Nvidia has confirmed a release date, and price for their portable device.

Coupled with the news, Nvidia were also keen to remind you what it’s packing:

Pure Android – Latest Android Jelly Bean operating system from Google, for access to Android games and apps

There’s more – We put into SHIELD everything we would want in a premium mobile gaming device: 16 GB memory, GPS, Bluetooth 3.0, a mini-HDMI output, micro-USB 2.0, a microSD storage slot, a 3.5-mm stereo headphone jack.

With portable devices like the PS Vita, and the 3DS steadily available – and stocked with a library of titles, we want to know if you plan on picking Nvidia’s Shield up.

Game industry folk say the darndest things on Twitter. In the wake of Mircosoft’s Adam Orth and THAT “always on” Twitter rant, EA Sports software employee Bob Summerwill has decided to give his employer a potential PR headache by lashing out at Nintendo’s Wii U console, calling it a “crap” and “awful console”.

But it dosen’t end there. Bob calls Nintendo a “walking dead” company, the Wii U’s online ecosystem “poor” and Nintendo’s business decisions akin to a company trapped in the early 1990′s. Bob goes on the critisize the console’s GamePad and calling the console less “powerful than Xbox 360.”

It’s been a curious day for EA and Nintendo’s Wii U. In the last 24 hours the company confirmed that it is not developing any games for Wii U, including FIFA 14. Summerwill’s comments rub further salt into Wii U’s wounds. As you can expect, his Twitter rant has since been deleted.

Insomniac Games “seriously considered” making Resistance 4, but instead decided to make FUSE instead, its first multi-platform game with EA due later this month.

In a GameSpot sit down interview with Insomniac’s Ted Price, the studio CEO told of how his team considered making a new Resistance game but the team’s fear of franchise fatigue among other things post Resistance 3 meant that they looked into doing something new and different. Something new and different turned out to be FUSE.

“We decided to bring Resistance to a conclusion when we looked ahead and realized that Resistance 4, while possible and something we seriously considered, wasn’t going to be the right game for us at that time,” Price said. “We wanted to do something new.”

“One of the aspects of building franchises, and sticking with them for a long time is that even the team can get franchise fatigue. We had been pushing hard with Resistance from the beginning–which was a tough birth–to Resistance 3, which is a game we were all very proud of,” he added. “With Resistance 3 it felt like we had capped off, or at least closed a major chapter in that franchise. So, a lot of the team was looking forward to doing something different.”

FUSE is do on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 at the end of this month. The last Resistance game, Burning Skies, was developed for PlayStation Vita by Nihilistic Software. It was something of a dud.

The Last of Us will also be released digitally upon release next month, and Naughty Dog has told Game Informer that once the PSN download hits 50%, you can actually jump in and start playing even before the full game has finished downloading. MAGIC.

Naughty Dog’s creative director Neil Druckmann and The Last of Us game director Bruce Straley told Game Informer that Sony had figured out a way to allow players to actually jump in and start playing the game once the download hits the half way mark, meaning that players won’t have to wait as long to play the highly anticipated new IP.

Sony revealed in February that PS4 games will be playable from almost the exact moment they start downloading. It looks like they have figured out a way to adopt this feature onto PlayStation 3 too in some way. Hats off to them.

The Last of Us is exclusive to PS3 from June 14th.

FIFA 14 is not in development for Wii U. EA remarked earlier today that they were not currently working on any projects for Nintendo’s console, but many thought that the format-centric FIFA franchise would almost certainly be an exception. As it turns out, its not.

In an statement released by Eurogamer, EA Sports said it took the decision after poor sales of the Wii U version of FIFA 13.

“Six months ago FIFA 13 was a launch title on Wii U,” an EA spokesperson told Eurogamer. “Although the game featured FIFA’s award-winning HD gameplay and innovative new ways to play, the commercial results were disappointing. We have decided not to develop FIFA 14 on Wii U.”

EA unanimously supported Wii U at launch with big name titles like Mass Effect 3 and FIFA 13. With no games in the pipeline, not even the next FIFA, the Wii U needs a pick me up. Uncertain times lie ahead.

SEGA has announced details of an exclusive partnership with Nintendo which means that Nintendo platforms have will be the “number one destination” for the next three Sonic games, starting with Sonic: Lost World on Wii U and 3DS.

“Sonic the Hedgehog has proven incredibly successful on Nintendo platforms and we are pleased to continue our long-standing relationship with Nintendo,” said John Cheng, President & COO, Sega of America. “As we initiate this new exclusive partnership with the next three titles we believe that Wii U and Nintendo 3DS are ideal platforms to showcase the evolution of the Sonic brand.”

Details relating to Sonic: Lost World are slim for now, but the title is being described as an action-adventure platforming game. Nintendo says they will have more information to share with eager gamers as we approach E3 2013 in June.
