Marco Alvarado, spokesman for the Laredo school district. “If needed, we will take appropriate action as specified in the student Code of Conduct.”

Police arrested the 32 adults and eight juveniles March 2. The students’ names were not released.

Officers first uncovered the escapade when a group of five students was pulled over for speeding. Their car contained stolen stop signs, a garden hose and other items, police said.

A short time later, the police department started receiving calls from residents who were angry about commotion caused by cars speeding in their neighborhood and stopping at a vacant lot.

Police determined the lot to be a drop-off point for stolen items. Officers arrested the students as they made drop-offs, the department said.

The older students were taken to jail, while the younger students were taken to a juvenile detention center. The police also impounded several of the students’ vehicles.

Juan Cruz, an attorney for United Independent School District, said the district would review the criminal charges on Monday and figure out what action to take.

A third-degree felony charge of engaging in organized criminal activity is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine. A state jail felony theft charge is punishable by up to two years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.

“The next thing I knew, I had a big bang on the side of my face,” said Rose Morat, who suffered a fractured cheekbone and lost her purse and $33 to the mugger.

The attack was captured by a surveillance camera in the lobby of her Queens apartment building last Sunday.

“I’m quite sure that if it had happened when I was younger, I would have been after him,” she said. “I’m a very strong woman. I’ve been that way my whole life.”

Police said the same man is believed to have later attacked a second elderly woman in the neighborhood. Investigators were searching for a suspect Saturday.

“We are pulling out all the stops to find him,” Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said in a statement. “We want to stop him before he strikes again.”

Morat said she was headed to church when she met the man in her lobby. He offered to help her make her way out, but she declined.

“I know how to handle myself,” she said.

As Morat maneuvered her walker through the building’s small vestibule, the man slowly put his bicycle against the wall, turned, and attacked her, the security video showed.

Her hat flew off, but she remained on her feet as the man removed her bag and felt her coat pockets.

Then, before making his escape, he punched her in the head again and shoved her to the ground.

Morat spent three days in the hospital.

The 85-year-old woman believed to be the mugger’s second victim, Solange Elizee, told police she was punched and pushed to the floor outside her apartment door by a man who had initially offered to help her get home.

“I like to help old people,” he said before turning violent, according to Elizee.

The man took her purse and got away with $32, police said.

“God saved my life,” she said.

A judge set bail Friday at $50,000 for Mario Sims, 21, who had been awaiting trial on 2004 charges of child enticement and first-degree sexual assault of a child.

Defense lawyer Margaret Johnson argued against the bail amount, but Racine County Circuit Judge Emily Mueller stood firm.

“A significant bond is legally necessary given the fact he absconded, admittedly for one of the more unique reasons I’ve heard in my time on the bench,” the judge said.

According to court records, Sims had been out of jail about three weeks when he cut off the bracelet and missed a court date September 6. His defense attorney at the time, Domingo Cruz, told the judge his client was seen getting into the television show’s limousine.

Sims appeared on an episode of the show that aired last fall.

STEVENS POINT, Wis.

Officials told the Stevens Point Journal the 24-year-old caller said he needed help after trying Saturday night to bash his way through the door with a metal shovel. Police officers met the man in the church parking lot.

Police reports said the man told officers he wanted to get married at the church. Officers searched the man and said they discovered marijuana in a “prescription bottle.”

The man then reportedly showed police his house, pointing out more marijuana. He allegedly stated he was also storing stolen prescription muscle relaxants.

Police arrested the man. The paper said “tentative charges” were filed, alleging criminal property damage and possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and prescription drugs.

Capt. Kevin Ruder told the Journal the case is “definitely a weird one.”

The driver, 54-year-old Howard R. Fisher, had two large duffel bags in his trunk packed with plastic bags of marijuana worth more than $150,000, according to Orangeburg deputy Warren Pendry.

The officers also found marijuana joints and cocaine in Fisher’s car.

He was charged with driving under the influence, cocaine possession and trafficking marijuana.

WATAUGA, Texas

“The video contains disturbing images of the young children being badgered into smoking a marijuana cigar, commonly referred to as a ‘blunt,’” according to a release from the Watauga Department of Public Safety.

The bail for Demetris McCoy, 17, was set at $150,000. He remained in jail Friday night, police said.

Police found the video Feb. 22 while investigating McCoy and Vanswan Polty, 18, in connection with some area burglaries. Polty faces burglary charges and is free on $22,000 bail, according to court records.

The children have been in the custody of Child Protective Services since last week, a spokeswoman said.

Russell was charged with one count of attempted check fraud and one count of intimidation, which are both felonies, and one count of resisting law enforcement, which is a misdemeanor. He could face time in the slammer.

The cops were called to the bank after Russell attempted to cash the supposedly-divine check, which was written on an invalid Bank One check with no imprint, White said. Russell had several other checks with him that were signed in the same manner but made out with different dollar amounts, including one for $100,000.

Russell struggled with police as they tried to arrest him, White said, and then threatened them as they transported him to the Hobart Police Department.

“I’ve heard about God giving out eternal life, but this is the first time I’ve heard of him giving out cash,” White said.

A court date has yet to be set for Russell. As of this writing, he is being held at the Lake County Jail on $1,000 bail. Here’s hoping that he gets the money from someone besides God.

The two handed a Bank of America branch teller a note demanding cash, smiled as they waited and then walked out with stolen money Tuesday, police said.

It wasn’t clear if they had a weapon, police said.

Their images, captured on bank surveillance video during the 12:15 p.m. robbery Tuesday, were released by police and already had led to several tips, Cobb County police spokesman officer Wayne Delk said.

Authorities have not said how much money was taken, but Delk said it is “considerable.”

Police said the two could be as young as 16. Witnesses were unable to tell investigators whether they left in a car.

The store is in a strip mall in an upscale west Cobb residential neighborhood, about 28 miles north of Atlanta.

Delk said one of the girls appears to be laughing in a bank surveillance camera image — as though “it’s all fun and games to them.”

That’s because the two teen boys - along with a third still being sought - used the telephone at the house they were burglarizing, but they didn’t call the school, police said.

They delivered the threat by dialing 911.

“This indicates they would have been better off in school rather than burglarizing someone’s house,” said Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police spokesman Sgt. Mike Wilson. “Clearly that was not the brightest plan.”

Two of the boys were in jail Friday night. Police were searching for the third.

Around 9 a.m. Friday, 911 dispatchers received the call reporting a bomb in the cafeteria at Southwest Middle School. As with any 911 call, those receiving it trace the call to its source. Officers rushed to the location of the call at The Oaks at Brandlewood apartment complex on Garrard Avenue.

They arrived to find the apartment had been broken into. Officers searched the neighborhood and spotted the three teenager boys, whose arms were full of jewelry, video game systems, DVDs and other electronics, Wilson said.

Officers attempted to stop the boys, but they ran back to the apartment complex.

Police chased and apprehended two of them - Pierre Brown, 17, and a 14-year-old Southwest Middle student. Police did not identify the 14-year-old because of his juvenile status.

As officers were searching the neighborhood for the third suspect, they found a second apartment burglarized, Wilson said. Moreover, there had been a break-in at a house on Sandlewood Drive.

Police believe the teens pried open the doors and ransacked the homes for anything of value.

The two boys who were arrested are charged with three counts of burglary. Campus Police plan to charge both with transmitting a false public alarm, which is a felony, said Bucky Burnsed, spokesman for the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System.

Pierre was being held in the Chatham County jail. The 14-year-old was taken to the Savannah Regional Youth Detention Center.

K-9s tracked the third suspect, but the dogs were unable to locate him. No description of the third boy was available.

However, the dogs did find more of the items stolen in the burglaries, which were returned to their owners, Wilson said.

Police said the two teens, who live in the neighborhood where the burglaries occurred, are being investigated in a string of other crimes in the area.

“We’ve seen a sharp increase in burglaries in West Chatham County within the last week,” Wilson said. “Both of the individuals caught (Friday) have extensive records for these types of crimes.”

Brown is not a student in the public school system. He was released from the detention center last month.

“This goes right to the heart of truancy,” Wilson said. “School-age children who are out and about during normal school hours are typically engaged in criminal activity. That’s why we take truancy so seriously.”

The phony bomb threat caused middle school students to miss almost three hours of classes while bomb-sniffing K-9s combed the hallways, Burnsed said.

Police found no evidence of any explosives.

Besides these teens, Campus Police have arrested 10 people so far this year on bomb threat charges.

Two girls, aged nine and ten, said they saw Joan Donatelli, 59, dipping a pen cap into a plastic bag filled with white powder, then putting it to her nose.

Police confronted the substitute teacher at her home in Lewiston, New York, after finding traces of white powder in the classroom, reports Metro.

She handed over a small bag of powder and two pen caps and admitting to using cocaine in front of the children.

“She stated that she had a problem, that she had an addiction, something she’s been struggling with,” said Sergeant Frank Previte.

The school confirmed that Donatelli used to teach at the school full time, but is now retired, and acts as a substitute.

SAN FRANCISCO — A convicted bank robber went on a crime spree just a week after being released from federal custody and was caught in part because he never changed out of the 1980s-style clothes - including a Members Only jacket — he was wearing when he was released from prison, San Francisco police said today.

Paul Paris, 54, was released from a halfway house Feb. 2 and proceeded to rob a Citibank branch at 4638 Mission St. on Feb. 9, said robbery Inspector Dan Gardner. The robber was caught on a surveillance camera wearing a Members Only jacket and a hairnet, Gardner said — the same clothes Paris had on when his probation officer photographed him the day he was released from prison.

“It’s classic – I’ve used this line before, but once a bank robber, always a bank robber,” Gardner said. “We had a great surveillance photo.”

The surveillance photo of the robber was distributed to local law-enforcement agencies, court records show, and U.S. Probation Officer Jennifer James recognized Paris in the picture.

Gardner secured an arrest warrant Tuesday, he said, but police hadn’t yet caught up to Paris when he allegedly struck another bank in Millbrae on Wednesday and a third bank in Folsom on Thursday.

Paris was taken into custody without incident at the Franciscan Hotel on Third Street around 3 a.m. today by officers from the Bayview Station, Gardner said.

Gardner would not say how much money the robber made off with in the thefts, but court records show he took $6,650 from the San Francisco Citibank.

Paris approached a bank teller and twice asked, “Do you know where I can get the Federal Express card?” FBI Special Agent Richard Anderson wrote in an affidavit filed in U.S. District Court in San Francisco.

When the teller replied, “I’m not sure I know what you’re talking about,” Paris took out a small silver handgun from a backpack and said, “Give me the money!” the affidavit said.

After the teller handed over some money, Paris said, “Give me hundreds, fifties, twenties. Give me all your money!” Anderson wrote.

Paris threw back rubber bands that had been wrapped around the bills, saying, “I don’t need that!” the affidavit said.

Christopher Steven Harris was arrested in a south Aurora neighborhood Friday afternoon.

A witness called police after he saw Harris pull over a burgundy sedan behind a Kohl’s department store near South Tower Road and East Hampden Avenue on Friday.

Harris was driving a grey Nissan with blue and red flashing lights on the dashboard and no rear license plate, police said.

The female driver of the burgundy car left after Harris stepped out of his car, and Harris drove out of the parking lot. She was able to direct police to Harris.

Harris was charged with impersonating a police officer, a class six felony. He was released on $2,000 bail. A marijuana pipe was found in his car.

Adrian Hilton, 26, was accused of depositing a marijuana stash in a Pizza Pit deposit bag and slipping the bundle into a night deposit box at American Bank and Trust last fall.

According to a criminal complaint, Hilton, a delivery driver for Pizza Pit, admitted the marijuana was his and that he had inadvertently deposit it.

Hilton was charged with possession of marijuana, but Assistant Johnson County Attorney David Tiffany said he would ask a judge to dismiss the charge since a bank teller gave the marijuana back to Hilton when he returned to the bank the next day.

“The bank teller gave the marijuana back to him so we didn’t have any evidence,” Tiffany said. “She was smart enough to call police, but then she gave it back to him.”

Tiffany said no charges would be filed against the teller.

And this is three years after he robbed another bank but dropped his state ID card while pocketing the cash, sources said.

On Jan. 12, Thompson, 45, slipped a holdup note to a teller in Commerce Bank’s Park Slope branch, on Fifth Avenue near Garfield Place, cops said. He got back $2,340 stacked to conceal the soon-to-explode dye pack.

Yet, just two days later, Thompson allegedly took a livery cab to the same bank, told the driver to wait, went in and handed a note to a different teller - who handed him $1,740 and another dye pack.

This one burst inside the cab, prompting the driver to jump out and the never-say-dye Thompson to take the wheel, speed off and abandon the car a few blocks away, authorities said.

But cops found fingerprints in the bank. This time, he was arrested on Jan. 25 at a pal’s place in Boonton, N.J.

Saws, car stereos, even sets of golf clubs were all recovered from a string of burglaries in Northwest Indiana, and police think one man is responsible.

“The world’s dumbest criminal, maybe,” is how burglary victim Chris Brock described the alleged criminal.

Brock says he found a paper trail Phillip Miley allegedly left while breaking into his home, including a receipt from when he bonded out of jail on another burglary charge.

Police believe the suspect hit a home in Lake County and up to four in Porter County.

Lake County Deputy Commander Shaw Spurlock invited Miley in to talk, and that’s when police say he revealed how he allegedly bagged the items.

“As far as we know, these crimes occurred on one single night. He was busy the entire night,” said Detective Jeff Biggs of the Porter County Sheriff’s Department.

“I’ve lived here for seven years and never had an incident. And then, all of a sudden in a week I’ve had three incidents,” Brock said.

He says the Dec. 28 burglary seems to have touched off more vandalism at his home.

He says he still has injuries from when someone stole his dump truck, then ran into him and just Tuesday morning, an explosion in his front yard.

Police are investigating to see whether the cases are connected.

In the meantime Brock and other victims wait to have their belongings returned to them.

The name of his attorney was not immediately available.

The victim, who was not identified, said his particular GPS had a unique power cord and when he found it being offered for sale on the Internet about 10 days after it was stolen, he checked the serial number and it matched the one he had owned, police said Monday.

“Unbelievable as it seems, he was in the bidding to buy his own stolen GPS,” Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice said.

The police investigation led to Rangkar, who owns a “second hand” store in the borough of Queens. A search of his home and business uncovered several dozen items that police suspect had been stolen out of automobiles in the New York metropolitan area.

Police and prosecutors were hesitant to provide details of how they determined all the devices had been stolen, but at least two of the laptops were stamped “Property of St. John’s University.” Detective Ray Cote noted that the GPS devices specifically had the addresses of the legitimate owners programmed in and police were now contacting those victims to eventually return the items.

Catherine England, a spokeswoman for the San Jose, Calif.-based eBay, said her company has a 2,000 employee “trust and safety” unit that constantly monitors the site for illegal activity. She said the unit includes a liaison with law enforcement and that anyone suspected of illegal activity immediately has their account canceled.

Early Monday morning, Rangkar was still offering a number of items for sale on the site; it was not immediately clear whether the items were suspected of being stolen. Rangkar, who worked under the name “nydannysjewelry,” was identified as a “power seller” on the eBay site and buyers as recently as Sunday were raving about him.

“Fast delivery. Excellent product. Will do business again,” read one comment.

England said it was possible police had yet to notify her company about the arrest.

After taking fingerprints of Joshlynn Leigh, 30, of Strattanville, troopers learned of the warrant and placed her under arrest at 11:35 a.m.

A thief was arrested after he repeatedly stopped during a police pursuit to smoke crack.

Police say the man, 45, from Stratford, Connecticut, had been driving a stolen car in Bridgeport.

The chase began after he attempted to pay for petrol with cards belonging to the car owner.

With police on their way, he abandoned the car and ran off on foot, reports the Connecticut Post.

After climbing over a fence, he stopped to smoke crack before running off again, officers say.

He headed off through the local seaport, and went to stand on a boat - where he had another crack break.

The man was still on the boat smoking crack when officers apprehended him.

Police have distributed a photograph of the man, believed to be the main offender in a group which held eight patrons and a barmaid hostage at gunpoint in Rotorua’s Ruck’n Maul bar on Sunday night.

Police believe the man was hot and pulled up his balaclava in a place where he thought he was not observed.

Five people are being sought for the hold-up.

Two patrons were bashed in the robbery, which lasted 10 minutes and ended when the raiders fled with an unknown amount of cash.

Two of the robbers carried guns and ordered barmaid Stevie Mitchell to open 16 poker machines as patrons cowered on the floor.

Ms Mitchell was also forced to hand over the keys to her Nissan Primera.

Detective Sergeant Garry Hawkins said the victims had been through an ordeal which had “the potential for homicide”.

Mr Hawkins said the robbers were unlikely to have taken unloaded weapons when entering a bar where patrons were drinking.

Police are also looking for a maroon Subaru Legacy stationwagon seen at Kuirau Park in the central city before the 8.30pm robbery.

The robbers dumped Ms Mitchell’s car at the park and police believe the Subaru was driven by accomplices waiting to pick them up.

A 21-year-old Winona woman and 25-year-old man from Buffalo City, Wis., went to E-Z Carwash at Ronald Avenue and West King Street on the evening of Oct. 18. With a security video camera rolling, they smoothed out a bill, attached a string and fed it into the slot. The machine ate the bill, and the string broke off, according to police.

The woman kicked the machine, and they left, police said.

The next day they called the manager and asked for a refund. The manager found the bill, complete with tape and holes in it for the string.

When the woman showed up, the manager took down her license plate number, showed her the videotape and contacted police.

Police said Friday that prosecutors likely would charge the couple with possessing a theft tool.

Walter E. Moore, 48 of Lookout Mountain, Ga., was arrested on Sunday around 2 a.m. in the parking lot of J.T.’s Fish Market. He was charged with public lewdness and public intoxication.

According to Fort Payne Assistant Police Chief Michael Grant, Moore had come out of the restaurant to relieve himself. Apparently, Moore remembered to face away from the restaurant so other guests would not see his private parts but forgot to protect himself from the eyes of the people sitting at the intersection directly in front of him.

“The area was well lit and a cop just happened to be sitting at the intersection,” Grant said. “He saw the whole thing.”

“When he went to see his probation officer, he was wearing the same clothes (as) when he robbed the bank,” said Clearwater police spokesman Wayne Shelor.

Russo lives at 40 Bay Esplanade, Apt. 3, in Clearwater Beach. About 2:30 p.m. Monday, Shelor said, Russo went into a Wachovia Bank in the 25700 block of U.S. 19 N and handed a note to a teller demanding money.

Russo escaped, Shelor said, but he left behind fingerprints that officers used together with video surveillance to identify him.

The police officers learned that Russo was scheduled to visit his probation officer two days later. Around noon Wednesday, Russo checked in with the officer at a building at Lake Avenue and Park Street - about two blocks from the Clearwater police station.

Russo was charged with bank robbery and was being held at the Pinellas County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail.

Martinez, 37, was arrested after Reno cops spotted his car weaving across lanes and stopping suddenly.

When officers pulled over the vehicle before it could enter a highway, they found a plastered Martinez in the passenger seat and his son behind the wheel.

Martinez, pictured above in a mug shot snapped at the Washoe County lockup, directed the boy to drive him home because he was too drunk to do it himself, cops said. Martinez is facing a felony child endangerment rap.

The three criminals expected to hit the jackpot with their raid on the Nova Bank in Constanta city centre.

But they did not know that the bank was relocating to new premises and the building was empty.

Police said the gang broke into the building, which had been closed for renovation work, by forcing the main doors.

A police spokesman said: “The robbers thought they would make the hit of their lives but instead broke into an empty building.

“They couldn’t find anything to steal, not even some heating pipes they tried to remove from the walls.”

The robbers were seen by neighbours when they left the building empty-handed but police couldn’t catch them.

Officers said they have taken evidence from the scene and had already drawn up a list of suspects.

Overland Park, Kansas – A list of names got some Johnson County Middle School students suspended, but according to police, there wasn’t any crime.

Six Overland Park students who go to Indian Woods Middle School were suspended for ten days accused of making a list of people they’d kill if murder were legal.

According to police, the students involved never made any actual threats. Police said the kids just makes a list.

“Kids do stupid things, so if you make a list of something, that was dumb,” said Alex Karanevich, high school student. “Letting administrators find it was dumber.”

FOX 4 talked to some high school students, who graduated from Indian Woods, and said they’re surprised to hear about the list, but not the punishment.

“I could go for a suspension for making a list of who you’d like to kill,” said Jordan Boucher, Indian Woods graduate.

The five girls and one boy accused of making the list were suspended for at least ten days.

“I think that’s a little overdrawn, ten days,” said Josh Hartman of Leawood, Kan.

Hartman, 19, said there’s got to be more to the story.

“It could just be a couple of girls or guy upset at friends, or someone not being chosen to hang out,” said Hartman.

Police said school administrators found the list on October 13.

“I understand the threat and the feeling that schools have to prepare and be cautious about everything that’s going on,” said Hartman.

Hartman was talking about the wave of school shootings across the country this fall in Joplin, Missouri, Colorado, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

But, since police said nothing criminal happened at Indian Woods, the students we talked to list suspension as the best punishment.

Not heeding that sage advice Thomas Minks was at a local crack house when he remembered he needed to appear in court on auto theft charges from stealing a vehicle back in January.

Minks elected to carjack a 2002 Mercedes-Benz S500 V in an effort to make his court appearance. Police tracked the stolen vehicle via its GPS system. Minks tried to evade the officers, nearly running two of them down before being subdued with a stun gun.

A drink driver escaped conviction in Canada because he believed Shania Twain was helping him to drive.

Matt Brownlee was arrested after police spotted a pickup truck speeding along a busy street in downtown Ottawa.

The 33-year-old told psychiatrists that he believed the country singer was helping him drive, reports CBC News.

A judge ruled Brownlee was not criminally responsible because he suffers from delusions that female celebrities communicate with him telepathically.

He could now be detained in hospital, released under supervision or given an absolute discharge.

A West Deer winery was burglarized and vandalized Monday night by a man who had come from a drug and alcohol treatment center just down the road.

The 18-year-old suspect broke into La Casa Narcisi Winery on Gibsonia Road using a piece of lumber, broke several bottles of wine, and tampered with three of the 1,000-liter tanks where the wine was being stored, said West Deer Police Chief Jon Lape.

Damage was estimated at $20,000 — but will be more than $100,000 if the wine in the tanks is judged to have gone bad.

Jesse Derflinger of Beaver Falls was arrested soon after the break-in, and charged with burglary, theft, receiving stolen property, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and public intoxication, said Chief Lape.

One would hope in judging any spoilage within the tanks a “urine sniff test” would conducted.

P.S. Would you be surprised to learn the reason this grape juice thief was in the area was because he was attending the Ridgeview Adolescent Behavioral Health Center? Citing medical privacy laws, Ridgeview spokeswoman Andrea Young could not reveal whether Mr. Derflinger was a client at the treatment center.

A fight between two motel maids, armed with a plunger and a mop, ended with one in hospital and the other in jail.

The women accused each other of taking toilet rolls from each other’s cleaning carts at a motel in Charleston, South Carolina.

Police were called after the fight left one of the women, 52, with a welt requiring hospital treatment, reports the Post and Courier.

The other maid, Deloris Smith, 47, told police she was defending herself from a woman wielding a plunger.

She was charged with assault.

Two masked robbers tried to hold up a cashless credit union bank at gunpoint in California.

They burst into the ‘bank’ at Benicia with weapons drawn and shouted at employees to hand over the money, reports the San Francisco Chronicle.

“I would say that apparently they weren’t really prepared,” said Benicia police Capt. Steve Mortensen.

The robbers apparently had no idea they’d attempted to rob a credit union that immediately deposits its money, making it impossible for anyone to access it, he said.

“It’s a common theme among a lot of credit unions.”

Schoolboys stole to fund red light trips.

A gang of Austrian schoolboys stole £18,000 worth of valuables to finance after school visits to prostitutes.

The four boys, aged 14 to 15 and unnamed for legal reasons, took laptops, mobile phones and wallets from teachers and other children at their school in Graz.

They then took their loot to the local red light district and handed it over to prostitutes in return for free sex sessions.

According to a Graz police spokesman, the boys were caught after an investigation into increased local school crime.

A New Zealand shoplifter was caught after a store tricked her into thinking she’d won a prize.

A Mad Butcher shop in Palmerston North put a CCTV picture of the thief under the heading: ‘Lucky Shopper’.

But it proved not so lucky for Amy Adams who was arrested when she turned up to claim her ‘prize’.

Adams pleaded guilty to stealing chicken from the shop when she appeared in the Palmerston North District Court.

She was sentenced to 40-hours community work and ordered to pay compensation.

A bankobber was left empty-handed when he turned up ten minutes late and found the branch had already closed for the day.

Staff at the Podravska Bank in Zagreb, Croatia, told police they were just getting ready to go home when they heard the doors rattling and saw a masked man holding a gun trying to get in.

Police spokesman Davor Tor said: “Most banks here open until 7pm but this robber obviously picked the wrong branch.”

“Staff said even though he was wearing a mask they could tell from his movements that he was very confused to find the bank wasn’t open.”

Police are looking for the robber and say if caught he will be charged with attempted armed robbery.

A Utah teenager called the police when a burglar stole a big bag of marijuana from his home.

And, after police pulled in a suspect, the 18-year-old agreed to go to the station to ‘identify’ the drugs.

The ‘victim’ was then arrested and charged with possession of drugs with intent to supply, reports the Deseret Morning News.

“He actually came and identified it as his,” said Orem Police Lt. Doug Edwards. “Even the dumb criminals are generally smarter than this.”

It began when police received a call from an Olem man complaining his home had been broken into and a quarter-pound of marijuana stolen.

The burglar had broken a window and apparently cut himself while crawling into the home.

The Orem man told police that a 23-year-old Provo man had called him about buying the marijuana but the deal hadn’t gone through.

Officers tracked the Provo man to his mother’s home where they found 6oz marijuana and a pair of blood-soaked trousers.

The man was arrested and charged with burglary, theft and possession of marijuana with intent to supply.

A New Zealand doctor has upset patients by converting his medical centre into a high class brothel.

Neil Benson says he will employ “beautiful, experienced professional girls” in the up-market bordello which will cater for locals as well as visiting tourists.

The GP closed his Coopers Beach medical centre last year after a dispute with health officials over the lack of financial and community support.

The doctor, who claims “a lot of support from the men in the community”, believes there are similarities between the world’s oldest profession and medicine, reports The Northern Advocate

He said: “It’s about providing a private service and maintaining confidentiality, which is what my medical practice was about - so it’s not a big leap, really.

A gang of thieves used a bitch in heat to distract a guard dog so they could raid a factory in Brazil.

After breaking into the factory in Santa Maria, they put the bitch near the guard dog, reports Zero Hora newspaper.

And while the guard dog was distracted, the gang took £10,000 in cash from the Segalin agricultural products company.

The secretary, who was the first to arrive at the factory, told the police: “When I arrived at the company I saw Zulu, the dog happily chasing after a female dog.”

CCTV footage confirmed the secretary’s suspicions.

A police spokesperson said: “Those are very creative and resourceful thieves, that was a very good idea!”

Nothing was stolen in the raid on a school in Klaebu, reports Aftenposten, quoting Adresseavisen.

AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS — If you can’t beat ‘em … joint ‘em? The City of Amsterdam has begun selling recently introduced “no toking” signs to prevent the official ones from being stolen as collector’s items, a spokesman said Friday.

An alleged burglar was rescued Thursday after he got stuck overnight in the oven vent of the convenience store he was trying to rob, the fire department said.

Investigators said Lonnie Shields, 37, climbed into a small vent on the roof of the New City Mart at about 2 a.m. and wasn’t found until store employees arrived at about 8 a.m.

Shields, who faces charges of burglary of a structure, was treated at a nearby hospital and booked into Orange County Jail on $1,000 bond.

“He was banged up and crunched up and uncomfortable from being in that pipe for about six hours,” Orlando fire chief Greg Hoggatt said.

The 21-year-old registered nurse, unnamed due to German privacy laws, and her two acquaintances were spotted ‘filming sexual acts’ by three Italian tourists in another carriage of the ride.

The Oktoberfest tourists alerted authorities, who detained the nurse and the filmmakers - a 25-year-old student and a 30-year-old teacher.

Munich police released a statement saying: “The trio were spotted in the carriage with filming equipment.

“The 21-year-old suddenly disrobed and produced a sex toy that she began to use while the other two filmed her.”

The three have been charged with public indecency.

A judge who fell for the defendant’s girlfriend is in trouble after offering to put his rival away for a long time.

The 63-year-old justice from Munich, named only as Wolfgang W for legal reasons, sent the 30-year-old woman text messages.

He told her he wanted to bed her after they went out for dinner together during her boyfriend’s robbery trial.

But the woman turned on the judge when he sent her a text saying: “I could lock him up for a long time, so that you can get some peace,” and she showed the messages to her boyfriend’s lawyer.

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - Vandals who broke into and wrecked a northern Mexican primary school over the Christmas holidays were thoughtful enough to leave the photocopied mug shot of one of their gang at the scene of the crime.

Mexican television showed a black-and-white print on Tuesday of the squashed, chubby face and hands of a young boy. The photocopy was made at the school in the northern city of Monterrey and left among smashed chairs and torn books.

Headmistress Maria del Rosario Gomez told Televisa news it was the third time the school had been vandalized, and said some of her own pupils were likely to blame.

A Bosnian pensioner who claims to have been married 162 times has said he wants to marry at least another 100 women.

Nedeljko Ilincic, 75, from Milosevac in Bosnia and Herzegovina, said he first got married when he was 15 and since then it has been “just one wife after another”.

He said he now plans to see if his “feat” is worthy of a place in the Guinness Book of Records.

The former waiter, who has 14 children from different marriages, told local weekly Svet: “I first got married when I was only 15.

“I did it mainly because my parents wanted me to marry a woman named Joka, even though she was 20 years older than me, because her family was rich.

“I soon divorced her though because I didn’t like her and after that it was just one wife after another. I seemed to be getting either married or divorced all the time.

“The length of the marriages was always different, sometimes I’d spend a few years with my wife, other times it would just be a week. I must hold the record though.”

And the former waiter, who is currently single, said that at 75 he had not lost his appetite for marriage.

He said: “I’m still very popular with the ladies. At the moment there are two I could choose from, Janja and Dragica, who are both from Gradacac in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and I’ve heard one of my ex-wives Petra also wants me back.

“I may be getting on a bit, but I’m not ready to give up on love just yet. Another 100 marriages would probably calm me down.”
