This week I talk with challenged athlete Paul Martin.&amp;nbsp; His leg was   amputated eight inches below the knee after a car accident.&amp;nbsp; Paul has   over come this tragedy in his life and feels it has made him a better   person and athlete.&lt;br /&gt;

Paul has completed 10 Ironman races and has a new book  the just debuted at number one in  the sports biography category on  Amazon.&lt;br /&gt;

He  has won 9 National Elite British Championships.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;div&gt;Rich did his first triathlon at 17 and went pro at 18. He competed  for 15 years and then retired in 2006. In 2009, Rich decided to come out  of retirement following the sad death of a young girl name Ellis  Harriet. Ellis lost hear battle to cancer and has inspired Rich to train  and race again at the highest level to help raise awareness and money  for her charity. &lt;a href="http://www.ellisharrietclark.org/"&gt;http://www.ellisharrietclark.org&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;

My last race was Ironman Arizona in November of 2008, so I figured I deserved some new stuff. I ended up with two new tri tops, two new tri shorts and a new aero helmet!  I picked the color orange because I plan to have the &lt;a href="http://podcast.tritopics.com/"&gt;TriTopics &lt;/a&gt;logos put on them.&lt;br /&gt;

Ironman Texas will take place in Houston on May 21st, 2011.   Registration opens on June 25th.&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;b&gt;USA Triathlon adopts new wetsuit rule starting 2013&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
Beginning January 1th, 2013, any competitor wearing a wetsuit with any  part measuring greater than 5 millimeters will be disqualified. Very few  wetsuits are actually over 5 millimeters, so this should be an issue  for too many people.&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;b&gt;Ironman now has an official cereal&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
Wheaties FUEL was chosen as the official cereal of the Ironman Triathlon  for its ability to provide professional and aspiring Ironman athletes  with the energy-delivering nutrients needed to reach the highest levels  of athletic performance. Competitor Group, the creators of the Rock N’ Roll Marathon announced in  April the new TriRock Sprint Triathlon series that was originally  suppose to take place in Dallas, Vancouver and Orlando has chosen to  scale back the series and only host the event in San Diego which was a  date only added in May.  The race will take place on September 12, 2010,  at Embarcadero Marina Park South.  The race will expand in 2011 to  Dallas &amp;amp; Orlando.&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;br /&gt;
This weekend was a very productive training weekend for me.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;b&gt;On Saturday&lt;/b&gt; I ran my long run of 8 miles in heart rate zone 2.&amp;nbsp; The run was slow, but I felt really good.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;b&gt;On Sunday&lt;/b&gt; I did a brick workout with a hilly ride through Santiago Canyon followed by a&amp;nbsp; hilly 3 mile run through Peter's Canyon.&amp;nbsp; The weather was amazing.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;b&gt;Today (Monday)&lt;/b&gt;&amp;nbsp; I meet my buddy Dave and his wife at my community pool.&amp;nbsp; Dave did a 2200 yard workout while I swam the first 50 yards with him and then spent the rest of the time working with his wife on her technique.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
This afternoon I ran a 3 mile time trail up at the high school track.&amp;nbsp; The run was a killer, but I pulled off 6:50's per mile which was a big surprise.&amp;nbsp; I am feeling more and more confident in my run.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
