This sincere track reminds me of the era when songs of this style reigned supreme, and we were all enamored by that Death Cab For Cutie sound. I love the female support vocals on this track, they really bring it home for me. Enjoy!

I have a weak spot in my heart for Salt N Peppa's Push It. This isn't so much a remix of the 90's gem as much as it is a tribute to. Rotkraft lightens the rawness of the original, and smoothens it out resulting in a perfect summer jam. I also have a soft spot in my heart for steel drums and every variant imaginable, so this is a real winner in my book. Enjoy!

This track got me the first time I heard it a few notes after that bassline started digging that amazing groove. The track builds for a while, then tapers off only to reveal a smooth and collective jam. I feel that the track is overall slightly understated, it stays within many boundaries. Yet the song sets itself apart and keeps every moment interesting with hidden elements that I noticed only after 2-3 listens. Enjoy!

There has to be something in that Parisian water, because the sounds that have been coming out of France just gets better and better! This track not only pays homage to the artist formerly and usually currently known as Prince, you can probably envision him singing this track in your mind's eye. Though the singer of this track more closely resembles a member of LMFAO.
But I'm here to talk music, and this song is music to my ears. The guitar riff is completely spot on. The vocals are so glimmery that I have to wear sunglasses to look a them. Enjoy!
The vocal melody of this track is completely infectious. There's more to the track than just the superb vocal melody, check out that groovy bassline, the strong essence of summer, and the feeling that you want to sing along even though this is the first time you've heard the song. Enjoy!

That playful piano sample that sounds like it was pulled right out of steamboat willie works wonders on this track. Of course it opens up the track for her voice to smack you across the kisser when you hear it, which it does. What else does this song have besides a golden sample and an amazing voice? Soul. You hear the attitude yet feel the vulnerability. Enjoy!
Those pulsing waves of synthesizer massage my ears, and her vocals weave right into the synth heavy track perfectly. The track is a bit dark and echoey with a bit of that don't-fuck-with-me attitude, not to mention it's electric sexy. This is a track you listen to on the way home from a disappointing friday night, maybe your crush made out with someone else on the dance floor, or someone spilled a drink on you. Either way it has you down but nowhere near out. Enjoy!

There's a very candid message communicated by this song, to be free with your love. The genius is in the delivery. I love how the songs starts out, it's a flashback to the Paula Abdul production of the late 80's early 90's. The drum machine, the bassline, the you-must-clap-along index is extremely high, and the song gets continually better from there. Allow this song to put you in the mood to spread some love. Enjoy!

This track, oh this track. That intro is captivating, where is it going I think to myself as it starts out. And then as the drums and bass start to create the scenery that saxophone shows up. Kapow, I'm sold. The track has deep soul, deep groove, but it's fast and upbeat tempo keep the song fit for a dance floor. This particular record has a skip mid song, and I wonder if that's just this copy or if many copies were manufactured this way. But that's vinyl, take it or leave it -or blog it if you're us! Enjoy!
When I hear this song I feel just a bit cooler than I feel already. I want to grow my hair long and greasy, not give a shit about the outside world, and walk around being a badass. Perhaps that's just how I envision the Silver Rockets to be when I hear this track, cause the maker of something this awesome looks like that in my imagination. The guitars, the shaker, the vocals, all speak leather jacket rock and roll to me. Enjoy!
I was completely on board with this track, loving the sped up samples, slowed down hand claps, and chopped up chants. Then out of left field I was hit with a 1990's flash back that crowbar'd a smile on my face. I guarantee that you'll recognize what I'm talking about well past the 4 minute mark, but make sure to enjoy the ride just as much as the destination, as this track has retaught me this lesson yet again. Enjoy!
I've been jamming the new Phoenix album, especially "Trying To Be Cool". When I'm already in love with a song, I become weary of remixes for fear that it may taint the original in some strange way. Needless to say, I'm a fan of every remix effort attempted so far by The Chainsmokers. Similar to their other remixes, this brings an upbeat sunshine day vibe to the song with the energy kicked up a few notches. Enjoy!
I'm ready for Giselle and her soft voice to spin my sorrow into silk. This remix does a great service to an already great track. The waves of synths make the track interesting, and cuts a bit of the melancholy feeling away from her lyrics. Enjoy!
This smooth and soulful track is best played when feeling sleepy, sexy, or anywhere in-between . This may remind you of Sade or Rhye which we've blogged before. The track flows like silk, and her voice dynamically jumps down to the lower register then back up again with ease. I want to put this record on and drink red wine and feel sexy. Enjoy!
Sometimes you just need that melancholy in your life you know? Trevor Powers is in his young twenties and I'm sure his music has been used in some indie romcoms, perhaps starring whoever has taken the mantel away from Zach Braff. With this track, Powers captures exactly what heartbreak sounds like.

This angelic track is is a pleasing homage to 80's pop with a firm foundation of current dance floor sounds. The lyrics tell me to keep sleeping, don't worry cause I'll be woken up when the time is right, basically ridding me of any possible anxiety. It's comforting knowing that someone has your back, and that "you can stay where you want to", especially when they say it in a beautiful song like this one. Enjoy!

The funkiness on this track is undeniable. The great guitar riff carries the beginning, to be taken over by the piano at breakdown #1. The song is executed perfectly. The track plays like a 6 minute track, even though it's over 8 and a half minutes in length. I'd drop this track 75% of the way into a DJ set since it's not too high energy, but allows plenty of upward movement in the following songs. Enjoy!
Here's a nice soft and sentimental track doesn't necessarily have a unique name, but I suppose there's enough space in this world for another song titled "Hero". The track is simple, the message is clear, and the execution of the song is excellent. Enjoy!
This dance-y track surprised me when I heard, "Her name is R-A, D-I, Ohhh. L-A, D-I, Ohhh". It's so fun, so good, makes me want to jump up and dance hard when I hear it. The funky guitars and clapping at the beginning are a fun touch along with the somewhat quirky percussion.
I was torn choosing only one song off of their album The Archer Trilogy Pt. 2, but this track spoke to me at this moment. Their vocals go so well together, her airy and slightly eerie voice along with his vocals supporting in a near invisible way makes for quite the sound. Couple that pairing with the dynamic use of electronic sounds and I'm won over. Enjoy!

This song captures the sound that I could not stop dancing to around 2001. The drums are strong and fast. The synths are smooth, soulful, and warm. And that bassline grabs your feet and effortlessly moves them accordingly. I dig the patient breakdown explaining in humble words how this genius of work has come from his fingertips, whoever the sample is of (I don't know for sure).

There is a bit of record noise in the left channel towards the end of the track. I washed this one as best I could, but with buying used records this sorta thing comes along with the territory. Enjoy!

I'm feeling very into beautifully layered synths lately, and this song hits me upside the head hard with that winning formula. I also appreciate the fun use of samples that jump and wiggle through the song. My favorite part of this track is smack at the front of the song, the build is just asking to be a set opener. Enjoy!
Anyone who says music is a magical journey, has obviously just listened to this track. Welcome to synth layer heaven. The bouncy bassline keeps everything on track and the keyboards literally go wild all over the track. It's the sign of a great track that even after 7 entire minutes of the same song, I'm ready to push repeat. Enjoy!
The signature sound of Atlas Genius is, for lack of better words, genius. I love the upbeat melody and the singable lyrics.
Recently I've been attracted to slow, easy, beautiful songs to start my week off to, but this week is different. Today I'm feeling in-your-face loud and proud, and that's what this song is. Blam Blam Blam, the sounds hit you hard and bright, the bass drum is huge. Hello beginning of the week, I've arrived. Enjoy!
