Mayhem Festival comes to Dallas this August.

Let your dogs roam the Cotton Bowl Stadium this May!

Tails will be a wagging when the sixth annual Dog Bowl takes over Cotton Bowl Stadium at Fair Park in Dallas.  Fun festivities for your favorite four-legged friends will get underway from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 6.  Expect this day to be an especially exciting one with lots of escapades in store.

The Dog Bowl offers canines of all breeds and sizes the chance to play and meet new friends.  They’ll be able to run unleashed on the city’s most famous field and will find many nice distractions along the way including an animal-only agility course, misting tents, splash pools, and yummy treats.

Humans have plenty to do, as well, with an array of activities planned from a pet/owner lookalike contest to refreshments and booths with trainers and veterinarians on hand to answer any care questions.  Exhibitors will also include local pet product companies so you can stock up on original items that will delight your dog.

Admission is free, but the City of Dallas charges $10 for parking within the gates of Fair Park.  Mark your calendars and make sure to come out for the sixth annual Dog Bowl.  It’s going to be a good one!

When springtime comes around in Dallas, art lovers in the city hit the streets.  For example, at Art Walks, you can walk through galleries and check out a multitude of art, and it’s a good way to see a lot of museums and galleries in one day.

• Deep Ellum Art Walk happens in Deep Ellum, near your Dallas apartment.  Enjoy food and drinks while you stroll through galleries for free.  Check out art ranging from paintings to sculptures and buy something if the mood strikes.  This event typically takes place in the spring and in the fall.
• Public ArtWalk Dallas is also free, and leads art lovers on a three-mile walk in the arts district in downtown Dallas.  Close to your Dallas apartment, this self-guided walk is a treat for culture lovers, and you can take it anytime.  Download a map to ensure you don’t miss anything on your walk.  This is a perfect way to spend a day if you don’t have a lot of cash but want to get out of your Dallas apartment for an afternoon.
• Spring Gallery Walk is sponsored by the Dallas Art Dealers Association.  Check out 40 galleries full of art, see special exhibits and ask docents your questions as you go through the walk.  This event is coming up soon on April 21, 2-8 p.m.!

You'll be able to get Texas favorites to go soon at Becks Prime.

Becks Prime, a fast food restaurant with a gourmet twist, is opening in Dallas this summer.  The restaurant will be located at Preston and Forest, close to your Dallas apartment.

Becks is a chain that originated in Houston.  The menu includes fare such as hamburgers and hot dogs, and the vast menu of sides and a la carte items includes salads, baked potatoes, fries, queso and chips, and chili.  You can even get a $30 steak at this Texas drive thru.

The menu is varied and even includes a veggie burger for the non-carnivores.  Hot plates with chicken, tuna or steak are also available, and the prices are moderate at this eatery near your Dallas apartment.

Becks Prime even made the Texas Monthly list of The Best Fifty Burgers in Texas.  The restaurant came in at number nine with its famed Bacon Cheeseburger.  This well-known burger place is a great addition to Dallas and a good reason to leave your Dallas apartment and venture out for dinner.

Some say Dallas doesn’t need another burger joint, but once they try Becks Prime they will probably eat those words along with a cheeseburger.  Opening dates have not been officially set, but look forward to seeing the eatery open its doors sometime this summer.

You’ll find this new location less than 15 minutes away on Forest Lane, but for days when you just can’t muster up the energy to head out, don’t forget you’ve got burgers and more right at the onsite restaurant at The Village Country Club!
