One more Run Richmond Park Run in 2010!

Fancy taking part? Then we highly recommend you register quickly as places are limited and it’s likely they will sell-out! We hope to see you there!

Our 5th Run Richmond Park 5k and 10k in 2010 and a special one as it’s just been approved and it’s our first Autumn Richmond Park Run!! We really enjoy these events as the park is fantastic and the entry levels are restricted which makes the event super friendly! Ideal for all runners so please come and join us.

Our Run Richmond Park race series runs on a regular basis over the course of 2010. They take you around the superb parkland. There’s a few hills but they make it more fun!!

So get all your friends together and come and join us. Each race has very limited places so make sure you sign up early to secure your entry. Full event details can be found below.

Check out a live view of the run via our garmin download.

Click here for the 10k Run Route…

Click here for the 5k Run Route…

ARRIVAL AND REGISTRATION

Our 5k Richmond Park Runs will all start at 10am. The 10k Richmond Park Runs will start at 10.10am

Registration will be open from 8.30am and will close at 9.50am so please arrive nice and early.

Race packs will be sent out to you prior to the event and will include your race number. On the day of the event please pin this to the front of your t-shirt.

When you register on the day of the event you will receive a RACE CHIP. This will correspond with your race number and is essential to record your time. Please make sure you put this through your shoelace and make sure it is on before the start of the event and hand back to our team once you cross the finish line. You must hand this back to our team. If not returned there is a £10 charge.

THE EVENT

The run will take you up and around Richmond Park. The starting point is at Sheen Gate. The nearest postcode we have for here is SW14 8BJ. Please note this is not the exact postcode but should give you a close enough location. Sheen Lane is the street that takes you directly in to the park. View Streetmap. There is carparking here and toilets are situated on the right immediately as you enter the Park. Please note the carpark has limited space as this is open to the public. If possible please leave the car at home or park before coming in to Sheen Gate. Richmond mainline station is about 30-40 minutes walk. Please find the link to the course map at the top of this page. The course is a mix of country paths, a little bit of cross country and as you may have guessed slightly undulating! Remember its all good fun and you can walk, jog or run!! Please note the course may be altered prior to the event and if so we will inform you of this.

Please note that the start of the run will be staggered to abide by Richmond Park Policy. However this will not affect your time as our race timing system will record your time from when you cross the starting mat.

There will be marshals around the course to support and encourage you.

Please take care when running around the course as this is public land and local residents will be on the Park. Please always stay on the left unless otherwise guided. Be aware that there are deer in the Park and they occasionally cross the walking paths and roads.

Results will be displayed on our race timing screen so after crossing the finish line you can check out your time!!

Drinks and fruit will be available at the finish line.

AFTER THE EVENT

Everyone will receive a medal and there are also a few trophies that are up for grabs!

Photos will be for sale from our dedicated photographer IES Photography. Here’s the link to their website www.iesphotography.co.uk

You will be able to check out your instant race results.

We look forward to seeing you at our events. Results will be up online within 48 hours of the event completion. If you have any questions regarding the runs, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Mo Running has it’s first launch!! Check out the first phase of the website and get ready to be part of a global running phenomenon this November! www.mo-running.com

Something big is going on this November! And it’s not just bro’s growing Mo’s and Mo Sista’s supporting them! It’s what the running world will come to know as Mo Running! The month formerly known as November will become the month of Mo Running. We need you, your friends, your family and your work colleagues to join in this global phenomenon.

2009 saw the first inaugural Mo Run take place in Greenwich Park, London with 1000 registered Mo Bro’s and Mo Sista’s either growing their Mo’s or dressing up in some amazing outfits in support of Movember (an annual, month-long celebration of the moustache, highlighting men’s health issues, specifically prostate cancer and depression in men)

Mo Running fever has spread like facial hair, boldly growing at an unexpected pace!! Now in 2010 we will see Mo Bro’s and Mo Sista’s running in locations from London, Milton Keynes, Dublin and all the way down under in Australia and New Zealand…

So stay posted, join our community and become a Mo Runner this November!

Christopher’s Smile was set up in October 2008 by Karen & Kevin Capel following the tragic death of their only son Christopher from medulloblastoma, an aggressive brain tumour.

Supporting UK research centres such as The Institute of Cancer Research Christopher’s Smile aims to raise money to fund development of new drugs to treat medulloblastoma and other childhood cancers without devastating side effects. These drugs will provide an effective cure for all and save the lives of the 25% of children who currently do not survive their disease.

Every penny raised and donated goes directly into the cause – we take nothing out for administrative costs.

Our vision is for every child diagnosed with childhood cancer to not only survive, but to reach adulthood enjoying a good quality of life.

For more information please take a look at our website:

FATE, a local charity that sponsors the education of under-privileged children in developing countries, is celebrating this week as Dmitry Drozdov won the TRI Nations v UK 10K Run at Dorney Lake...

FATE takes gold at Tri-Nations 10k

FATE, a local charity that sponsors the education of under-privileged children in developing countries, is celebrating this week as Dmitry Drozdov won the TRI Nations v UK 10K Run at Dorney on Sunday with a fantastic time of just 37 minutes and 27 seconds, with Emma Flower coming second in the senior ladies’ category in just 44 minutes 26 seconds. Dmitry and Emma were two of sixteen competitors running for FATE.

Also worth a special mention are Melissa Pitt and Anthony Hall who are getting married this weekend and who travelled to Dorney from Swansea especially to run for FATE dressed in a veil and top hat! – we wish them all the very best for their special day.

The Tri-Nations 10k encourages runners to represent their country, and the FATE team joined in wholeheartedly, with runners representing Russia, Afghanistan, New Zealand, Holland, Wales, Sweden, the USA and of course the UK. As well as being a multi-cultural group, it was a group of mixed ability with Sarah Nutbrown – a determined FATE trustee – still smiling and bringing up the rear of the race almost an hour after Dmitry had finished, having walked the course in an hour and 36 minutes.

The FATE team has raised over £1,000 with sponsorship money still coming in, which is a great achievement. If you would like to help FATE achieve its fundraising target and sponsor the group, please visit www.virginmoneygiving.com/fatedorneyrun.

Note to editors

Fund for Action Through Education (FATE) is a UK registered charity (registered number 1125401) which supports underprivileged children in developing countries by providing them with access to good quality education. For further information, please visit www.fateuk.org or contact Sarah Noor at mail@fateuk.org or on 07961 942213.

Macmillan Cancer Support improves the lives of people affected by cancer. Why not join our Run Richmond Riverside 10k and support Macmillan...

Macmillan Cancer Support

Why not run for Macmillan Cancer Support . Join us at our Run Richmond Riverside 10k on the 16th October. This event is selling quickly so if you fancy it, make sure you sign up soon! Click here to go to the event page.

Macmillan Cancer Support improves the lives of people affected by cancer. One in three of us will get cancer. 2 million of us are living with it. We are all affected by cancer. We can all help. We are Macmillan.

As treatments improve, more and more people are living with cancer in their daily lives. This means they need more than medical help, they also need practical, emotional and financial support.

We are a source of support

We are a source of support, helping with all the things that people affected by cancer want and need. It’s not only patients who live with cancer, so we also help carers, families and communities. We guide people through the system, supporting them every step of the way. We fund nurses and other specialist health care professionals and build cancer care centres. But we give so much more than medical help.

People need practical support at home, so we provide anything from some precious time off for a carer, to a lift to hospital. People need emotional support, so we listen, advise and share information though our CancerLine, website, support groups and trained professionals. People need financial help to cope with the extra costs cancer can bring, so we give benefits advice, and grants for anything from heating bills to travel costs. Together we listen, we learn, we act to help people live with cancer.

We are a force for change

We are a force for change, listening to people affected by cancer and working together to improve cancer care. People who live with cancer are experts by experience. Together we use this knowledge to make a positive difference to the lives of people affected by cancer. This could be anything from getting a coffee machine installed in a waiting room, to bringing about changes in the law.

We fight discrimination – from challenging unfair travel costs and insurance policies to improving the national benefits system. Together we challenge the status quo, we push for change, we lead the way.

We are Macmillan

We believe we can all help. We can raise money – through marathons, coffee mornings, street collections, sponsored events. We can give time – at cancer care centres, events, fundraising groups. We can share experiences – online, in the media, with each other. We are Macmillan.

The Running School® has developed training protocols which can teach anyone how to run efficiently and how to run faster in 6 hours!

The Concept is to teach people of all ages to how to run and how to run fast! Most people have not been taught how to run; they assume it’s something that comes naturally. But running is a skill and just like any other skill it can be learnt.

Although it seems the most natural thing in the world to do many people don’t know how to run efficiently without getting injured, and to achieve their goal or challenge. People use running to stay fit, for weight loss or to help them with their sport or challenge like running a marathon. Children in particular, because of the reduced time they have to play outside at a young age have underdeveloped motor control skills – running, jumping, turning and sprinting. The purpose of The Running School® is to teach people how to run and then teach them how to run faster.

The Running School® has developed training protocols which can teach anyone how to run efficiently and how to run faster in 6 hours! The coaching methodology has been proven with thousands of non-athletes and elite athletes and is easy to follow, effective, complete and motivating.

It works equally well with kids as it does with adults who want to learn how to run or improve their running technique and speed.

Benefits of the Running School®

Improved running technique

Increased efficiency of running technique

Increased confidence and enjoyment

Decreased risk of injury associated with running

Better muscle balance and coordination
