Picking the perfect spot just got easier with even more menus in Explore!

It’s a Saturday night and you’re meeting friends for dinner. You’ve narrowed the choices down to two popular Italian spots — but how to choose? Starting today, you’ll see more menus in Foursquare, so you can decide given what restaurants have to offer. In addition to SinglePlatform, we’ve also partnered with Locu (a company that shares our mission of helping restaurants and local businesses connect with customers).

Along with browsing through tips and photos, you can check the menu to see if a restaurant has your favorite dish, like spinach gnocchi or chicken parm. Foursquare isn’t just limited to dinner. If you’re searching for brunch, lunch, drinks, or dessert, you’ll be able to view those menus, too.

We’re also working to incorporate price and service lists for non-restaurants. Soon, you’ll be able to scope out the services offered by spas, nail salons, hair salons, yoga studios, gyms, dry cleaners, and more!

Do you manage a small business? Update your listing at foursquare.com, and add your menu on Locu and SinglePlatform to help more people find you in Explore.

Need to find just the right spot? We’ve added extra filters on foursquare.com to make finding the perfect date spot, brunch place, or bar even easier.

Click the buttons at the top of the page to tailor your results:

Choose a price range (like a fancy restaurant for Mother’s Day)
See which places are offering money-saving specials
See only shops that are open right now

And because it’s Foursquare, it’s easy to personalize the recommendations (you’ll need to log in to use these):

See restaurants you haven’t been to before (new adventures!)
See bars your friends like to go to
See places you’ve saved (make headway on your to-do list!)

With the new Foursquare, we crunch our data to show you the most interesting things nearby, as soon as you open the app. We also know you never want to miss out on a recommendation from a friend. So, we’re rolling out more recommendations from friends, which you’ll see the moment you open the app (since they’re probably not around for you to ask them).

If you’re walking around and we know your pal has left a tip at a restaurant in the neighborhood, or if a bunch of your friends have been to a bar nearby, we’ll make sure you know about it.

Two days after 4sqDay, we’re still smiling over all of the tweets, photos, and specials from around the world. 4sqDay is all about celebrating our communities, and the ways people use Foursquare to find their new favorite coffee shop, that tucked-away clothing store downtown, or an amazing restaurant in an unfamiliar neighborhood. Now in its fourth year, it continues to be a truly global movement, and we couldn’t be more inspired by you, our amazing community.

From Berlin, Bologna, and Moscow to Paris, Atlanta, and Miami, you came together to check in at local cafés, plazas, bars, and restaurants, and unlock great specials along the way. What NYC spots can you not live without? Make an #NYCmustsee4sq list, and you could win!

Foursquare is all about helping you and your friends find the best places to go, wherever you are. Now it’s your turn to tell us — what are your must-see spots in NYC? Make a Foursquare list that includes the top five spots you’d recommend to everyone you know, locals and visitors alike, and you could win behind-the-scenes tours of Lincoln Center and Foursquare HQ.

Here’s how to enter:

Log in at foursquare.com and click the ‘Lists’ tab. Create a new list with #NYCmustsee4sq in the title, and add five spots to it.
The places should span at least three boroughs, but can be anywhere that you like to go (that’s open to the public). Maybe it’s an iconic spot like a park or a museum, or perhaps it’s a hidden gem that has yet to be discovered. Or like, that place where they go in “When Harry Met Sally”… or “You’ve Got Mail” … or “Kate & Leopold.” #welovemeg
Dress your list up with tips and photos so that it really stands out.

Submit the best five places, and yours will become one of the City of New York‘s official Foursquare lists and be featured on NYCGov’s many social media channels. You’ll also get a shoutout from @foursquare, some swag, and an invitation to tour both Foursquare HQ and Lincoln Center.
