Former president Donald Trump has a long history of cashing in on his name and celebrity through licensing agreements, but a limited edition series of “Swiss-made” watches being promoted under his name may have one of the strangest backstories of all. Rather than the glorious Alps, the publicly available corporate records behind the Trump Watch lead closer to the Rockies, a CNN investigation found. The network’s reporters traced the company behind the timepiece, TheBestWatchesOnEarth LLC, to the address of a shopping center in Wyoming. Dozens of other companies, including one hawking Trump-themed sneakers through a Trump-approved licensing agreement, are registered there but there was no sign of the watch firm. The office of Andrew Pierce, the man who is the registered agent for the companies, confirmed it is the registered agent for the firms behind the Trump-endorsed products, but that it acts as a business agent for over 100,000 companies around the world and isn't directly involved in their operations. The Trump campaign didn’t reply to CNN’s questions about who is behind TheBestWatchesOnEarth or if they were vetted by the campaign. Pierce’s father and business partner, Mark Pierce, told CNN he was unaware their clients were involved in Trump business and gave a warning to those who would buy the the priciest model of the Trump Watch, which costs $100,000. “Before spending $100,000 on a watch, they should know who they’re buying it from,” he said.

The back-to-back wallops of Hurricanes Helene and Milton left a cascade of debris floating and stranded across Florida, with cleanup expected to take weeks if not months. One single county, Pinellas, has 60,000 dump trucks’ worth of debris to deal with alone. But at least one resident is making the best of the situation: An alligator was seen sunbathing on a floating bed in Suwannee, in north central Florida, sparking local curiosity and a bit of levity in the wake of some difficult days. “I had just come back from getting lunch... when I saw this gator,” Tracy Kirkpatrick, who photographed the tanning beast in a tranquil state, told the Miami Herald, in a Facebook exchange Wednesday. “We had been wondering whose perfectly made bed had landed in the canal. Well, it was the gator’s water bed.” Another resident, Diane Strickland, said the mattress has been floating “up and down our canals” since Sept. 26, the day Helene made landfall in Florida’s Big Bend region. The Herald noted the fitted sheet and blanket remained neatly made, which the gator seemed respectful of. “It emphasizes the need to make sure your bed is properly made every day as you never know what will happen,” Strickland wrote.

Sheriff’s deputies in Montana are searching for an unidentified killer whose crime was so vicious the original 911 caller thought the victim had been mauled by a bear. Dustin Kjersem, 35, was supposed to spend the weekend camping near Big Sky with a friend, but after he didn’t show up on Friday, the friend went out looking for him, the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office said during a press conference on Wednesday. The next morning, the friend found Kjersem’s body inside a tent at a campsite and called 911 to report what he thought was a fatal bear attack. But an official with the Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks service didn’t see any signs of bear activity, and an autopsy confirmed Kjersem had died of “multiple chop wounds” to the skull and other parts of his body, the sheriff’s office said. Deputies are following multiple leads but haven’t made any arrests, and the department has asked anyone with vehicle, trail or game camera footage to contact the authorities. “People have asked me if there is a threat to this community, and the answer is we don’t know,” Sheriff Dan Springer said, as first reported by the Washington Post. The victim’s sister, Jillian Price, said Kjersem was “a hardworking, skilled tradesman” who framed houses, poured concrete and installed countertops. “He was a loving, helpful and adoring father who in no way deserved this,” she said.

Former Fox News host Gretchen Carlson publicly criticized Bret Baier Wednesday over the way he handled his interview with Vice President Kamala Harris. After Baier’s heated interview with the Democratic nominee, a former Fox News producer questioned his impartiality. “Baier showed, again, he’s not a ‘straight news’ anchor. He’s a hack who’s no different than Hannity or Watters,” the unnamed producer told Zeteo media columnist Justin Baragona, who shared the damning reaction on X. “He bowed to the pressure from his MAGA fans because he doesn’t care as long as they don’t change the channel.” Replying to Baragona’s post, Carlson wrote: “A former Fox News host agrees.” In his own reaction to the interview, Baier complained that he could tell early on “that she was going to be tough to redirect without me trying to interrupt,” saying he had hoped it was “going to be this civil back-and-forth.” Baier did repeatedly interrupt Harris during the sit-down and grilled her along Donald Trump’s favorite lines of attack. Unsurprisingly, Trump congratulated Baier for doing a “great job” with the interview which he viewed as “tough but fair.”

Fox News did not disclose that many of the petitioners at Donald Trump’s all-women town hall event in Georgia on Wednesday were his most fervent supporters, according to a new report. The women, who asked the former president questions on the economy, abortion, transgender women in sports, and IVF, included the president of the Fulton County Republican Women, CNN reported. Another Republican women’s group from Forsyth County posted a video on social media featuring the former president after the event. The report also claimed the Fox broadcast edited out portions of questions where the speakers identified themselves as Trump supporters, citing audio recordings from CNN reporters also in attendance. In a press release announcing the event, Fox only said the event would have “an audience entirely composed of women” to discuss “top issues impacting female voters.” A Fox spokesperson told the Daily Beast that the audience was composed of “over 110 women from a variety of Georgia organizations, including churches and local mom groups.” The station also pointed to at least one attendee who told Fox host Sandra Smith “I'm nobody and I’m not registered with anybody. I found out about this meeting late through a local county Facebook page.”

Donald Trump doubled down on a baseless conspiracy theory about Haitian immigrants he’s latched onto in recent weeks during a Univision Noticias town hall in Doral, Florida on Wednesday, telling Latino voters that he was just parroting what he’d seen on the news. At last month’s presidential debate, Trump aired a false, viral claim that Haitians in Springfield, Ohio had been documented stealing and eating family pets. (Ohio authorities on both the local and state level have repeatedly rebuffed the claims, for which there is no credible evidence.) At the town hall, an undecided voter who identified himself as a registered Republican from Arizona asked Trump whether he really believed in the things about Haitian migrants he’d been saying. “I was just saying what was reported. All I do is report,” Trump replied. “I was there, I’m going to be there and we’re going to take a look.” Despite threats to do so, the former president has not traveled to Springfield this election cycle. City officials have politely asked him to stay away. On Wednesday, he repeated he was “going to take a look” into the nonexistent situation, “and I will give you a full report when I do.” If elected, Trump has vowed to revoke the immigration status of Haitian migrants living legally in the U.S.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. attended the Washington, D.C. memorial service held for his mother, Ethel Kennedy, alongside his wife, actress Cheryl Hines—despite the ongoing fallout from his alleged relationship with reporter Olivia Nuzzi and divorce rumors. In a court filing on Monday, Nuzzi’s ex-fiance, Ryan Lizza, accused the star reporter of “cheating on me with a married man.” The filing from Lizza also claimed this man, presumably RFK Jr., wanted to “possess,” “control,” and “impregnate” her. Despite the rumors and flurry of legal action, RFK and Hines also attended Ethel’s funeral service together in Centerville, Massachusetts on Monday. Ethel was married to former attorney general and Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Sr. before his assassination in 1968, and Wednesday’s event in D.C. was attended by Democratic Party royalty. The service featured remarks from President Joe Biden, former President Barack Obama, former President Bill Clinton, and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. RFK Jr. announced he would seek the presidency as an independent candidate in October 2023. Bill Clinton was one of three U.S. presidents who eulogized the late Ethel Kennedy at her funeral in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, recalling her as a “fireball” who wasn’t above teasing him when they encountered one another. “I thought your mother was the cat’s meow. She would flirt with me in the most innocent ways,” the former president told Ethel’s children. “She was an amazing fireball of continuous energy. It was wonderful to be around her.” Also present to speak were Barack Obama, who called Ethel “a big dose in a small package,” and Joe Biden, who said there was “nothing” she couldn’t accomplish during her lifetime. Ethel, who was widowed in 1968 after her husband, Robert F. Kennedy, was assassinated on the campaign trail, died Oct. 10 at the age of 96. She is survived by nine of the 11 children she and Kennedy shared, as well as 34 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. After her husband’s death, Ethel dedicated her life to social justice. “For over 50 years, Ethel traveled, marched, boycotted, and stood up for human rights around the world with her signature iron will and grace,” Biden said in a statement after her death, calling her “a hero in her own right.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly purchased a new piece of property. The couple, who caused a stir when they ditched England and their royal lives for Southern California in 2020, have reportedly acquired a property in Portugal. The Daily Mail’s Richard Eden broke the news that the couple had expanded their real estate portfolio on Wednesday. While not much is known about the property itself, Eden says the two are likely familiar with the country as they have spent time their with Princess Eugenie, Harry’s cousin, and her husband Jack Brooksbank at their second home in the exclusive CostaTerra Golf and Ocean Club. The two couples remain friendly despite tensions Harry has with his immediate family. Harry and Meghan got a taste for the country during a brief holiday in 2022. This purchase comes almost two years after King Charles asked them to vacate Frogmore Cottage, their former home on the Windsor estate.

Robert Telles, a former Clark County public administrator, has been sentenced to 28 years in prison for stabbing Las Vegas Review-Journal reporter Jeff German to death. German was found dead after publishing stories about mismanagement and bullying at Telles’ office, as well as an article about an alleged affair Telles reportedly had with a staffer. After German’s articles were published in May and June 2022, Telles lost his primary race for a second term in office. German was murdered three months later in Sept. 2022. Telles has maintained his innocence in the two years since the stabbing. However, German’s DNA was found underneath Telles’ fingernails, and the vehicle the suspect was seen fleeing in was parked at Telles’ house. Telles’ defense attorney has said that Telles will be appealing the conviction.

Rachel Yaffe, a TikToker known for sharing her life as she battled cancer, has died at 27. TMZ reported on Wednesday that an obituary confirmed her death on Oct. 11. In her years-long battle with fibrolamellar hepatocellular carcinoma, a form of liver cancer, she frequently took to TikTok to update her followers on her life and ongoing treatment. In her final TikTok, posted on Sept. 1, Yaffe informed her over 55,500 followers that she was back in New York after undergoing radiation treatment that left her feeling weak. “I am working on really just focusing on the small things that bring me joy and really really prioritizing my mental health as well,” she said in the clip. In an April 2023 video, Yaffe explained that she was diagnosed at 20 and had surgery to remove a 20cm tumor. The cancer would later spread to other parts of her body. According to her obituary, she leaves behind her parents, brother, and sister.

A lawsuit that claims a Bay Area Thai restaurant served a San Jose doctor a dish so spicy it scorched her insides is set to go to trial next year. Harjasleen Walia’s vocal cords, esophagus and right nostril were burned by the dish, the suit alleges. “She incurred permanent injuries and will forever be damaged,” the lawsuit claims. The restaurant denied causing injury to Walia, and said that no other customer has ever made a similar complaint. Walia and a friend dined at Coup de Thai in Los Gatos in July 2021 and ordered the Dragon Balls, according to the lawsuit. Dragon Balls are described as a “spicy chicken ball” on Coup de Thai’s website. The lawsuit alleges Walia asked her server to make the dish less spicy, but a new employee accidentally added more peppers. The lawsuit claims the Thai bird’s eye chili peppers are the ingredient that makes the Dragon Balls “unfit for human consumption.” Bird’s eye chili peppers are about as spicy as the mildest habanero peppers, which is 20 to 40 times hotter than jalapeño peppers. A National Poison Control Center doctor interviewed by The Mercury News said that while Thai chilies can irritate the mouth and throat and cause nausea and heartburn, they don’t cause “permanent tissue damage.”

Tough times for Ted Cruz: The Texas senator says he’s being “massively outspent” by his Democratic opponent, Colin Allred, and the Republican Party doesn’t even seem to care. “Mitch McConnell runs the largest Republican super PAC in the country and has $400 million,” Cruz complained to Fox News host Mark Levin. “But that super PAC is used to reward the Republican senators who obey him and to punish those who dare to stand up him.” Cruz—who asked Levin’s viewers for cash—is referring to the Senate Leadership Fund, which just warned in a memo that Cruz’s lead over Allred had slipped from 3 to 1 percent between mid-September and Oct. 1. The memo attributes the trend to spending and general likability, two areas where Allred has Cruz squarely beat. Whereas Allred’s campaign says it has raised more than $30 million since July, Cruz’s is reportedly lagging roughly $9 million behind; indeed, he told Levin, he wasn’t even able to buy TV ad space until a couple of weeks ago. But Allred, a former NFL player, also netted a 48/36 favorability split, versus Cruz’s 49/48 favorable/unfavorable rating. Hmm.

Big Chip has capitulated to the public will, with several brands agreeing to put more product in select bags. CNN reports that, amid complaints about companies charging higher prices for smaller sizes, PepsiCo—which owns Lay’s, Ruffles, Doritos, and Tostitos—will sell “bonus bags” with 20 percent more chips than standard bags, for the same price. It will also add two extra bags to its single-serving variety pack. According to CNN, PepsiCo CEO Ramon Laguarta attributed the concession to “football season” during a recent earnings call, but the move also mitigates a recent trend toward “shrinkflation,” through which companies quietly raise the price per unit on familiar items, leading to consumer angst. In short, it's “charging more and more for less and less,” as President Joe Biden put it in this year’s State of the Union address: “The snack companies think you won’t notice if they change the size of the bag and put a hell of a lot fewer—same size bag—put fewer chips in it.” Well, America noticed, PepsiCo’s snack sales declined (1 percent last quarter, per CNN), and now we get several more chips in certain bags. Pope Francis will become the first-ever sitting pope to publish a book. Publisher Penguin Random House announced Wednesday that Francis’ autobiography will be published early next year in January instead of upon his death as originally planned. Titled Hope, Francis has reportedly been working on the book for the last six years with Italian publisher Carlo Musso. In addition to recounting his upbringing, Italian roots and how his ancestors immigrated to Latin America, Hope will also cover his adult life, his vocation, adult life and calling to the papacy. According to Penguin Random House, the book arrives just in time to celebrate the 2025 Jubilee—a time dedicated to forgiveness, renewal and spirituality. “In recounting his memories with intimate narrative force and reflecting on his own personal passions, Pope Francis deals unsparingly with some of the crucial moments of his papacy and writes candidly, courageously, and prophetically about some of the most important and controversial questions of our present times,” said Penguin Random House in a statement. “In every page, in every passage, it is also the book of those who have travelled with me, of those who came before, of those who will follow,” said Pope Francis about the project. “An autobiography is not our own private story, but rather the baggage we carry with us. And memory is not just what we recall, but what surrounds us. It doesn’t speak only about what has been, but about what will be.”

The ex-husband of Real Housewives of New Jersey star Dina Manzo was hit with a seven-year prison sentence Tuesday after hiring a mobster, known as a “made man” within an Italian-American Mafia crime family, to attack her boyfriend. On top of his prison sentence, Thomas Manzo will also have to serve three years supervised release, according to the Associated Press. The 59-year-old was convicted in June by a federal jury of of conspiracy, falsifying and concealing documents, and committing a violent crime in aid of racketeering activity. Thomas Manzo hired John Perna to beat his ex-wife’s boyfriend in July 2015. Perna eventually carried out the attack with a “slap jack” in a strip mall, according to WKXW, and agreed to the attack under terms that Manzo pay for his lavish wedding reception, which was held the month after the attack. Perna later pleaded guilty in December 2020 to committing a violent crime in aid of racketeering activity and was handed down a 2-and-a-half year sentence. He was released in August 2023. “Because at the end of the day, the right people fight for you,” Dina posted to her Instagram Story on Tuesday, quoting from writer Bianca Sparacino. The post, however, came with no context. “The right people show up. The right people care, not only when life is convenient, but when it is difficult and messy and it aches all over.”

Beleaguered Bad Boy Records founder Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs once put a member of his son’s coaching staff at UCLA in a headlock, the Los Angeles Times reported on Tuesday citing documents from the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. Diddy was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after the widely publicized brawl with a former UCLA coach took place at the Acosta Athletic Training Complex in 2015, but the record producer never faced criminal charges. The charge evaluation worksheet obtained by the Times alleges Diddy put one staff member in a headlock and briefly choked an intern during the fight. The two were left with “minor scratches,” according to the documents. Diddy also allegedly swung a kettlebell at a staffer, according to reports from 2015. Diddy was referred to the City Attorney’s Office for possible misdemeanor charges, but instead he was handled by an informal city attorney’s hearing, the office told the Times. No further details about the hearing were made public. At the time, Diddy insisted the fight was in self-defense. “Two different prosecutorial agencies looked at it and both declined to prosecute,” the mogul’s former lawyer told the Times.

Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign on Tuesday dismissed as “desperate” a conservative activist’s accusations that she plagiarized passages in a book she co-authored more than a decade ago. Christopher Rufo claimed that five sections of 2009’s Smart on Crime were lifted from other sources—extracts that totaled about 500 words across a 66,500-word, 200-page book. The New York Times and The Washington Post subsequently reported that the allegations concerned statistics or verbatim language from other sources used without quotation marks, but that most of those sources were correctly cited in footnotes or the sources section of the book. Jonathan Bailey, a plagiarism consultant, told the Post that the errors were “sloppy” and “bad” but did not amount to the “malicious plagiarism” that Rufo seemed to be alleging. He added to the Times that the allegations amounted “to an error and not an intent to defraud.” In a statement to the Daily Beast, campaign spokesman James Singer said, “Rightwing operatives are getting desperate as they see the bipartisan coalition of support Vice President Harris is building to win this election, as Trump retreats to a conservative echo chamber refusing to face questions about his lies. This is a book that’s been out for 15 years, and the Vice President clearly cited sources and statistics in footnotes and endnotes throughout.”

A controversial adviser for Donald Trump labeled the former president’s fiery live Bloomberg interview at the Economic Club of Chicago Tuesday as the greatest of all time—despite numerous reports which labelled the appearance a “mess” and “catastrophic.” At the event, Bloomberg editor-in-chief John Micklethwait clashed with Trump on a number of topics, including tarriffs and the former president’s relationship with Vladimir Putin. Trump largely refused to answer questions directly, instead redirecting the conversation to his favorite campaign speech fodder. When quizzed about a peaceful transfer of power if he lost the upcoming election, Trump instead brashly claimed, “Well, you had a peaceful transfer of power”—an apparent reference to the events of Jan. 6, 2021 and their aftermath. Despite the criticism, Trump Senior Advisor Stephen Miller bragged: “Trump’s Bloomberg interview at the Economic Club of Chicago was the greatest live interview any political leader or politician has done on the economy in our lifetimes. Period.” Meanwhile the Trump campaign described it a “master class” by the former president, adding he succeeded in “outlining his plan to return American citizens and businesses to the successes they enjoyed during his first term.”

David Duke, an antisemitic white supremacist and former head of the Ku Klux Klan who endorsed Donald Trump in 2016 and 2020, instead threw his support behind Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein on Monday. Stein, who is Jewish, rejected Duke’s support after the former American Nazi Party member said on his radio show that she is the “only candidate who speaks clearly against the War in the Middle East” and against Israel’s “genocide” in Palestine. In criticizing Trump’s “subservience to Israel and to the Jewish lobby,” the former KKK leader said his endorsement revolved around “what’s good for white people—Europeans” and called the move “one of the most important statements that I have ever made politically.” Stein’s campaign manager, Jason Call, disavowed Duke’s backing in a statement to NBC News, calling him “trash,” adding: "We had no idea about this and are very, very not interested in David Duke's endorsement.”

The U.S. Department of Agriculture will investigate the listeria outbreak from Boar’s Head deli meats that has killed at least 10 people across the country, according to Sen. Richard Blumenthal. The senator, who first called for an investigation more than a month ago, confirmed this “vital first step” in a news release on Tuesday. At least 59 people have been hospitalized across 19 states since the outbreak was first reported, according to the Centers for Disease Control’s most recent data. Records from the company’s plant in Virginia detailed dozens of cases of “noncompliance,” the Associated Press reported, including buildup of mold and insects on the ceilings and meat and fat residue on the facility’s floors and machinery. “USDA took virtually no action—allowing Boar’s Head to continue business as usual at its chronically unsanitary Virginia plant—despite finding repeated serious violations,” Blumenthal said in a statement. “The Virginia plant should have been shut down years ago before people got sick or died from Listeria.” Blumenthal also called on the Justice Department to work with the USDA to look into criminal charges for the company.

Donald Trump is reportedly gearing up for a new gig as a McDonald’s fry cook. News of the fast food lover’s new gig was first reported by CNN’s Kristen Holmes, who shared on X that a source gave the network the deep-fried scoop. “Former President Donald Trump is expected to visit a McDonald’s Sunday in Pennsylvania and “work the fry cooker,” the source familiar with the matter told CNN. “Trump has repeatedly claimed Vice President Kamala Harris never actually worked at McDonald’s,” Holmes wrote on the platform. Just last month, Trump questioned her employment at the fast food chain during rallies in Arizona and Pennsylvania. It was at the latter that he first mentioned that he’d like to “work the french fry job for about a half an hour.” Following the fast food frenzy, Steven Cheung, a Trump campaign spokesperson, asked the Daily Beast why Harris’ campaign wouldn’t pony up evidence that she worked there. In her own statement, the vice president maintained that she worked at one of their California locations in the 1980s.
