I made the mistake of looking up dollhouses on Etsy yesterday (who knew there were so many on the market?!). And now I'm sharing my findings with you! When I was little, I desperately wanted a dollhouse (still do, actually). Add that to the list of living in a tree house and owning my own cupcake shop. Someday, someday...

Quail Country Antiques

I cannot tell you how many times I've driven by this little antique shop, Quail Country Antiques, without giving it a second thought. A few weeks ago, under some sort of epiphany, Mom and I decided to stop by and check it out. Man oh man am I glad we did. Furniture + knick knacks + books galore. My mom reminisced about all the childhood toys she got rid of that are now valuable, while I snapped away and caressed everything in sight.

I know this doesn't really fit in with the rest of the post, but I just LOVE my new shoes!

wearing thrifted dress, bloomers are steve madden, tights are hue, and shoes are from urban outfitters.

And sometimes film makes me very very happy.

I picked up a few rolls of film today from my latest photo shoot. And this is one of the images. Sometimes film makes me cry (like when an entire roll comes back blank). And sometimes (like now) film makes me very very happy. I'm excited to share the rest soon!

In another life, I'd like to imagine myself being cool and edgy enough to pull off a look like this, but in reality, I am truly a big fat chicken (besides, i don't think dark hair and pastels really mix...). But back to the point now: how utterly delightful is this model's hair? Dream hair.

Channeling a Full House character of some sort...

So basically an outfit like this would have excited me when I was about... five. And it still does. The shirt especially. Even if it mildly resembles this shirt. And up until a few years ago, I wouldn't be seen within a 50 mile radius of a shirt with an elephant on it. Go figure. It's made from sweatshirt material, so it's comfy, cozy, and just warm enough that I can get away with not wearing a jacket outside. I'm fairly certain I wore an exact replica of this outfit in 1st grade, but that's beside the point. What's dressing up if you can't have fun? I'm sure any self-respecting five-year-old girl would approve.

The past few weeks, there have been a few new additions to my room and wardrobe. I'm in the midst of redecorating my room; little by little making some small changes like new pictures, new trinkets, etc.

Owl cross stitch wall art from Urban Outfitters on sale for $5... score. And a teddy bear I've had since I was a wee little one.

Penny loafers from Banana Republic. (no doubt will try to recreate this outfit with them)

Candles in mason jars.

Nancy Drew books from my mom's collection, given to me by my mom. (took a trip down memory lane with these; they were my favorite childhood books).

Thrifting days with my mom are, by far, my favorite. This particular day wasn't exactly a thrifting day... we just stopped by College Ave. Crossroads to trade in some clothes (and get a few new ones...). But it was a fine day nonetheless. At one point in the car, the temperature read 70 degrees! In January! Imagine that. I guess that's why people pay to live in California :)

After our trip to Crossroads, we took a few blog pictures for no other reason than we were in the mood. 70 degree weather and sunshine, plus trading in old clothes for new ones (i swear, trading clothes is the best invention ever; thank you crossroads!) can put anyone in a good mood.

I got these pants at Urban Outfitters last week; originally $49, marked down to $20, with an additional 50% off. $10 pants. Now THAT puts me in a good mood. And if that jumping picture doesn't scream good mood, then I don't know what does.

Mom and I took these photos during the golden hour of one of my favorite neighborhoods, Rockridge. It houses just about theeee sweetest, cheeriest storybook homes you can ever imagine. Every time I visit this area, I love it even more. I'd love to live here, but then I think it would somehow spoil its specialness because then it wouldn't be such a treat to visit, you know? Plus it's kind of nice not knowing anyone in the area when you take blog pictures. Cause it would be kinda weird taking pictures in front of your neighbor's house. Whereas taking pictures in front of strangers' houses? Well that's my forte ;)

When I saw this dress at Ruche, I about had a heart attack, or something like that. You know the saying, "You had me at hello?" Well this dress had me at its collar. If that makes any sense. Hopefully you know what I mean. Anyway. This dress is pretty versatile because it lends itself to layering, which is key when it's a wee bit too chilly for short sleeves.

You can't really tell, but while we were taking blog pictures, a cat came up to the gate behind us. I really hoped he'd come closer so we could take pictures of him, but he ran away.

Yesterday was the last day my dad had off from work and my last day of winter break, so it was a little bittersweet. It's always tough getting back into the regular routine after time off (aka i'm going to miss lounging around in my pj's till noon). Our yesterday looked a little like this...

Hello folks and HAPPY THURSDAY! This is my last post till the new year, so I'm leaving you with something extra special. I recently did this doll photoshoot inspired by this magical video. Gosh, I must have seen that video at least 10 times. The idea was to capture the life of dolls that humans don't see. Like what dolls do when we aren't looking. I've always loved the idea that dolls have a secret life independent of their owners. I really want to expand this concept and do a part two sometime soonish... we'll see. This was my second studio shoot ever and was super fun (but between you and me, i like being in the good ol' outdoors a whole lot better).

This weekend sees me updating my photography website and crafting with friends. I hope you have a great weekend and week. Stay safe and I'll see you in 2012!

Audrey Grace Boutique Opening

The Audrey Grace Boutique Opening was last Saturday and I was so excited when Jaclyn posted the pictures of the shop. It's the first time I've ever taken part in a photography exhibition and I am so happy seeing my artwork hanging up alongside so many other peoples'... I think I'm going to watch an Audrey Hepburn movie tonight just to celebrate.

Too much loveliness all in one place. Even the walls are the Tiffany blue color! Anyone who's lucky enough to live in Jackson, Mississippi, I encourage you to go!

One of my favorite things about cool weather is that I can wear tights. Over the years, I've accumulated quite the collection. The newest addition to my tights family are my gold colored tights, gifted to me by my mom (thanks mom!). Now you wouldn't think gold would go with a lot of things, but magically it seems to match with most everything I own. I have to restrain myself from wearing them every day. Because if I didn't exercise any self-control, I could easily wear them every day. Do you love tights as much as I do?

The weather has been cool and crisp lately. The nights have been just cold enough for a frost to form on people's lawns. The frost looks so pretty in the morning light. Maybe I'll take pictures sometime this week to share. My days have been spent reading with a cup of tea and spending my nights watching old movies with the fam. I've also been listening to this on repeat. I'll take a few more days like these, yes a few more days like these indeed ♥.

Anka Zhuravleva is an artist living in Saint Petersburg, Russia. Her work is magical; I especially love her 'distorted gravity' series. The scenes depicted in her photographs are so eccentric, it's almost calming, soothing.
