In the early 80s Whitney Houston's self-titled debut album was a worldwide success. In January 1986 she hit the 14th annual American Music Awards to pick up a couple of her first statues wearing a black column dress, complete with a giant teal bow and giant rhinestone brooch on the shoulder.

1988: Grammy Awards

On March 2, 1988 Whitney hit the 30th annual Grammy Awards at New York's Radio City Music Hall to pick up her Grammy (after she was named Best Pop Vocal Performer) wearing an embellished little black dress. Note the bedazzled ankle cuffs.

1991: Super Bowl

One of the most memorable moments of Whitney's career was her performance of "The Star Spangled Banner" at Super Bowl XXV. That January afternoon Whitney opted to wear a striped and checked jumpsuit and a wide white headband.

1994: Grammy Awards

To pick up her 3 Grammy trophies (with songwriter/producer David Foster) at the 36th Grammy Awards, Whitney wore a striking floor-length sequined gown with sparkling gems. It was one of the biggest nights of her career.

Whitney and Mariah Carey had a memorable fashion faceoff at the 1998 MTV Video Music Awards when they poked fun at their faux catfight by wearing matching chocolate brown Vera Wang dresses. "Nice dress," Mariah said. "You look pretty good, too," Whitney replied.

Gwyneth Paltrow, Charlize Theron and Cameron Diaz are among the celebrities reportedly desperate to wear a Victoria Beckham dress on Hollywood's biggest night. The UK's Daily Mail reports that the pop star-turned-designer is working "day and night" to meet the demand.

A rep for Victoria confirmed the news, but wouldn't name names:

"We do have requests in from stylists for the Oscars, but as our team is so small we don't have the opportunity to custom make dresses like the bigger fashion houses. Nor do we have the big budgets to pay people to endorse our brand, so it's really a waiting game and we won't know until the night if any of our dresses will be worn."

Victoria Beckham debuted her fashion collection at New York Fashion Week to rave reviews just over three years ago. She will unveil latest collection in New York in just a few days.

Kanye West is determined to win over critics and make it as a reputable fashion designer. The fashion-forward rap superstar is returning to the runway to show off his new women's collection during Paris Fashion Week in March.

Kanye debuted his DW Kanye West line in October and received mixed reviews for his Paris Fashion Week offerings. Despite the (mostly) harsh criticism... a rep has confirmed that Kanye West will show his fall/winter 2012 collection in Paris on Tuesday March 6th at 9:30pm.
