Soup comes with the drink bar (which you have to pay for).

Ken! "Supu tada desu ka" is pretty casual!

That's like bounding up, beaming at the waitress and shouting "Free soup?!?" at her!

To be a little more polite, you might want to try,
"soopu wa hooka MAH lay-tay eemas ka?"

"Might the soup be included?"

You gave very good and informative write up on Harajuku. I'm going Jpn next week and I surely will NOT give Harajuku a miss. My daughter is going to try all the stuff you have introduced, especially the Kit Kat (she is a Kit Kat fanatic!!!). Arigato!

Hi Bao,

You really got my memory working on this one. I don't exactly remember the name of the hotel I stayed in. But I can tell you it was a 2 star hotel located on a little street in Ximending. Not the most luxurious but comfortable to sleep in. I wouldn't recommend going below 2 stars. Anything above 2 stars is acceptable in Taiwan. Having said that, you can find lots of inexpensive options in Ximending, an area which is a viable option for lodging. It's central, there is a plethora of street eats, shopping, as well as bars and clubs. Hope this helps. Have fun on the trip!
