This is a wonderful quality to life.

I think the era of The Fabric of Meditation has to give way to a new one.

I will be being more at home and this will allow me to enjoy many different techniques, not only the ones I did before.

Having more time will be a luxury I want to share and there will be more diversity and stories in the blog.

I seem to be a lot abroad this year and I'm sorry about updating my blog only once in a while...

I spent a very nice time with internet friends at Urchfont in England, working together on our textile projects and having fun.

Ich bin heuer ziemlich viel im Ausland unterwegs und komme nicht dazu meinen Blog zu pflegen...

Ich war in Urchfont Manor in England. Dort habe ich mit Internetfreunden -die Textilkunst unterrichten- zusammengearbeitet und Spaß gehabt. Ich kann diesen Manor nur empfehlen, da sie sehr interessante Kurse in allen Handwerksrichtungen auch anbieten und die Umgebung und Verpflegung ausgezeichnet sind! Ein Geheimtipp!!.

I can't say I'm really back because I'm on a very tight schedule till mid October but I will try to work on some projects between my duties...

At the moment I'm interested in combining wire crochet with my embellisher work. You can see my first try on the photos.

In the Azores I bought some traditional fabrics that are made in the predominant color you find in the island Pico if you refrain from using the all predominant one that is the green of the foliage of the wonderful plants all around you.

In den Azoren habe ich einige traditionelle Stoffe gekauft, die die Hauptfarbe der Insel -abgesehen vom allgegenwärtigen Grün- aufweisen: Schwarz.

The island is mainly black frozen lava and everything, from the houses to the garden earth is made of it.

Die Insel ist hauptsächlich versteinerte Lava, von den Häusern zu der Gartenerde.

I was so happy to receive as a present some wonderfully crocheted doilies to use in my work.
I visited the crafts museum and this was one of the highlights of the trip.

Ich war ganz froh, gehäkelte Deckchen geschenkt zu bekommen. Die Handwerksmuseen waren einer meiner Reisehöhepunkte.

The other thing you could see everywhere - even if I didn't see them in nature - were whales and dolphins, pictures and souvenirs with them. I also visited two museums about whale hunting and art made out of whale teeth. You can see some photos here.

Die andere Sache, die man überall sieht, sind Wale und Delphine in allen Formen, als Fotos, Schnitzereien und Souvenirs. Ich habe zwei Walfangmuseen besucht. Man kann hier Fotos sehen.

Bicycle tour

Today I did the biggest bicycle tour in my life! more than 30 km. This is for me something like the Tour de France. I got a red tan and I feel fine. I don't have the sore muscles I was expecting. I must confess that the road was a rather flat bicycle road but it was all new for me.

We took coffee at a nice Café, sat near a waterfall knitting and reading, ate at a wonderful restaurant sitting under a tree and we came back safe to the car.

I will do this once a week!

Heute habe ich die größte Radtour meines Lebens gemacht. Mehr als 30 km. Dies ist für mich wie das Tour de France. Ich habe einen Sonnenstich und fühle mich super. Ich habe keinen Muskelkater! Ich muß zugeben, dass es ein flacher Radweg war, aber ganz neu für mich.

Wir haben Kaffee getrunken, gestrickt und gelesen neben einem Wasserfall (Foto kommt später) und in einem Restauranthof unter einem Baum gegessen.

Ich möchte es wöchentlich wiederholen!

I finished my last piece that is bigger as my usual ones. About 19" x 22" (38 x 46 cm).

It is about children becoming full-fledged and about the fear of let go. But it is also thinking about how we tame our dreams and are afraid of let them become what they want to become. About being liberated of bondages we inflict to ourselves.

The technique is a mixed one. I used the embellisher, hand and machine stitching, a wonderfuly hand made crochet piece of the Azores and a material mix including paper. Everything shows the many possibilities we have in art and life.

Ich habe das Stück "Seid artig!" fertig gemacht. Es ist größer als meine üblichen Stücke, ca. 38 x 46 cm.

Es ist über Kinder, die wachsen und flügge werden und unser Angst von Gehenlassen. Es ist aber auch ein Bild über unsere Träume und die Angst, diese Wirklichkeit werden zu lassen. Über Befreiung von den Fesseln, die wir uns selber auferlegen.

Ich habe verschiedene Techniken verwendet. Den Embellisher, Hand- und Maschinsticken, eine wunderbare gehäkelte Spitze aus den Azoren und eine Materialmischung, die sogar Papier enthält. Alles betont die vielen Möglichkeiten, die wir in Kunst und Leben haben.

During the workshop at my home this week end I was able to do some new small demo pieces which the ladies took with them. Well, actually the bigger one about the doors to the flow was one I began before I traveled to Italy and the Azores and that I finished now. These are parts of a new piece I'm working on.

Diese sind Teile eines neues Stückes.

I am experimenting with paper and also using more free motion embroidery to accentuate the graphic style of the piece as a contrast to the hand embroidered details.

Ich experimentiere mit Papier und freies Maschinsticken, um das graphische Charakter des Stückes zu betonen.

I will also experiment with print and scripture in combination with wool. This can be interesting to solve...

Ich werde auch mit Druck und Schrift in Kombination mit Wolle experimentieren. Diese ist eine Aufgabe, die interessant zu lösen sein wird...

Trying to move...

I bought a bicycle this morning after 3 days of dieting without losing weight! I can eat only a slice of cucumber a day and lose nothing but my good resolution...

These new bicycles have a low frame for easy access and this makes it more user friendly! My sport vibes went missing at some point of my life... many, many years ago...

Now I hope I use it often!!

After almost 3 weeks of cars, plains, trains and boats I'm back home from Italy, Germany, Portugal and the Azores.

I really need some rest and I don't know if I'm going to be able to be very present in the Blog or internet for a while. The problem is that I have some work to do and I don't have much time free. I think this is going to be my destiny till the end of September where I really am finished with my biggest plans for this year. I look forward to have a quiet fall and winter where I finally can work in my studio.

This doesn't mean that I'm not going to be present at all but not in the way I used to before all these deadlines and workshops began to happen.

Next year I'm going to have Sweden as highlight and I want to prepare new work for the exhibition and workshop there. I'm going to be at Leufsta Quilt and I want to restrict my work in public to this. I'm longing to do new work!

Spring in the spring

Now this is the product of my stay at my daughter's. I notice that I have a colorful spring...
I actually only did the piece I have underneath the crochet vest and the cowl but the colors matched somehow as I tried them and I decided to wear everything for the photo.

Dieses is das Produkt vom Besuch bei meiner Tochter Kirsten. Ich merke, dass ich momentan ziemlich auf Buntes falle. Eigentlich habe ich nur den unteren Teil gemacht, unter der Weste und dem extra Kragen. Die Farben paßten irgendwie zusammen und ich habe sie für das Fotos kombiniert.

I also discovered some wonderful stone slices in the city near the house of my daughter and they inpired me to do these two necklaces. I'm getting better at it with each one I do and I suppose I will have many ideas for the 18 stone slices I bought! I think I will sell them in the blog because I won't need all of them, it's just something fun to do while you're watching a film.

Ich habe auch einige wunderschöne Steinscheiben in Wiener Neustadt und sie inspirierten mich, diesen Halsschmuck zu machen. Ich habe viele Ideen dafür und dadurch, dass ich 18 Steine gekauft habe, werde ich einige Halsketten im Blog verkaufen müssen! Ich mache sie gerne beim DVD anschauen.

I had the opportunity of taking photos of two of my daughters with their children and one husband...

I'm a week away from home and have no Photoshop in my laptop so I had to play with Photoscape, a free download that's not bad for converting photos from the camera to a useful size and a couple of filters.

Ich hatte die Gelegenheit, zwei meiner Töchter, einen Ehemann und meine Enkerl zu fotografieren.

Ich bin eine Woche nicht zu Hause und ich habe keinen Photoshop in meinem Laptop. I habe ein Gratisdownload von einer Software "Photoscape" für Fotosverarbeitung ausprobiert. Damit kann ich mindestens die Fotos, die ich mache, uploaden.

I am thinking about construction, development, dependence and interaction.

A doll.

Wool from a sheep. The wool was sheared. Washed. Transported. Carded. Dyed. Sold. Bought. Storaged.

Paper began as a tree. Shall I write all the steps, roads and inks it took till it got into a book?... Written. Printed. Sold. Bought. Put on a shelf. Found its way into a flea market. Sold. Bought. Storaged. Teared. Sewn. Punched.

Fabric.... imagine please the steps that brought it to my sewing machine and embellisher.

Thread....once more the whole story of it.

A recycled kimono... with its own history.

Face...Drawn. Photoshoped. Printed.

Needles... where does metal begin at? what do I have in my hand? how many lives, stories, miles, insolvencies, bookkeeping records, internationality, globalization can find place in this only doll?

...and now I put everything together, tear it, distort it, cover and uncover it, just to twinge it, punch it, pierce it, stab it, jab and puncture it once more. I cut and add till the doll is a part of me, of what I am. It's delivered and shown after I take and add without obvious sense on all of its surface...

Why do we do this, why do we like this, why do we put together our own little universe? why do other people like it, want it, keep it, give it away, rediscover it, throw it in the garbage, exhibit it, give it to a museum, recycle it?

And there is joy and tears, discovery, serendipity, envy, selflessness, passion, pain, illusion, fear and all the human feelings palette in the process. And most of all oblivion at the end.

And this ragged piece of doll is a philosophical cornerstone that distracts me from finishing my bookkeeping.

Folks, this is a real mad, mad world...

It took me a while to decide this, but today I must tell you that I closed both of my shops.

I want to work more freely in the future and the shops were keeping me fixed in a spot somehow.

This year I have so many travels abroad that I'm not going to be able to work for the shops like I used to.

I'd like to try a new way of communication and working and I will have plenty of time between my workshops this year to make a good plan. I already have some idea of what I would like to do. Time will tell.

Ich habe eine Weile gebraucht, um diese Entscheidung zu fällen. Ich habe meine beiden Shops gesperrt.

Ich möchte mehr Arbeitsfreiheit haben und die Shops haben mich daran gehindert.

Heuer muß ich öfters ins Ausland fahren und ich würde die Shops auch nicht gut betreuen können.

Ich möchte neue Formen der Kommunikation und Arbeit im Blog finden und ich werde zwischen meine Workshops Zeit haben, daran zu denken. Ich habe schon eine Ahnung bezüglich dies...
Wir werden sehen.

I worked on my bookkeeping all day and I just finished when a wonderful light came into the room. I used it to take some photos trying my new camera once more.

The first one is the wrap I'm doing to match a summer dress I have.

The second one is a kind of Easter thing, with eggs that aren't round (I love distortions...!!).

The last one is from this odd light in the room. Everything looked lovely...

Ich habe den ganzen Tag mit meiner Buchhaltung verbracht, bis ein wunderbares Licht mich ablenkte. Ich nahm meine neue Kamera sofort, um das Bild fest zu halten.

Das erste Foto ist von einem Umhang, den ich gerade für ein passendes Kleid mache.

Das Zweite ist von einer Dekoration, die das Ähnlichste zu einer Osterdekoration heuer ist...

Yesterday I discovered the first issue of a new web magazine from the UK "Inside Crochet"
and had to order it right away because of the moebius on the front page... The Cecily Moebius from Amanda Perkins.

On the evening I heard an audio book while I crochet it and now I have half the size because I used a rather thin wool - a sock one - for it. This means I have to do 74 instead 42 flowers... but it's worth the work invested. I must hear another book today!

Gestern habe ich die erste Ausgabe einer neuen Zeitschrift aus GB "Inside Crochet"und ich habe sie gleich abbonieren müssen wegen dem Moebiusschal auf der Titelseite... (erste Ausgabe gratis und dann 2GBP alle 2 Monate, nicht schlecht...) das Cecily Moebius von Amanda Perkins.

Am Abend häkelte ich während ich ein Hörbuch genoß. Leider ist die Sockenwolle, die ich benutzte dünner als die in der Angabe und jetzt muss ich 74 anstatt 42 Blumen machen...und noch ein Buch hören!

New Camera - New Photos - New Work

I had to buy a new camera because the old one died a natural death... I'm very happy with the new one, a Samsung L310W from Amazon. Yes, it is this pink! The pictures have real good colours and I don't have to Photoshop them too much!

I took a couple of photos of my new piece and of the studio to test it and I wanted to share them with you. I was the one to jiggle, not the camera. Next time I must use my tripod!

Ich habe eine neue Kamera kaufen müssen, da die Letzte den Geist aufgegeben hat... Ich bin aber sehr zufrieden mit der Neuen, eine Samsung L310W von Amazon. Und, ja, sie ist auch so knallpink! Die Bilder haben sehr reale Farben und ich muss nicht so viel an sie mit Photoshop arbeiten!.

Ich habe ein Paar Fotos zum ausprobieren gemacht. Von meinem Studio und von meinem neuen Stück und ich wollte sie zeigen. Ich bin die Eine, die wackelte, nicht die Kamara. Das nächste Mal muss ich mit dem Stativ arbeiten!

Here you can see my phyton scarf with many of my hand spun yarns. It was a lovely winter activity!

Hier kann man im Pythonschal noch einige meiner hand gesponnene Garne sehen. Es war eine wunderbare Wintertätigkeit!
