July 28-30, 2017 | Washington, D.C.

No Fear ~ No Shame ~ No Hiding -
Just Celebrating Our Truth

ABOUT THIS CONFERENCE

Let&apos;s Mobilize Events&apos; 2016 Masculine of Center (MOC) Conference is the unboxing of the MOC narrative. The weekend will consist of all facets of the other side of the identity narrative.

What is Masculine of Center
Masculine of center (MOC) is a term, coined by B. Cole of the Brown Boi Project. The term recognizes the breadth and depth of identity for lesbian/queer who tilt toward the masculine side of the scale. It includes a wide range of identities such as butch, stud, aggressive/AG, dom, macha, tomboi, trans-masculine, androgynous, etc.

Conference Goals
Butch, Stud, Boi, Trans-Masculine, Androgynous, etc - we are all a community. And it&apos;s time to celebrate all of the intersections and discuss what is important!

Empower and affirm our differences while embracing our common goals
Discuss the concerns and issues, while prioritizing what matters in the community
Learning how to embrace all intersection in which we live and thrive and connect with the family that defines the community
Learn how to stand firm against prejudice while walking in truth in the full light of day in all capacities of life.

Conference Theme:
Let&apos;s Mobilize - Know Your Truth

Today&apos;s political environment is in a state of flux, where members of the LGBTQ+ Community may have to battle not only previously won battles but battles that could potentially rock the very foundation of the LGBTQ+ Movement. Knowing Your Truth has now taken on a deeper meaning. Our truth is the very perception in which our lives are navigated and circumvented in the environment around us.

How far are we from a world of complete acceptance and tolerance? Are we equipped to mobilize to further our agendas? What are the barriers to the empowerment of our community? How accessible are the resources and can they assist in taking the community to the next level?

These questions will be explored through a mix of speakers, panel discussions, and workshops

The GenOUT Youth Chorus, now in its third season, is welcoming new singers at our January rehearsals, starting this Sunday, January 8, 2:00-3:30 PM. The GenOUT Chorus is open to all students (LGBTQ and allies) from ages 13 through 18. Our 2-fold mission is to give young LGBTQA people a voice and to connect those voices to community.

If students are not able to attend on January 8, they may also join on our second rehearsal, which is Sunday, January 22, 2:00-3:30 PM.

Since its founding in January 2015, the GenOUT Chorus has grown from 9 singers to over 20 (from 15 schools around the DC area), and we have performed at the Lincoln Theatre, the Kennedy Center, the White House, and at the 2016 GALA Choruses Festival in Denver.

There is a nominal registration fee ($90) to participate, but no one is turned away for an inability to pay (scholarships are available).

Rehearsals are typically held at the renovated Wonder Bread Factory, at 641 S St., NW (near the corner of 7th & S Sts., NW; just steps away from the Shaw Metro stop).

Please help spread the word about this opportunity to the young people in your GSA and school. We welcome anyone who loves to sing and who would be a great fit for our GenOUT community. Feel free to pass on my e-mail address to your students and parents.

The spring rehearsal and performance calendar can be accessed here:

<summary> Gay District is a community-based organization focused on building understanding of gay culture and personal identity, awareness of community events and civil rights for gay, bi, trans, queer, questioning and inter-sexed (GBTQQI) men between the ages of 18 and 35 in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.

Through a synthesis of interpersonal interaction and community involvement, we aim to promote a more productive GBTQQ community and an enlightened understanding of gay urban living. In addition, we believe that our program will encourage them to become more active in the social justice arena. We strive to reach our mission through facilitated discussions, and regular and ongoing happy hours, weekend outings, community and cultural events, volunteer opportunities, and other occasions created by and for our participants.

Join Gay District on the first and third Fridays of each month for a facilitated group discussion. The meetings begin at 8:30 PM at the DC Center for the LGBT Community. After the meeting, members often head out for dinner together in the neighborhood.

For more information, visit the Gay District website at www.gaydistrict.org or check us out on Facebook!

<summary>FILM: Seducing Mr. Bluefrog: NSFW with short film Perpetual

WHEN: Saturday, October 15th @ 11pm

WHERE: Gala Hispanic Theatre | 3333 4th St NW

SYNOPSIS: A cam-model bears it all--in more ways than one. Mr. Bluefrog enjoys taking erotic photos and videos of himself to share online as both a hobby and an art. When he agrees to star in Hendrik Shäfer&apos;s experimental documentary, he has the opportunity to direct his own porno, but he must also expose himself to the camera in ways he&apos;s not used to. The result is a sexy, strange, and self-aware film that certainly lives up to its title while probing important questions about privacy and exhibitionism in the digital age.

Tickets for the screening of Mr. Bluefrog and Perpetual can be purchased here.

The HIV Working Group hosts safer sex kit packing parties on the first and third Tuesday of every month! Come join us this month on October 4th and October 18th from 7 PM- 9 PM if you would like to get involved! We will be hosting both parties at The DC Center (2000 14th St. NW Suite 105, Washington, D.C. 20009).

All of the kits we assemble will be distributed at local LGBT establishments like Secrets, JR&apos;s, The Green Lantern, and Town. If you are aware of any other LGBT spaces that primarily serve communities of color, please don&apos;t hesitate to have them call us at 202-682-2245 so they can be added to our distribution list.

You can help fight the HIV epidemic in the District of Columbia by volunteering your time to this effort. Come meet new people and educate yourself on what you can do to prevent the spread of HIV in your own community. Also learn about what The HIV Working Group and The DC Center do to help reach MSM and trans women of color!

These kits also include important information on pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP). This is a revolutionary medication that acts to prevent HIV the way birth control works to prevent pregnancy. Learn more about PrEP and other ways to protect against the spread of HIV by joining us this month at The DC Center. We hope to see you there!

<summary>FILM: Spectrum Shorts: Gender, Identity and Aging

WHEN: Saturday, October 15th @ 1pm

WHERE: Gala Hispanic Theatre | 3333 14th St NW

SYNOPSIS: This short film program traverses the globe to share stories by and about those of us who don&apos;t fit neatly into conventional ideas of gender, aging or identity. To assemble a program that highlights nearly every hue of the LGBTQ spectrum, we drew inspiration from the moving Brazilian short Places of Fear and Hatred; and from sexagenarian gay country singer-songwriter Patrick Haggerty, proudly &quot;singing old songs to old people&quot; in the delightful doc These C*cksucking Tears; from the tender slow-burn of two strangers finding common ground in Dawn; from Frances Reed, the enterprising and gender non-conforming subject of malefemale; and from the square dancers of Partners, and the seniors supporting one another in An Afternoon Knows; from an elegant lady out on the town in First Night Out, and the enduring love and partnership of Cecil &amp; Carl. We hope you too will find insight and inspiration here.

Tickets for the screening of Spectrum Shorts can be purchased here.

    <summary>FILM: RETAKE

WHEN: Thursday, October 13th @ 7pm

WHERE: Human Rights Campaign Building | 1640 Rhode Island Ave NW

SYNOPSIS: With a seductive gravitational allure, RETAKE pulls viewers into a world of love, loss, and intrigue from its opening scenes. Handsome businessman Jonathan (Tuc Watkins) has returned to San Francisco with a mission. He&apos;s on the hunt for a brunette who is &quot;rough around the edges,&quot; temperamental, and scented with just the right cologne.

Cruising the streets of the city, he finds what he&apos;s looking for in a flirtatious young hustler played by Devon Graye, and a bold proposition is made: If this young man agrees to accompany Jonathan on a road trip to the Grand Canyon, he&apos;ll get double his nightly rate, plus $1,000. But, there&apos;s a catch: He has to role-play as someone named &quot;Brandon&quot; for the full ride. Eager to leave his life on the streets, he says yes, and an amorous game of manipulation and obsession commences. So begins the ambitious, risk-taking first feature by Nick Corporon, a film of romance and brooding suspense, with shades of Alfred Hitchcock&apos;s Vertigo. The mystery of the real Brandon haunts the film for its duration. As the role-playing intensifies, the what and the who become captivatingly confused, as lines between fantasy and reality, desire and performance, blur. RETAKE is a spellbinding journey of heartbreak and self-discovery.-- Curran Nault from 2016 Frameline Film Festival

Tickets for the VIP Launch/Exclusive screening of RETAKE can be purchased here.
