DIY Fabric Garland

One of my favorite decorations for holidays (or anytime!) is a mixed fabric banner.

What you need-
Scissors
7 feet of twine rope
Measure tape
5 different patterned fabrics
NOTE: For a mini garland have the ladies at joAnns cut them at 10"
For a big long garland have them cut a half yard (18")

Instructions:
FOR MINI: Cut the fabric into 2 1/2" strips
FOR BIG: Cut the fabric into 2 1/2" - 3" strips
Take the twine and knot the fabric pieces along it until your all the way at the end.
If you have some space you can fill in with other plain color fabric. It really depends on how squished or spread out you want the fabric on the garland to be.

DIY Thrift Store Lamp to Jewelry Stand

This Turned Out Cuter Than I Could Have Ever Imagined!

I needed a necklace stand for my Devoted Heart 28" Necklaces and everything I could find would be $50 or more! So I did some pinterest research and found this post/link. It looked simple enough to do, the tough part was finding a cute lamp stand with some character. I decided to go to my local goodwill (which seems to always have what I need!) and I found this gold beauty for $9.99. What attracted me to it, was the leaves and flower like features.

I took the top light part out and the cord attached to it.

I then painted it with some leftover ivory cream paint I used on another piece of furniture in my house.

Now I needed a pole to hold the necklaces from. I was going to buy an 18" wood pole from Home Depot or Lowes but we had an extra pipe in the garage and so I just had my hubs cut it to the length for me.

I then glued buttons from Joann's on the ends to "close" it.

After that I took some thick twine I had and glued it around the pole

I then glued the pole to the lamp and it was finished!!! I really love how it turned out!

I love the character it gives the necklaces too! Such a neat find!

Juicy Teriyaki Chicken Recipe

Ingredients:

1/3 Cup Lemon Juice

1/4 Cup Butter (Melted)

1/4 Cup Teriyaki or Soy Sauce

2 Tablespoons Firmly Packed Brown Sugar

1/2 Teaspoon Ground Ginger

1/4 Teaspoon Ground Pepper

3 Tablespoons Ketchup

1 Teaspoon Chopped Garlic

4 Large Chicken Breasts or 1 Pound of Chicken

*Option: If You Want Chicken Kabobs, Cut The Chicken into Pieces

Directions:

Combine All The Ingredients into a Zip Lock Bag

Keep 2 Tablespoons Aside

Place Chicken in Bag & Tightly Seal

Turn Bag Several Times To Coat Chicken

Place Bag in a Glass Pan

Refrigerate for at Least 3 Hours or Overnight

After Chicken is Marinated, Cook Over a BBQ

Crockpot Roast Beef Sandwich

These are the best! And so easy to make ;)

Makes 6 Sandwiches

Ingredients:

French Rolls

Provolone Cheese

1 Pound Rump Roast

1 Medium Green Bell Pepper

1 Medium White Onion

1 Can 14.5oz Beef Broth

Pepper & Garlic Salt to Season

Directions:

Place Beef in Slow Cooker

Pour Broth over the Beef

Season with 1 Tsp Pepper & 1 Tblsp Garlic Salt

Chop Onion & Pepper into Strips

Put on Top of Beef

Optional: Put more pepper and salt on top of veggies

Cook on High for 8 Hours

After Roast is Done use a Fork to Strip the Beef

Place on Roll and Top with Provolone Cheese

I put it in the toaster oven to melt the cheese :)

Use the Juice in the Crockpot for the Au Jus Dip

I'm excited to announce that I have started my own little shop:

I created this shop selling inspirational necklaces and other items that speak to my Heart. Each item I devote my time trying to find the one phrase/verse that speaks to me. My life depends on Gods Word. I can't go a day without referencing one to get me through it. My Heart is Devoted to the Lord. Some days we just need a lift me up and being able to look at a verse can do just that. Thats why I created these necklaces. Wherever you are, whatever you are doing, you can look down on the necklace and know Jesus is with you and cares about you. He loves you unconditionally. How awesome is that? Disposable Gloves

Old Clothes To Wear While Staining

Old Rag to Rub Stain On

1x6 Foot Board

Stain Color Of Your Choice

Mine is From Home Depot Called Provincial (Pic Below)

Vinyl Numbers (You Can Also Use Stencils & Black Paint)

Measuring Tape

Ruler

Sharpie

Instructions:

This is so easy it's crazy to me that people pay $100 for it!

Stain your wood

Take a ruler and with a pencil Mark your 1 foot and inches lines.

Lay your number stencils out 1 foot apart. ( I created my numbers with my cricut) I would put them a little before the actual 1 foot Mark so that it doesn't run down your number when you paint the lines. (SEE PIC)

Paint the numbers and lines!!

So simple :)

Here is the recipe:

Turn oven on to 200F

Mix 1/2 Cup Salt, 1/2 Cup Plain Flour and 2 Tblsp of Water in a bowl. Knead on a floured surface till dough forms. Seperate into 3 pieces. And place kids hands/feet into the dough. Cut around the hand/foot to make it stand out more. Take a toothpick and at the bottom make a small hole to later put the ribbon through. Bake for 3 hours. Take out and let it cool than paint!

Makes about 3 Feet/Hands

( I made one for myself, my mom and my mother-in-law)

Tips on How To Make Your House Look Like a The Model Homes

#1 PAINT

Every Model a Home you go into their walls are always painted. And it's either a light grey, grey beige, or warm beige.

The Accent Wall Colors flow into each room. If the house is themed with blue, each room has an accent wall or painted stripes of the different shades of blue represented in the house.

#2 HOME DECOR

The Same Theme runs throughout the entire house, from the living room to the laundry room to all the bedrooms. Wether it's a beach theme or a color theme each room has a hint of it in it.

#3 WALL SPACE

The same type of art work is represented into the entire house. I've even noticed the same, but different images, of artwork in the master bedroom and then also on the walls right outside the room. I believe this gives the sense of good transition. Example: A couple butterfly pictures are in the hallway going towards the bedroom and then in the bedroom there are 2 big pictures of butterflies and maybe an accent butterfly pillow. As well as the sand color scheme is shown. Butterfly pictures both have blues, oranges, and greens... So the master bedroom has accent colors that match those pictures. Blue accent wall behind the bed with a white bed sheet and orange and green accent pillows. Even the bathroom matches with green and white pattern accent towels. THE KEY IS EVERYTHING TIES IN TOGETHER!!

Placement of the pictures/art is important to. I have noticed a picture frame on both sides of the bed directly above the nightstands, or 2 side by side directly above the bed if there isn't a headboard,

#4 CURTAINS

The curtains, I have noticed, are always placed up high to give the illusion of a taller room. They also use large circular clip ons to hold the curtains to the rod.

The curtains used are also very subtle with not lots of patterns or colors.

#5 NO CLUTTER

When you walk into a model home the first thing you notice is it's a model home because there is no way a family of four could live here so neatly! But it is possible to hide a lot of the unnecessary clutter left behind. Think built in cabinet space and less decor (dust collectors) on the counters. This also helps give a more open and cleaner look. Ever see an episode of hoarders? The before and after pictures are fun to see, well for 1 you can actually see the floor and the house, but 2 the house looks bigger! You can see how more stuff makes it look more crammed and the illusion of it looking smaller.

#6 SMELL

Ever walk into a model home and your eyes are distracted my the smell? Ofcourse not! Model homes smell like a new car, clean. Changing out your air vents regularly can help maintain the smell of rust. As well as lighting candles, I prefer Bath and Body Works, they are the only candles I ALWAYS, get compliments on.

#7 Furniture Placement

Living Room

Bedrooms- When you walk into a model home bedroom the main eye focal point goes to the bed. They achieve this but placing the bed where the eyes go first. Straight. They also add a background accent paint color behind the bed to make that wall stand out. Some rooms you can't place the bed straight ahead so this extra wall color really gets the eyes attention.

#8 PILLOWS- If you have ever noticed the pillows in the homes are "chopped" down the center.

DIY:: Baby Crib Sheet Tutorial

How to Make Your own DIY Crib Sheet:

What You will Need:

Fabric- 2 Yards or 45"x 68"
Elastic- 78" & 1/4" wide
Measuring Tape, Scissors, Pins, Sewing Machine & Coordinating Thread
Iron Board and Iron

Cut an 8" Square from each of the 4 corners

It Should Look Like This:

Then grab the corner pieces and place right sides together, line up the edges and stitch. Also do a second zig zag stitch down to help from fray or tear.

Do it for all four corners

Fold all the edges twice about a quarter inch and iron and pin to create a crease for the elastic. Sew along the edges to close it. Leave a 1" opening at the end to put the elastic through.

Attach safety pins at the ends of the elastic to help thread it through easier. Pin one end to the opening of the fabric so it doesn't get threaded through on accident.

When the elastic is all the way threaded through stitch it together and then close the opening.

Here is the End Result!! Super Easy!

DIY:: Baby Moby Wrap

Making a Moby Wrap Couldn't be any Easier! Cost $15!

What you need:

3 Yards of Stretchy Fabric

Scissors

Pins

Sewing Machine and Thread

Directions:

First Fold the Fabric in Half (Hot Dog Style) and Pin

Second- Cut Down the Middle

Third- Take The 2 Ends and Pin Together so it Makes a 6 Foot Long (Super Long) Piece.

Fourth: Sew the ends together. 1st do a zig zag stitch, then go over again with a straight stitch. You want to make sure it's a solid stitch so it doesn't rip!

And that's it!!! Super easy right?
