Bushwick Collective Painting

So i finally got down to the bushwick collective and met up with Joe the curator to pick a spot. I painted a sheetmetal fence, right next to joe iurato on the corner of troutman and st.nicolas. I did an abstract piece that i been working on lately and am really happy with how it came out.

Yesterday was Jersey Fresh Jam and was probably the coolest jam i ever painted at. Myself and my friend Kev from RobotsWillkill collabed on the fly when we got there in the morning and worked non stop till the event was over. Met a lot of cool people and all the art was of the charts. Shouts to leon rainbow, Demer and the rest of the vicious styles crew for inviting us down and setting up the jam. Also Billy from freshpaintnyc.com for chilling during the day and shooting flicks.

My good friend See One just had an interview featured on brooklyn street art. It’s an in depth look at the artists process and the evolution of his shards technique.

A New York native, See One is a self-taught visual artist with a big imagination which was electrified as a kid in the city seeing graffiti growing up in the 1980s. Constantly drawing for hours on end as a child, he was also inspired by the characters, cartoons, and comic books of the time and he began creating his own world at a young age in sketchbooks and on walls. His initial pieces on the street were character-based and paid homage to that earlier New York traditional graffiti style, and he still likes that too.

Around 2009 See One began to experiment and develop a more abstract style for his works on canvas and on the street, using a recurring symbol that he now refers to as “Shards”. As his style evolved, a new world opened before him as his swift and swooping hand and arm movements produced fluid and jagged abstract graffiti patterns that fly and flow, evoking broken shards of glass that inhabit a third dimension, making the art pop off the wall. With this new practice, See One effectively opened a door for himself to combine graffiti and Street Art influences into one distinctive vision.

First Piece in 3 years!

I got back to my graffiti roots today and did my first piece in 3 yrs. Had a limited amount of paint so my color selection isn’t top notch, but i’m very happy to know I’m still sharp with the can (without stencils). Thanks to the NYC Arts Cypher for the wall.

I attached the original sketch, but had to alter it on spot to fit the wall.

Jilly Ballistic – Faux Computer alert street art

Just came across a new street artist i haven’t heard of yet. Her name is Jilly Ballistic and she puts faux computer alerts on subway advertisements. They’re both comical and intelligent, along with well placed. I bet your average passerby doesn’t even notice the changes.
