Canada Goose is suing International Clothiers over trademark infringement. The popular Canadian outerwear manufacturer is claiming that the retailer's Super Triple Goose jacket has similar features to their distinctive Canada Goose parkas, including a logo on the right sleeve and two front-flap pockets on the waist.

Canada Goose Inc. filed a statement of claim in late January asking the Federal Court to stop International Clothiers from using its circular logo. In the statement Canada Goose claims that they are a "Canadian success story" and International Clothiers "is a manufacturer and retailer of low to mid-quality clothing products" most of which aren't made in Canada. So far Canada Goose has not claimed a specific amount in damages.

"Canada Goose prides itself on, and has become known for, designing and manufacturing its clothing products in Canada, and ensuring that they are of the highest quality."

Canada Goose alleges that International Clothiers has been selling the replica since December 2009.

International Clothiers has yet to comment.

The leading modelling agencies in the UK have all banned the use of tanning beds by their models. The Daily Mail reports that 11 agencies, including big-names like Elite, Premier Model Management Storm and Next, have signed up to support a "No Sunbed Policy" for all their models as London Fashion Week kicks off. The initiative is in support of Cancer Research UK's R UV UGLY campaign.

"Supporting this campaign makes perfect sense as the wellbeing of our models is of paramount importance and we take a serious approach to their health. We do not advocate the use of sunbeds for any of our models, and recommend that they choose safer options if they require a tan - spray tans are easy to apply and can last a week." - Sarah Doukas, Managing Director of Storm Model Management

In recent years the UK has made serious strides in creating a healthier working environment for models. UK agencies are known for promoting awareness of eating disorders and ensure girls walking the runway are above the age of 16.

What do you think of the tanning bed ban by UK modelling agencies? Should North American modelling agencies follow suit?
