This December weekday, Raad Yousif pulls into a subdivision filled with blocky pueblo-inspired homes. The stark, deserted landscaping reminds him of the surrounding desert.

The 31-year old Iraqi immigrant is familiar with the area. He started his career in the city as an airport janitor, just five minutes away. His passion is now flipping houses. And he’s quite good at it. He estimates that he earned $200,000 by buying and selling them during the two-year housing boom that was fueled by the pandemic.

It turned out that the snake-bit Toronto defenceman was right.

As part of a second period outburst, Rielly finally found the backside of the net on Sunday. LeafsCelebrate the 5-1 victory over the Washington Capitals visitors 1,000th NHL regular-season game inThe career of captain John Tavares

“It is important to us to play well Johnny,” Rielly stated. “He has worked extremely hard.” inHis career was to reach this point.”

Toronto hosted its annual Easter Seals charity skating Saturday afternoon. Some of the children on the ice at this fan-friendly event asked Rielly when he would open his 2022-23 account.

“Tomorrow Night, evidently,” he recalled telling them.

Rielly smiled wryly when he was asked about the exchange that occurred after he had finally broken his goose egg.

He said, “I wouldn’t call it a guarantee.” “It was more of an optimistic guess.”

Washington was answered by Nicklas Backstrom (26-20-6). Charlie Lindgren replaced Darcy Kuemper, who allowed four goals on 20 shots. For a team that allowed only four goals, the Capitals backup had six stops. inThe middle period is short and only has one regulation victory inIts last eight.

Only eight players are in the long history of men’s tennis have won a total of ten or more major titles. NovakDjokovic is, naturally, one of them. At a Sunday event in Melbourne, Djokovic was the Australian Open, he won his twenty-second major—his tenth on one court, Rod Laver Arena, theMelbourne Park, main show court That victory—6–3, 7–6(4), 7–6(5), over Stefanos Tsitsipas—ties him with Rafael Nadal for theMost Grand Slam wins by any player the men’s game. Philippe-Chatrier is where Nadal has also earned a significant portion of his major titles. theThe center court the Stade Roland Garros, in Paris—thirteen French OpenThese championships were as impressive a run of success in tennis as anything else. Professional tennis is a remarkable achievement. the OpenThis era, which began in 1968, is now mostly played on hard courts. the men’s tour have mostly built games—big serves, big forehands—to win on hard surfaces. There has never been a player of this era who has created a hard-court match for Djokovic. At the trophy ceremony following Sunday’s championship final, Tsitsipas said of Djokovic, “He is the greatest that has ever held a tennis racquet.” That’s a debate starter. It is clear that he plays more intelligent, consistent tennis with fewer weaknesses than anyone who has ever set foot on a harder surface.

There was little dazzle to Djokovic’s straight-set win over Tsitsipas, which, among other things, raised his ranking to, once again, No. Djokovic is currently No. 1. the world. (He displaces theCarlos Alcaraz is a young Spaniard who was hurt and had to leave. the Australian Open.) Djokovic’s triumph is, more often than others, a tedious grind and an exercise in inevitability. That’s what Tsitsipas endured. The tone theIn the first minute of play, match was established. Djokovic won comfortably the first two times he served—his serving throughout the tournament was superb, and, in turn, he put relentless pressure on Tsitsipas’s serve—and he earned two break points (but failed to convert them) the first time Tsitsipas served. Djokovic took a break in the second of Tsitsipas’s service games on a double fault, after Tsitsipas went for too much in an effort to ward off a crushing Djokovic return. With his unfailing return game, how often has Djokovic managed to coax such an error from an opponent before? He was able to get it just the way he wanted. theFirst set.

It was a great place to be! theMatch took place in theTiebreaks that ended thesecond and third sets. In both of them, Djokovic established early leads but tightened up—the crowd support for Tsitsipas from Melbourne’s sizable Greek community seemed to get to him, especially in that first tiebreak—and let Tsitsipas back in. The reason Djokovic won both tiebreaks was mainly due to Tsitsipas’s forehand mistakes. Tsitsipas’s best shot is his forehand, a long, flowing, often punishing one that is among the best in the game. Djokovic tested it from, which is quite interesting. theOpening Moments of the match—sending ball after ball toward Tsitsipas’s forehand wing, varying pace, height, spin, and depth, drawing surprising errors even in routine mid-court rallies, and, perhaps, wearing down Tsitsipas’s confidence in theshot of which he is the most confident. In theTsitsipas had two forehands that were too long and another one in the second set tiebreak. In set three, with Djokovic serving at 6–5 in the tiebreak—championship point—he drove a forehand to Tsitsipas’s forehand corner, and Tsitsipas, on theStretch, one last forehand lang. Methodical. Inevitable.

Djokovic’s two weeks in Melbourne were not without drama, or melodrama. Djokovic had previously pulled his left hamstring during a tune-up match. the Australian OpenDuring much of his run, he also ran to theIn Melbourne’s championship, he played with a taped lower thigh that he continued to rub and stretch during matches. There were many questions, as there have been before. the true extent of Djokovic’s soreness or injury; as has happened before, he chose to lash out at those doubting that he was hurt: “Only my injuries are questioned. When some other players are injured, then they are the victims, but when it is me, I am faking it.”

Then, late last week, a video emerged of Djokovic’s father, Srdjan, celebrating a quarterfinal Djokovic victory Wednesday night with fans on the Australian Open grounds. Fans draped in Serbian flags and men wearing T-shirts with Russian flags were also present. the “Z”The symbol, first hand-painted on Russian tanks in 1917 theStart at the invasion of Ukraine and has since become a symbol of support for Russia’s devastating war. Russia and Serbia are both Slavic countries with strong cultural and political ties. Vladimir Putin and his war enjoy strong support from the Serbs. Australian OpenOfficials had banned theDisplay of Russian and Belarusian flags. (Russian- and Belarusian players weren’t identified by their countries. theCase for all tennis tournaments the invasion.) Ukraine’s ambassador to Australia wanted Srdjan stripped of his Australian Open accreditation. Srdjan said that it was all a misunderstanding, and he stayed away from his son’s player’s box for his semifinal and the final. (Among theDjokovic fans who attended the final was one who waved a skull-and-crossbones Chetnik flag—once theFlag of anti-Axis Serbs-underground partisans. theflag of ultranationalist proponents for an expanded Christian Orthodox Greater Serbia. Maybe it’s time for tournaments to ban all flags.)

Both theSore hamstring the reaction to his father’s behavior weighed on Djokovic, as he related in his press conference following the final. The same happened in Melbourne last year. He’d irked, and provided political fodder for, the AustralianGovernment by arriving the OpenHe refused to have a COVID-19 vaccine and continued refusing to receive one. He was eventually deported after it became an international disaster. theThe tournament began. He was welcomed back to Melbourne by a new government. Was there any anxiety about his return? He arrived with that wounded sense that he appears to have at times? thesense of being ignored, slighted? This, in turn, fuelled his commanding performance during the past two weeks? He sobbed uncontrollably in his player’s box after his victory on Sunday. I’ve seen a lot of Novak Djokovic, but I’ve never seen that. Maybe even he can’t know what he was releasing there.

He also cannot know what theRest of theSeason holds for him. To enter the country, foreign nationals must be immunized against COVID. theUnited States. This means that he can’t play Indian Wells until March if he isn’t vaccinated. the Miami OpenTwo of them the tour’s biggest hard-court events. And, unless there’s a change before midsummer, he’ll be barred from Cincinnati, another significant American hard-court tourney, and also the U.S. OpenIt has hard courts. The world’s best hard-court player, with, at age thirty-five, much more tennis behind him than before him, may not set foot on all that many hard courts in 2023. The drama, it seems, if not Djokovic’s hard-court brilliance, will, in theIn the coming months, keep checking back. ♦

“20 years [after my first acting gig on All My Children], I just directed my very first movie, Creed III. But, right after that I went through my very first public breakup,” the Fruitvale Station actor, 35, said during his Saturday, January 28, monologue, referring to the model, 25. “Now, most people after a breakup are like, ‘I’m gonna get in better shape.’ But, I was already in Creed shape! So, I had to be like, ‘Alright, I guess I’ll learn a new language.’ Anyway, estoy en Raya.”

He continued: “After the breakup, everyone thought I was so heartbroken because when the news came out, I was at a basketball game and they caught me looking [disappointed]. Look, I was just chilling but the Internet decided that was me being sad. Lucky for me, if you Google ‘Sad Michael Jordan’ the first 8,000 results are [of the basketball star crying].”

“Hey, Michael, I didn’t even know you were out here. I was just taking a walk around the studio, and I just threw this on,”Nwodim, 34 years old, said nonchalantly Saturday that she was referring to the veil and bridal gown that she wore. “Oh my God, is this a wedding dress? I guess we could technically get married now then, huh?”

After Jordan — who was joined on the show by musical guest Lil Baby — informed her “that’s not how”Marriage works, but the comic had other ideas.

“Oh, our first fight. Should we have make-up sex?”Nwodim were eager to be included.

Before stepping on the NBC stage on Saturday, the Black Panther II: Wakanda Forever star jokingly struggled to shed his Creed boxing training.

“It’s muscle memory,” Jordan joked in his SNL promo after stage-punching cast member Marcello HernandezIn the nose — twice. “Yeah, it’s broken.”

Hernandez, 25, who joined SNL earlier this season, was terrified because he “can’t have a broken nose.” He explained: “I’m known for my looks, not my talent.”

Jordan responded: “I know how that feels. We’re good though, right?”

After the comedian assured the Black Panther star that they were cool, and the human resources department did not need to know, JordanHe was disappointed in his own self. “Don’t ever embarrass me like that again,”He sipped from his fist.

The Friday Night Lights alum — who plays boxer Adonis Creed in the Creed film franchise — has an impressive workout regimen to stay in shape for the Rocky spinoffs and other projects.

“It’s his ability to not quit and push harder. A lot of people who [are] under the stress of getting ready for movies have to deal with day-to-day life and businesses,”Personal trainer Corey Calliet exclusively told Us Weekly in April 2021 of working with the Journal for Jordan actor. “They have the leisure of not going as hard. Michael is the opposite. When it’s time for us to lock in and get it done, it’s like a machine and he does it all.”

He continued to do so: “He would come in, it’d be two, three o’clock in the morning, he’d want to go to the gym and train. [It’s] very impressive because you don’t see that all the time when it comes to like different actors. … We have to do more things that [are] more condition-based, more things cardiovascular style to get him in shape because he only had his shirt off for one scene, so it was mostly important that he can be able to deliver the scenes and look like he needed to look, you know, throughout the movie.”

Jordan has since been gearing up for his anticipated Creed III film follow-up, which is slated for a theatrical release late this year. The new movie will mark the Parenthood alum’s directorial debut.

“This is the hardest thing I’ve ever done, by far. It’s a learning curve,” he told MovieMaker magazine in a cover story published earlier this month. “This is the first time I’m going through this, so every day I’m learning something new. Every day you’re finding new limits. Limitations in terms of f—king bandwidth, limitations on thought, limitations on patience, on decision making, decisiveness — limitations on pure bodily strength to get up in the morning and do it every day.”

Some followers didn’t approve of the agency destroying these weapons. They wanted to know whether it was okay. “anti-gun rhetoric” was really necessary and why the agency didn’t auction the guns off or sell them to raise money. But CPW later clarified that those weren’t options under state law.

“By law, we have two options with confiscated firearms. If they match the needs of our agency or another law enforcement agency, we can recycle them. Otherwise, we must destroy them,”CPW SE Region writes. “It’s not often we confiscate the exact model, caliber, etc., firearm we can use.”

HBO Max’s latest entry into the Scooby-Doo canon, Velma, has the kind of pedigree that usually signals hit. Mindy Kaling, a veteran TV producer and voice actor, executive produced the show. the animated series’ title character, it’s a show about one of pop culture’s most beloved nerds. Like Riverdale before it, Velma also takes a kids’ entertainment staple and gives it a new, winkingly adult twist. Despite all that, Velma has a lot going for her. theshow is still a popular medium. the internet’s new favorite punching bag.

Tweets knock the show’s attempts at edgy humor mocking theCulture wars. Parodies take aim at its plot lines. Forbes has made a name for itself in dramatic chronicling the backlash: Showrunner Charlie Grandy, “a frequent collaborator of Kaling’s”And “the son of a former Love Boat star,”It seems that “been accused of being a ‘nepotism’ case,” one post declared. It was put succinctly by another. “Everyone Hates Velma.”

As is usual, it’s difficult to know the full truth about this fallout. Despite thePeople are watching the vitriol the show; according to HBO Max, Velma was its biggest animated series premiere ever. Problem is, they’re watching it through theLens of theComplete history of Velma theThe Scooby-Doo franchise in its entirety.

For one, Velma opted for color-blind casting, with its title character now being a South Asian woman. Another reason is that this Velma is more outwardly queer. However, it is not difficult to draw backlash against. theShow to the usual racism and/or homophobia that tends to accompany this kind of thing—and there’s likely still a bit of that in play here—what’s going on with Velma runs deeper than that.

One of the most resentful things about the show seem not to be that it’s addressing issues of diversity in theMystery Inc. gang but rather that theIt is done in a flat and one-note way. And when it comes to Velma’s sexuality—something that’s been a topic of discussion in Scooby-Doo discourse for years—any attempt to address the matter needs depth.

Through various Scooby-Doo properties, it has been for decades theWriters behind theCharacters have suggested that Velma might be gay. In her earliest versions, she was queer-coded. James Gunn wrote two Scooby-Doo live-action movies. theVelma was claimed to have been alive in the 2000s. “explicitly gay”In his 2001 initial script. “But the studio just kept watering it down and watering it down, becoming ambiguous (the version shot), then nothing (the released version), and finally having a boyfriend (the sequel).”Tony Cervone, a supervising Producer during Pride month 2020, was on hand the animated series Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated posted on Instagram that his Velma was “not bi. She’s gay.”

But Velma’s sexuality in Mystery Incorporated, which aired from 2010 to 2013, was only ever hinted at. Late last year, however, in the animated movie Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo!, theSubtext became text: Velma had an affair with a female villain and theInternet loved it. As The Washington Post reported, a teenager from Ontario was one of theSpot first the confirmation, and her gushing tweet promptly went viral: “OMG LESBIAN VELMA FINALLY CANON CANON IN THE MOVIES LETS GOOOOOO.”

You couldn’t blame Velma Dinkley fans for feeling that, through sheer joy and encouragement, they’d helped make the character’s sexuality part of theScooby story. Effectively, theCharacter became a meme theThe meme was born the character. In Trick or Treat Scooby Doo!, she was finally what her online fanbase wanted her to be.

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Donald TrumpPublic campaigning resumed Saturday withRecurrent attacks on long-standing targets include President Joe Biden, 2020 elections, federal and state prosecutors, as well as a growing list of Republican foes.

“We will do it again,” TrumpWhen introducing his new book, he spoke to his supporters “South Carolina Leadership Team”during an event held at the statehouse inColumbia, capping a day-long trip that also included him in Columbia to NewHampshire; both states host early primaries inThe 2024 presidential election.

In an earlier speech toMembers of the NewHampshire Republican Party Trump said: “So, we’re here and we start, we begin.”

The trip comes after more than two months of political turmoil for TrumpFollowing his mid-November announcement, he has a 2024 campaign. A growing number of Republicans believe that the former president will not win next year, and the party should search for another standard-bearer.

“We want the best candidate normal,” New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu spoke to NBC News inThe days gone by Trump’s visit.

Among TrumpRenewing’s themes campaign:

Biden: Target

In long, rambling speeches inBoth South Carolina as NewHampshire that bounced back quickly from the topic to topic, Trump berated Biden and other Democrats as “radical” leftists who have pursued bad policies.

The Trump rollout:Donald TrumpPlans campaign stops targeting Republican opponents – and prosecutors

Polls, polls, polls:TrumpTrails DeSantis inPossible 2024 matchup in NewHampshire is the first primary

Trump criticized the president over border security, military aid to Ukraine, election rules, drug trafficking, education, energy, military policy and son Hunter Biden’s business practices.

While praising Biden’s presidency the ex-president made false claims regarding the administration of 2020 elections, despite the lack of evidence about voter fraud.

Biden and his aides say that they aren’t concerned about the possibility of Biden running again against him. TrumpHe noted that they had defeated him in 2020.

Democrats mocked Trump’s events. Trav Robertson Jr., South Carolina Democratic Party Chair, noted that the former governor. Nikki Haley of South Carolina and maybe Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., might challenge TrumpHe said that he was from the state “is sure to be ground zero for MAGA Republicans’ race for the MAGA base as they push for increasingly extreme abortion bans and tax giveaways to their special interest donors.”

Target: Prosecutors

Some Republicans wonder if TrumpWhile under criminal indictment, will soon be campaigning. TrumpHe has braced supporters by claiming law enforcement officers are biased against him.

Prosecutors inAtlanta and Washington, D.C. are both under investigation Trump over efforts toHis 2020 election loss will be overturned toBiden and activities that led toThe attempted insurrection on the U.S. Capitol, Jan. 20, 2021. Another investigation is underway TrumpHandling classified material

This is the last item. TrumpNoted to supporters inBiden’s Saturday speeches revealed that he had recently improperly turned over classified documents inHis possession.

One difference between the cases: TrumpHe was accused of obstruction of justice for refusing to cooperate with the police to turn over documents toThe National Archives. This refusal was the catalyst toThe highly publicized search for his Mar-a-Lago house in South Florida, another subject of Trump”Standing stump speeches” in NewHampshire and South Carolina

All these investigations:Jan. 6 Capitol Attack 2 years later TrumpMultiple investigations continue to plague the area.

Atlanta Case:Make decisions in TrumpGeorgia election probe are imminent’ but no report yet. Takeaways

Target: Other Republicans

Prominent Republicans may consider runs against Trump, including Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis TrumpMike Pence, Mike’s former vice-president. Other possibilities TrumpOpponents reside inThe states he visited on Saturday: Haley, current New Hampshire governor Sununu.

TrumpWhile he didn’t single out potential opponents in his speeches, he did criticize the Republican field as a whole. He noted that no other Republican challenged his candidacy. in 2020, Trump in NewHampshire said that “I don’t think we have any competition this time.” toBe honest

Polls are still being conducted a year before primaries. TrumpAnd his place inThe Republican Party.

Just a few days ago Trump”Stay on the Road” to NewHampshire University NewHampshire poll shows him trailing DeSantis double-digitally, 42% to 30%.

In the meantime, NewHampshire Journal/Coefficient poll TrumpThe Florida governor was 37%-26% ahead. That same poll also found that the Florida governor was ahead by 37%-26%. toChoose from Trump43% of the respondents went with “someone else” withWhile 42% of the population went, the ex-president was withThe alternative.

Two months of turmoil

The full-day trip toTwo states that are early-primary come more than two months later TrumpHe announced his 2024 presidential candidacy campaign.

Those two months have also featured a bevy of political problems.

Some Republicans blamed TrumpWe are sorry for the party’s poor showing inThe 2022 congressional elections included a failure toControl of the U.S. Senate. Other Republicans cite the many criminal investigations hovering around the former president.

TrumpHe also received heat for hosting a November dinner that featured anti-Semitic rapper Ye as well as white nationalist Nick Fuentes.

Different types of events

TrumpIt has not yet toSchedule one of the massive political rallies that fuelled his presidential campaigns in2016 and 2020

He went to more traditional forms of campaigning on Saturday withThe keynote address at the winter meeting NewHampshire Republican Party, and the event at statehouse in Columbia, S.C.

Rally discussions during the New Hampshire event, Trump told supporters: “We’re going toThese should be done immediately.

South Carolina GOP skepticism

Katon Dawson, an ex-chairman of the South Carolina Republican Party, stated that party members were responsible for this decision. inHis state is looking for alternative solutions to Trump. Many people hope that Haley will jump into the race.

“They believe it’s time to move on to the next generation.” toDawson did not attend, but said “Step Up.” Trump event.

Dawson stated TrumpWill still be a formidable candidate in 2024. The ex-president is likely to retain a strong base, which could add up. toThe vote is valid for 35%-36% toYou will win the primary withThere are four to five additional candidates who could help split the anti-Trump vote.

“As long as there aren’t runoffs in presidential primaries, all TrumpA crowded primary is not a good place for your needs inDawson said that the first ten were “the best.”
