Brand new video from Grum: a satisfying but sad tale of an 80s cop bromance possibly set in Australia — at least it seems like it after watching Aussie cop dramas in Africa. No offense.

To promote the release of Easy’s Heatshock they, along with Saintwoods and MOOG Audio, have launched a full fledged remix competition!

‘Heatshock’ is a little difficult to put in words. Like the band itself, it’s filled with so many different influences that it’s hard to really categorize. Full of rock n’ roll love, ‘Heatshock’ drives forward along a synthy highway littered by bassy pot holes and piercing vocals. Somehow the soothing synthesized melody in tandem with chaotic guitar riffs form an anthem perfect nightclubs or, for that matter, 150,000 person festivals.

As for the competition, it’s easy: make a remix.

Just grab the stems from Soundcloud, lock the door to your basement and forge out what you can by August 31st.

When you’re done, drop it off in Saintwood’s Dropbox.

1st place will receive a copy of Ableton Live Intro from the lovely folks at MOOG Audio and an appearance of your remix on the official Heatshock EP.

3 runner-ups won’t be getting any free software, but a chance at stardom with their remixes also appearing on the official release.

Mini Viva first caught our eye with ‘Left My Heart In Tokyo‘ over a year ago. Powered by the unstoppable British force Xenomania, ‘One Touch’ is filled with hypnotic synthy goodness layered with thriving bass and tickling lyrics create a gorgeous disco-pop track.

We missed last week to go see Diplo here in Ottawa for Ritual’s One Year Anniversary. Misio returned from Europe as of today, but is too tired to partake in tonight’s events. Seb and Mike’ll till 2 as THE DOCKING STATION trails on every Sat at 12.

Tommie Sunshine’s new single ’5AM (A Girl Like You)’ as been remixed by just about everybody in the business it’s almost hard to find the original. The track featuring Oh Snap!! now has a video!

Remember all those Tommie 5AM remixes? This is what he must have been thinking about.

Robyn dropped her long awaited 5th studio album Body Talk Pt. 1 in June. One of the finest electronic-pop albums ever forged in my opinion and the first single, ‘Dancing On My Own’, is just the tip of that iceberg.

The original (video below) produced by Patrik Berger has so much energy for an emotional break-up sorta song but Chew Fu’s take on it just lights me right up. Chew’s slow and rolling synth lines have an eerie tone, but at the same time creates a powerfully epic end-of-the-night feeling that washes completely over you at 130dB. Chills every time.

As an honorable mention to another amazing producer, the Rex The Dog remix of ‘Dancing On My Own’ is also very good. For those of you who know Rex, this remix is exactly what you’d expect. Lots of older synths being put to use with that familiar rolling kickdrum, accents Robyn’s voice awfully well. This remix ended up being on the second release of the Dancing On My Own EP so it’s only a stream here. Go buy it.
