TDJ City Tapes: Stormy Records

Just past the Dearborn city limits sits a small, resilient outpost of the tactile music industry. Stormy Records isn't a leftover of the once booming record store business however, it's a thriving storefront specializing in the intersection of ephemeral listening experience and tangible music media. Windy Weber and her partner Carl Hultgren, respected musicians themsleves, opened Stormy in 1999. The store survived the rough economy of the 'aughts and the disintegration of the behemoth record labels. After a handful of locations changes, . 

Still, operating a small business is tough work, but Weber has no shortage of love for introducing her customers to new music that eschews popular convention.
